BEAUTIFUL OBSESSION

Rate this book
The first time I saw Alexander Petrov, I knew my life would never be the same. He’s rich, dangerous, and cold, filled with quiet power and wrapped in silent rage. The difference between our worlds is something extraordinary. But no matter how hard I try to build walls between us, I keep getting pulled back into his orbit like a moth to a flame I shouldn’t touch. I’m scared to fall for him, but I can’t help it.

My past still claws at me every scar, every silence, every night that reminds me of what was taken. I’ve spent years trying to feel whole again, terrified that if I let him in, he’ll either shatter what’s left of me… or somehow piece me back together.

And even if he doesn’t break me, will the shadows of my past still come back to destroy everything?

Beautiful Obsession is a steamy, emotional, hurt/comfort M/M dark romance with an eight-year age gap, told in alternating first person. It follows a Deaf main character with trauma-induced mutism and the ruthless, fiercely protective man who learns what it truly means to love him.

Contains mature themes and triggers-see content warnings at the beginning of the book.

Oh woww, this story got me invested from the first page! I was floored by the whole story!

It’s an over 750 pages long book, and not one page was dull, it was intriguing AF!!

First an introduction:
We got Lucas, he is twenty years old, he’s traumatized, something awful happened to him years ago, he’s now hard of hearing, (most people use the word deaf) he uses hearing devices, and he has trauma-induced mutism.
He’s stunning, delicate, with beautiful androgynous features. Not that he’s aware of it.
He made himself invisible, when he’s not visible he won’t get hurt.
He lives in a small apartment with his precious best friend Tyler, who is the absolute best of the best!!

We also got Alexander Petrov, who’s twenty-nine, and the CFO of the family company, raised by the Russian Bratva. He has a tight family. So great to get to know them!!
He’s dangerous, ruthless, and a killer. He doesn’t do relationships.

They met at night in a dark alley where Alex was doing his business, and Lucas was bicycling.
Lucas couldn’t get his eyes off Alex, his eyes, his posture, he was beautiful but dangerous.
Alex couldn’t get his eyes off the beautiful blond guy on his bicycle. He’s immediately obsessed!

Did I mention Alexander is obsessed with Lucas? Oh boy! He’s as protective as obsessed!

There are thousands of little, and longer scenes to find, and those were incredible. I was floored.
I couldn’t put this read down, I was as obsessed as Alex and Lucas were.
Throughout this beautifully written, and largely detailed, journey, we get to know these men, their circumstances, their lives, their friends and family, and, last but not least, the traumatic event.

Alex worships Lucas, if only Lucas would let him in, and tell him what happened. Alex would destroy the world to make Lucas happy. But… It’s not that simple, and that’s their story.

It was a sizzling, steamy, oppressive story, tender, and highly emotional.
Alex and Lucas were breathtaking together, the whole story was!
There are some violent scenes, because it is still a dark story!

A winner. Highly recommended! On my 5+++ shelf

Beautiful Obsession is a dark, MM, billionaire romance. Lucas is on his way home from work when he sees a man beating up someone. He feels he should be scared but is weirdly calm. Their eyes meet and then he rides away, not realizing he caught the gaze of a killer.
Alex is filthy rich, shares in both his parent’s businesses and the grandson to a Russian mafia boss. While he is not fully in the mafia world, he was trained at a young age to take care of things. The moment his eyes locked with Lucas, an obsession is born.
He finds where Lucas works, finding out Lucas is deaf and non-verbal. He makes an offer, Lucas quits his current jobs and work for him, teaching him sign language. Lucas, while fascinated by Alex is reluctant to trust him and can’t afford to lose a steady income. It wasn’t until Alex threatens to burn the building down, that he quits.
Alex slowly, or not so slowly, inserts himself in Lucas’s life and has already all but claimed him. He introduces him to his family, he buys him pretty to things and kills people who hurt his feelings.

I really loved this book! I devoured it! I loved sweet Lucas with a traumatic past and cold, stoic, Alex, who will do anything for him. This does get very emotional, be warned! ♥️♥️♥️

This book just wasn't for me. I believe if it were a little shorter, I would've enjoyed it more but 700+ was too long for me.
However, I do appreciate that the characters were beautifully written, I loved side characters such as Maksim and Alex's grandfather (I would've liked to see more of him, honestly), Davika, and Tyler was an angel. I wasn't too happy about the hint of a love triangle...
There were also a lot of stunning quotes, a lot of imagery was amazing and super detailed and who doesn't love a broody, morally grey, billionaire?😉
The last 30% of the book was great, I really liked the ending and the epilogues.
But thank you for trusting me to read your book early! Although this book wasn't for me, I am interested in whether you will do any interconnected books with Maksim and Anton and Viktor in the future!

Favourite quote.
Except him. The boy with hair like sunlight tangled into curls, and a face sharp yet delicate, marred with freckles like someone painted him in constellations. He unsettles me.

🤍

Thank you again for allowing me to read your book early!

Review:
This was a really lovely debut. The author's writing is really beautiful and I highlighted so many wonderful quotes.

I loved the push and pull between the characters at the beginning and how they couldn't deny the instant connection between them. Alex's insta-obsession was everything I love about morally grey characters and his protectiveness over Lucas was swoon worthy.

There were so many really sweet moments between the MCs, even during some of the spicy moments which really added to the intimacy of those scenes. The chemistry built between the MCs was really well written and you could really feel through the pages how much the main characters adored eachother.

I really loved Alex's mother, her acceptance straight away of Lucas and the softness she had towards him was so loving. I'm very intrigued by some of the other side characters and the hinted romance there and will definitely read their stories if the books are a little shorter.

Overall I really enjoyed the story but felt like the author tried to fit in too much which made it much longer than it needed to be, if it was shorter I definitely would have rated it higher 😊

Thank you to the author for the ARC, all opinions are my own.

Couple: Lucas and Alex.

I was provided with an ARC by the authors in exchange for an honest review. These are my real sentiments about the story and everything written here is respectful, without meaning to harm anyone, but to offer my opinion as constructive criticism/compliments. Thank you, my dear Vee, for the opportunity! I'm truly honored!

Structure: Dual POV, first person, present tense. First book of a series.

Wow. Okay. This book was a JOURNEY. I don't even know where to start, but let's go. i apologize in advance if this is not a well-written review, I just find it really hard to properly write about something that moved me in a way I just did not expect, especially with English not being my first language. Words go missing at times like this 😅

Alright, I know the amount of pages may scared some people. Usually, when a story is that long, I feel like some things were unecessary. It was not the case with Beautiful Obsession. I'm actually in awe about how much the pacing made sense. While there were a few thoughts/feelings that were repeated over the chapters, I'm so glad Lucas' and Alex's relationship was built as it was. It was absolutely attraction-at-first-sight. And WHAT an attraction! Those two burned a whole room just by how they looked at each other! It was almost palpable.

Vee is a master of writing intensity. Seriously. I literally was breathless in almost every chapter. I could feel every emotion so raw and deep in my bones. I believed every single thing they felt, either about themselves or others. And even with all their intense attraction, it wouldn't have made sense for Lucas to give himself completely to Alex so easily after everything he'd been through. His constant back and forth, pushing and pulling when it came to his deep want to be with Alex, but thinking he was not enough, was beautifully done.

Honestly, Lucas whole traumatic experience, the way he responded to all that, the symptoms that followed, all his responses to everything, just made sense. I'm truly, extremely impressed. I'm a mental health professional and man, it's rare for me to feel this satisfied with how mental health issues are dealt with in romances. I love that Alex became Lucas' safe place, but he wasn't the only one. Tyler's relationship with Lucas was SO special. The scene So I respect and appreciate the hell out of Vee for going through that path, which was, imho, the right one.

The complexity of every single character just drew me in. They're never dual, we can see the multitude that makes them all purely human. We get mad at them, we wanna protect them, we understand their choices even if we don't agree with them ourselves. I don't know, I'm just really impressed at the depth of absolutely everything in this story.

Even writing this, remembering all the feelings Vee has put me through with her words, I feel my heart beating faster LOL I did expect to enjoy this story, as it has a lot of tropes I usually like. But I didn't expect just how much impact it would have over me. Alex and Lucas and most secondary characters felt like real people to me, you know. I feel connected to them now. It's a crazy sensation.

I gotta give a shoutout to Davika. She deserves her very special spotlight. What an INCREDIBLE human being! I also appreciated that

All the scenes were intense, for real. But the sex scenes? OH MY GOD! Oh my fucking holy god!!! I don't know. It's like how can someone write such beautiful, hot, sweet, dirty action all at once? How can we feel their connection on a body, mind, emotional and soul level at the same time? That is SO hard to do! I just felt entranced while reading any scenes that depicted any kind of intimacy between Alex and Lucas, really (which were basically all the scenes with them together lol).

Now I'm dying for Maksim's and Tristan's story, as well as

I don't even know. This review is all over the place. Seriously, I just have too many emotions simmering through me about this story. Just do yourself a favor and go read it.

Vee, forever grateful you decided to go through with publishing this masterpiece 💚

Alex and Lucas
💫💫💫💫💫
🌶🌶🌶

Age gap (20/29)
Trauma induced deaf & mutism
Touch starved V1rgin
Touch him and D!e
Morally Grey
Soft broken boy
He falls first and harder

This was incredible. Stunningly written. Beautifully paced. Phenomenal story between two men who put each other back together.

I loved this. This is a chunky book. Every word was needed. It felt natural, the progression of their relationship and events in the book was perfect. I absolutely could have kept reading, give me all the pages! This flowed so easily, I COULD NOT put it down.

I adored how ruthless Alex was but how soft he was for Lucas, only for Lucas… swoon. How patient and gentle he was, how kind, even though it goes against his nature, Lucas brought the best out in him.

The way Alex ran to learn ASL for him. Ugh my heart.

My heart ached for Lucas and the pain and trauma he carried. Lucas was so strong, he endured so much, most of it alone, aside from his best friend Tyler.

I don’t want to give away the plot, I think you should go in blind and trust the author, you will not be disappointed. The story and ending felt so full circle in so many ways. I felt complete and stunned how good this book really was.

I appreciate so much that Alex was not toxic, that no part of this book was toxic even with darkish vibes. There were times I expected “drama” because I think I'm used to that with darkish vibed books, but this had me swooning, tearing up and cheering for these two.

Alex, being Bratva and all, lives a dangerous life, but he was so mindful to not allow that to touch Lucas in any negative way. He just wanted Lucas, his sweet Pillow Princess to thrive. Ugh my heart. Phenomenal

The intimacy between these two was incredible. Alex let Lucas set the pace, it was so emotional, so vulnerable. Just their first kissing scene felt like electricity flying off the page. You felt how intense their chemistry and attraction was for each other. How safe Lucas felt with Alex. Their “first time”, sheesh, so hot and so emotional and intense.

Again, I need to mention how this could have played toxic, but it was so not, ugh Vee Eddy stunned me with how this book played out. At the edge of my seat at certain moments, swooning at others, crying for these boys as well.

Honorable mention to Davika, Alex’s mom. Honorable mention to Maksim, Alex’s younger brother too.

I feel like I could keep gushing about this book. There are so many things I loved about it. Just so so good. So different than I expected, absolutely not your typical Hurt/Comfort dark hero romance.

This is absolutely going onto my top 10 books.

I truly cannot wait to read the other books to come.

So thankful for this arc

First things first: I want to call out that there are quite a few editing issues, mostly typos, misspellings, missing quotation marks, and some odd capitalization. Definitely a proofreading problem rather than a writing problem. HOWEVER, and this is important, the author has been very transparent about this. They shared on Instagram that they submitted the final manuscript to Amazon on the deadline, but the file locked and an earlier draft was mistakenly published. This is being fixed, and if you’re reading the version with the cartoon couple on the cover, you have the corrected edition. (I actually prefer the original cover, but I’m not much of a cartoon-cover person in general.) So bottom line, ignore the typos, they are essentially an administrative error.

I’m landing at 4 stars for a few reasons. This is a long book, and I don’t usually love long romances. I was also coming out of a serious reading slump—I’d DNF’d three or four books in a row—so the fact that this one genuinely pulled me in says a lot. For most of the book, the pacing was excellent. I’ll be honest and say it faltered a bit in the final third, but overall I stayed engaged, which is no small feat at 700+ pages.

I liked the couple overall. I’m a sucker for a possessive/obsessive MC, and I clearly have a soft spot for submissive characters named Lucas; those things immediately reminded me of one of my favorite MM romances, Possession by Rina Saint. This is very much a fast burn, and it made me realize I have a personal hierarchy when it comes to fast-burn tropes:
1. Magical connection
2. Instalust
3. Insta-love (a very distant last place)

This book falls into the “magical connection” category; essentially fated mates without the omegaverse. When it’s written well, I’m on board, and it worked for me here. That said, I did occasionally wish Lucas had been given something more—a standout talent, a sharper edge, a defining skill—because he’s primarily portrayed as a beautiful, sweet, broken boy. I felt a bit of a relationship imbalance as a result. When Lucas wondered “why me?”, I found myself wondering too. Not because he wasn’t lovely, but because when a gorgeous, generous billionaire falls that hard, it invites scrutiny.

And speaking of billionaire…let’s be real, this man is basically an oligarch. Anyone who’s read my other reviews knows I struggle with extreme wealth imbalance in romance. Lavishing one person with expensive things can feel less romantic and more uncomfortable, especially in the current world we live in. Early on, I hoped we would avoid the inevitable Pretty Woman luxury-shopping fantasy, but alas, we did not. Personal shopper, high-end designer stores, the whole thing. That trope just doesn’t do much for me except stretch whatever muscle I use to roll my eyes.

The steam level was solid, but by the end the sex scenes started to feel a bit repetitive. I enjoy explicit romance, but variety matters, and these scenes began to blur together.

One random note that I thought was kind of funny: by the end, I was half-convinced Lucas might have narcolepsy. That boy sleeps a lot. It made sense earlier on when he was juggling school and a full-time job, but later…less so.

Finally—and I say this with respect because I clearly did stick with it—the book is too long. The story and characters are strong, but the repetition toward the end dulled the impact. Some scenes felt unnecessary (Lucas’s conversation with his classmate late in the book comes to mind). I truly believe that trimming 150–200 pages would have made this a five-star read for me.

All that said: this is an excellent debut. The author knows how to tell a story and create compelling MCs, and I’m absolutely planning to read the next installment. I’m just hoping for a tighter edit next time.

Lucas is such a sweet thing. I really love his character, and the representation for the DHH and non-verbal communities. He’s got such a delicately innocent vibe about him, seeking only comfort and peace in his life after dealing with such a heavy, lingering trauma. Just a boy with a broken spirit needing the right person to protect him, and provide him wiht the space to heal and grow.
Alex is not without his own trauma, he just handles it differently; locking it away, not letting it affect his day to day life. He used to fight to deal wiht his anger. A man with a heart of gold, buried beneath a hardened exterior, who doesn’t even know that he’s wanting someone to care and provide for until he locks eyes with a freckle-faced beauty of a boy in an alley. Alex being obsessed with Lucas at first sight, and Lucas being so confused about what this large, clearly wealthy man wants with him is just adorable.
The give and take, push and pull of between the two MCs is just wonderful. The pacing of their romance, and the balance between the moments with tender connection and the burning passionate intimacy, adds to the entire story. There was this feeling that would linger in the chapters where Lucas was talking negatively about out himself, or doubting Alex’s feelings; one that made my chest ache for the sweet, affection starved boy. This feeling was washed away when Alex’s POV came along in the next chapter, and we got to see from his perspective just how genuinely down bad and out of his mind he is for Lucas.
Just wanting to give him literally everything, and help him heal from whatever it is that darkens his pretty brown eyes
Im also just really insane for Alex calling Lucas his princess . Another thing that I found to be the sweetest, Alex’s mother loving Lucas and accepting him when they first get to meet, just because he makes Alex happy.

5/5🌟 for the deeply emotional and absolutely amazing plot
4.5/5 🌶️ mostly for the face that Alex calls Lucas his "princess", but also just for the delicious spice served in these pages
4.5/5🍬 for the fact that Alex is always there for Lucas, ready and willing to be whatever kind of support his boy needs

I am OBSESSED with these characters and this book. Alex is everything you would expect from a guy with bratva ties but he’s also nothing like you would expect from a guy with bratva ties. Morally grey is kind of an understatement but honestly all the acts of v¡0l€nc€ he commits in this book at least are for pretty noble reasons. Lucas is such a tragically perfect character. He had a pretty traumatic childhood with a good-for-nothing mother and it all culminated in a truly traumatic event that changed his entire life and I loved the way his best friend Tyler was able to help bring him back to a semblance of normality afterwards but it was really Alex who facilitated a lot of his healing. The tension between Lucas and Alex was WILD and this is a slow burn but when it finally got to the point of them being physical with each other it was incredibly hot. The only thing I didn’t like about their physical relationship was the whole “princess” thing but it didn’t happen enough to detract from the spice. I loved how welcoming Alex’s mother and family were to Lucas. Chapter 45 had me REJOICING because like v€ng€@nce is so sweet sometimes. I loved the side characters like Maksim and Viktor and I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

✨ARC Review ✨

I don't even know where to begin with this one. It was spectacular! It gripped me from start to finish and I DEVOURED every word 🥹. This was a wonderful debut 💜.

Lucas & Alex were everything I love in a couple and a darker romance 😈 I love how Lucas softened Alex but only for him and Alex instinctively knew he could trust and count on Alex even when his mind got in the way.

The plot was beautifully done as well, I mean the entire time I read I was begging to just know what happened next 🤣. The side characters were also so interesting! I can't wait to learn about Tyler and Viktor as well as hopefully Anton & Maksim in the future 😍. I can already see how obsessed I am with this world and series so bravo to Vee Eddy because I am hooked 😘. The push and pull between these two characters was done so well 🫶.

If you love your romances possessive, gritty, hard fought and hard earned then definitely give this book a shot! It's wonderful. But definitely check the triggers because it is a darker romance and has some darker elements and moments and as always your mental health is important.

Okay, so let me start by saying that the last time I read a book this long was about a year ago—and when I saw this was a 700+ page book, I was low-key terrified. Like… what do you even write about for that many pages??

Then I got sick, couldn’t sleep at night because breathing was apparently optional, so I picked it up. And now I’m done and I have exactly one thought:

THIS WAS SO FUCKING GOOD.
BUT EXCUSE ME—WHERE IS THE NEXT BOOK???

From the very first moment, Alex and Lucas’s story completely pulled me in, and so did the dynamic between them.

The fact that Alex immediately wants to learn ASL the moment he finds out Lucas is deaf???
One of the most beautiful, romantic things I’ve ever read.
WHO IS THIS MAN AND WHY IS HE NOT REAL?? 😫😍

And what unfolds is a story about obsession, protection, care, devotion, unconditional love, and healing—and it’s done so well.

Watching their two completely different worlds collide, seeing Lucas find safety and peace in Alex’s presence despite everything he’s been through, and Alex being absolutely feral about protecting his little pillow princess??? I was DONE.

There were moments when I expected drama, when I expected the story to turn a bit toxic, but it didn’t—and that was so refreshing, because many authors tend to push things in another (not necessarily good) direction when writing dark-themed books.

The story came full circle perfectly, and everyone got the ending they deserved.

And can we PLEASE talk about the side characters???
Maksim, Viktor, Tyler, Davika, Roman—I loved every single one of them. (Though Roman deserved way more page time because he was fantastic.)
And I’m begging for Viktor and Maksim to get their own books because they are way too good to be left like this.

I could honestly talk about this book forever, but character limits are cruel, so I’ll stop here. Just know this:
This was definitely not my last Vee Eddy book.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author, and this is my honest review.

This was a beautifully emotional debut that completely pulled me in and was so hard to put down! Vee Eddy’s writing is both soft and intense at the same time.

The connection between Alex and Lucas had an immediate, undeniable pull. Alex’s morally grey, fiercely protective, slightly unhinged devotion hit every one of my favorite tropes, and watching his world begin to revolve around Lucas was equal parts swoony and dangerous in the best way.

Lucas absolutely owned my heart. He’s gentle, tender, and quietly strong. And the care taken with the DHH and non-verbal representation made his character feel incredibly meaningful. There’s a softness to him that comes from someone who’s been through far too much and is simply longing for safety, stability, and a place where he can finally breathe. His journey isn’t about being “fixed,” but about being seen, protected, and given the space to heal on his own terms… and watching him slowly find that was deeply emotional and beautiful.

One of my favorite parts of the book was Lucas and Tyler’s friendship. Their bond brought so much warmth and heart to the story, and Tyler’s birthday scene completely caught me off guard. I did not expect to be crying, but here we are. 😭 Those quieter, emotional moments added so much depth and balance to the darker and spicier elements of the story.

I also adored Alex’s mother. Her immediate acceptance of Lucas and the gentle, loving way she cared for him made every scene with her feel like a safe place. She was such a comforting presence and added another layer of tenderness to the story.

The chemistry between the MCs was intense, the emotional beats landed hard, and even in the spiciest scenes there was a softness that made their connection feel deeply intimate and real.

Overall, this was a dark, swoony, and heartfelt read that I really enjoyed, and I’m excited to see what Vee Eddy writes next. Thank you so much for the ARC!

“And in that moment, watching him, I realize this is forever, and I will protect it as long as I live and never take it for granted.”
.
.
To say I started my new year with a bang would be an understatement. Yes, my first read of 2026 was Vee Eddy’s debut, “Beautiful Obsession,” and after roughly 700+ pages… I, too, am obsessed with Alexander and Lucas.

In a moment of happenstance, Lucas catches Alexander’s eye, and what blossoms isn’t just infatuation but soulmates finding one another.

As Lucas and Alex’s story unfolds, there will be moments of immense emotional pain and heartbreak. There is also an abundance of reverent, soft, genuine, and intimate moments as well.

Overall, its beautiful story that takes you through many ebbs and flows. However, the payoff is so worth it and makes their love story all the more special. I am incredibly excited to continue supporting Vee after a phenomenal debut and see what’s next for perhaps Maksim?

Things I Loved:

-At 700+ pages, Lucas and Alexander’s story is unputdownable. I thoroughly enjoyed the pacing and Eddy taking the necessary time and care to unpack other important aspects of their story.

-The found family aspect. I loved how Alex’s family (especially his mother) embraced Lucas. Despite Lucas’s mother being alive, for all intents and purposes, she was not maternal or nurturing. So watching Davika step into that role for Lucas was incredibly endearing. Additionally, I loved how Maksim eventually wanted to be Lucas’s friend. Then of course, there’s Tyler, who remained a steadfast friend to Luca through thick and thin.

-Alexander. There was much more to Alex than his wealth, obsessive nature, or power. A prevalent theme throughout Beautiful Obsession is Alex’s patience and steadfastness. He is acutely aware that something traumatic has happened to Lucas. So he is continually committed to moving at the pace Lucas sets. He respects Lucas’s boundaries all while caring for him and showing him what love can be. Examples: His willingness to learn ASL for Lucas. Encouraging him to attend whatever school he sets his heart on.

An amazing debut that will have me thinking about it for days to come. What an amazing book to start the year with!!

This is a chunky book, but I honestly felt like it was the perfect length. I can’t really see it being shorter. Every page added a wonderful depth to the story that was necessary. Make sure to mind your triggers as this book is dark and deals with some heavy topics.

The first chapter hooked me in a way that I immediately knew this story was going to be a top read. And each chapter proved that. I was drawn in like a bear to honey. Lucas and Alex’s relationship was beautiful. They were obsession and warmth and love. Lucas is barely holding on after the trauma he’s faced. The scars it left on his soul are deep and painful. I was sobbing when everything was revealed. And though he’s resilient enough to keep going, it’s easy to see how exhausted he is. He needed someone like Alex, someone with patience. The care and protectiveness Alex felt for Lucas shined through every action. It had me so giddy. Alex was beyond perfect for Lucas. It was a struggle, and Lucas fought, but their fates were sealed the moment their gazes locked.

I completely adored Lucas and Tyler’s friendship. After everything he went through, I was so happy Lucas had someone like that in his corner. I mean a friend willing to threaten a powerful and dangerous man like Alexander is top tier. He’s the kind of friend everyone should have. I adored Maksim too. He brought a nice chaotic energy to the story. And Alex’s mother had me in the palm of her hand. I loved everything about her. Especially the way she took to Lucas.

I’m ready for the rest of this series. The small snippets of couples to come have me beyond excited.

I got an advanced copy and this is my voluntary review.

title: beautiful obsession
author: vee eddy
ranting: ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 (4/5)

📖 quote: “I love the way you look at me like I am your anchor. I love the way you touch me, like I’m something you can’t get enough of, and how you kiss me like I am your whole world. The way you smile for me. Everything about you is so fucking addictive. More importantly, I love you, and I’d burn the whole world down before I let you slip through my hands.”

💭 thoughts: I can’t believe I ended the year by reading 753 pages in one sitting—and honestly, it was worth every second. Vee truly writes the cutest mafia romance ever.
Lucas and Alex were everything. Completely, undeniably perfect for each other. Alex becoming instantly obsessed with Lucas at first sight, and Lucas being overwhelmed by a kind of love he’d never known how to accept… it was beautiful. In a world full of suffering and ugliness, their love was pure, gentle and deeply soft.

🎀 vibes: hurt/comfort, dark romance, dual 1st pov, trauma induced deaf & mutism, age gap (20/29), touch him & d!e, touch starved v!rgin, he falls first & harder, soft broken boy
📚 pace: fast

This was such an amazing read; it has everything that I like: mafia, broken boys, and an obsessed MMC, but with all the right things to protect his loved one. I love it so much!!

Alex and Lucas had an encounter that could have turned into something more dangerous, but it had the opposite outcome with a powerful interest between them. A new relationship forms.

Lucas is struggling with the amount of debts he is dealing with and has a slight disadvantage at work with being deaf and non-verbal. Despite what he went through that broke my heart, he has such a strong will to keep going and not give up.
Alex, after Lucas witnessed his work in a dark alley, has not been able to stop thinking about him. He doesn’t really know where the urges come from, and he won’t stop to approach and get to know him.

The way the story takes its time to let the characters get to know each other was really well done. Like all the occasions they met, it felt believable and built anticipation for what’s coming next.

The forced proximity and hurt/comfort worked excellently to expand the characters' relationship and how slowly but steadily they connected. The side characters also add more depth to the story and how they interact and help our main characters.

Overall, I love Alex and Lucas a lot; it was so rewarding to read about their relationship and how they were able to get their well-deserved HEA.

Beautiful Obsession delivers exactly what it promises: a dark, steamy, and deeply emotional romance that pulls you into its orbit and doesn't let go. This is the story of Lucas, a Deaf young man bearing the weight of trauma and financial strain, and Alexander, a ruthless, powerful figure shrouded in danger.

The dynamic between them is electric from their first, fateful meeting in a rain-soaked alley. Lucas, struggling to feel whole and seen, is a profoundly sympathetic character. His journey is one of quiet resilience, and his perspective is handled with care and depth. Alexander, for all his cold exterior and morally grey edges, reveals a capacity for a fierce, unwavering protectiveness that is utterly compelling. Their age gap and vastly different worlds create a tangible tension, but the connection that forms is built on more than just obsession; it’s built on a gradual, stunning understanding.

What I loved most was how the relationship developed. Alexander's determination to learn ASL for Lucas was a beautiful, concrete manifestation of his care, going beyond grand gestures to genuine communication. The hurt/comfort element is central and powerfully executed; you feel every moment of Lucas's pain and every moment of solace Alexander provides.

The story is dark, dealing with heavy themes of past trauma, bullying, and familial neglect, so checking the content warnings is a must. But at its heart, this is a story about healing. It’s about finding someone who doesn't see you as broken, but who stands guard as you piece yourself back together. The romance is intense, the chemistry is off-the-charts, and the emotional payoff is incredibly satisfying.

If you enjoy dark romances where a dangerous hero is utterly devoted to healing his wounded partner, where love feels like both a risk and a refuge, this book is for you. Just be prepared to be obsessed

Navigating a world from hearing to non hearing is something that Lucas has been dealing with for the past 5 years. What he least expected was for the man he saw committing a crime to crash into his life and shake everything up. Alex draws Lucas in like a moth to a flame—and how could he resist, when Alexander Petrov is nothing but one massive green flag, even going so far as to learn ASL just to communicate with him?

Alex has never been drawn to anyone like he is to Lucas. This heartbreakingly beautiful, broken man is hiding something—something that keeps him caught in his gravity. What begins as curiosity slowly becomes obsession, then possession. How can someone who looks as fragile as porcelain be the strongest person he has ever known? And what shaped him into that? He doesn’t know why or how, but he’s determined to find out—and to battle every single one of Lucas’s demons until there are none left.

This book is easily one of my top reads of 2026.
I'm honestly shocked this is a debut because it was written so beautifully. I loved how emotionally invested Alex is, even when he can't quite put a name to what he's feeling and instead lets his instincts guide him. And Lucas? I've never related to a character the way I did with his. The way Vee wrote his storyline felt so genuinely authentic that it made me cry. Seeing his strength after everything he's been through left me in awe, and his realization that it's okay to be vulnerable and seek comfort from the people he loves was the strongest thing he could have done. And we can't forget Alex's mom. Her acceptance of Lucas and how genuinely sweet she is, along with how much she cares about Alex's happiness, truly made my heart happy.

If you love obsessive/possessive MMCs, a feisty MMC, touch-him-and-die energy, I'd burn the world down to keep you safe, and strong found family vibes, this book is absolutely for you.

What a beautiful book! I got hooked from the very first page, and I barely noticed the 700+ pages go by.

At first, I thought, “Damn, that’s a very long book, I hope it won’t be repetitive,” and it was not—at all! It was beautifully written. I highlighted so many sentences!

Lucas is the kind of person you want to keep forever and protect from everything. What happened to him broke my heart (thanks for that!), and I’m so glad he found Alexander. He truly deserves the love he finally received.

Alexander. THAT man. I’d crawl for him, to be honest, because WHAT? He is literally the best book boyfriend ever—or at least he’s definitely in my top 5 now. That man knows how to love, cherish, and worship someone. When he loves, he does it fiercely and without ever giving up.

I love them. Their story was sad but beautiful, and they deserve their happy ending 100%.

I would also like to thank the author, because this was my first ARC, and I’m so glad it was. I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Thank you so much for bringing these perfectly imperfect characters to life and for letting us see them and live their story through your beautiful writing. I can’t wait for more books—I need Tyler’s story so bad!

From my understanding this book is Vee's debut release, and for this being their first published book I think it's pretty good. For me personally I think there was something missing, there wasn't as smooth of a flow for me, and the pacing seemed a bit all over the place.

HOWEVER,
And this is important, I still enjoyed reading this book. I thought the characters were interesting and they definitely were multifaceted, they had layers to their personalities. And gradually overtime we got to know more about them and all the skeletons that are in their proverbial closets.

The romance between our two MC's is interesting.. it's not your typical sweet romance where there are conventional dates and feelings gradually grow. This was more of the.. "I saw you, now you're mine" kind of relationship, Which worked for these characters.

The side characters were great too almost as great as the MC's were, I hope they'll get their own stories because I sense their books are going to be full of angst and pining.

All in all, a good book to start off your career with!

~~I received an early copy of this book and these are my honest thoughts and opinions.~~~

I must admit, this book destroyed my heart, page after page. What happened to Lucas, his thoughts, his feelings. I literally had tears in my eyes.

There are some very heavy psychological themes (as well as - dark romance related - blood and violence), but I think they were handled with care, and it's always amazing to see how a character can heal throughout the story.
It was not an easy journey for Alex and Lucas, but Alex was a very determined man (and obsessed! and stubborn! 😈) he was very patient with Lucas, and we could see, how on every step, he made it possible for Lucas to finally start healing, and he always tried to be there whenever he needed him.

There are also a lot of amazing side characters (I especially loved Alex's mother) as well as some characters, that eventually got what they deserved (that, I might add was very satisfying 😁).

This was a debut novel and what a debut that was! The writing was beautiful and the story was engaging.

🚨But! With this one, you should check your triggers.

Yes, Yes , Yes this new breakout book started my new year out with a bang. If you love dark romance with MC's having true obsession with each other you will fall in love with Alex and Lucas.

Setting up this new world and introducing not only the main MC's but also a wonderful supporting cast really was written with care and depth. I can't wait for more books from this I hope to be series.

This story can be emotional at times, but I love how the author tackles some tough issues with grace. Filled with steamy sexy time Alex and Lucas will give you all the feels. Now for the side characters, this being a debut book I feel like the foundation for them was spot on. Giving nuggets of other story lines was planned out great as not to take away from Alex and Lucas but making us want book 2.

I will say that this book is a long read so know that going in but honestly it as worth it. Can't wait for book 2

I received an Advanced Reader Copy.

I admit when I saw how long it was, I was like rip my ADHD brain. I declared myself dead to the world. Kudos to Vee for engaging my squirrel of a brain. I was so lost in this book, itching to see what happens next. I cursed having to do adult things in between. My heart broke for Lucas and it shattered learning what happened to him. He was so strong and he survived even after all that. Alex was such a patience man even when he had no idea what was going on or what to do. The way he was willing to burn down the whole world for him just for Lucas to find some semblance of peace. A truly beautiful story. I am glad Lucas was able to finally heal. The length was definitely warranted and worth it. I am anxious to read about the other couples that were hinted.

I am utterly obsessed with Beautiful Obsession. What a great debut from author Vee Eddy! Lucas and Alex have my whole heart and Lucas’s story, especially, is going to stick with me for a long time.

I was immediately drawn to Lucas. Just like Alex, I found myself wanting to know what happened to him. What or who hurt him. And then Alex bringing the “I will burn the entire world down for him” vibe was perfection. Ooof, that man is OBSESSED and I am so here for it.

The world has been very unkind to our sweet Lucas. My heart broke for him so many times. And, I’m going to keep this as vague as possible, but seeing glimpses of teenage Lucas before his spark was stolen and then learning his full story was beyond devastating. My heart feels heavy just thinking about it again. I want to wrap both of them up and keep them safe forever. 🥺

Please do check content warnings if needed. There are very heavy situations throughout. Also, I appreciate and want to thank author Vee Eddy for the deaf/hearing loss and ASL representation.

I can’t wait to read more from Vee Eddy, especially this series. Tyler, Viktor, Maksim.. I hope we get to hear their stories, too. 🖤

For a debut novel, this one completely surprised me—in the best way.
The meet-cute between Alex and Lucas is unexpected and immediately pulls you in, but it’s the emotional unraveling that really stuck with me.
Watching their relationship develop while Lucas’s past refuses to loosen its grip was heartbreaking and beautiful all at once.
There’s a constant push and pull between fear and desire, safety and obsession, and it made every quiet moment memorable.
Dark MM romance with a soft center, possessive devotion, hurt/comfort, and a broken boy learning what it means to be touched—emotionally and physically. 🖤
& Alex falling first and harder? SWOON.😍
