New to me author but by the time I write this review I would have read one other book from this author.
This was a very interesting read because of the storyline. I love that our main character is not necessarily one you want to root for.
It really wasn't about rectifying what was done wrong but watching the story as a whole unfold.
The whole read was great but that ending with the multiple plot twists-AMAZING!

Okay, so let me start off by saying this was a PHENOMENAL, quick paranormal read! Like, this book does NOT get enough shine!
I actually came across this book because it popped up on my algorithm. And listen, I had seen two different covers for it, and the cover alone intrigued me. Then I read the synopsis and was like, “Okay, let me find out what’s going on here.” Baby, once I started reading, I was HOOKED!
Let me tell you something: you know an author’s pen game is GOOD when they can take the most despicable character and somehow have you feeling empathy for him by the end. And that happened with Don.
Let me be clear—I DID NOT LIKE DON! 😂 I could not stand that man, especially in the beginning. He was just constantly crashing out on everybody and did not care! He was unhinged, ruthless, and just…a whole problem. But at the same time, he was exactly who he was. And somehow, after everything that happened to him, I found myself looking at him differently. I had more empathy for him than I ever expected to have, and that caught me completely off guard.
Now let’s get to Link, Raye, Trinity, and the rest of the crew. Y’ALL SET YOURSELVES UP! 😂
First of all, Raye…WHY would you even attempt to have an affair?! Okay, this might be a very unpopular opinion, but I’m going to say it anyway. In Raye’s case, I feel like she knew she needed to leave. She CHOSE not to leave because she wanted the lifestyle Don provided. She wanted the financial stability. She wanted the status. And she wanted it badly enough that she trained herself to overlook everything else that came with it.
So are we really NOT going to hold Raye accountable for her choices? That by no way give Don an excuse to do what he did to her.
Then you have Link. LINK, YOUR SPIRIT WAS NOT RIGHT! 😂 You had a jealous heart and an envious soul. You wanted something that wasn’t yours, and you wanted it the easy way. The only easy way you knew how to get what you wanted was to take Don out. And look where that got you! Because the crazy part is, as they all eventually learned, if they had just stayed loyal to Don, they would have been FED. They would have continued eating. They would have continued making money.
But the minute they decided to take the head off the snake, everything fell apart.
Now DJ? DJ was LOYAL AS HELL! 😂 DJ basically said, “I don’t want NO parts of this foolishness!” And honestly, I respected him for that. He knew exactly what type of situation he was in, and he stayed in his lane. I really liked DJ because he was a real one. He continued moving according to the plan and didn't allow himself to get caught up in everybody else's foolishness.
And Don’s mama, Giselle? Oh, she was a REAL ONE too. Because regardless of how unhinged, trifling, and straight-up trash-bag her son was, she made one thing clear: that is still her son, and she loves him. And I actually appreciated that perspective. She wasn't necessarily blind to who Don was, but she was still his mother. And that unconditional love came through strongly.
Overall, this was such a good read! I was genuinely hooked from beginning to end. The story kept me guessing, and I really enjoyed how the characters were written. Nobody was completely innocent, and everybody had their own motivations, flaws, and consequences to deal with.
And that’s what made this one so entertaining for me.
This book deserves WAY more attention than it’s getting! If you’re looking for a quick paranormal read with unhinged characters, betrayal, drama, and a storyline that will have you questioning everybody’s decisions, definitely pick this one up.

Chile Urania has done it again. I absolutely did not see that ending coming. Link and Raye thought they could take Don’s crown but once the king of NY always the king of NY. He’s proven that so why try him…But they played with the wrong one

Whew honey
This was crazy good. Oh how that plot twist twisted. I loved every bit of this book. The betrayal, the revenge, the reveals, the way it all went down. Great read.
