America's Nightmare

Rate this book
When Madelyn Awalt purchased a D.R. Horton home in Texas, it was supposed to be the American Dream. What she got instead was a nightmare of cut corners, shoddy building practices, and countless defects hidden behind new walls.

In this shocking true story, she recounts her family's struggle against a construction giant that valued profits over integrity and a broken system that enabled the dysfunction.

The final chapter offers homeowner resources for recognizing red flags and seeking accountability.

Thank you, Madelyn, for sharing your study, and I know it comes as small consolation, but I am sorry for what you and your family have, and continue to, go through. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, and hopefully, more people come forward when these problems exist. When people pay as much as they do for homes, they need to make sure all protocols are followed, and all problems addressed with the home before the family moves in. Unfortunately, they did not in your case. Thanks for standing up for your rights, and making the world a better place. I am so proud of you!
