The clock struck midnight, but when Prince Charming is a detective, he has no problem hunting down his mafia Cinderella in this spicy holiday retelling by Top 35 Best Selling author Jill Ramsower.
Sachi I was trapped in a nightmarish conversation when a gorgeous man in a masquerade mask saved me with a kiss.
He pretended to be my date. He danced with me. Enchanted me. Then, invited me home with him.
It was supposed to be a delicious night of anonymity.
I never expected our paths to cross the very next day. Me with my Mafia friends, and him … the police detective.
What to expect from Mistletoe Masquerade:
Cinderella story Holiday Masquerade ball Secret identity One-night stand Alpha hero Jealous/possessive hero Law enforcement Billionaire For those of you who are new to me, I write what I'd call "mafia lite." My heroes are hardened criminals with soft spots for their heroines. There may be violence and cruelty in my books, but never between the main characters. Enjoy!
Jill is a Texan, born and raised. She manages the hectic social calendars for her three active children and occasionally spends an evening with her dashing husband. Aside from being an author and a mom, she's a travel junkie and loves to read when she is not lost in her own stories.
With Jill’s books, you can count on confident heroines, plenty of steamy tension, and deliciously assertive leading men. There are no guarantees in life, but with her books, you know everything will work out in the end. However, a perfect ending would not be nearly as satisfying without a seemingly insurmountable challenge. Jill loves to add plenty of adversity in her stories, creating unforgettably dynamic characters and sneaky plot twists you will never see coming.
4.25 ⭐️’s- This was my first Jill Ramsower book, and it definitely won’t be my last! This standalone Christmas novella with a Cinderella retelling completely stole my heart. I loved the festive mafia twist, and now I’m so excited to jump into book one of this series. Highly recommend! 🎄✨
took my heart, dipped it in glitter, kissed it under a chandelier at midnight, and then threw it straight into a cinnamon-scented, mafia-tinged Christmas fever dream and I LOVED EVERY SECOND.
Dean and Sachi… I am feral. I am unwell. I am still fanning myself like some Victorian woman who just witnessed ankle. The masquerade kiss?? The way he just steps in and pretends to be her date like he’s been waiting his whole life for this exact moment?? I was SCREAMING. This man wasn’t just alpha—he was alpha with PURPOSE. Kissing-for-rescue should be its own trope and Jill Ramsower just perfected it.
And then the next day??? The WHIPLASH of realizing Prince Charming is actually Detective Prince Charming and Sachi is rolling with her mafia crew??? I swear I had to put the book down and laugh because the CHAOS. The TENSION. The “oh no, we slept together and now we’re on opposite sides of the law” goodness??? Inject it straight into my bloodstream.
Dean being jealous and possessive in that low, simmering, mine kind of way?? Sachi being this perfect blend of bold and vulnerable??? Their chemistry is not sparks—it is a full electrical fire. Someone call emergency services (but not Dean, he’s busy making eyes at his mafia Cinderella).
The Cinderella vibes?? Immaculate. The holiday masquerade ball?? I could SEE the twinkle lights. The secret identity + one-night-stand collision?? DELICIOUS. The law-enforcement-meets-billionaire-meets-mafia-lite chaos??? Chef’s kiss.
This book is EXACTLY what I want when I want to sink into a festive, spicy, high-stakes romance with a hero who would burn down Christmas just to keep his girl safe. Jill Ramsower’s mafia lite world hits that perfect balance—danger swirling around the edges but never touching the heart of the romance. And Dean and Sachi’s romance? Perfection.
I’m still swooning. I’m still grinning. I’m still thinking about that masquerade kiss.
Thank you to @hambright_pr and @jillramsowerauthor for providing me with an eARC of this fast-paced novella in exchange for an honest review.
🤍 Sachi is looking for a night of fun when she attends a masquerade dressed in a stunning white gown adorned with festive Christmas details. There, she encounters a mysterious gentleman in a black tuxedo, one who immediately catches her attention. Sachi has been searching for this masked man she glimpsed some time ago, and when he finally approaches her, the connection between them is instant and intense. 🌶️
Neither of them anticipates what comes next.
As the story unfolds, Sachi finds herself in a difficult position, realizing she may have to choose between her friends and this unexpected, newfound love. The stakes rise quickly, keeping the tension high until the very end.
This was another read outside of my usual comfort zone, and I’m so glad I gave it a chance! Mistletoe Masquerade is mysterious, spicy, and thrilling, perfect for a quick, engaging read. This novella will be marked and tracked as “read” on your list in no time! 🌶️ 🥵 🫣😂 ENJOY! #Hambrightpr #HPRMistletoeMasquerade #JillRamsower
TROPES ✨ 👠 Cinderella Story 🎭 Holiday Masquerade Ball 🤫 Secret Identity 💋 One-night stand 👑 Alpha Hero 💢 Jealous/Possessive Hero
This was my first book by Jill Ramsower and what a wonderful introduction. This is a quick, spicy holiday novella set in the Moretti Men world but was entertaining as a standalone.
Sachi is attending a masquerade event. An event like the many she has worked but always longed to attend. She is rescued from an uncomfortable conversation by the very man that could be a threat to her best friend’s family. However, their chemistry is immediate, and the sexual tension is high. She decides to let loose and give into her feelings for one night. And it’s amazing! She never expected to see him after that.
Duet narration by Persephone Lee and Connor Crais. They were perfect. You felt the connection between these two immediately and the struggles they faced with their reality.
This story packed a lot of punch in a short amount of time. It has a great balance of spicy and sweet moments. I loved the sense of found family, and it just made me curious about the rest of these characters. I can’t wait to check out more from this author.
Mistletoe Masquerade The Moretti Men 2.5 By: Jill Ramsower Narrated by: Connor Crais, Persephone Lee
This quickie hits all the right spots for me! Jill Ramsower gives us an insta-love that is spicy and impossible not to enjoy. Sachi meets Malone at a Law Enforcement event. Malone saves her from being hit on, and then the magic begins. A one night stand leads to not being able to stop thinking about each other. But he is a cop and her friends are part of the Moretti family. That can't mix, can it? Grab a copy of this now! The chemistry is off the charts and hanging with the Moretti's again is just a present that keeps giving! So much fun and the perfect holiday listen.
Connor Crais and Persephone Lee tell the story and it could not have been better cast. Crais as Malone has that alpha feel, very sensual and warm. Lee is Sachi, know what she wants but unsure she can have it. These two together bring the emotions out and keep the passion high. Fabulous listen!
This is a quick little holiday novella on the edges of a mafia series. Sachi is an artist who is friends with some mafia wives. Dean is an independently wealthy detective with ties to that same mafia. They meet at a masquerade holiday party and their chemistry is off the charts. One night isn’t going to be enough but can their conflicting loyalties be put aside? Of course they can, this is romance! And like all good holiday romances, there is spicy scene with a candy cane. Connor Crais is wonderful as always. Persephone Lee is new to me and does a great job of making Sachi sweet without being sappy. The book is narrated in Duet. This isn’t particularly holiday specific and could be enjoyed any time of year or put it in your TBL list for next year. Thank you to Valentine PR audio and Jill Ramsower for sending me this audiobook to listen to and review.
Connor Crais and Persephone Lee are absolutely enchanting narrating this mafia-lite, novella sized story. If you are in the mood for a good mafia story, but also desire to get in the holiday spirit, Mistletoe Masquerade was absolutely written for you. Jill Ramsower strayed a little from her usual dark and twisty romance vibe in this sweet and spicy, Cinderella themed Christmas novella, but if you have read the first two books in the Moretti Men series, you have already met our main characters, Sachi and Dean. I didn’t picture them together but their story is fun, adorable, and the perfect way to balance out the other books in this interconnected series. I’m a little sad that it was only a novella, but hopefully we’ll get to see more of them throughout the rest of the series.
This was a super quick read. I listened to it in one day, which was perfect for being the last day of the year when I was listening to it! Who doesn't love a masquerade ball with a detective and a girl who isn't even supposed to be in attendance! Sachi was so cute, she just wanted to experience one of the grand events that she does food sculpting for, and she just so happens to meet a detective. She knew who he was but he didn't know who she was. The moment when he finds out was really good, short lived since this was a novella but totally ok especially considering his grand gesture at the end! The narrators for this book were great, anything Connor Crais is going to be good though. I will likely add the rest of this series to my tbr and listen to them in the future.
I nice short novella. You don’t have to have read any of the previous books to know what’s going on. I liked seeing the connection between Sachi and Dean. The spice is oh so nice. I wish there were more to the story at the end but as a novella I get it. Persephone Lee and Connor Crais did a fantastic job with the duet narration on the audiobook. They really brought the story to life. I would definitely listen to this book again.
This is a quick read with spice, mafia, and opposites-attract elements. FMC reminded me of Cinderella at the ball and found her prince charming. She is conflicted by her budding love and the friends that are her family. MMC is a wonderful hottie who knows himself and tries to win FMC heart. This book deserves a recommendation. Quick read for trips or wanting to fill in a gap of time.
ARC and ALC Review: Duet narration by Persephone Lee and Connor Crais
Tropes: Cinderella Story retelling Masquerade Ball Secret Identity One-night stand Alpha Hero Jealous/Possessive MMC
This felt like a holiday Cinderella fantasy dipped in spice and mafia-lite intrigue, and it worked beautifully—especially on audio.
Persephone Lee and Connor Crais were delightful. Their performances made Sachi and Dean’s chemistry leap right out of the story. From their first encounter, the tension was electric, their attraction undeniable, and their connection delightfully feral.
I loved the masquerade ball setting, the secret identities, and the way a one-night stand turned into something far more complicated once a detective and a mafia-adjacent artist realized exactly who they were dealing with.
This story was swoony, spicy, and immersive, and I genuinely didn’t want it to end. This was my first Jill Ramsower book, and it definitely won’t be my last.
✨ Thank you to Hambright PR and Jill Ramsower for the ARC and Valentine PR for the ALC!
