This sequel is as heart-wrenching as it is thrilling, leaving the reader anxious for the next volume to further explore Sadie’s true nature and her connection to this enigmatic world.
Isle of Sordenya by Rachel Adkins (Part 2 of Isle of Anchthia) Rachel Adkins does it again. Isle of Sordenya is a beautifully written, thrilling continuation that swept me right back into this world and refused to let go. I absolutely loved the twists and turns throughout the story, especially the deepening love story of Sadie and Lander and the way their family bond evolves. Every character feels warm, layered, and genuinely lovable — you can tell how much care the author puts into her people. Rachel’s writing is incredibly visual. She doesn’t just describe scenes — she paints them. I truly felt like I was living in Sordenya, walking through its landscapes, breathing in its mystery. The world feels modern yet magical, familiar yet deeply enigmatic. The story is highly engaging, filled with shocking revelations and moments that genuinely caught me off guard. It’s thrilling, emotional, and immersive in the best way. This book has found a permanent place in my heart. I cannot wait for Book 3 — the journey is far from over, and I’m eagerly counting the days. Highly, highly recommended. 💫📖
Isle of Sordnva completely swept me away — another easy 5-star read for me!
After that ending in book one, I could not wait to dive back in and continue the journey… and this sequel did not disappoint. The story is so beautifully unique that you instantly lose yourself in it. From the very first pages, I felt like I’d stepped straight back into this world.
The world-building is intricate and immersive, yet never overwhelming — everything unfolds so naturally and is easy to follow. We start to uncover more of the questions left lingering after book one, and I genuinely couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
I adore our main characters, and the new friendships that blossom in this instalment add so much heart to the story. Watching Sadie grow and evolve into the person she’s becoming has been such a rewarding journey. Her character development feels real, emotional, and powerful.
This series just keeps getting better, and I am already counting down the days until book three! Highly, highly recommend.
This is the second follow up book in a series :) And I cannot wait for the third book.
So, Sadie in the first book gets "infected" by Landers blood - and Sadie and his mother thinks he is dead.
Sadie, "floats up" into the land of magic -
She wakes up in a land that she cannot even fathom - a floating city - she is on the main island - in a hospital and learning that she isn't dead, and that she actually has magical blood in her body.
She wants to see if Landers survived, but never goes looking for him outright -she does finally find out about her father, that he actually is magical (thats where the bloodline came from) and he is now a famous violinist on another island. She meets a nice librarian Bridget.
Then that is where things get exciting. Ada, Landers sister - I didn't really like her - but I will have to say this - she was unpleasant because she loves Lander. And she is smart and put things together that Sadie defintely didn't.
Isle of Sordenya by Rachel Adkins is an absolutely captivating sequel that pulls readers right back into Sadie’s world without missing a beat. I loved watching Sadie explore this new location and uncover truths that challenge everything she once believed. Adkins once again proves her gift for character development, every interaction feels authentic, and Sadie’s growth is both emotional and inspiring. The reintroduction of Lander was handled so beautifully; their connection feels tender and genuine, blossoming naturally as the story unfolds. You can tell these characters have lived in the author’s imagination for a long time, their depth and emotional realism reflect that care. The final chapters perfectly set the stage for what promises to be an incredible third installment. I’m more than ready for the next book; Rachel Adkins has built a world and cast I can’t wait to revisit.
Isle of Sordenya by Rachel Adkins is a lush, atmospheric escape that blends adventure, mystery, and emotional depth in a way that feels both immersive and heartfelt. From the very first pages, the island setting comes alive wild, secretive, and almost a character in its own right.
Adkins does a wonderful job balancing intrigue with character development. The emotional stakes feel real, and the protagonist’s journey is layered with both vulnerability and strength. I especially appreciated how the story gradually reveals its secrets rather than rushing the payoff.
Overall, this is a compelling read for anyone who loves island settings, simmering tension, and stories about uncovering hidden truths.
Book type: ebook Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spicy rating:🌶️🌶️
I found the book interesting, I liked how they called people on land groundlings and that there are cities in the sky. The main character ends up reuniting with someone from when she was young, she thought was dead . The main character finds out that her magic is danerous and that she is a mausa . I love that she became part of the main male characters family. Overall I love this book and how its takes place in the sky. There were parts though that i didn’t fully understand. So that’s why i gave it four stars.

This keeps things engaging, with moments of tension, discovery, and heartfelt reflection. book 📕 was a blend of adventure, fantasy, and emotional themes like resilience and self discovery for all the characters specially Sadie . It keeps things engaging, with moments of tension, discovery, and heartfelt reflection I really enjoy the world building, the fast paced . I will definitely recommend reading and I can’t wait for book 3 .
This book yanks you in from page one. Sadie didn't think shes live and neither did I. She wakes in a whole new world. She in a completely opposite place than Ancthica. She makes friends and finds someone unexpectedly. She gains a new family that she now will do anything to protect as they will for her. I wasn't easy to get everyone's love but through work and understanding she gains so much. Sadie finds something out about herself that now has her on the run and into hiding yet again. Somethings don't change. Now in waiting of book 3.

Honestly this book didn't pull me in as much as I wanted it to. I kept telling myself one more chapter and even then it just doesn't hit for me. I wanted something more that would pull me in and I didn't get it saying that the writing is good and I give the author props it's just not my kind of book. I am grateful I got the chance to read it before it's published so thank you to the author for letting me be a part of this journey!
WOOOOOOOW! I really enjoyed book one, but this book blew my mind. I’m obsessed with Lander and his sentimental cannonball. Sadie is so realistic and relatable and I love her for that. This story was so captivating right up until the very end! The last sentence leaves me wanting book three now !
Arc reader- Firstly read the first book !! This book was amazing at progressing the story line. I got lost in it and had to put it down a few times in order to come back to reality- lol. I can’t wait to read more about the main character ( won’t be giving spoilers)!!
