Aspen Heat #1

A Spark For You

Rate this book
I crashed into him at full speed.

Literally crashed. Skis flying, poles airborne, dignity obliterated.

And when I finally untangled myself from the most attractive man I'd ever seen—all dark stubble, piercing blue eyes, and muscles I had no business noticing—he had exactly two words for

"Stop. Moving.”

Turns out, the grumpy snowboarder I'd just demolished was Liam Cross. Olympic gold medalist. Recently disgraced athlete. And, apparently, my new ski instructor.

One week of lessons. That's all I need to get through without falling and making a fool of myself…again.

But Liam has other ideas. And when he looks at me like that—like he's torn between kissing me and telling me to go away—I start to think falling might not be the worst thing I could do.

Even if the whole world is watching.

A Spark For You is short and spicy holiday romance featuring a crash that changes everything, a hero who's done with the spotlight, and a heroine determined to stay upright (in more ways than one).

Book one in the Aspen Heat series.

This was a sweet and spicy novella. Liam and Harper could melt the snow on the bunny hill. I’ve never read a novella like this and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. They literally crashed into one another on the ski slope. Harper was having a getaway with some friends. And Liam was an Olympic skier who was looking for some downtime from the celebrity life. He agrees to give her some lessons while they’re both there. The sparks start to fly between the two of them but he’s reserved because of an ex.
Overall I loved this. Just wish it was a little longer.

This is a short novella which is a debut story by this author and she gets high marks for writing a cute and steamy strangers to love her story that is fun and a quick read.
Harper/FMC, is on vacay with friends, dealing with a bad breakup and believes she is a better skier than she is
Liam/MMC, is a handsome former Olympian, graced tabloid headlines more than he likes and wants to live in anonymity while teaching snowboarding to resort guests.
Their lives come crashing (literally) together when Harper attempts the Bunny Hill and it proves too much for her and Liam agrees to be her private instructor to teach her the right skills and to avoid any other collisions.
Liam is still guarding his heart after his ex sold their intimate moments for fame and money, so he is cautious and questions Harper's every motive. Though Harper wants him to give friendship and a relationship with her a try after sparks fly during skiing lessons and any time their eyes meet at the resort. Their snarky banter and steamy affair is all it takes for Harper and Liam to go for the gold towards a commitment that makes them both happy and taking second chances on love.

For sure, 3.5 stars. A heartfelt story with a sweet premise, but certain scenes felt like they could have been more fully developed. Still, the emotional core works and the writing style is pleasant. I loved that it was different than all the other Christmasy books I have read lately, I just wish it had a little more to it.

Given how short this story is, I didn't expect much depth or sweetness between Liam and Harper. I love their relationship and pleasantly surprised how much depth they had even with the how quick it all developed. I wish there would have been a bit more, like revenge against his ex because she is a C**U**N**T. But it was so cute how they ended up together.
