A Supreme Court nominee hiding a career-breaking secret... Two giant tech companies locked in a legal fight to the death...

An old espionage scandal that never quite faded away...

A father determined to save his son from wrongful conviction...

Harvard scholarship student Steven Adler has been framed by the wealthy and influential Calevetti family. Nick Calevetti committed murder, but it is Steven Adler who faces a life in prison. His father, Allan, knows he can't possibly afford the legal team necessary to fight the entire Calevetti family, and in desperation he turns to a weapon he never thought he would use. Allan Adler is the one man in the world who knows the truth about Supreme Court nominee Getty Fairfield...and Allan will do anything to save his son.

Unbeknownst to him, however, other forces are at work in regard to Fairfield's appointment. The two largest and most powerful software corporations in the country are waiting on a Supreme Court judgment, and both are willing to bribe, steal, or murder to get a favorable decision. When Allan throws himself into their path, he may not be able to get out of the way in time.

Viens pārgalvīgs brauciens nakts laikā, turklāt vēl reibumā izmaina divu jaunu vīriešu dzīves, kad nejauši tiek aizķerts garāmgājējs, bet ne tuvu nejauša nav Stīvena līdz tam par draugu saktā drauga Nika rīcība, kurš līdz šim dzīvē ir paļāvies uz vecāku turības vairoga spēku. Bet ne vienam ne otram, nedz upurim šajā grāmatās sižetā būtiskas lomas nebūs.

A good old-fashioned hugger-mugger about shady dealings at all levels of society and government. A kid from a poor family is dozing in the car on the way back to Harvard from New York City when his friend, a kid from a very wealthy family, hits a man on the highway. Steven, the poor kid, goes to help the victim, but his wealthy friend beats the man to death. Then of course he pins it all on Steven, whose family can't possibly afford the kind of superstar defense attorney he needs. Then Steven's father, who used to be a military driver for Pentagon bigwigs, recalls a secret affair one Washington bigwig had... This is the crux of the story. We hardly hear anything more about the car accident -- it's all about Steven's dad, Allan, trying to secure and leverage the information he needs to get the money to save his son, while the most powerful men in the country, industrialists and politicos, try their utmost to lock all that information down for themselves. Really fast-paced and a very good read.

I'm not into politics so maybe that's why I didn't really like this book, it had some decent parts but I ended up skimming a lot b/c I was bored.
