Murder at Christkindlmarkt is a super charming and immersive read that instantly transports the reader into the heart of Vienna's iconic Christkindlmarkt. The narrative follows food journalist Darcy, her sharp-eyed photographer pal Lizzie, and Darcy's beloved schnoodle, Mozart, as they find themselves in the Austrian capital just as the holiday season's magic takes a dark turn.

The central event of their visit is the grand unveiling of a magnificent, hand-carved wooden carousel. This impressive piece of craftsmanship was commissioned and paid for by the philanthropic and powerful businessman, Klaus Kroner. However, the celebratory atmosphere is brutally shattered when the ceremony ends in tragedy: Klaus Kroner is found crushed to death beneath the very carousel he funded.

Though her good friend Marcus Evans, who works for the international police force, Interpol, explicitly warns her to stay out of the police investigation, Darcy's journalistic curiosity—and her strong sense of justice—compels her to start digging. This impulse is further cemented when her perceptive dog, Mozart, who seems to possess an uncanny ability to sniff out trouble, uncovers some key, subtle hints that the official inquiry might be missing.

Darcy's list of potential suspects is as intriguing as the setting. It includes Otto, the master craftsman who meticulously carved the carousel and who might harbour resentment or possess a motive linked to the commission. Then there is Lukas, Otto's young and ambitious apprentice, whose loyalty and professional ambitions could be questioned. Helene, the highly organized and seemingly unflappable manager of the entire Christkindlmarkt, also falls under suspicion, perhaps knowing more about the market's inner workings and Klaus's dealings than she lets on. Finally, there is Greta, the head of the local orphanage that Klaus was intending to fund with a significant donation, creating a complex financial and emotional motive.

As Darcy, Lizzie, and Mozart skilfully chase down leads—from secret meetings in cosy coffee houses to shadowed corners of the festive market—the reader is treated to a genuinely lovely and detailed tour of Vienna. The city itself becomes a character, with its glittering lights, spiced wine, and festive traditions providing a beautiful, yet increasingly tense, backdrop to the murder investigation.

This is a thoroughly fun, cosy mystery. It masterfully balances the warmth of the holiday season and the picturesque setting with a genuinely compelling crime. The story is populated with a bunch of believable suspects, each with a plausible motive, which ensures the mystery kept this reader guessing right up to the very last, satisfying page.

A trip to wonderful Vienna is on the cards for Darcy Finnegan and her Schnoodle Mozart as well as her friend and partner in crime Lizzie ,not forgetting her beau who makes her dizzy. Marcus Evans is an Interpol Agent and he’s also on the trail of this case though they’re supposed to take time away a little holiday …this one is urgent. The infamous Christkindlmarkt is where the mystery and fun does start . There’s event proceedings being planned meticulously,it’s going to be grand ,with the carousel a highlight of the day’s infamy. A food lover’s symphony ,and with the eats ,all treats to feast on, these besties are sure to have some fun. Lizzie will get some great food blogs in with the tastings and photos taken to document the event too. But now look what has happened ! The event underway and so then the carousel but all is not well with the world when the Carousel came crashing off kilter a horse, a cause of discourse came away to kill!? Huh? Oh no ,here we go. But who’d want this man dead? It’s the biggest event of the season so what’s the reason behind it all? Well the team are about to tell us how it plays outs and what needed to be done . Nothing stopping them at the same time having some fun. Maybe eat some delicious dishes for the blog of course as Lizzie photographs every course and snack that they devour ,even those of the run up scenes and on the hour of the crime ,because it surely is ,though not thought so at the time. An accident doesn’t happen like this ,and now a man dead a sad business ,with the Christkindlmarkt under threat of not going ahead . The team pool their resources to get ahead of the puzzle ,even Mozart has a part to play when he’s not using a takeout tray of food as a muzzle! Bravo Greta Sinclair ,this was so immersing ,I could feel and smell what was happening on the page with your excellently vivid descriptions of the surroundings and the characters? Astounding, from the first grounding out chapters to the breakdown of the clues . It’s not news when I say that Hreta Sinclair is a whiz with her mighty wit and pen and has the skill to immerse us in. This storyline is divine ,it really is . The premise is a promise to delight with descriptions out of sight good as I knew they would be and what a great mystery . The setting is vibrant and the victim was something of a tyrant who we grew to view with distaste as we unravel the case along with the cast. I don’t mind telling ,this book was compelling, I had a blast . The streets of Vienna are safe once more thanks to the stellar cast , we adore who weren’t too hasty to get the job done and those tasty eats are surely worth going for a visit to its streets for everyone.

Darcy, a food journalist, Lizzie, her photographer friend, and her schnoodle Mozart are in Vienna for Christkindlmarktl. Their first visit there makes me want to visit Vienna at Christmas, all the sights, sounds and smells. It is very enticing. Greta Sinclair is a very descriptive writer and many times I felt like I was there.
At the market, they meet up with their friend Marcus Evans, an Interpol agent. He won’t tell them much but he is helping the local police. The big attraction this year is a carousel with hand carved horses. They were carved by Otto a craftsman with many years experience carving wooden decorations and toys. His apprentice Lukas helped. The carousel was funded by Klaus Kroner who wants it to be a big production. Unfortunately, when it is starting up, something goes terribly wrong and Klaus gets crushed.
Even though Marcus tells her not to get involved, Darcy can’t help herself especially when Mozart sniffs out some clues. They have quite a list of suspects with Otto being at the top. Lukas is also there. Helene is the organizer of the market and signs off on the carousel even though Andrias says he needs more time to check everything. Greta is the manager of the orphanage that was supposed to get funding from Klaus. She is starting to feel like he just uses the orphans for photo opportunities.
Darcy, Lizzie and Mozart lead us through many sights and take us to many restaurants and delightful coffee shops while they are following the clues. It was a good mystery with several plausible suspects and I didn’t guess the murderer until close to the end.
I received a free copy of this book and found it to be a good Christmas read.

It's the most wonderful time of the year in the enchanting land of Darcy and Mozart. Darcy, Mozart, and their friend Lizzie have ventured to Vienna to immerse themselves in the captivating Christkindlmarkt. Their mission: to savor the renowned delicacies and admire the handcrafted treasures for Darcy's blog.

However, their culinary adventure takes an unexpected turn when a man is found crushed under a carousel, sparking a mystery that Darcy and Mozart are determined to unravel. With the bustling market offering a plethora of potential suspects, the duo sets out to uncover the truth, sifting through clues and unraveling secrets.

The vivid descriptions transport the reader directly to the heart of the market, where the sights, sounds, and aromas come alive. One can almost feel the bustling energy, the dazzling decorations, and the tempting array of delectable offerings at each stall, creating an immersive experience for the reader.

I was completely absorbed in the plot by the anticipation of what occurred. I was curious as to what happened to the unfortunate man who was discovered beneath the carousel. While attempting to put everything together, my thoughts were all over the place. As I waited for everything to be disclosed, I was unable to flip the pages quickly enough.

To every lover of mysteries, I heartily suggest Murder at Christkindlmarkt! For another fantastic trip to the world of Darcy and Mozart, get your hands on a copy of Murder at Christkindlmarkt right now!

Another great adventure for Darcy Finnegan with Mozart her Schnoodle dog and Lizzie Hayes her photographer. This time we are going to Vienna for the Christmas Market with Darcy’s boyfriend Interpol Agent Marcus Evans. They are hoping that this will be just a nice holiday for them all with out any trouble but as usual that is not what happens. Because as they are all walking threw the market, they stop to watch a new carousel that is being opened on the first night of the Christkindlmarkt and watch as suddenly the carousel crushes the big sponsor of festival. Agent Marcus Evans steps in to help the local police as they are short handed with the holidays and he can help keep everyone back from the accident until it can be roped off so no one can get to close. Well Marcus is busy with that Darcy & Lizzie start to look around to see what is going on around them. There are a few people who could have had something to do with this accident but first they must talk with everyone as they go along. There are lots of clues to be found and try figure out who is to blame for this accident. Once you start to read this book it is hard to put down until you have finished it. I am looking forward to their next adventure. I would recommend any of Greta Sinclair book if you liked great mysteries with lots of twists and turns.

When international food critic Darcy Finnegan, her Schnoodle Mozart and her best friend, photographer Lizzie Hayes, travel to Vienna, Austria, to review the famous Christkindlmarkt, they expect to find fabulous food and wonderful handcrafted toys.
But, then the newly unveiled “Carousel of Wonders” collapses and Klaus Kroner, “Toy King of Europe” is found crushed beneath it.
Kroner is a thoroughly unlikeable person who has made his fortune from the labors of others. Consequently, there are numerous suspects.
Fortunately, Darcy's boyfriend, Interpol Agent Marcus Evans, is on the scene and Darcy, Mozart and Lizzie are determined to uncover the truth about the murder.
This is one of my favorite books in the Darcy and Mozart Cozy Culinary Mystery series! The author's descriptions of Vienna, the Christkindlmarkt and the food drew me into the story from the beginning and I couldn't put it down!
The plot twists kept me guessing until the surprising conclusion and I can't wait to try the recipe at the end of the book!
I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy and I am excited to leave this voluntary review.

Darcy’s clever like that: always gets invited to the best places at the best times — and she calls it work! But it seems Lizzie doesn’t mind. And a Christmas market in Vienna — what’s not to like?
The story, although a murder (no spoilers — clue’s in the title!) is carefully told, aromas of Glühwein and Lebkuchen woven through it.
Suspects line up when the grand opening of a carousel goes awry: is it a health and safety issue or something more? And is there something more sinister at play because Marcus is on some sort of special assignment?
Old traditions are strong in the market and old crafts revered and treasured. Make-a-fast-buck entrepreneurs are not especially tolerated.
I was a little concerned about Mozart — he seems to be sneezing a lot. Alright if he’s just sussing out clues, but still…
Greta’s stories all have a depth, bringing you into the action and sensing the atmosphere. Christmas might well lend itself to that immersion but Greta certainly works it to the reader’s advantage.
An incredibly satisfying ending… brilliant!

Food blogger Darcy Finnegan travels to Vienna to write about their Christkindlmarkt, but she is drawn into an investigation when a well-known businessman is murdered. Along with Interpol agent and boyfriend Marcus Evans, Darcy is determined to get to the truth behind this crime.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this installment of the Darcy and Mozart cozy. Sinclair has a wonderful way with words and I felt like I was in Vienna, experiencing everything along with Darcy. The mystery was intriguing and the twists and turns had me invested in the story. I love the friendship between Darcy and Lizzie and her romance with Marcus is appealing. I loved the surprise at the end of the book! Sinclair also provides a glossary of the German words used throughout the story and even includes a recipe for Lebkuchen. This is a wonderful read and I encourage cozy mystery lovers to read not only this book, but the others in the series.

Another culinary event, another murder!

Once again, Darcy, Lizzie and Mozart are at a culinary event. This time, they’re visiting the Christkindlmarkt in Vienna when there’s another murder. Luckily, Marcus is with them and even though he does his best to keep Darcy out of the investigation, she still manages to go off on her own to figure out who killed the man who screwed everyone over. There are plenty of suspects this time around as well. These stories are always so well written, that they just pull me in and keep me turning pages long past the time I should stop. The plots are always well thought out and I never figure out whodunit until the very end. There were a few surprises thrown in this one too. I highly recommend anything by Greta Sinclair, you won’t be disappointed!

An atmospheric gem and a new favorite! This series is very descriptive and this case, set during a European Christmas Market, took me right back to the special mugs of gluhwein, pink noses, and Krampus sightings of a European trip I was lucky enough to take.

Fortunately we didn’t experience a collapsed carousel and murder, but you can. The main character, Darcy, there writing about the food experiences, gets involved in the murder and investigation. With her bestie photographer pal Lizzie, and clever Schnoodle Mozart, helping the handsome FBI Agent Marcus try to uncover the truth with so many suspects, it’s a great read.

As an ARC reader I’ve had the pleasure of reading several of these stories and this is really an interesting read, especially during the Christmas season!

Christmas market calamity
Darcie, Lizzie, Mozzie and Marcus are in Vienna, Marcus to do Interpol investigating and the rest to report sights, sounds and flavours of the market. At the unveiling of a fancy carousel, the subject of some controversy, nasty businessman Klaus Kroner is crushed when the carousel fails. How did this happen and who is responsible? Darcy, Lizzie and Mozart run their own investigation alongside the official one which Marcus is assisting. A twisty mystery surrounded by the well described Christmas market and many pastries that made my mouth water helped make this a fine addition to this series.

Germany at Christmas is just heaven especially at Christkindlmarkt. So many twinkling lights, things to buy, and of course food to eat. Darcy, and of course Lizzie and Mozart are here to shop and eat. Murder isn't supposed to happen even if they find themselves surrounded by that normally. However when a person is found crushed beneath the gears of a new carousel the gang along with Interpol agent Marcus has to investigate to see what happened. As usual a lot of suspects for all kinds of reasons. The reader is brought directly into the story and feels like they are in Germany seeing all of the things at the market. Another lovely adventure!.

Darcy, Lizzie, and Mozart are in Austria for the Christkindlmarkt and are getting ready to witness the grand carousal being presented for the first time. Unfortunately, the carousal falls apart within minutes of being turned on. Marcus from Interpol is also in the city and Darcy can't help herself but immediately starts to investigate the crash and the people that built it. She also come in contact with Greta who runs the local orphanage. Lots of people to talk to and poor Lizzy gets drug into all kinds of things, this time not all food related, but they find their way through the village.

I absolutely loved this book, mainly for the feeling of being in Germany at the Christkindlemarkt - I could imagine myself right in the middle of everything! This series is so compelling with all the different locations that are described so much so that I feel like I'm right there, in the book. Throw in a great sidekick, Mozart, and it gets better. The storyline was surprising, I usually figure out the mystery before the middle of the story, however, this time it threw me. A great adventure without leaving my home.

Murder at Christkindlmarkt (A Darcy and Mozart Cozy Culinary Mystery) could have been taken right out of the news. Murder at a Christmas Market could be a single event or something much more sinister. Darcy Finnegan, Mozart, Lizzie, along with Interpol Agent Marcus Evans go from shopping and experiencing the wonderful Christkindlmarkt to solving a murder mystery. The death is a strange one indeed. I love Greta Sinclair’s Darcy and Mozart Series. Murder at Christkindlmarkt is a marvelous addition to the series.

Darcy Finnegan is such a wonderful mouthful of a name. Darcy, Lizzie, Mozart and Marcus are off again. This time to Vienna. Yum, the food sounds delightful and being Christmas time...wonderful handcrafted toys wooden toys.
A trail of cinnamon and sawdust and lies...and smells of gingerbread...
Always written well and entertaining plots. Always, Mozart, the clever Schnoodle, assists in finding evidence. Marcus does try to get Darcy to not interfere, but Darcy is a very nosy culinary blogster.
Forgiveness has a flavor! And don't forget to "let the dough rest overnight" So enjoyed.

Greta Sinclair is a new to me author. This retiree enjoys reading traveling the world with a food critic Darcy, her best friend Lizzie and clue-sniffing Schnoodle Mozart. This German American retiree enjoys visiting the Vienna Christkindlmarkt from the comfort of her home. Greta Sinclair's descriptive writing and inclusion of German words gives the mystery an authentic feel. Plan to read more stories in A Darcy and Mozart Cozy Culinary Mystery series. A Taste of Vienna: Traditional Lebkuchen history and recipe is included.

A Christmas market is on almost everyone's bucket list but to have someone kick the bucket at one is not. Crushed by a carousel is definitely not the weapon you would expect either as Darcy and her dog Mozart helps her sniff out the clues.

With no shortage of suspects as the actions of the victim almost makes it seem like karma caught up with him. The question is did someone help it along.

Superb story!

Another superb story with Darcy, Lizzie, Marcus and Mozart caught up in an unusual murder investigation.  The carousel was to be magical, but magic turned to tragic.  The suspects are all good, caring people, so who is the guilty party.  I love the plot, the characters and as always, the fascinating information regarding the country where the investigation takes place.  A story well worth reading.

Another charming mystery for Darcy and Lizzie - and lets not forget Mozart - to get involved in despite the warnings to stay out of it from Marcus. The descriptions of the market brought back some lovely memories for me as we used to live in Germany, lovely.
The story, as usual, was well written and I'm so glad Marcus got round to asking that particular question! Bring on the next book, can't wait to see what happens next.

Murder at Christkindlmarkt is absolutely fantastic. Greta Sinclair always puts so much thought and research into her work. Each of her stories makes you want to visit the locations and experience everything for yourself. But, if you can’t go personally, Greta writes in a way that makes you feel like you are actually there and that you’re experiencing all of the sights, sounds and smells. A 10 star must read. I highly recommend getting a copy for your library.

A story told the right way. This is a story of taste, smell, emotion, and love of Vienna. The characters are vivid, the plot is easily followed, and the premise is finding out the truth about why a carousel collapsed and a very greedy man died. There are plenty of suspects, lots of motive, and a man who literally worshipped the money he made and made sure he would continue to make it in perpetuity. Karma saw things differently. I definitely highly recommend this story.

Darcy, Lizzie and Mozart come to Vienna to visit the Christkindlmarkt and enjoy the culinary delights of the city, not to get involved in a murder investigation.

Ego, fears, livelihoods are at stake and a deprived orphanage makes innocent people into possible suspects. Agent Marcus Evans, Darcy and her troupe have their hands full to find the truth.

Murder at Christkindlmarkt was an outstanding tale from beginning to end. Greta Sinclair uses words like Monet used color, giving us a vibrant portrayal of Vienna in winter. I loved the story so much! I laughed, I cried, and at the end, I wept (good tears). Then, I smiled as I gratefully thought about the redemption and forgiveness that is the spiritual essence of Christmas.
