The Wolf's Bride: Classic

Rate this book
She was supposed to be invisible. Fate made her unforgettable.

Born into the powerful Bellamy clan, Laticia “Argo” Bellamy knows exactly where she stands—at the bottom. An Omega in a family of dominant wolf changelings, she’s spent her life as a quiet shadow, cleaning floors instead of claiming a place in their world. Graduation is her one hope of freedom… as long as she stays unnoticed.

Then the Scottish alphas arrive—and everything changes.

An Alpha who sees what she’s been taught to hide…

A political alliance forces Argo into a ceremony meant to benefit her father, not her. But the moment Ewan McKillan lays his icy gaze on her, the ground shifts. His touch awakens something she’s spent her whole life suppressing—a dangerous pull, a craving she doesn’t want, and a power she never knew she carried.

As tensions rise between clans, Argo becomes the key to a truth buried in blood and tradition… one that could reshape the fate of wolves on both sides of the sea.

Destiny is calling.

But will she run from it—or rise as the Wolf’s Bride?

*****Spoilers*****

This book was difficult to get through because of the writing. Argo is an Omega in a wolf pack and is treated like a servant to the lack and her family. Her father is the Alpha of the pack so she gets the reside in her home, but she basically serves everyone. Argo is 17 but soon turns 18 and is looking forward to graduating from high school so she can go to college and live with and pretend to be human. Her father throws a wrinkle in her plan though when he brings another pack to their lands to join and announces that Argo is to marry Ewan of the Scottish pack. I don't remember ever learning his age. Argo runs and jumps off a cliff to try and commit suicide but Ewan jumps in and saves her. From there, Argo and Ewan build a relationship after they agree to a bargain where Argo will give him the businesses he needs to control the pack and she can leave for school. By the end of the book Argo decides to stay and there are a lot of shocking revelations that are interesting tea.

The book has good ideas. However, it's too difficult to appreciate the story with all of the issues. Consistency throughout the book is lacking as well as the emotional depth the book should have given what happens in the pages. Within the same sentence, tense changes several times. Scenes are not broken up in any meaningful way so I was left confused when Argo and Ewan showering together became a meeting with her father in the next paragraph. Word choice and usage was atrocious, particularly when it came to descriptive words for actions. Argo goes from a meek woman who always keeps her head down to suddenly defiant, fierce, and dominant. One of the revelations at the end is that she is actually a female Alpha and so is her mother/sister Cora. Turns out the woman who raised her as her mom is actually her sister. Even trying to learn the how of it was hard to follow with the writing in this book. In the end, Argo's father just leaves the pack to find whoever could replace Cora's memories and suddenly Argo is in charge. Of an outdated male dominated pack that doesn't believe in having women rule, her new husband's additional members aside, mindsets that entrenched don't change that fast. I'll stop there but with a good editor I think this book could be wonderful.

Book had potential. Even the rhythm felt a little off I still enjoyed the book. I appreciated the author’s to narrate a story which didn’t follow the usual pattern of a female lead character to be portrayed as a meek and stupidly in love.

Furthermore I liked how Argo continually fought for her freedom while being open to new possibilities. I’m glad Ewan had to earn her love. Her family was despicable yet products of their greedy, entitled and opportunistic culture. It was hard to have any empathy for them. This is why Argo’s character was refreshing

The Wolf's Bride: Classic

Author started book off like the storyline was set in the 17th century. The way Argo was treated was another thing, they kept showing moments of strength and then handmaid servant. Ewan was no better.

Listen, I only gave this book 4 stars because I believe I’m in a reading slump and this one was easy to finish.
I didn’t really like the third-person pov. Made it feel like I had no emotional or any connection to the actual character. Happy for her ending though!
