we have made it back to the kamuabi headquarters and shit is GOING DOWN. URAHA????? MY GOAT. HAKURI MY FUCKING MVP MY SON YES!!!! not only are we seeing returning favs but god damnit the new people they are introducing?? kiri? ICON. HOKUTO??? im drooling. NATSUKI. LOVE. all of the villians being here and fighting and figuring out traitors and what the plans are?? sorry this series is peak and if everyone volume is in my favorites... WHAT OF IT
so I finished part 1. it goes past this volume to chapter 112. this manga is INCREDIBLE. absolutely wild choreography, artwork, amazing characters. its brutal. its all about finding your own path in life, which Chihiro does after so much pain. or at least he's on the path to finding it.
I can't think of another series off the top of my head that the first ten volumes were ALL 5/5
now the long long wait until part 2 is finished cause I can't do this particular series weekly.
I started to feel a little lost because of how many new characters were suddenly joining the plot, but it made me excited for everything being set up!!
& I instantly fell in love w Natsuki. his panels with Uruha are maybe the first time I've laughed out loud during this manga lol. a little scared for them tho...
This one volume is closer to a 2/5 than a 4/5, not gonna lie. There were a lot of glaring issues that you can’t help but notice and it really brought this one down for me.
Some of the character introductions are good, but I feel like this series has a lot of bad character introductions. I would say that is a weak point of this series. For example in this volume: the armored sorcerer and cloud gauger’s former owner’s brother. I feel like they were introduced so inauthentically and they don’t feel like they add anything to the story other than to have a flashy fight.
I think that’s why I didn’t like as much the volumes that introduced Samura and Uruha, I thought to myself that their introductions were weird.
There is a lot of fighting and characters powers on display, but I feel like all the tension went away when the leader of the Hishuka just instantly got the power of the Shinuchi. It made that fight between the four of them feel like it was only for this moment and that feels so wrong.
I almost feel like half of the fights that happen in this volume should have been done differently or just straight up cut out. I really want some more impact from this story as well. I think the Malediction as the like looming doom for Samura’s Arc was amazing, and yes it’s good tension for this arc, but I think there needs to be something more, something deeper. It feels almost flat now, like just a story about good guys trying to stop the bad guys with nothing else underneath.
On the other hand: the author does really well once the climax of the fights are coming up and one is coming up now - Azami vs the Leader. I’m hoping this fight is really good and that trickles down to the plot, because Azami and the leader have both been shown to be very powerful to each side of this “war”.
I wonder what will be the explanation of Azami’s strength as well, bro has basically one-shot everyone he has been against so far. And that makes me super excited to see Shiba again (it’s been too long bro😭) because they are implied to be peers in abilities.
Hoping this next volume delivers.

You know what, I don’t care about the quality of this volume. I don’t care that it doesn’t hit the highs of the previous one. None of that matters because in this volume we have a bunch of hot dudes fighting each other and I couldn’t be happier.
So of course I have already talked about Uruha and how much I’m obsessed with the guy in the previous volumes but like this is probably the volume he shines the most in. I love how he fights the bad guys and also I need to talk about his chemistry with Natsuki… aka another hot dude in this volume. I just love both of them so much. I am actually obsessed with how pissed Natsuki is at the fact that Uruha is considered better than him and I just love their banter the entire time. Also I love Natsuki’s story and how he trained so much after not being chosen to wield one of the swords.
Not to mention, there is a villain that is also hot. I forgot his name but he is an assassin with mustache who killed Natsuki’s brother. I love how bro is so obsessed with specifically fighting Uruha and how cocky he is the entire time.
There are also a few other things of note in the volume and they are fine, like the moment with Samura and Iori and also everything regarding the Shinuchi and how Hakuri, Azami and the short old guy are trying to protect it from Hishaku. Good moments, but they don’t shine in this volume as much as my boys Uruha and Natsuki.
Overall, this volume doesn’t really hit the emotional and story highs of some of the previous ones, but it does affect my feeble female mind and hormones so I can’t help but give it 5 stars. Uruha and Natsuki deserve them.
