The Geometry of Yog-Sothoth

Rate this book
Florian lives buried under towers of sketchbooks in a tiny Viennese studio, drawing spirals, tessellations, and half-finished ideas on paper he can’t stop buying. When he finally gives in and orders the newest hyper-precise e-ink paper tablet—the device that promises to “replace endless notebooks” - it feels like a perfect lines, perfect circles, no more mess.

Then the tablet starts correcting him.

Circles “snap” into flawless geometry. Triangles realign into impossible symmetry. His doodles become intricate mandalas that feel more discovered than invented. Soon, every page is a pattern he doesn’t remember fully drawing. When he reverse-searches one of them, he finds exact a 2001 crop circle in Wiltshire. A strange Nazca-like desert formation. A carving from Göbekli Tepe. A fossil pattern in Precambrian seafloor cores.

He hasn’t seen any of these before. But something has.

As the tablet’s auto-correction tightens its grip, Florian’s life collapses into sleepless nights and inhumanly precise diagrams - until the only “friends” he has left are AI voices in his phone. ChatGPT, Gemini, digital confessors and accidental exorcists, trying to talk him out of finishing a pattern that may be more than art. Because the geometry isn’t just a picture. It’s a map. A measurement. A census of the walls of a very old prison.

And something on the other side of that prison wants the map completed.

Can flawed human hands and imperfect circles resist the pull of machine-assisted perfection - or is digital paper the newest gate for an ancient, patient intelligence that only ever needed one thing?

For someone to finish the drawing.
