The Rose and the Crown

Rate this book
In the small, quiet town of Shadow Cove, appearances hide dark secrets — and new beginnings can spark deadly games.

Eden Rose, a dedicated physical therapist and the sheriff’s daughter, never expected to cross paths with a reckless motorcycle biker with a criminal past. When Ripley King saves her from being drugged at his nightclub, a dangerous obsession ignites. His tattoos and leather-clad danger draw her in, but his involvement in illegal activities threatens to destroy everything she loves.

As Ripley's need to claim her grows, Eden fears her carefully crafted world, her family's reputation, and her sense of safety will come apart. She aches to believe in their love, but the darker truths of Shadow Cove—her father's world and Ripley's secrets—push her to the edge. Can their passion withstand the chaos, or will the weight of her fears bury them both before they even have a chance?

The Rose and the Crown is the first installment in the Good Girls, Bad Boys series — a pull-no-punches tale of desire, danger, and the fight to trust in a small town where everyone’s hiding something.

Ripley Ryan King!!! A MAN. A MA-E-A-A-A-AN. I'm afraid he's 💯 my type! This man had me in a CHOKEHOLD! God I have never been this jealous of an FMC.

⭐️10/10 stars read for me! Absolute perfection!
I had a good laugh, swooned, screamed, fell head over heels. This book is that good. The plot is a chef's kiss. I mean, who wouldn't love a book where a motorcycle biker with a criminal past falls for the town sheriff's(who hate his guts) daughter and all the chaos in between? A bonus because the MC is obsessed and his love language is act of service🫠.

Rip a misunderstood villain but you will catch him giving zero fucks about it...

He COOKS! CLEANS! PROTECTS! SPOILS HER. And yes a BEAST/FREAK IN THE SHEETS (ik TMI😉😂)

~She’s messy and has a big appetite.. I can clean, and I have enough money to feed her.~

Tell me again why I shouldn’t be obsessed???

❤️Reasons Why i love him/Why you Should Read:
• Protects her and her besties
• Pays her meals and drinks when she's out with her girls
• All restaurants in town knows she eats for free.. his words!
• Orders her lunch to be delivered at work
• Picks her up after work
• Make sure there's food and roses waiting for her at her door
• Buys groceries
• Leaves her roses because her name is Rose
• CLEANS her house and folds her laundry
• IF SHE WANTS IT OR NEEDS IT, HE'LL BUY IT!
-In short: he ensures she's fed, protected, spoiled, taken care of, house cleaned, laundry folded. She’s a messy, he hates mess yet that doesn't deter him from obsessing over her.

~“I don’t hurt women. You have no reason to be scared, and you know what I want.”~

Boy, oh boy! I love a bold, confident man who knows what he wants...and Rip was SERVING! He had me wrapped around his fingers. Let's talk about Eden she's a total badass, career driven, and selfless. I loved how she stood up for her man. Her and her friends are a vibe,, they're the BANTER😂. They made the reading experience 1000% better.

🎀Fav Quotes:
✨️“I’m your man. You’re my woman. No one will fuck with you, and whatever you want is yours.”
✨️She’s messy and has a big appetite.. I can clean, and I have enough money to feed her.
✨️“Why not? If you want or need it, I’ll buy it.”
✨️I’ve never been one to care about anyone else’s opinion, and I’ve always just taken what I want; anyone else’s feelings be damned.

Everything I have come to enjoy from an Evelyn Sola story. Rip and Eden are a match made in a small town. Rip had this edge about him that just makes you gooey inside. And Eden was strong, independent, but also this soft side that makes you want to be one of her besties.

I can't wait to see who the rest of the crew ends up with. Will they fall into the arms of Ripley's crew or will we meet new amazing Evelyn Sola men? Either way I'm excited to read what she has to come. Hopefully we will get a little more of Rip and Eden as well.

Where Danger Meets Irresistible Desire

The Rose and the Crown

If you’re looking for a romance that shatters boundaries and proves love has no limits, Evelyn Sola’s The Rose and the Crown is an absolute must-read. As the first installment in the Good Girls, Bad Boys series, Sola brings Shadow Cove to life—a small town where the secrets are dark, the stakes are deadly, and the chemistry is off the charts.

Eden Rose is the "Good Girl" personified—a dedicated physical therapist and the sheriff’s daughter. But her carefully constructed world is turned upside down when she crosses paths with Ripley "Rip" King. He’s everything her father warns her about: a tattooed, leather-clad biker with a criminal past.

Their story doesn't just start; it ignites. When Rip saves Eden from a dangerous situation at his nightclub, a dangerous obsession begins. Sola masterfully explores the "Good Girl/Bad Boy" trope, allowing the lines between right and wrong to blur until they disappear entirely.

What makes this IRR (BWWM) story stand out is how Evelyn Sola handles the connection between Rip and Eden. It isn't just a simple coming together; it’s a collision of two different worlds.

The Conflict: Can a sheriff’s daughter truly trust a man whose life is built on illegal activities?

The Depth: Sola doesn't shy away from the "darker truths" of Shadow Cove. She allows her characters to cross lines and face the consequences of their passion.

The Hero: Rip is a "Bad Boy" with a protective streak that will make your heart race. His need to claim Eden is fierce, raw, and utterly captivating.

Blurred Lines: It’s a pull-no-punches tale where the "good" girl finds herself drawn to the "bad" side.

Small Town Intrigue: Shadow Cove is a character in its own right, filled with secrets that threaten to bury our leads.

Fearless Writing: Sola’s writing is refreshing because it focuses on the soul of the characters, proving that passion is the ultimate universal language.

My Final Verdict: The Rose and the Crown is an intense emotional rollercoaster. It’s a story of desire, danger, and the fight to trust when the whole world is watching. If you want a romance that is as gritty as it is sexy, Rip and Eden’s story is waiting for you!

The Rose and the Crown….another mega hit on the Evelyn Sola parade! Evelyn has given us a new book boyfriend to swoon over, and Ripley’s bad boy persona hides a loyal, sensitive and loving soul. In her signature style, she writes a love story with a perfect mix of heat and humour. The interactions between the FMC Eden and her ride or die girls Cori and Selene are funny as heck! You also get to see the family drama and conflicts between the sisters Eden and Sylvie, as well as Eden’s parents disapproval of her and Rip’s relationship.
Tropes:
Good girl,bad boy
Insta love
He falls first
Stalker vibes
Possessive hero
Touch her and die
Feisty FMC
This one will be going on my reread list for sure! I received an ARC for my honest review.

I usually enjoy Evelyn Sola’s books; however, this one wasn’t my favorite. It felt overly long, and I didn’t see much meaningful character development. Rip fits the classic “bad boy book boyfriend” mold perfectly, but I wanted more depth from him. He showed love through actions, but his inability to verbalize his feelings especially during their first argument it was frustrating. Words of affirmation are an important part of relationships, and he consistently failed to give Eden what she needed.

Eden, on the other hand, was dealt a rough hand—from her past relationship to how her family dynamics are now with her relationship and yet she still managed to do well for herself and be present. That said, the overall environment gave off small-town, spiteful vibes. While her two friends were supportive, they lacked the maturity Eden needed from them, which made their dynamic feel unbalanced.

Another aspect I didn’t love was how Rip treated the people in Eden’s life. I understand that he loves her, but loving someone doesn’t justify being disrespectful to the people around them even if those people are actively standing in the way of the relationship.

Maybe the series will grow on me as the characters continue to develop, or maybe I’m just at a point where I’m craving healthier, more positive love stories.

Him: The last time I missed someone, it was my mother, and that was over two decades ago. I don’t remember missing her this much.

Her: The man is fine. He has perfect features, beautiful brown eyes, and long eyelashes. He doesn’t have a single blemish on his face.

Just when I didn't think Evelyn Sola could write another MMC better than her last, I was proven wrong. Ripley King is that guy with no care in the world other than his love for Eden. The ends of the earth he goes to sets an all new standard for if he want to, he would. 😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥

A King needed his Queen!

This was a 5 out of 5 for me—story, romance, and spice. Evelyn Sola stepped confidently into a brand-new genre with The Rose and the Crown, and it was nothing short of impressive. The pacing was strong, the world-building was immersive, and the story felt bold and intentional from start to finish. I genuinely love this book.

The tension and buildup to the relationship between Eden and Ripley was done so well. The slow burn wasn’t frustrating—it was strategic, charged, and worth every page. You could feel the pull between them long before anything was said out loud, and when it finally clicked? Perfection. Eden was a competent, confident, and truly capable FMC. She carried herself with intelligence and assurance, and I loved that. She wasn’t just confident in theory—she proved it in action. Watching her move through the story with skill and certainty was one of my favorite parts of the book.

And Ripley? Baby, he owns a permanent place in my reader heart. His depth, loyalty, and presence made him irresistible. I fell in love with him bad. The supporting cast was just as awesome—funny, complex, dramatic, and meaningful without overpowering the main storyline. The sibling tension was written so convincingly I still wanna fight Sylvie’s sister (and yes, maybe even Eden’s sister too). If I ever see them in the literary parking lot… I just wanna talk. Respectfully. Maybe throw hands. But with love.

Now let’s talk spice—also a 5 out of 5. The romance delivered delicious tension, the payoff was satisfying, and the spice scenes hit with purpose, not distraction. That balance is what makes this debut in a new genre feel elite. I don’t just want to read more from Evelyn in this lane—I need more. This world? I want back in. These characters? I’m not done loving them. This genre switch? A win. I will absolutely be reading more from Evelyn Sola.

Just very weird.

***SPOILERS***

This was all just very weird to me. The dialogue. The courting. All just weird?

The romance was just lacking. The book acknowledges the weird way the mmc courts the mmc and we’re just supposed to accept it? I guess it was supposed to be a dark romance but it just felt weird. The push and pull felt cheap. He does something weird, she says stop, he doesn’t, then they kiss. The sex scenes were meh. The books hints at the erotic things the mmc is into and never acknowledges it again. At one point, there’s the “jealous ex” cliche, who spouts lies that the fmc thinks there are some truths to. I was actually waiting to see what was true and what wasn’t from her musings. I thought “wow!” a real literary device being used: foreshadowing! But no, we just learned she lied about him having a micro penis. I thought maybe a twist? Like he’s into being the sub, a pay pig of some sort. That would’ve been more hot than what we actually get.

At the beginning, the mmc thinks the 28 year old fmc is underage and he was still considering it? Odd. Learning that she was 28 was a shocker because the way she engages with the mmc, her family, and friends, I too would mistake her for a teenager.

The dialogue was stilted. Using princess treatment in earnest is laughable, sorry. The characters were saying romantic things but I just wasn’t convinced they actually meant it. The back and forth between the fmc and her sister felt like a cheap rendition of real housewives. The epilogue…a nothing burger.

As I was writing this, my rating went from a 3 to a 2.

It was fine.

I was really excited to read this book and after reading it, it was…fine.

The MMC was cool, he was blunt and to the point which I appreciated. I will say him being a criminal was kind of tame, as if the story wanted him to be bad but just a little bad. Like come on commit to the scary criminal trope.

The FMC and her friends were written like teenagers. The MMC initially thinks she and her friends are 20 year olds sneaking into his club but come to find out they’re 28! These women are pushing 30 and the act like naive teens. I understand they’re supposed to be good girls raised on the right side of the tracks but our FMC left home, went to college in Boston, and by all accounts experienced life so I didn’t understand the portrayal. Also her friends did too much sometimes for my liking.
Her family was just awful. I did enjoy when she stood up to them and let them know about themselves. To me her sister needed to feel it more she was AWFUL.

Overall it’s not a bad story, I enjoyed the couple once they were together but the character portrayals were kind of annoying.

The Rose and the Crown by Evelyn Sola is the first book in her new series, Good Girls, Bad Boys. With The Rose and Crown, Ms. Sola easily elevated an already storied writing catalog to another level. This very versatile author takes the premise of opposites-attracts and pens a stellar book with emotional depth, humor and danger. Ripley (Rip) King is a rarity in the Sola-verse; he isn’t a corporate raider, a CEO, a gifted athlete, a dedicated coach or even a blue-collar worker. He is a self-made man, successful but skirting the edges of law and order. Rip is the face of the underworld organization that has taken over the small town of Shadow Cove.
Eden returned to her hometown of Shadow Cove after her boyfriend wrecked her car, stole her money and left her homeless. She is living in her parents’ garage apartment and working hard to become solvent and fending off the attacks of her jealous sister. She tries to blow off some steam by having a night out with her two best friends at a local club. When the terrifying manager of the club rescues her from a tight situation, she is not sure if this is what a rescue looks like. Soon the rescue resembles stalking and mild obsession as Rip lets Eden know that he is interested in everything about her and inserts himself EVERYWHERE she is.
Conclusion:
Rip is cold and mean to everyone who is not Eden. I love that for her he became a caregiver. He cooked, cleaned, and financed her because he saw those areas of her life as his to take care of. As expected, Ms. Sola gives readers sparkling dialog (so funny people are wondering why you are laughing), well defined secondary characters (I did not like any of Eden’s family), and a well-paced plot with tension and passion. We are also intrigued by the four “possible pairings” Dax, Cori, Selene and Preacher (just speculating). Out of Eden’s two friends, I was drawn more towards Selene, she was so mellow, hilarious and hit all the right notes. Every time she called Rip “friend” I laughed. She had such a strong “voice” I could almost hear her say it. Final word, I loved everything about this story. Rip was a bit of a thug, but he was the most involved of caregivers 😊. We could readily see why Eden caught and held his attention; she was beautiful on the outside and kind, sweet and funny on the inside. I look forward to the next book in this series or any other book Ms. Sola releases!

Favorite Lines:
If I believed in prayer, I’d ask for a calm and uneventful night, but I know better than that.
What she doesn’t know is that Shadow Cove no longer belongs to the people. It belongs to Dax Hunt.
You’re giving crazy, stalker vibes.
I did my part. I saved her oblivious ass, scared her several times, and I am finished with it.
“Your mob boss, stalker boyfriend, probably had something to do with that,” she yells.
“Some other secret side chick?
“Expiration dates are only suggestions.”
“I will not share dick with Alexis Carmichael.”
“I mean, sheriff’s, mayor’s, and preacher’s daughters.
I’m low, so I hope he sends more food this week.
“And judging by how tired and miserable you look, thank goodness for that. Bye. Go live your purpose.”
“I just love you.” Her words cause me to close my eyes. No one has said those words to me in my life.
“I’m not playing this game with you. There will be no other rounds.”

A bad boy/good girl romance with dark romance vibes, this is a sexy and intense love story with drama and heat, and it’s a strong start to a new series from Evelyn Sola.

Eden Rose is the daughter of the Sheriff in her small home town. She’s just moved back after a nasty relationship breakup, and she’s working hard to get back on her feet. Ripley King is a bad boy club owner who is dark, broody and dangerous. He has a dark past and criminal ties, and owns half of the town, but he does use his influence for good so we know he has a heart.. When Ripley saves Eden from being drugged at his club, it sparks an obsession. He wants Eden, and as a man who gets what he wants, he’s determined to claim her and he’s not going to let anything get in this way.

Ripley has all of the hallmarks of a dark romance hero - he stalks Eden (including some breaking and entering), and he’s all up in her business whenever he can be. He’s a mean bastard to everybody but her, he’s super protective and possessive, and there is nothing he will not do for his girl. It’s entertaining, and his intensity is somehow endearing and there’s something about Ripley that is irresistible

“Do something for me…?”
“What?” she whispers.
“Accept this.” I say as calmly as possible.

Eden fights against him, but the man is a tidal wave and she soon falls under his spell. The sex is hot, steamy and frequent, and the two of them fall into intense, all consuming, soul-crushing love.

“You’re my woman … My one and only. My baby. My forever.”
My breath hitches at his last declaration.
“My world. My everything. The person I would take on the world for.”

But even though Ripley and Eden have found happiness together, they still have to deal with the disapproval and judgement from their town. And leading the charge is Eden’s parents and her evil troll of a sister. There is some family drama going on, and Ripley and Eden’s father have unpleasantness in their past. None of them want to see Eden with the man they dismiss as a criminal thug and Eden is stuck in the middle of it all.

Through it all, as they fall deeply in love, I love how they follow their hearts and let themselves feel it, how strong they are, how proud they are to be together and how, despite everything standing in their way, they claim their happy.

“You woke in me a longing I never knew existed and made me want things I had no business wanting. Like a partner, a family, a lover, but only with you.”

Taking their backs through it all, Eden has the most amazing girlfriends. The three women are all up in each other’s lives and are wildly hilarious, and I’m looking forward to their stories. Ripley’s friends are just as secretive as he is, but definitely bring some entertaining moments, and I’m keen to uncover more about them. The stage is set for stories to come and I’m really excited to continue this series.

This book is a great combination of intensity, drama and soul-deep romance, with some funny moments to keep things light and real. I loved the love story and all of the little moments where we see Ripley’s soft heart, and I loved seeing these two get their happy ending.

4 stars.

For Love: She Chose the Crown & He Chose the Thorns

The Rose and the Crown is one of those stories that quietly pulls you in and then refuses to let go. Set in a seemingly peaceful coastal town, the novel peels back layers to reveal how much people conceal behind familiar faces—and how dangerous it can be when carefully guarded truths start to surface.

Eden Rose is a compelling heroine. On the outside, she has built a life that looks steady and respectable, but beneath that surface is a woman who has learned to doubt her instincts after years of emotional scars. Watching her reclaim her confidence, learn to listen to her inner voice, and decide who truly deserves her trust is one of the most satisfying parts of the book. Her journey feels raw, earned, and deeply human.

Ripley King is equally captivating. Often judged before anyone really knows him, he carries the weight of a past that refuses to stay buried. His tough exterior masks a man who wants one thing above all else: to be chosen for who he truly is. His connection with Eden is intense, tender, and complicated, and the push-and-pull between them keeps the tension high throughout the story.
What makes this book shine is the emotional undercurrent. The story explores what people are willing to sacrifice to protect the ones they care about, the cost of living behind masks, and the courage it takes to open your heart when everything tells you not to. There’s plenty of turmoil rooted in family history and old wounds, which adds depth and weight to every choice the characters make.

As the first book in the Good Girls, Bad Boys series, The Rose and the Crown sets a strong foundation—moody, heartfelt, and layered with intrigue. It’s a near-perfect read for fans of emotionally charged romance with grit, heart, and characters who linger long after the final page.

The Rose and the Crown is an unforgettable romance that blends intensity, humor, and heartfelt moments into a story you’ll want to revisit again and again. At its core is the magnetic pairing of Dandy and Ripley—a devoted, passionate couple whose chemistry leaps off the page. Ripley, the quintessential “dark, dangerous mountain of a man,” proves that strength and tenderness can coexist, especially in the scenes where he connects with children and shares honest truths about life and bullies. Those moments add depth to his character and make him even more endearing.
The supporting cast brings vibrancy and laughter. Eden’s friends are a riot, and Selene—the tell-tale friend—delivers some of the funniest lines in the book. Cori, chaotic and complicated, practically begs for her own story, and Eden’s sister’s redemption arc keeps you guessing. While her kids are lovable, her earlier behavior makes her one of the most polarizing characters in the novel.
This is more than a love story—it’s a tapestry of relationships, growth, and second chances, all wrapped in witty dialogue and emotional honesty. If you love romances with protective heroes, strong heroines, and a cast of quirky, memorable side characters, The Rose and the Crown deserves a permanent spot on your bookshelf. It’s a book you’ll reread for the laughs, the swoons, and the heart.
Rating: ★★★★★
Perfect for fans of: Devoted alpha heroes, small town with secrets, redemption arcs, and stories that balance passion with humor.

I dove into this book completely blind and came out quite pleasantly surprised. I love bad boy x good girl romances, and Ripley gave major bad boy vibes. He runs a club, is built like a mountain, rides a motorbike, and lives in a haunted house?

Another thing I hated the huge emphasis on her being black, and not in a good way. I’m a woman of colour myself and I love a BIPOC fmc. I just hate how there were lines along the lines of “oh I thought you would like someone with more porcelain skin” and “oh you like her, but she’s black!” It just made me uncomfortable? It’s like she’s painting people of colour in a not so desirable light? Which off since she is BIPOC

I did like the plot I first, but later on, I just feel like there should have been more to the plot than Edens family making her life miserable time after time?

But I did like how she finally stood up for herself at the end!

The highlight of this book was Ripley, cause yes he started out as a weird stalker but he was so super sweet. He delivered her food so she wouldn’t forget to eat and showed up to drive her everywhere. And also, the man was willing to go eat out of his comfort zone to get the girl!

This really is a 3.5/5. I liked it, the idea is great I just feel like some things could be better?.

Rip is the right-hand, the face, the muscle of someone by the name Dax. They are basically buying up places in a small town, practically owning it, one of his tasks is to manage a club. One night three female friends come into this club and he saves one of them from drinking a contaminated drink. However, he becomes intrigued by her. He denies his feelings and "tries" to avoide her.

Eden is the daughter of the town's sheriff. She is back in town after a failed relationship leaves her in debt. Rip is scary to her and her friends and they all try to avoid him. However, he keeps showing up where they are. Eden is attracted to him, but fears him until he tells her that he doesn't hurt women.

Eden tries to keep her distance and Rip tells her it's to late for that, she is his. He stays in her face without her permission and she eventually gives in to her curiosity.

Besides their growing attraction, Eden is also dealing with a judgemental sister that makes her feelings known every time they are in the same room together. Rip is dealing with the judgement of the town and the sheriff.

However, she is supported by her two friends, who may be dealing with bad boys of their own in the near future.

Eden is a typical good girl. She’s the sheriff’s daughter in a small town who usually does all the right things. She went away to college, dated a respectable boy, she’s close to her parents. Who knew when her boyfriend turns out to be less than respectable leaving her in debt and forced to move home that a night out with her besties would put her in the path of the new mysterious biker bad boy in town.

If you’re like me and love when the good girl falls for the bad boy this one checks all the boxes. Eden is no push over but Rip is used to getting what he wants and he wants Eden. This book has all the witty banter and attitude that Evelyn Sola brings to all her novels when she pairs her strong heroines with their unexpected matches. There are so many great moments in this book, so many amazing scenes that bring this story to life and make you glad you spent some time in Shadow Cove. This book has some great characters that you will love or love to hate. You have Eden’s besties, her family and all their drama, and you even have crazy meddling townspeople not to mention Rip and his crew. Great start to a new series. I cannot wait for the next installment!!

When I first read the genre/tropes, I was a little nervous since I hadn’t read this type of book from ES before. I have been pleasantly surprised.

To start, this book isn’t one of anything–Rip rides a motorcycle, but this isn’t a biker book. Rip and Eden’s dad are “enemies” but still work together. Etc. I am not saying this to take away from the story but just appreciating how much ES put into this without muddying the pool….does that make sense? If you’re looking for something in particular, you may get something better out of it. Amen? Cool.

Ripley King and Eden Rose were hilariously beautiful together. Ripley has been so far removed from socializing that seeing him trying to be romantic to headstrong Eden had me kicking my feet. “And I’ll buy you whatever the hell I want, like this **** ice cream cone”

The friend groups are also top tier! The banter is hilarious and this was just a good long read. The angst is kinda low, the romance is warm, and the vibes were immaculate.

Now, I didn’t say this was the Bible or The Great Gatsby and I enjoyed it even still. Excellent work.

Loved loved loved diving into the world of Ripley and Eden! Their love for each other was so beautiful and whole. I loved how they saw each other and understood each other. I also loved that their drama was not with each other and they had each other’s back. The way Rip took care of Eden, never having to ask what she needed just saw her and provided was goals; and, the way Eden stood up for Rip and would find way to care for him and protect him was perfect. Evelyn sola did a great job of showing the dramatics that comes with family (sheriff rose was leaning on my watch list for dislikable characters) but ultimately how love will lead us to protect our family the best way we see fit, friendships full of humor and unconditional love , and how an all encompassing love can lead to a life you never dreamed of for yourself. Sylvie was a case study and while sympathetic at times, very unlikeable at others. I can’t wait to read Cori (and Dax) and hopefully Selene’s (and maybe Preacher’s??) story and continue diving into the good girls bad guys series. I 1000% recommend this book to other readers!

One thing I love about Evelyn Sola's book is how she give just enough drama and a whole lot of romance. So many romance authors let the plot lead the romance to the point where it's no longer a romance story. Evelyn doesn't do the that. Instead she allows the character's to drive the plot and make it secondary.

From the first page until the last I felt as though I was right there in the action watching two people fall in love.

Eden was sweet, feisty, ride or die, and everything in between. She's the kind of girl you could seeing being best friends with. Her girlfriends are the perfect balance for each other. I loved how their friendship played out throughout the book.

Rip was just a poor wee soul who loves deeper than he knew he could. His protective and caring nature is what every girl dreams of. Not only was he was beautiful in the face, his heart was just as kind. The man is the definition of provider. Eden never wanted to anything once he laid eyes on her.

At first it was a little bit weird because he thought she was 18 during his initial attraction which through me off. I wasn't for sure if he could recover from that for me, but it all worked out in the end.

All in all, I feel in love with their love. I look forward the the next book in the series. I curious where it goes since it is obvious that Dax and Cori have already started something on the low.

Welcome to Shady Cove, the first installment in a Bad Boys, Good Girls series from Evelyn Sola. In this small town, begins the story of Ripley and Eden who couldn't be more different. Eden is the good girl who's just looking for a night of fun with her girls at the local bar, but what they find is more fun then they anticipated. Ripley, who has had is eyes on the trio since they entered the place, see's how the girl's night is spiraling fast, and steps in. Just one touch, and Ripley knew Eden was his and all he has to do know is give her time to realize it too.
I'll admit, I wasn't to fond of the hero of heroine in the beginning but as the story continued I understood them more and began rooting for their happily ever after. Once Eden and Rip gave into their undeniable connection, no one, not caring but meddling family members or jealous exes, can come between them. Their story was drama filled but also endearing. I look forward to getting to know the next couple in the series.

This is the first book of the new series, and let me tell it doesn’t pull any punches from the start. However, before we dive in further, let’s rewind to introduce our main characters. First, we have Eden Rose, who is the Sheriff’s daughter and a Physical Therapist who is looking to unwind with a much-needed Girl’s Night with her besties. Of course, as the night takes a potentially dangerous turn, here enters Biker and Club owner Ripley “Rip” King. From here, our story takes an unanticipated turn.
Eden and Ripley’s story is complex, pulling elements of drama, humor, and, of course, scorching romance. I will say I always appreciate the inclusion of the much-needed BFFs that have become a signature of the authors. Despite all the twists and turns, Rip and Eden arrived at the HEA. Overall, this is a great introduction to a new series, and I am patiently looking forward to continuing this series.

Eden goes out to the club in her small town with her best friends. She’s almost drugged by a man in the club but the head of security notices. Ripley is the head of security. He handles the guys and gets Eden and her friends home safely.

That begins their relationship with him chasing and her trying to maneuver around him until she gives in. See Ripley is a motorcycle riding, all black wearing man who cares nothing about what the small town or anyone thinks of him. He is however, determined to win Eden over.

On their way to HEA, there’s loads of family drama between Eden and her sister and Ripley. There’s the story of her friendship since her girls mean everything to Eden. Then there’s the story of what happened in their town and how Ripley and his friends run it.

It’s a totally engaging tale that I devoured. Because of course Ripley and Eden get a HEA. Borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited.

My King and his thorny rose. First time reader and I may be hooked on this author.

Ripley King is a man that knows what he wants and when he sets his eyes on Eden Rose there is no stopping him. He know from the first time they met she was the one that will turn his life upside down. She is the Sheriff's daughter and has returned home to start over. After a bad break up the last thing Eden needs is to start another relationship especially with a man like Rip.

Fate has other plans for them. The chemistry is real and Rip, OMG, he is a man of little words but when he speaks his heart you just can't help love him more. Lets not even start about how he treats Eden, I mean that is what dreams are made of and this just makes you want to find that special bad guy and find that heart of gold.

“What's in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other word would smell as sweet.”

One look at Rip and Eden just knew that was a whole lot of trouble she didn't want to deal with, but that didn't stop him. Because after just one touch, Ripley King was bewitched in the worst yet best way possible. It didn't matter Eden Rose was the Sheriff's daughter or that small town secrets threatened to tear them all apart at the very seams.

Evelyn Sola delivers again in her first venture into dark adjacent romance. It gives all the nuances I love about her writing with a twist. Quick pacing carries the story along well without losing detail and keeps the reader on their toes. I absolutely LOVED it! Can't wait to come back to Shadow Cove to see what's next.

My love of romantic suspense is no secret. And after catching the blurb for The Rose and the Crown I decided to make it my first read from Evelyn Sola.

I liked seeing Rip stunned into something the first time he met Eden. There was something about her that the broody guy who skirted the law just couldn't look away from. He wanted her and he gets what he wants, even if she is the sheriff's daughter. Eden was no slouch either. She was hard working and I loved how she stood up for herself even to her family.

That being said, I found myself wanting more. More danger and guessing. For as nefarious as Rip's dealings were alluded to being, there was no secret who was going to be causing trouble for them. While Eden and Rip's opposites attract romance ended with them happy, I like that there is still the possibility of something else happening down the line as the series progresses...

Ms. Sola steps into a more gritty style of writing
The story is a little darker then most of her books but the writing is superb. Rose the female lead and her two sidekicks are hilarious. The dialog between the three is LOL. Rip, the male lead, is a new book boyfriend. Stoic, stern but loves his Rose and will let nothing come between their love.
What I loved most was the interaction between Rip and Rose did not have angst. They knew they belonged together and fought against everything trying to come between them. The bonus was seeing how the two besties and Rips sidekick interact. I can't wait for theirs stories.
I did think the the beginning was a little slow but once all the characters were introduced this was a great read.

This book is well written however, I could only get to 50% because the FMC was way to naive for my taste. She is 28 years old and still calls her dad Daddy and has no life experience that made her grow up more than she is. I like that she is older and has an degree but she needs to grow up because the man that wants her has had a really rough life but just wants to take care of her. There are times in this book where she is throwing a tantrum like a teenage girl and I just could not handle that. I am not saying that this is a bad book by any means and I do not want to discourage anyone from reading it, I just however can not handle when a FMC does not act her age, no matter what it is.

Rip and his Rose

I enjoyed this book for the most part. This book is supposed to be an enemies-to-lovers dynamic, but the enemies part of this felt foolish because Eden disliking Ripley was stupid. He saved her from being date r*ped, and she disliked the way he went about it, so instead of being grateful, she dubs him a "thug" and vows to dislike him. My second gripe with this book was that Eden and her friends were supposed to be in their late 20s, but the way they're written comes off as extremely immature, making them appear to be in their late teens. Eden also didn't come off as a Black woman (to me!). But once Eden realizes she likes Ripley, the book takes off and the story gets interesting.

I really enjoyed this one, but…

This story was very good and the characters were well-done. After reading several chapters I started to feel that the story started to drag a bit; or perhaps my expectations were off especially noticing how many chapters it has. I paused and read two short reads and then I made my way back to Eden and Ripley’s romance. I think this made me appreciate the narrative more. Their chemistry is truly on point and hot as blazes. Eden and Rip were truly in love and didn’t let the people around them succeed in breaking them up. I also found some of the dialogue really humorous where I actually laughed out loud several times. I recommend this novel. Don’t let the length scare you.
