Agatha Christie’s most famous detectives receive the Mr Men Little Miss treatment!
Hercule Poirot meets Mr Men and Little Miss in this new story, written and illustrated by Adam Hargreaves. Loosely inspired by Death on the Nile, but with a charming and humorous twist for younger fans, this is a mystery that requires ‘little grey cells’ to solve it!
Introducing Mr Poirot – a new Mr Men character who is a famous Belgian detective, like someone Agatha Christie fans have already met!
Mr Poirot is escaping the winter gloom with a sunny cruise on the River Nile when he meets his friend Colonel Rush, who travels the world tracking down criminals. His relaxing holiday soon includes much mischief and a mystery to solve, with many Mr Men and Little Miss suspects, including Mr Tickle with his extraordinarily long arms! Can Mr Poirot use his little grey cells to solve this most mischievous mystery?
This is the first Mr Poirot mystery in a mischievous new partnership, publishing alongside Little Miss Marple: Muddle at the Vicarage.
Adam Hargreaves is an English author and illustrator. The son of Roger Hargreaves, he continues his father's popular Mr. Men series of children's books. Hargreaves also served as inspiration for the series. When at the age of six he asked his father "What does a tickle look like?", Roger used that question to create the first book, Mr. Tickle.
A delight. Combining a perennial childhood favourite with the Queen of crime writing and her famous Belgian detective in one of his most famous cases. A lovely blend with humour and mischief and thankfully no murder. A novelty for adults and children alike.
As the year is coming to an end and this will be our final review for 2025, we decided to finish off with a fun one. When your a fan of Agatha Christie and the Mr Men / Little Miss books and they announce a collaboration, what do you do…… You get very excited, purchase them both and fall in love with them. What’s even move intoxicating is that there’s more books to come with the next two released in February 2026. In the first book, Mr Poirot escapes the chilly weather to travel down the River Nile and gets to solve a mystery in Mischief On The Nile. And in the next book, Little Miss Marple resides in St Mary Mead where nothing gets past her sharp eyes including a theft in Muddle At The Vicarage. These children’s books are pure and innocent fun with lots of familiar faces and a mystery to solve. Great for kids and parents reading for kids and even for adults everywhere. There’s lots of eye catching illustrations to delight in too. Books to be enjoyed and read over and over in many years to come. I just loved them.
“Understand this, I mean to arrive at the truth. The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.”- Hercule Poirot
Just because your arms are long, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a thief or a pervert- but it’s best that you’re cross-examined by a clever Belgian just to be sure. So runs the moral thread in this slight and playful whodunnit that doesn’t stretch the little grey cells.
C'est magnifique! Reading about Hercule Poirot in the Roger Hargreaves Little Mister and Little Miss world was such a treat! Not only do you get the catch phrases, mustache and manner of the true character, but some added silliness as well!
I had more than a few chuckles while reading this mini-mystery. The hardcover book itself is very well made and includes very suitable gold-toned designs on the end papers that represent "order and method"! lol.
Really grateful to my husband for buying me this set of Agatha Christie books for Christmas. They're absolutely worth it—both for adding to any Poirot or Miss Marple book collections and for the highly amusing stories!
This year is the 60th anniversary of first reading and Agatha Christie books aged only seven years old stuck in bed with a cracked knee in plaster and nothing to do except read and only books available penguin paper back books by Agatha Christie over to weeks I read 60 books. This is funny tribute to Poirot 's Death on the Nile for both adults and children
Great fun! Mr Poirot undertakes a cruise in the Nile among a motley cast of Mr Men and Little Misses, but who is causing all the mischief in board and what has happened to the Contessa's pearls? Mr Poirot employs his little grey cells and figures it all out! A fun concept which includes Poirot's stock phrases and highlights the traits of the various Mr Men. Great fun!
Incredible read! Full of twists and turns you never see coming. A great counterpart to the original while keeping in the main themes and nuance. Great work by Miss Christie continuing to publish, 49 years since passing
A wonderful mashup of 2 genres, with several characters from the mr men series and a reference to one of the side stories in death on the Nile (not the murder). Both fun and clever, children and Agatha Christie fans will enjoy this one .
This latest extension to the long-running Mr Men series sees a collaboration between the estates of Roger Hargreaves and Agatha Christie. The result is a fun little read for young children, which may just encourage them to seek out the real mysteries of Dame Agatha as they get older.
Roger Hargreaves & Agatha Christie (2025) MR. POIROT - MISCHIEF ON THE NILE London. Farshore
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5 stars

“I am a detective," announced Mr Poirot, with the modest air of one who says 'I am a king'. "And as a detective, I will solve this mystery!" And he set his little grey cells to work, busily mulling over the possible suspects.
What a fantastic idea.
Combining Agatha Christie's Belgian sleuth with the iconic Mr Men and Little Miss characters, this Little gem of a book has the potential to bring the golden age of crime to a whole new generation.
Very loosely based around Murder on the Nile, Little Mr. Poirot must solve the crime of a stolen necklace. The Mr Men and Little Miss companions weave in seamlessly, adding their usual hijinx into the mix.
I picked this up on a recent trip to London (I believe it's a Waterstones exclusive) because I have fond memories of the Mr. Men books as a child, and love whodunits, especially by the incomparable Agatha Christie. And this is a simply adorable marriage of the Mr. Men illustrated series of children's books and Christie's popular protagonist, Hercule Poirot. The author/illustrator managed to capture the essence of the fussy Belgian detective in this short work, and seeing him stuck sharing a room with Mr. Messy was alone worth getting a copy of this re-imagining for young children (and young at heart).
This is the second of the two Hargreaves, Christie collaborations I've read. Both really good fun, but this made me laugh out loud. The character of Mr Poirot is captured very well, and the story a very clever twist on the original. The conclusion is satisfyingly neat. The cast list includes old and new friends. Very nostalgic. I read this on Christmas Day morning and it has set the tone perfectly for the day ahead. More please!
Entertaining in its own right, perhaps derivative when you consider it in context of the Little Miss Marple book (especially as the mysteries essentially have the exact same resolution). Poirot's character comes across beautifully, though, and the illustrations are great. More deaths next time, please, Adam Hargreaves - surely after you asked your dad what a tickle looked like, you wondered about how to depict a murder in a child-friendly way?!
Some of Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot stories are quite dark and disturbing, while others are very lightweight. Here Hercule Poirot is given the Mr Men treatment. It's quite good fun and I think that the late Roger Hargreaves, creator of the Mr Men stories, would be pleased with the results.
Absolutely wonderful book from the Mr Men series but also from a traditional Poirot murder mystery. A delightful blend of the two universes in a very clever and sweet way.
My husband got these to me for a Christmas gift and Agatha Christie as told by Mr Men, it's a lot of fun, was missing Mr Bump in the stories but still really enjoyable 😉
