I fell in love with Gabby from the moment she first stepped through my door. I knew without a doubt that she would someday be my wife and the mother of my children. There was just one She didn’t feel the same.
Gabby
Oh no! Brotha…there were way more problems than that. Where shall I begin?I was older than him.He was the neighborhood menace. All the upstanding citizens of our little town hated to see him and his little demon posse coming.I WAS HIS BABYSITTER!!! When it’s Fate…
Gabby’s unwillingness to entertain Marcus’s 'little' crush drove him far away from home. But he doesn’t stay gone. He returns a man, all grown up, and he’s more determined than ever to win her heart. Will these two be able to overcome all the reasons why they shouldn’t explore the possibilities? or will they ignore the growing flame between them and give in to the pressures of all the outsiders looking in?
Author Edwina Fort is a writer who writes with a passion and purpose. She was born and raised in Chicago but now resides in the south. Although she is new to many, this author has been writing for many years and has given her unique style of writing away freely at no cost to those who would receive. Her passion for writing came about at an early age and developed into what it is today based on her experience and life lessons. With her stories, she wants to redefine all that we’ve been taught to believe and shed light on our truths and potential. Writing is her calling, and she wants to share that gift with you through the pages of her work. Each book will take you on a memorable journey you will find hard to forget.
It had good moments but I honestly don’t know what the heck I just read. It made me feel like I needed to pray afterwards and not in a good way. It’s warped bible mixed with some paranormal stuff. The worse part is how odd it ends and the random narrations explaining the book. Smh. It was a miss for me.
I’ve read all of Edwina’s books, so I already know she brings originality and strong biblical themes. That spiritual foundation is one of her greatest strengths and why I continue to support her work.
This story started strong. The early character development pulled me in, especially Marcus’s journey. His military storyline — fighting spiritual warfare physically while being spiritually unequipped — added real depth and weight. Those scenes were vivid and some of the strongest writing in the book for me.
When the timeline shifts and he reconnects with Gabby as adults, I expected the emotional and spiritual payoff to really hit. The chemistry is there, and his devotion to her is clear. But this is where things felt uneven. Gabby’s internal conflict had potential, yet at times she came across more passive than I hoped, especially in relationships where firmer boundaries would have shown growth.
The supernatural plotline had strong buildup, and I was expecting an epic climax. Without spoilers, the final confrontation felt quicker and less impactful than the setup suggested. I wanted more tension and more aftermath.
The epilogue reinforces the spiritual message — which is very on brand — but I would have loved a glimpse into how the characters evolved over time.
Overall, this was a 3.5 star read for me. The premise is strong, the spiritual themes are bold, and parts of the writing were very well done. I just wanted a bit more depth in the payoff to fully match the intensity of the buildup. I’m definitely curious to see how book two expands the story. Good read
This book was amazing. It had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't understand it in the beginning, but as time went, I started to understand. Good and evil are always out there trying to see who will win. Marcus was chosen to fight evil. I am glad he found how to battle evil. He had always loved Gabby. She was just too old for him at the time. Once he came back, Marcus was going to get him woman. The book allowed me to acknowledge what I already know about good and evil. I hope to read more from this arthuor
I don't even know where to start All I can say is she never disappoints what everything that she does everybody of work she never disappoints and she always leaves you with some knowledge She also Teaches you something new has your mind wandering if you have not indulged in a Edwina Book you need to Peace and blessings Thank you sister for sharing your gift to tell a heck of a story
Edwina is one of my favorite authors and all her stories tie together magnificently. I wish she had added more to the story and it ends kinda weirdly. She never goes back to address any drama with his parents. There could have been allot more of the sub-plot drawn out. So while I enjoyed the book, I kinda wanted a bit more out of it.
This story was just ok. I was expecting more from Edwina. I was expecting a story that was strong like her previous work. I did like Marcus and Gabby though. They had good chemistry. Anyway, I look forward to reading Levi’s story. I hope it will be good like his two brothers. I read the preview at the end of this book and it just might be.
I love this story…the connections between Marcus with characters we know about or were briefly mentioned in another series keeps me engaged in this saga and excited to see where we are going next!!!
I was sooo happy when I saw that you had a new release dropping, and it did not disappoint. I'm jealous of people who get to read your catalog for the first time because they are all so good. I cant wait for the next one.
This was different but bound to happen at the same time. I love Edwina style of writing. The way she builds you up omg and character development is top tier! I’m ready to see what’s next!!! 10/10
This story was a ,WOW! Ms,E. Fort, knows how to write and include good and evil. Which is how the world moves. I love Gabby and Marcus story. Marcus said he would get his woman and he did. I'm so glad the evilness was cut down or shot down.
This book was so straightforward yet spiritual. These are the times in which we are living in and Edwina has gotten a glimpse behind the curtain and put it on paper! Another number one read!
I enjoyed this story just like the others this author has written. I’ve given it 5 stars because the characters, the writing, the story were outstanding! Now I will say this, I wanted more! I needed more! The end was too quick!
