You'll never make it to the altar, and the words “I do” will never leave your mouth…
***
These lines are all part of my business motto, my personal guarantee.
Despite working strictly by referral, I've made millions—and never failed a client.
Until her.
Katie “I still believe in bullshit fairytales” Elizabeth.
The so-called “best wedding planner in the country” who hates me almost as much as I hate her. ( almost.)
Up until two weeks ago, I was perfectly fine seeing her when our clients happened to collide, but now she's desperately seeking my help for a bride-to-be who wants to run away.
I should've said no, should've just let our paths cross at whatever next wedding was in store, but…
She gave me one hell of an ultimatum, and the next thing I know, I'm flying first class to a two-week engagement party in paradise, arguing with her in the middle of a rainstorm, and realizing I should've never accepted this invitation...
If you like your MCs running into each other over the years because their businesses rival each other, maybe you'd enjoy this. She's a wedding planner, and he's a wedding ruiner??? Is that even a term??? Anyway, he stops weddings from happening, and it just so happens these are the weddings she has planned. Sooo, they kind of dislike each other but are also deeply attracted to one another, and this is how their relationship has been going on for years.
Sometimes they also liked to hate-kiss each other, and while he liked to flirt with her, they never really took it any further. She's the relationship type of woman, and he's a jaded man who prefers to keep things casual.
So it seems like their friends and co-workers have reached their limit with all the complaining about each other. They thought it was time to step in and help these two acknowledge the attraction between them and finally own up to their feelings.
Anyway, some parts are fine, especially the banter. Some parts are frustrating because the push and pull between them went on for years, and both are too stubborn to just be vulnerable.
As for relationships, I think in all the years they have run into each other, Katie has been in an on-and-off relationship with her ex-bf, but she's finally broken up with him in the present time. There's nothing really said about Asher's dating history, only that he doesn't date and only likes casual stuff. So maybe reading between the lines, I guess it's safe to say that even though he likes Katie, he has been with others.
As for the reason he got into this line of career,
That said, either you're going to like it or hate it; probably there's no in-between.
A wedding planner and a wedding breaker meet and can’t help but want each other…
When they say opposites attract, they’re not kidding👀
Katie (no age given) prides herself on being the best wedding planner in the market. She makes sure her clients get the dream wedding they’ve been coveting and say their vows the most magical way possible ❤️.
But whenever she sees her nemesis, Asher, she can’t help but want to scratch his eyes out 😬.
Asher (no age given) is in the business to ruin weddings 🤷🏻♀️. In the long run, wouldn’t it be better if the wedding was off before a costly divorce happened anyway? He sees nothing wrong with his day job; plus, he’s making baaaank 😅
That is until he keeps encountering the woman tha plagues his job… and his dreams 👀.
But they all say that there’s a thin line between love and hate right?
What I liked: POSSIBLE SPOILERS — the tension 👀. As usual, the bulldozer hero gives no Fs and tells it like it is… which includes a dirty mouth and a cocky attitude 👀
— the banter 😅. These two fight like it’s no one’s business 👀 and it makes me smile
—the 🔥first kiss happens around 40% (that we see) and full 🔥 around 70%💦
— the ridiculous clients and their stories made me laugh 🤣 (but some made me wanna slap somebody 🤡)
— the epilogue 🫶❤️
— the OMD 😈. Katie has an on/off again bf and Asher gets jeaaaaaalous 😉
—the side characters
— dancing at the wedding ❤️
What I didn’t like/wanted more of: — so, they’ve known each other for years and have wanted each other, but nothing ever happened… oh wait… a kiss happened… but did we see it? Nope 😐. We just get told it happened 😒. Come on. If years are gonna pass by, give us the tension and angst
— what was his 🔥 history? If he wants her so bad, then he better not have been that loose 😑 (lol I’m aware Katie had a boyfriend ish but STILLLL 🤣🤣🤣)
— a better epilogue 😒. I wish we got one years later 😐 to see how they’re doing
— why don’t we get ages? 😒
Overall, I like it but wanted more
⚠️safety squad⚠️ -no cheating/sharing/owd -OMD: the h has an on again/off again bf -condoms/it’s been a while for both -HEA/epilogue ish/6 months later
I’ve never met a Whitney G book that didn’t thrill me to the core. And this book once more proved she knows exactly what to give me to continue doing so. The banter between Katie and Asher was sharp, the chemistry off the charts, and the push and pull almost drove me to madness. I loved the rivals to lovers trope and the businesses they each operated against the other was an interesting spin.
Full banter mode and denial of real feelings. And the lovers' dispute is on fire. I can rely on this author for a bit of snarky fun. Asher and Katie are exact opposites in everything. She creates stunning, fairy-tale weddings while he white-gloves his way into splitting the happy couple apart. Two jobs, two life views. It's war.
This parodic novel sets two people with hot chemistry against each other because they only meet on opposite sides of wedding planning. She organises a dream wedding, yet he helps a groom to cut ties before the deed. The sparring in dialogues is exciting and the heat in their attraction is palpable. They might be a bit deranged in their behaviour, but the entertainment is served with flower arrangements and luxury invitation cards.
The biggest wedding ever will be their final battlefield. And I had an inkling of what was going on there so the expectation kept me glued to the crazy events and hoping for a satisfying, over-the-top resolution. It did not disappoint.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Whitney G. absolutely nailed the enemies-to-lovers trope with Katie and Asher. I honestly thought I was going to die laughing at their banter before I finally melted from the absolute filthiest rain scene I've ever read. engagement party, filled with forced proximity and intense arguments, is a highlight of the book. The relentless, fiery tension between him and Katie is perfectly captured when he admits it's a war between his patience and his desire to bend her over mid-argument. This book is the ultimate witty, scorching hot enemies to lovers read! Favorite Qoutes: “Despite working strictly by referral, l've made millions-and never failed a client. Until her.” "She gave me one hell of an ultimatum... realizing I should've never accepted this invitation."
Asher is a man who helps others get out of soon to be weddings they don’t want to continue. That is where the thorn in his side, Katie comes in view. She is a wedding planner and a few of her detailed planned events have been cancelled because of Asher’s assistance. Now, Asher’s brother in getting married and hired none other than Katie. Can they survive a 3 week long wedding event together without strangling one another…or ending up in the other’s bed? This is a fun enemies to lovers romance with great banter. Told in first person and dual POV.
I had sooo much fun reading this book! All of Whitney G.’s books are hilarious. You’re not looking for a complex plot here—just to enjoy the journey, disconnect from real life, and get caught up in these absolutely stubborn characters. There’s amazing chemistry, lots of witty dialogue, and a great plot twist involving an evil mastermind couple! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Quick fun read! I am obsessed with the banter in this book. Every detail was spot on and I loved their interactions. There was no guessing game. You could tell their feelings from the beginning. Loved!
I unusually short for a CR but I liked it's length except for the ending. That was rushed and I'm disappointed they never shared "I love you"s with each other.
I expected more spice, we just get a short scene but the yearning and tension was amazing.

What a fun, flirty and unexpected way to end your engagement/ wedding plans. This story is about cold feet and those who are too cold hearted to just be honest an end their relationship! So here enters this person, the not to be named, LOL to do it for Money! Which is quite a lucrative business. Join in for a hilarious and back and forth banter between two people/ two opposing businesses. Absolutely entertaining! Loved it!
The Fine Art of Running Away - From the Altar and From Feelings♥️
There is something deliciously wicked about a man who has built an empire out of other people's cold feet. Asher is essentially a professional heartbreak-preventer; a fixer in a tuxedo, operating in the shadows of chandeliered ballrooms — and Whitney wastes absolutely no time making you fall for his particular brand of morally grey charm.
Then there's Katie. Optimistic, fairytale-chasing, infuriatingly competent Katie — who builds the very things Asher quietly dismantles. On paper, they are each other's worst nightmare. On the page, they are absolutely electric.
What makes Cordially Not Invited work so well is the architecture of their animosity. This isn't manufactured tension for the sake of it - their conflict is structural, rooted in opposing philosophies about love itself. One believes in it fiercely. The other has made a career betting against it. Watching that ideological wall crack, brick by brick, over two weeks in paradise is genuinely satisfying in a way that slow burns rarely are.💗
The dual POV is a strong choice here. Getting inside both heads keeps you from ever fully trusting either of them, which mirrors exactly how they feel about each other. The flashbacks to their previous collisions are particularly well-placed :- they add texture and history without ever feeling like interruptions.🌷
Oh and the final act picks up beautifully. But the banter? Sharp as a letter opener. The romantic payoff? Very much earned.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review.🌿
when there is a new WG novel out i get excited & this story was a fun read. what i loved about it was that it was a long story vs. a novella so i savored every bit of it.
the story centers around katie - a wedding planner who believes in happily ever afters & asher - a guy who's job it is to handle wedding breakups before they reach the alter. these two have known each other for years as their jobs intertwine. katie can't stand asher because he doesn't believe in love & long-term relationships, but has secret crush on him. asher wants the physical relationship & no strings attached.
then in the middle of the book it got weird because they both worked on the wedding of chris (his brother) & michelle (her bestie). no spoilers, but i don't understand why michelle & chris plotted what they did just to bring asher & katie together (to their destination wedding) in hopes they would finally realize & admit that they truly belonged to each other.
my favorite bit was when katie got so drunk she embarrassed herself & asher in front of the wedding guests.
the only critique i have is that i wished that WG would have written in detail how they first met & how their crushing began (aside from their jobs). i assumed they had a quick random fling & then decided to break up?! then years later their respective jobs is what brought them face to face again?! i didn't feel the jiggy build-up.
all in all though, i found this story entertaining.
Cordially Not Invited is the kind of fun, flirty romcom that grabs you from page one and refuses to let go. Asher and Katie’s dynamic is pure entertainment — a delicious push and pull fueled by sharp banter, stubborn pride, and an irresistible chemistry that crackles every time they’re on the page together.
When one person plans weddings for a living and the other makes a career out of breaking them up, you just know chaos is coming. And oh, does it deliver. Their adversarial energy is the perfect recipe for disaster… and for sparks that practically leap off the page. Every interaction between them feels like a challenge, a dare, a line drawn and immediately crossed.
What I loved most is how their rivalry slowly morphs into something deeper — something neither of them is prepared for but both of them feel down to their bones. The tension, the snark, the unexpected tenderness woven between the laughs… it all comes together in a way that’s utterly charming.
I couldn’t get enough of this story. It’s witty and wildly entertaining — an absolute delight from beginning to end.
Katie plans weddings. Asher finds ways to prevent them from happening. Their professions contradict each other so there's a lot of animosity between them. Their paths keep crossing and things get even more complicated when her best friend from college is set to marry his brother. Not only does she have to spend a lot of time with Asher at this three-week long destination wedding, but also set up a back up plan just in case the bride changes her mind. Say what!?!?! The tension between these two is at an all time high, not only because their jobs cancel each other out but also because there's mutual attraction. The flashbacks to previous wedding events where they've crossed paths explain a lot about their relationship or lack thereof. But I think the lady doth protest too much! They really do give a great example of the fine line between love and hate.
I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
This is Asher and Katie’s story. Asher is in the business of helping others to get out of their wedding if they decide that do not want to get married, while Katie is a wedding planner, and she is not happy that some of her planned events have been cancelled because of Asher. Now Katie’s best friend from college is getting married to Asher’s brother, and she is hired for the their destination wedding. Asher and Katie are going to be unavoidably crossing paths, but will they be able to avoid killing each other? This is a well written easy to read story which is revealed in dual POV’s, with family, friendships, emotions, angst, animosity, tension, survival, opposites attract, forced proximity, enemies / lovers, humour, witty banter, palpable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and fun, addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
As a wedding planner it is your sole responsibility to make sure the day goes off without a hitch! Katie is a professional and she is the most wanted wedding planner in the country! Asher Brooks is her nemesis or the complete opposite. If you see Asher near a wedding or rehearsal his presence means gloom and doom and someone should have him arrested or call security because he is going to ruin the event!
Katie attempts to avoid Asher and Asher tries to avoid any client that has hired Katie as their planner.
But after years of hatred and the occasional flirting the chemistry is lying just beneath the surface…until Michelle & Chris hire Katie to be their wedding planner!
Michelle is a dear friend from college and as it turns out Chris is Asher’s brother!
Let the fun begin! How can you be the best man (Asher) when you don’t believe in commitment? The sparks and angst begin to fly!
I absolutely adore WG books! Huge fan and this is no exception!

Cordially Not Invited is a fun and quick read. It follows Asher and Katie.
Asher is a man who gets people out of their wedding jitters. Katie is a wedding planner. She believes in the typical happy ever after. They are very different and opposites and have known each other a long time. Katie doesn't like Asher because he doesn't believe in love or a long relationship. Asher wants only physical relationships. Their story gets interesting when her best friend from college is set to marry Asher's brother. They are having a destination wedding so Asher and Katie have to spend time together.
I loved the tension between Asher and Katie. They were so good for each other even though they were opposites. Their story is a great enemies to lovers trope and you will love it all. I look forward to more from this very talented author.
"I was a fool for ever thinking we could be anything real."
This was a fun, enemies-to-lovers romance filled with spicy banter and humor. Katie and Asher "hate" each other a lot. Like, so much I wondered how they would ever get together. And it's funny because I think they were actually a great couple. Asher, especially, really seemed to know Katie.
I'll admit, I was left confused about why he got so angry about the text messages she received from Michelle, and it was never actually explained. I also felt their make-up scene was a little too neat and brief. The epilogue was good, but I wish there had been a second one a few years later, just to see everything was still going well. It's also very funny. I kept laughing at Asher's dry humor. The book's not long, and it's easily finished in a few hours, so it makes for an amusing afternoon.
When you open a Whitney G. title, you know what you are going to get. It's going to be a little nutty, some of the situations are going to make no sense, people are absolutely going to do crazy things...and it's all going to seem normal.
Asher and Katie are definitely on opposing sides of the wedding industry. She is a bubbly wedding planner, he is focused on making sure people who don't want to get married...don't. They definitely should not work together and for most of the book, they don't. Or they tell themselves they don't while everyone around them knows otherwise.
This is a quick and fun read. As I said, it's nutty and it feels a little frantic, but in the best possible way.
Disclaimer: I received a review copy of this title from the Author

The tension between these two is at an all time high, not only because their jobs cancel each other out but also because there's mutual attraction. Cordially Not Invited is a fun, sexy story from the always wonderful Whitney G. that I devoured in no time because that’s how great the story is to read.
If u haven't read Whitney G for bit this book that will get you a Whitney fill. Katie is a successful wedding planner and it sucks when you've put all your time and efforts into making the bride & groom day perfect then to have the wedding canceled the day of the event Enter Asher Brooks who makes his living when the bride or groom ( mostly the groom) decide to not get married but was afraid to say anything before the big day So all of Katie hard work is sometimes left unnoticed when he shows up Even though they are both in the wedding business they are totally opposite but still care for one another Funny side characters Katie & Asher are hot & funny with lots of banter
Katie plans weddings while Asher ruins them. Katie is one of the best wedding planners around. People pay a lot of money for her to plan their special day but Asher is also paid a lot of money from his clients. Those clients just happen to be either the groom or sometimes even a bride from the wedding. He’s paid to handle the break-up before anyone takes a walk down the aisle.
Poor Katie. That girl couldn’t catch a break with Asher. They’ve been running into each other for years & there is obviously an attraction between the two.
This was such a fun story to read! I really enjoyed it! It was funny, it was cute, it was entertaining!! I recommend it.
Cordially Not Invited was a quick read with angst and drama. There was heart and emotional depth to it too. My fave thing about it was the banter between the main characters, Katie and Asher. Their banter amused me to no end. I loved them even in their ridiculousness. I would've loved for them to get together much earlier but man did I enjoy the back and forth between them. It kept me highly entertained and engrossed. I devoured it in one sitting. I loved it and most definitely recommend it.
How would you feel if someone kept messing with everything you worked so hard to plan? Imagine spending months getting every detail right. But then again, wouldn't it be great to have someone step in and save you from making a huge mistake?
Whitney G. turns this idea into a funny and charming story. Katie Elizabeth is a talented wedding planner. Asher Brooks has a very different job: he helps people call off their weddings, for a price. Their paths keep crossing, with Asher doing his job and Katie left to handle the aftermath when someone's heart gets broken.
Katie is a wedding planner and enjoys her job. Except when she sees Asher at one. Because Asher is hired to stop the wedding, and once she sees him she knows all her hard work isn’t going to go through. She knows Asher through her best friend. Who just got engaged to Asher’s brother. And she has asked Katie to plan their wedding and also be her maid of honor. And Asher is his brothers best man. Now she has no choice and can’t avoid him. I liked both Katie and Asher. This was an entertaining read!
Katie is in the business of helping couples have their perfect and start their HEA. Asher is in the business of destroying weddinga when either party get cold feet. Unfortunately, they cross paths too ofteen and the lines get blurred. HOwever, they have to show a united front for Asher’s brother wedding to Katie s best friend. They are sent on a chase that can end in disaster for the future couple. The characters are funny, smart and their reparte is hilarious at times! Can these two put their hate aside and have an HEA? You hve to read it to find out!
The story was good and held my attention throughout the story. Katie is a wedding planner and the best to do it. She is sweet, beautiful and sassy. Asher is helping others get out of being married. Asher is handsome, charming, and smart. So you can imagine Katie and Asher become enemies with a side of attraction. Their banter is hilarious and both are petty which is even more funny. Their story ended loving. The writing was amazing and Whitney G is kicking butt with her books lately. Amazing work Whitney G!💐💓🥰😊
