Throughout the Highlands she is known as Keely the witch woman. She is a gifted healer--a woman whose dreams come true. Ian MacPherson is a man who puts honor, loyalty and duty above everything. Their lives are entwined when Ian is sent by the Scottish King to bring Keely to trial for witchcraft. He is attacked and left for dead, but Keely rescues him. When he wakes, he discovers he has no memory. As he remembers his lost past, Ian finds that his need to protect the woman who has saved his life eclipses his duty to his king and country. He is a man torn between honor and duty to his country and the woman he loves.
Keely is a strong young woman blessed with the sight, and she is also a healer known throughout the Highlands, although most view her as a witch.
Ian is sent on a mission to deliver her to his king for practicing witchcraft, but along the way, he is attacked. Keely, with the help of Whipple, saves him from certain death. The blows he took to the head are so severe that he loses his memory. Even as he slowly regains bits and pieces of his memory back, Ian realizes he has fallen for Keely and will do anything to protect her.
Keely is almost captured by a group of men, but Whipple frightens them away. While spying in the village, Whipple discovers they are planning to burn Keely as soon as she is captured, so he sets out to warn her. Meanwhile, Keely's home is burnt down, and she and Ian are forced to flee. Ian decides he must marry Keely to protect her from the king's wrath.
As their long journey unfolds, Ian is faced with one decision, he must choose between his country or the woman he has come love.
Very realistic story and strong characters will keep you entranced through it all. I felt it was fairly easy to relate to the characters and the events were believable. The magic added a great flare to it all. I especially loved that Keely had the help of an angel to guide her where she needed to be. Ian was a magnificent example of an alpha male. He was always trying to take charge and I loved his protective side as well. Keely was a bit stubborn, but who doesn't like a headstrong woman? It is so nice to see a woman who can hold her own every now and then and not have to depend on a man in every bad situation.
