They matched on a dating app. Then the universe dropped them into a magickal fire kingdom.
Amanda Ward has a five-step manifestation routine, a ritual kit in every purse, and a dating profile designed to reflect the version of herself she wishes she could grounded, glowing, and in total alignment. In reality, she's overwhelmed, under-satisfied, and one passive-aggressive email away from a full-blown meltdown.
When a sext thread with her in-app temptation, Declan Thorne, leads to an invitation she can't resist, Amanda finds herself face-to-face with the man behind the messages—a devastatingly hot, emotionally constipated venture capitalist. And the moment she tries bringing a bit of magick into their night, a tarot-triggered portal yanks them both into another realm entirely.
Now stranded in the Kingdom of Wands with an aggravating, broody CEO-turned-reluctant-bodyguard and zero clue how to get home, Amanda's facing nightly on-stage performances, suspicious queens, and magick that refuses to cooperate.
What's worse is that her biggest issue might not be the kingdom—it might be catching real feelings for the one man who makes her want to drop the act.
To survive and find their way back home, she'll have to ditch the affirmations and the carefully controlled persona she's been clinging to and learn how to wield something way more powerful—her truth.
Kristin is a #1 NYT and #1 USA Today bestselling author with over 30 million books in print.
She is proudly neurodivergent (ASD + OCD) and deeply consumed by character-driven chaos, emotionally vulnerable heroes, and smart, sexy heroines who always get the last word and the hot guy. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her devouring thriller, horror, and romance novels, practicing witchcraft, and being the exact kind of unhinged that makes group chats worth opening.
Right from the beginning, I related to Amanda, as I feel so many millennial women will. A world of virtual dating and being able to portray your most confident self meets an awkward reality in trying to live up to the online persona. Kristin Cast captures this so well in both the story and the characters.
I received the ALC and if you’re an audiobook fan, I definitely recommend it. The narrators were so fun and playful together and you can feel the chemistry building while the characters also become raw and open with one another.
I highly recommend for anyone who loves a whimsical romance.
One phrase: manifestation girlie gets portal dumped into chaos 🔥🔮
A dating app match turning into a magical realm disaster? Immediately yes.
Fortune follows Amanda, a woman who has the rituals, the affirmations, the dating profile, the aesthetic, and absolutely none of the actual peace she is pretending to have. She is trying so hard to be the grounded, glowing, fully aligned version of herself, but real life is messy and she is barely holding it together.
Then one very tempting sext thread with Declan Thorne turns into an in person meeting and suddenly a tarot fueled portal drops them both into the Kingdom of Wands.
As one does.
Declan is broody, emotionally constipated, ridiculously hot, and very much giving reluctant bodyguard energy. Amanda is overwhelmed, out of her depth, and forced to confront the fact that no amount of perfect manifestation routines will save her if she keeps hiding from herself.
What I love most about this setup is that it mixes humor, heat, and fantasy chaos with a deeper message about authenticity. Amanda’s journey is not just about getting home. It is about dropping the carefully curated version of herself and learning that her real power comes from being honest about who she actually is.
Also, a magical fire kingdom with suspicious queens, nightly performances, broken magick, and a man she absolutely should not catch feelings for? Delicious.
✨ Tropes & vibes: 🔮 tarot portal magic 🔥 fire kingdom romantasy 📱 dating app match 😮💨 broody CEO MMC 🛡 reluctant bodyguard energy 💞 forced proximity ✨ manifestation girlie chaos 🌶 spicy banter 👑 suspicious queens 💥 self discovery arc
📚 Read this if you like: Romantasy with modern humor, magical realm chaos, portal fantasy, broody men who catch feelings against their will, and heroines learning that being real is more powerful than being perfectly curated.
This sounds chaotic, witchy, spicy, and exactly like the kind of magical mess I want to fall into.

While they matched on a dating app, Amanda and Declan couldn’t be more different. When they finally meet, they end up being portaled into another realm where magick exists and they’re forced to perform and work together to survive.
Tropes: 🎙️Duet narration 🌦️Grumpy x sunshine 🫂Forced proximity 🛏️Just one bed 🐾Animal companions ⭐️Chosen one 🚪Portal fantasy romance 🔥Slow burn 🌶️
Amanda’s an editorial assistant who moonlights as an online spiritual lifestyle guru. She’s quirky and terrified of being vulnerable. Beyond mantras, manifestations, and her carefully curated facade, will she finally embrace her true self? Declan’s broody, wealthy, and way too hot for his own good. But can this businessman turned bodyguard learn to give up control and fight for what he wants?
From bustling Manhattan to the vibrant Kingdom of Wands, this couple must navigate their precarious situation, find a way home, and learn to accept themselves and the possibility of unconditional love.
The narrators flawlessly channel the playful banter and delicious tension between them. I couldn’t get enough of this humorous, reflective, and enchanting portal romantasy!
Huge thanks to the author, Podium, and Bloom Books for the advanced reader and listening copies. This is my honest and voluntary review.

🅃🄷🄾🅄🄶🄷🅃🅂 I am thoroughly enjoying how Kristin is changing up the dynamic of each book in this tarot magic series. In this installment, we follow Amanda, an influencer who focuses on manifestation as she travels through a new world - both physically and metaphorically. After matching with a sexy CEO on a dating app, Amanda takes a leap of faith in meeting him in person after many spicy texts. When a tarot reading during their date tosses them both into a different realm, they struggle through getting to really know each other while also trying to survive an unknown world. Will they be able to overcome their own self-doubt in order to embrace each other and beat the clock?
The tarot magic in these books is so unique and leaves it wide open for so much more creativity and exploration. The only thing I wish we got more of, was how the magic actually works. I feel like we are only touching the surface of what it all means and I’m hoping that the series continues to build on what we already know.
As for the narrators, Andie and Brandon were both amazing choices to bring these characters to life and I will definitely be grabbing other audiobooks by them!
Thank you Kristin Cast for this Arc I loved this book what a journey this story takes you on to find love on a dating app but to have the real moral of the story is to just remember yourself and love yourself life isn't perfect and some images are just that images That's what I took out of this book Such a great magical story with great plot its part of a series but you can read it as a standalone.I really fell in love with the cute side character Cinder and her little donkey friend the cat I think was my favorite. In the end this story had me in tears I was a little worried but what a great happily ever after the Realm of Towerfall is so good what Magicak
Fortune was such a fun book. i listened to the audiobook in one day! The story was so fun and creative. i love finding books that has the MC’s using tarot cards. Our MC’s meet on a dating app and decide to meet in person. While our FMC offers to do something “witchy”, they both end up in another realm! Talk about a first date. They go on this journey that has them both realizing the bigger meaning behind what Fortune has in store for them. There is also a Donkey and a Cat...This is book 3 in the Towerfall series but it can 100% be read as a standalone.
Thank you Bloom for the arc copy in exchange for my review.
It’s no secret how much I loved House of Night during my little vampire phase in high school. As soon as I saw this, I knew I had to request it. This was such a unique take on a fantasy world relying on tarot cards and just everything that encompasses that. I loved the scene with Twilight - that brought a huge smile to my face. I’m excited to go back and read the first 2 in this series!
The Towerfall series is such a unique and twisty romantasy, and I was so pleasantly surprised that this book had the same vibes - romantasy romcom, funny but kept you on the edge of your seat - but the actual plot was different than the first two books. Every character is different, and seeing the character development between BOTH the MMC and FMC was such a journey. Also action packed enough that I finished this in literally two sittings. Loved it!
This was a cute book. It captures the online dating life ghat many millenials (me included) are going or went through. It was awesome to see it captured so well and made the fmc so much more relatable to me during the story! This story was cute, had a little whimsy, was so easy to follow, and made me really just enjoy reading without having to focus all my brain power i to plot and world building. I so enjoyed it!
Towerfall book 3, and I am. so invested in everything about it. The magick, the relationships, the whole world that Kristin has created. I love that Declan started off broody and softened so hard and so quickly for her. And the concept of Amanda and Fortune was SO beautiful, it made my heart truly happy, and was also a reminder to just be who I am, regardless of what anyone thinks. An absolutely amazing book!!
this was a hard one for me to rate because there were many elements i enjoyed, but also the two major plot points in the book felt very contrived to me, not organic, and being authentic was kind of the entire point of the book. i did love amanda and declan’s dynamic and enjoyed their banter! the idea of a fantasy world based on cards and performances was cool and unique!! this would be a 5 star read if those few plot points (nessa’s “accident” & declan’s “confession”) had more depth and meat to them!!
Every book in the Towerfall series keeps getting better and better! Seeing Amanda and Declan’s story grow as they navigate falling into a magickal kingdom is a light, fun, and spicy take on Romantasy. While both Amanda and Declan struggle to not fall back into their own self destructive habits as they fall for each other, they explore the Kingdom of Wands and its secrets.
This was unfortunately, not for me. The writing style constantly dragged me out of the story, the plot was so redundant I felt like nothing truly happened from start to finish, and there is no way you can convince me those two characters fell in love at all, let alone in a week.
can't believe i wasted one of my hoopla borrows on this... but then again, it's my fault for not checking goodreads first and realizing i already dropped the first book in this series, so i probably shouldn't have tried with this one
These towerfall books are some of my favorite. Unique magic system and I love the characters. Amanda holds a special place in my heart as we share a name and a love of witchcraft.
I enjoyed this book more than the previous one “The Lovers”… the various kingdoms of Towerfall have been interesting to uncover. Looking forward to book 4.
If you’re looking for a relatable FMC, this book definitely delivers. Amanda struggles with the difference between online dating and the real-life “meet cute,” all while trying to live up to the version of herself she presents online (spoiler: she’s not nearly as calm and peaceful as she claims to be). When her dating life suddenly turns into a chaotic magical adventure, she’s forced to work alongside her matched partner to find a way out. I loved how open and honest both the FMC and MMC were with each other as they figured their shit out together. Fortune also touches on the importance of being authentic, and I absolutely loved that deeper message.
