I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS SERIES IS OVER. I'M LITERALLY BAWLING RIGHT NOW... LIKE MISS ALICE, YOU TRULY DID THAT. (Want to rate this 5 stars but Goodreads won't allow it bc I'm not marked as an "advanced reader" .... girl??? I read the Webcomic. DEAL. WITH. IT. I've been reading Volume 6 since October 2024... ANYWAYS, THIS IS 5 STARS!!! SACCHARINE SWEET BUT THAT'S WHAT MY LOVELIES DESERVE!!!!)
Update: was finally able to add the five star rating. Woo hoo! It's what this book deserves!

Instead of a "proper review", I'm leaving you with the notes I took whilst reading the webcomic from October 2024 to April 2026. This was a blast!
Notable moments, ch.8, ep. 1-9: ● Thus far, I love everything about chapter 8. Oseman's slightly altered art style (it seems more polished/ detailed), Tori being surprised by how many friends Charlie has, Charlie finally becoming head boy (his speech, man, it was soooo good), the flashback of the former head boy bribing the students with the promise of cookies in the cafeteria (= so real, literally what happened at my high school lmao) etc. etc. ● The only thing I don't like are the constant allusions to Nick and Charlie having sex all the time... I dunno, I prefer the fluff, and I don't think it's that realistic as most teens do not have sex at the age of 16/17 nowadays. ● Nick and Charlie holding hands at school, among the gagged younger students ("Are those two six-formers dating?" THEY SURE ARE, HUN!) ● Tao yelling "I'm so proud" after Charlie finally mustered up the courage to hand in his application for becoming head boy ● the little throwback to last year's head boy bribing the student body with the promise that there will be cookies in the cafeteria was so fucking real, lmao, we all do be living the same lives ● Tori being like "God, I forgot how many friends you have." after literally 7 people show up to help Charlie with his campaign—Tori literally is #me with my siblings ● Nick saying to Charlie "And you're gonna fucking win." is giving James saying to Peter: "Because Petey-boy, we're going to win." AND I AM NOT OKAY ● Otis going around the school with a megaphone screaming "Vote Charlie Spring, the only candidate endorsed by the Rugby team." — we've come a long way since volume one <333 ● Charlie being very forward with it in his campaign speech: "A lot of you probably know me because... I'm one of the only openly gay guys in this school." AND THAT'S ON PERIODT ● Tori being so proud of Charlie during his speech, Nick giving him the biggest hug ever — THIS IS WHY HEARTSTOPPER IS MY COMFORT SERIES ● Charlie being elected head boy — I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT ● Elle asking Nick if he talked to Charlie about going long-distance for uni and Nick looking a bit worried but saying that yes, they're all good, to which Elle replies: "See, I knew it! You're Nick and Charlie, you'll be together forever." And I'm not sure if I'm simply not USED TO SO MUCH FLUFF but my pessimistic ass immediately got the vibes that Oseman will break Nick and Charlie up by the end of this series and besties when I tell you I WOULD NEVER RECOVER FROM THIS ● Elle letting Tara know at her Halloween party: "Nick and Charlie are having sex in the upstairs bathroom, just FYI." Tara: "AGAIN???" (Tara, girl, I'm on your sideee.)
Notable moments, ch.8, ep. 10-15: ● Charlie wanting to create a Queer Club at his school for queer students and allies <3 super wholesome! As of ep. 15, the principal rejected the idea but I'm sure we'll see it come to fruition at some point ● Nick being very protective of Charlie and noticing him not eating as consistently as he would like; my theory is that he fears that Charlie will slip back into his ED once Nick moves away to college ● the rugby lads finally being comfortable around Nick and Charlie <3 makes my heart so full ● ep. 15 ends with Charlie witnessing a younger (possibly queer) student getting bullied and HE IS ABOUT TO FUCK SHIT UP (can't wait for the take down in ep. 16)
Notable moments, ch.8, ep. 16-23: ● Michael visiting Tori during the holidays and Oliver jumping into his arms => I really love the sibling dynamics between Tori, Oliver and Charlie ● Tori's applying for university in Scotland; Charlie says to her: "I'll miss you when you're in Scotland." => this final Heartstopper book really is about goodbyes and letting go ● the through-line of chapter 8, thus far, is that Nick is reaaally struggling (it isn't 100% clear why but we can assume that his anxiety and stress stems from the fact that he's about to go off to university, leaving everything and everyone familiar and loved behind, and the uncertainty whether long distance with Charlie will work or the possibility of Charlie struggling again and Nick not being there, as well as Nick feeling that he cannot express his emotions/fears without stressing other people out) and that Nick is poor at communicating his feelings; there are so many instances in which Charlie downright asks him if everything is okay or if he wants to talk to him etc. etc. but Nick keeps faking it with "no, no, i'm all good" => it's painful to see (and a bit tedious to read about ngl, bc thus far, the two of them have been great at communicating!) and i hope it'll get resolved soon; i want a happy/fluffy ending and not all this angst and anxiety ● Nick crying in his sleep, telling Charlie he had a dream that he (Charlie) died => I do not like it here! Like I said, Oseman is better at fluff and lightheartedness! ● the stressful situation with Nick probably being one of the reasons why Charlie's struggling with his ED again ● Nick getting piss drunk during the party where Queer Intentions (Charlie's band) are playing ● Darcy getting kicked out by their mom (I HATE IT HERE), and finally having the courage to tell Nick and Charlie that they prefer they/them pronouns from now on! ● Nick almost throwing up in Tara's car ("NICHOLAS DON'T YOU DARE") right after Darcy being so vulnerable was lowkey funny though! ● Charlie: "I'm worried about you." Nick: "There's nothing to worry about." => I HATE IT HERE!
Notable moments, ch.8, ep. 24-epilogue: ● the Q&A episode she gave us at the beginning of the year fueled me with so much LIFE!! Nick and Charlie's wedding outfits, everyone's favorite TV shows, Charlie being anxious about the reader's parasocial relationship to them while Nick's just watching a 20 minute compilation of them kissing, ● Mr Farouk allowing Charlie to use his classroom for his pride club, despite the headmaster not allowing it ("As a fellow homosexual, I'd say that us queers, historically, have never asked for permission to exist. <3) ● the young student popping his head in shyly asking if this is the pride club, imma cry <333 like, come in, bbygirl ● Tori joining to support Charlie <3 ● the gang going on a protest for trans rights, I know that's right! (Darcy's sign reading "Angry enby lesbian", whilst holding Elle's hand <3) ● the farewell prom and everyone looking absolutely gorgeoussss ● "One last dance?" - Tao and Elle, ya'll are killing meeee ● their last picture together, giving me serious one tree hill season 4 finale vibes ("I mean, all of us. The exact relationships may change, and people may fall in and out of touch, I don't know. Our lives will take different paths. But the web of love that connects us will never break. We built it. And it built us.") ● Nick and Charlie sitting down in the exact room where they first kissed ● the epilogue killed meee (Darcy and Tara traveling through Switzerland, Tori being buzzed for Michael for getting to represent Team GB, Tao surprising Elle with a visit in Berlin, Charlie visiting Nick in Leeds and getting to meet his friends, who are incredibly supportive or queer themselves, them dancing in a gay club, like we've come along way; they're no longer kids/teens, but truly young adults!) ● Alice farewell letter at the end of this truly brought me to tears, I cannot imagine the hard labour she put into the incredibly special comic book for the last decade (!!!) - her determination and endurance is commendable, I couldn't imagine saying goodbye to a project like that, one that was so life-defining for her. I hope she takes the looongest break ever until she feels ready to return to create art for audiences. This one was special, ya'll. <3
5 stars. Joyous, hopeful, and the perfect finale to a series that has held my heart since I was a teenager, reading Heartstopper: Volume Six was like saying goodbye to a loved childhood friend: bittersweet but with the knowledge that you'll see each other again. Thank you, Alice Oseman!

PLEASE HOLD I’M LITERALLY CRYING WHILE WRITING THIS REVIEW 😭
This book was the perfect ending to a beyond perfect series.
I literally love Alice Oseman so freaking much. ❤ In this book, she navigated mature topics in the BEST WAY (as always), especially how she depicted Charlie and Nick's mental health journeys. It made this book such an emotional rollercoaster. It is impossible not to smile and cry while reading this volume.
On top of that, there were so many wonderful lessons in this book: embracing the unknown, it's ok to share your burdens, identity outside of a partner, not all relationships work, and so much more.
Also can we talk about the cover? They are finally kissing!! And it's so cutee 🥰
ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤 I’m so attached to everyone in these books - they are my best friends in another universe and I’m so overjoyed that they all got their happy endings
↬Charlie I’M SO FREAKING PROUD OF HIM. 🫶 He’s made such incredible progress with his mental health and becoming Head Boy is such an amazing accomplishment and he totally deserves it. Seeing his confidence grow is like feeding candy to my soul. (I did not mean to make this rhyme but slay). He has such a big bright future ahead of him and I LOVE HIM WITH ALL OF MY HEART.
↬Nick MY BABYY. He's becoming more and more relatable with his struggles to figure out his identity (we're the same fr except he actually has a bf lol) and how he always tries to be the strong one for others while struggling to open up himself. I just know he's going to do amazing things at college. YOU'VE GOT ALL MY LOVE SWEETIE ❤

⇒Elle & Tao I’m ngl I thought they were gonna be together forever. But I’m SO HAPPY THEY BROKE UP. 😈 You are probably thinking “wow so she’s insane” but I’m not, I swear. I'm so glad they broke up because these two showed that not all romantic relationships work out, and that it's totally okay. 😯 I loved them together as a couple, but I love them platonically too.
⇒Darcy & Tara I loveee these two. 🥰 They are another example of a perfect couple. I wish we had more moments with them in this book, but I have hopes for the movie!
⇒Nick & Charlie Last but DEFINITELY not least. (Holdddd I’m crying again. 🥺 Ok I’m good now.) ISTG they are the greatest couple to ever exist in the history of the universe and no one can change my mind!!! 😝
ℂ𝕠𝕟𝕔𝕝𝕦𝕤𝕚𝕠𝕟 I can’t believe this series is over. 😔 It was such a wonderful ride, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I cannot wait to watch the movie and then read this series over and over again.
That was so cuuuuuute. Un très beau final plein d'émotions qui, comme les autres, aborde des sujets importants avec une bonne dose de douceur. J'ai adoré ✨🍃
obsessed with them i only feel like waiting two years took me out of the world for a little too long and then it was over so quickly it was hard to get back into their world but i still love them and can’t wait for the movie
Después de todo: “You’re Nick and Charlie. You’ll be together forever”. ❤️🩹
I will never get over just how much I love this series 🥹 here are some of my favorite quotes from this one:
✨”Your lives are intertwined”✨
💖”But we still look after each other, don’t we? Yes, we do”💖
❤️🩹”I watched you put that perfect mask on because you thought that if you could be good enough — if you could do everything right and never make any mistakes — he would give you the love and attention you deserved.” ❤️🩹
💔”I think you’ve always done that around people…. a lot of people, maybe. Pushed your own feelings down to make them happier or make them like you” 💔
💘”You’re so gentle with the people you care about. You feel things deeply even if you don’t understand them yet and you’re brave enough to act on those feelings.” 💘
🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️”As a fellow homosexual, I’d say that us queers, historically, have never asked for permission to exist.” 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
I was really touched by the pride parade/fest illustrations and seeing everyone’s outfits and signs. This made me think of the pride fest I went to this year where people were yelling homophobic slurs at my friends and I, but we kept our heads held high and forever know that — love is love 🫶🏻🏳️🌈🫶🏻
