When small-town librarian Laurie Coker is caught attempting ritual suicide atop an old Native American burial site, she is brought into the local psychiatric hospital. But psychiatrist Dr. Wade Dygert, still grieving his wife’s suicide, hears something else in her fractured warnings—something ancient calling through her voice.
Wade’s search for answers leads him to Bone Hill, a sacred site steeped in old Native legends. There he uncovers the myth of two the Ogema Kwedake, a guardian of life, and the Napnéwen, a demon who feeds on human bone. As Laurie slips deeper into visions and possession, Wade suspects she may be the latest vessel chosen to hold the evil at bay.
Now the seal is weakening…
The nightmares are drawing closer. And if Laurie fails to finish what she began on Bone Hill, the demonic spirit will rise again—dragging Wade, the town, and everything good left in the world into the darkness.
Wil Radcliffe first met the Whisper King when he was five-years-old. He heard the rasping voice late one night, pulling him from a fitful and bitter slumber. It was then this mysterious tyrant charged young Wil with a lifelong mission...to terrify his fellow mortals with tales of deep, primal horror.
And Wil has obeyed.
Because he hopes the Whisper King has beer.
And while he waits for alcoholic rewards he lives a fairly ordinary life in some cold, dark place in a realm ringed by skeletal trees and murky lakes. On some maps it is called "Michigan."
