This one might look like the start of a new series and while technically true, it's not really. It's a spin off of a spin off of a spin off of a spin off. Go the author's website, I think she has reading order, or if not it's easier to see how you should read the series in order.

Most of this action took place away from Belle Fleur, which is slightly disappointing, as the craziness that goes on there is a big attraction to these series. I did like the end part that was back home, loved seeing Gaspar embracing his affinity with the animals, he complained so much, so it's great seeing him doing his thing with them.

I was a bit surprised by how much trouble Marissa got in and never contacted those at home for help. I get she was embraced, but there were other people than her parents she could have gone to. And I know they would have told her parents, but still. She was lucky that Joey ran into her at the right time and jumped in to help. It seemed like once Joey had Marissa around him, he wasn't going to waste time and tell her his feelings, luckily she felt the same and their relationship was a done deal.

It was crazy all the things they learned and who was the bad guys. It felt like each page turned up a new bad guy or those that were working for the bad guys. It seemed like they got them all routed out. I also enjoyed the called between the new leaders and POTUS. All that did was enforce the idea that this group works on their own for the betterment of all people and you know if given the chance they will take down anyone, including POTUS and probably relish it.

It's also fun to see the "regular" people in the armed forces meet different members of the family. They are so awe struck, yet while working with them, see how things should be where they work now. It's also fun how many of them end up at Belle Fleur working with everyone else.

Another generation of warriors takes their place at Belle Fleur and Joey Dougall, great-grandson of Nine, is a Ranger. Urged to go out by his roommates one evening, he sees the woman he has secretly loved for years working in a strip club. Marissa Jordan, daughter of Christopher and Ramey, has secretly loved Joey for years too. She has become involved in a scheme through her graduate program and needs help. At the root of the plot is an old enemy and three generations will clean it up.

Another great story

Always an interesting and lovable story from Mary Kennedy. The new generation beginning their journey with each other. Finding love and happiness but also getting rid of another evil person in the world wanting something they can’t have.

Another brilliant book from Mary. Although the team have been re-branded we still see the same camaraderie and pulling together that made Steel Patriots/Reaper/Reaper Patriots/Voodoo Guardians so great. Shadow Warriors is a great start to the new series, what’s not to love. Thanks Mary, 💜🥰💜
