Blood and Heat

Rate this book
I've never fired a gun before. Never known what it's like to take a life.

But my brother was murdered. Beaten to death for a crime he never committed.

The man behind it is Enzo Valerio, ruthless Alpha and head of the Valerio crime family.

Every morning I remember exactly why I'm still breathing: to put a bullet in Enzo's skull. To watch him bleed out and bring his whole bloody empire down. Doesn't matter if I die in the process.

Six months of planning. Of watching. Of calculating every outcome, every risk, every possible betrayal.

I'm so close. So close I'm already in the enemy's lair.

Then my heat hits. Catastrophically.

In his bedroom.

With my body betraying every principle I have left.

Blood and Heat is an MM mafia romance(omegaverse) novella with enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and an HEA earned in blood.

Luca + Enzo 🖤
Enemies | Omegaverse | Mafia

What happens when your mate is the man you blame for your brothers murder?

.

“Earlier tonight, you had a gun pointed at my chest.” His grip tightens suddenly, fingers digging into the meat of my thigh with a bruising strength. “And now you’re here. In my bed. Soaking my sheets.” He leans closer, his breath hot against my ear. “Begging me to fuck you.”

“Has anyone touched you?” His grip suddenly tightens at the base, forcing my hips to a painful, trembling standstill. “In three years, has anyone touched you like this?”

“What?” I manage through the haze. “Nothing.” But his hand comes up, cups my jaw, tilts my face so I can’t look away. “You’re just—” He lands a thrust that makes me whimper. “Fucking beautiful like this.” Another that makes me moan. “You smell like you’re already mine.” “Shut up.” But my voice breaks on it, and I’m arching into him, chasing more. “Make me.”

.

Why couldn't we see the mating bite scene? Luca literally begged Enzo to give him a bite multiple times. And once he finally agreed to it, we never got to see it. Boo.
For the record though, Enzo didn't originally agree because he wanted to make sure that Luca was of a clear mind and that his request wasn't fueled by his heat.

Enzo isnt actually the man responsible for Luca's brothers death. The man who was, was killed by Luca himself in the last part of the book

Loved, loved, loved this! Omega Luca goes undercover infiltrating Alpha Mafia Boss Enzo's organization to obtain proof that Enzo murdered Luca's brother. Only he didn't and Luca was caught, going into a three year suppressed heat that only Enzo can satisfy. It's a suspenseful novella with loss, grief, heat, violence and love - my favorite kind of story. Luca is brave, intelligent and loyal. Enzo is ruthless but understanding and caring, all the while being possessive. I look forward to reading more of Bea having not read her before. I received a copy of this through BookSirens and this is my voluntary opinion.

Blood and Heat by Bea Bellafonte is exactly my kind of story: mafia + omegaverse + MM — and the combination works surprisingly well.
The integration between the criminal underworld and the alpha/omega dynamics feels natural and well-developed. Nothing feels forced. It’s a short, fast-paced, addictive read. I honestly didn’t even realize when I reached the end.
The omega was slightly ridiculous for thinking the alpha wouldn’t figure out his plan almost immediately, but that actually made some moments unintentionally funny. His strategic naivety in a mafia setting added an interesting contrast.
The heat cycle scenes are detailed, but not in a vulgar way. They’re written in a way that aligns with typical omegaverse world-building, adding emotional intensity rather than unnecessary explicitness.
What I loved most is that despite all his doubts and inner conflicts, the omega ultimately chose to follow his heart. That emotional struggle gave the story depth beyond just the trope elements.

********

Blood and Heat – Bea Bellafonte

I originally found this on TikTok and was SO excited to read it—and it absolutely delivered.

This is a short, spicy, enemies-to-lovers novella, and I loved every single page. Luca is on a mission fueled entirely by grief and rage. His brother was murdered for something he didn’t do, and Luca is willing to burn everything down—including himself—to get justice. He has a plan. He’s patient. He’s determined. And then, of course, everything goes wrong in the most catastrophic way possible.

Including his heat.
In the enemy’s bedroom.
Of all places.

Honestly? Incredible.

Luca is such a compelling Omega—defiant, stubborn, and absolutely unwilling to back down even when his body betrays him. I loved his refusal to be cowed, even when trapped in the lion’s den with Enzo Valerio, ruthless Alpha and mafia boss. The power imbalance, the forced proximity, and the constant tension between vengeance and desire made this impossible to put down.

For such a short story, this packs a surprising emotional punch. The hurt/comfort hits, the enemies-to-lovers arc works, and the HEA feels earned—through blood, pain, and very bad decisions. Exactly how I like it.

Fast, spicy, dramatic, and satisfying. If you love mafia romance, omegaverse, revenge plots, and forced proximity, this one is absolutely worth the read.

This was my first ever Omegaverse book.

dark, dirty, and unexpectedly emotional.

This book caught me off guard.
Yes, there’s heat.
Yes, it’s intense and messy and unapologetic. But underneath all of that is a story that actually feels grief, rage, longing, and the slow, terrifying act of choosing someone when everything in you is wired for survival.

The mafia element adds real weight to the story. It’s not just aesthetic violence or pretty danger. The first interaction the boys had, I was hooked. These characters are, and what they’re capable of loving. If you’re an enemies-to-lovers reader, this will absolutely ruin you in the best way. And if you already love mafia romance, you’ll fall hard for both Luca and Enzo, not because they’re perfect, but because they’re earned.

Omega Luca blames Alpha Enzo for his brother’s death so he goes undercover in Enzo’s organization as a security analyst to get close to him as well as his top underboss so he can execute them both.

While working for Enzo, Luca finds an abundance of security risks that other analysts have missed while he simultaneously gathers evidence against Viktor and Enzo.

While at a ‘mandatory’ gathering at Enzo’s house, Luca goes into heat. Because he’s been abusing suppressants, his heat is unexpectedly strong. Luca is torn between hating Enzo and needing him to help him through his heat.

4.5 rounded up!

This was a spicy, short piece, and I loved every page of it! Luca is out for revenge against the people who were responsible for the death of his brother. Everything that you can imagine could go wrong for this omega on a mission, went wrong, lol. But I love his determination and defiance, which eventually led to him getting justice for his brother, and the happily ever after with the mafia boss he was up against.

-enemies to lovers
-forced proximity
-mafia romance
-omegaverse
-hurt/comfort

This gave me so much more than I was expecting from a 100 something page omegaverse novella!
There was tension, so much emotion, some seriously hot spice and even a sprinkling of drama.

The push and pull between the main characters was perfect and seeing it build throughout was thrilling

There were so many more emotions than I was expecting to find crammed into just over 100 pages. I did cry a few tears towards the end.

Absolutely thrilled I have this a try.
I hope to read more from this author in the future

This was so good!

I know it was a novella, but I would have loved a longer book about Luca and Enzo. The ending is satisfying enough, but I wanted more of them, of their future together. I really liked their relationship and how naturally it evolved from one-sided hatred/enemies to lovers.

For such a short book, the author did a good job creating the characters. They have their own vulnerabilities, issues, and personalities. They feel whole, and the chemistry between them was off the charts.

Miss Bea Bellafonte, I'm going to humbly request you rewrite this as a full-length novel because this has e v e r y t h i n g I love in an a/b/o novel: slow(er) burn, a clever omega that isn't a limp flower once he's in heat, and (Not really my thing and it's sooo hard to find stories without them.)

I loved the tension leading up to the inevitable collision between Luca and Enzo, and the way a certain character was, *ahem*, handled. Scenes like that are rarely as satisfying as their lead-up and end too soon for my taste, but I was very pleased this time! I happily devoured this and would love a sequel or expanded universe.

I see that another MM mafia omegaverse is in the works and I am 👁️ waiting!

Loved this! It pulled you in from the first chapter and didn’t let go, I could’ve read a full length novel with these guys. Luca on a mission to avenge his dead brother, goes into the frying pan of the mafia boss whom his brother worked for and my what a frying pan! I loved Luca and Enzo, freaking Enzo man, he’s so freaking perfect for Luca. This was short and simple but definitely worth every star, I can’t wait to see more from this author!

I loved this story so much!
The strength of Luca needing revenge for his brother
The obvious desire the Enzo has for Luca from the beginning
The spicy once they finally come together, and you see the tenderness the Enzo has toward Luca
I finished the story and all I could think about was that I wanted more Luca and Enzo! Everything about this was chef's kiss.

A short omega-verse story. Not too complicated, but not everything was easy either. I liked that time actually passed.

A lot of things happened, but it didn't feel rushed. The pacing felt smooth.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I liked how their relationship progressed (emotionally, I mean), that Luca didn't just accept it and thought things through.

Enzo was surprisingly gentle.

This was such a quick and good book.
Luca is out for revenge for his brother Marco. He’s been planning his entry into the mafia boss’s offices to find out why and who ordered his death.
Enzo is a mafia boss who has hired Luca under the name David DaCosta to try and find leaks in his security.
The night Enzo invites Luca to his home to share a meal with the “family” things go wrong when Luca goes into heat.
Can the mission be saved for Luca so he can get his revenge?

The characters were very complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

High Heat, high drama Omegaverse!
What more can I ask for?!
This short story is a great read.
I love Enzo and Luca 🖤
Their chemistry is fantastic and really appreciated that Lucas isn’t a little Omega waiting at home waiting for someone else to take care of his problems.

An excellent exploration of mafia romance but make it wholesome. The character work and writing style were especially qualitative.

The mid-length made the best of pacing and plot, and each page was earned.

A really excellent read in its genre.

Love love love. Can’t wait to see more from this author! Definitely going on my “read again” pile.
Just the right amount of spice, with slight dub-com on both ends, with Luca going into heat and mentally not wanting it but physically has to give in, and Enzo’s calm and HOT understanding and just can’t help himself… yeah, nice little combo for readers.

I don't read many books from Omegaverse usually. I really did enjoy this one, though. This was one of the truer definitions of enemies to lovers that I've read lately. Luca literally told Enzo, in the midst of getting it on, "I'm still going to kill you." I had to laugh. I'm new to this author, but I appreciate their writing style so I'm hoping to read more from them soon.

Absolute masterpiece. I wish we had 200 more pages

The only thing I’m mad about is the mating scene we got robbed of. WHAT DO YOU MEAN 4 MONTHS LATER!?!? This scene is what I was waiting for 🥲
Also.. No knot. ?!

Anyway, great quick read, loved the mcs and the spice was so good even without

Shory & spicy. Luca goes under an assumed name to the Valerio crime family he believes had his brother murdered. Enzo the head of the family is the one he believes put the hit out. While there he goes into heat & Enzo is there to help him through the heat & cover the truth behind his brother's murder. Enzo and Luca were so good in this fast paced spicy novella. I loved that Luca wanted revenge for his brother. And went out to get just that. The enemies to lovers was such a great way to guy with this one. It was hot and sweet all at the same time. I’m so team Enzo and Luca.
