Dupa ce soțul ei, jurnalistul de investigații Sorin Carp, moare în condiții suspecte, Iris își vede toate visurile și speranțele distruse. Satula însa sa-și plânga pierderea într-o tacere sfâșietoare, ea pornește pe urmele adevarului, descoperind frânturi dintr-o poveste periculoasa: o rețea de droguri transnaționala cu ramificații în comunitațile românești din Spania, legaturi obscure între mafia bucureșteana și capi ai Poliției, dar și aliați de nadejde care o vor ajuta sa-și faca dreptate.

Pe masura ce începe sa puna lucrurile cap la cap, Iris devine ea însași o ținta. Mafia o vâneaza, șantajul o lovește acolo unde o doare cel mai tare și doar un personaj misterios îi mai reda speranța când credea ca totul este pierdut.

Construit într-un ritm alert și plin de rasturnari de situație, romanul te poarta printr-un labirint de scenarii și piste convingatoare, pentru ca apoi sa le demonteze pe rând. Fiecare capitol îți da impresia ca știi încotro se îndreapta povestea – doar pentru a-ți demonstra mai târziu ca totul era o capcana.

La final, revelația este inevitabila, iar puzzle-ul se recompune perfect.

Robert Veress is a Romanian journalist and novelist. He built his career in investigative journalism, earning Romania’s first internationally juried award for a series exposing a crime boss from Miercurea Ciuc. His reporting has appeared in major Romanian outlets as well as U.S. newspapers such as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Hartford Courant, and The Washington Times.
His debut novel, Iris, was published by Neverland.

Iris,o carte rară,plină de suspans și acțiune,ritm alert și personaje memorabile!
Dacă vrei să citești o carte bună,carte aceasta nu e pentru tine!
Dacă vrei să citești o carte foarte bună,atunci recomand această carte, cu speranța că și tu,cititor curios ca și mine,vei cumpăra două cărți,una să o faci cadou cuiva drag,la care ții foarte mult.
N-am putut să o las din mână-așa spunea un coleg și prieten .
Hm,zâmbind cumva a neâncredere,am zis să o citesc și eu.
Nu am citit niciodată ceva asemănător,o carte care începând cu prima pagină,de la Prolog,m-a captivat.
Am fost introdus în lumea reală,nu cea în care trăiam eu,naivul!
Cartea asta nu este doar despre IRIS,o tânără femeie,urmărită,șantajată și amenințată,este despre toți cei care, precum personajul cărții,au fost victime ale abuzurilor juridice,polițienești!
Tematica socială și intrigile bine construite,induc impresia că știi ce urmează ca mai apoi toate așteptările să fie răsturnate.
Miza socială și elementele de mister fac din IRIS un thriler modern.
Personajul IRIS,motivat de durere și hotărât să afle adevărul,este bine conturat ceea ce dă profunzime acestei cărți pline de suspans!
Finalul este minunat,citește cartea și vei afla!

While piecing together and gathering evidence, Iris also becomes a target, placing herself and her months-old daughter in a path of retaliatory danger and blackmail. Relying on powerfully connected allies to assist in her plan to reveal the pervasive corruption, especially as she’s been depicted by her opponents to the public so that her sanity is in question, Iris takes the risk in the hope it’ll pay off and lead to a safer, more peaceful future worth living in.

Exploring the web of corruption that obscures schemes for attaining more money and amassing more power and influence, which is exposed through clever official and unofficial investigation, the narrative quickly builds up tension to learn how deep within the police the corruptive rot has sunk and how it might be resolved. Iris’s character is provided with a depth and complexity through not only the immediate loss suffered with Sorin’s death and the way she deals with her grief but also through existing mental health struggles from childhood experiences of abuse and trauma, the history of which is used to lend validity to claims for her portrayed mental instability in the press; however, the layering in of her past, which is slowly revealed in bits and pieces and helps explain some of her behavior, with the other circumstances of the investigation’s clues and allies, conveniently placed and revealed at opportune moments, happening to align just right does require a fair amount of suspension of disbelief.

Îmi plac cărțile polițiste și urmăresc cu interes filmele thriller, așa că pot spune că această carte m-a prins rapid. Ritmul este alert, suspansul bine dozat, iar povestea te ține conectat până la final. Faptul că este debutul unui fost coleg din gimnaziu face experiența și mai specială. Recomand cu drag lectura tuturor celor pasionați de thriller — merită din plin timpul acordat.

I was contacted by the author with the opportunity to review the recently translated English version of Iris.

Iris is adrift after the surprisingly sudden death of her husband. How can life be so cruel? Her husband was an investigative journalist and had made a few enemies. She becomes frustrated by the local police's cavalier attitude toward the accident. When it becomes obvious that sinister forces could be part of her husband's death, Iris begins her own investigation. The closer she gets to the truth, the more dangerous her life becomes. The corruption she uncovers threatens not only her life but also the lives of her family. Can she stop her investigation and walk away, or will she see this through to the end, no matter the cost?

Iris is a deeply shocking look at corruption. Police, co-workers, and family can come under scrutiny during an investigation. If they are corrupt, how deep does this corruption run? Following Iris as she investigates, we see collusion between the criminals and law enforcement. How many lies have these people told? This well-crafted psychological thriller/murder mystery is a true page turner. Crime and thriller readers will welcome the thought-provoking writing of Robert Veress.

I’m not a huge book reader. There are a few books that actually drew my attention from the description.

I enjoy action moovies, or those based on true story, sci-fi and documentaries. Books for me were in most cases boring, did not awaken any feelings and therefore i wasn’t very interested in them. However, there are a few authors or books that actually made me feel like i’m watching an amazing movie that i cannot pause.
To name a few of the best i had read so far - “Inferno” by Dan Brown and “ The Da Vinci Code” and more from the series and finishes with Iris by Robert Veress.

Reading Iris i felt like i’m in the story. I could see everything as it unveils just like you’re watching a 3D movie. I had tears in my eyes, i was laughing by myself in the train, i was biting my nails because of the moments of intensity.

I’m waiting for the next book to come out as i enjoy very much the writing style. Also, i’m most likely going to re-read it.

Roman scris intr-un ritm alert cu actiune pe mai multe planuri. Eroina al carei nume il imprumuta si titlul carții este un personaj care reprezinta perfect principul apei. Aceasta desi pare slaba este destul de puternicä sa lupte pentru aflarea adevarului in ceea ce priveste asa-zisul accident rutier in care si-a pierdut viata sotul ei Sorin Carp. Actiunea este plina de intorsaturi si rasturnari de situatii care te tin cu sufletul la gura si te fac a nu lasi cartea din mana. O carte in care se regasesc multe detalii ale vietii minutios descrise. Un roman care merita citit Deci va recomand calduros sa-l cititi.
