Sylloge of Islamic Coins In the Ashmolean: Volume I: The Pre-Reform Coinage of the Early Islamic Period

Rate this book
The Ashmolean Museum houses a celebrated numismatic collection and these volumes are intended for the non-specialist as well as the numismatist. This is the third volume in a major 10-volume series presenting the coins and their descriptions in a concise format. Organized to facilitate ease of use, the coins in Pre-Reform Coinage are grouped in regional or dynastic sub-sections and arranged chronologically under mint headings. The volume documents nearly 750 coins from all parts of the Islamic world. Its strength is in the Arab-Sasanian silver and Arab-Byzantine gold and copper issues.
