Mated for the Holiday

Rate this book
A fated avalanche. A week with the Alpha. One discovery that changes everything.

When Junie Watts finds herself stranded in a snowstorm, she never imagined her rescuer would be the very creature she’s been told to fear: a brooding, dark-haired werewolf shifter. After three years without a break, Junie is forced to confront her work-life balance—and maybe, just maybe, her own desires.

Silas Woodfield has always put his pack first, but the arrival of a sassy, curly-haired human threatens that. Between being spellbound to never have a mate and taking over the entire North, Silas can’t afford distractions. Still, when he insists Junie stay in his cabin for her safety, their snowed-in week turns into something neither of them expected.

As rogue packs close in, Silas is more convinced than ever that claiming a mate would be a mistake. Unfortunately for him, Junie is determined to change their fate.

Mated for the Holiday is a cozy, medium-heat, shifter romance. Tropes include: snowed in, strangers to lovers, and fated mates. This is a companion novel to Hexed for the Holiday, a witchy, paranormal romance. Perfect for fans of the grumpy banter in Mate by Ali Hazelwood, the small-town feel of Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison, or the thrill of encountering the unknown in Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon.

I haven't read a werewolf story in a while and this was so fun . I loved Junie and Silas from their first interaction. Tha banter, the splash of spice, the werewolf aspect of things and the snowed in trope and fated mates was just perfect . I actually like this one more than Hexed for the holidays which was also good. This imo was just giving more .

Thank you to the author for the ARC all opinions are my own.

I had the pleasure of reading this as an ARC, and it was such a cozy, captivating surprise! The avalanche-forced proximity created the perfect atmosphere—snowed in, isolated, and emotionally charged in all the best ways.
The werewolf shapeshifter element added just the right touch of intrigue, but what really made this story shine was the push-and-pull relationship between the characters. Their tension, hesitation, and growing connection felt natural and deeply engaging, making every interaction meaningful.
This book balances warmth and intensity beautifully. If you love cozy settings, supernatural romance, and a slow-burn dynamic filled with emotional depth, this one is absolutely worth picking up.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

T/W: fighting (on page), 🩸🩸 (on page), shifting (on page), blizzard (on page), avalanche (on page), taking against your will (on page)

This novella is what happens when you toss a grumpy baker, a brooding alpha werewolf, and an avalanche into the same mixing bowl and crank the heat. A grumpy, overworked baker colliding with an even grumpier alpha werewolf is the kind of pairing that just works, especially when an avalanche forces them into close quarters. From the first rescue to the last shared cabin moment, the tension stays deliciously tight, with sparks flying faster than powdered sugar in a blizzard.

What makes this story shine is how cozy and feral it manages to be at the same time. Junie’s determination and sass pair beautifully with Silas’s broody restraint, creating a dynamic that’s equal parts bickery, tender, and steamy. Add in found family pack vibes, wintry danger, and just enough spice to keep things melty, and you’ve got a fast, fun paranormal romance that’s impossible to put down. A perfect bite-sized winter read that delivers heart, heat, and knotty HEA.

I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.

I loved the overall idea of the story line, I didn't mind that it was quick and I know things happen quickly in shorter books that's okay. But the conversations were repetitive and didn't align.
I did like that I got just a littttle bit of paranormal with out the world building.
But I only finished it because it was such a quick read.

An unbreakable bond is formed when a sassy baker encounters a grumpy werewolf in this fantasy rom com.

Junie Watts knew better than to push her luck, but she really wanted to get home before that snowstorm blew through. When she finds herself trapped on the mountainside, she wasn't expecting to be rescued by a pack of werewolves, that's for sure. Now, Junie's staying with the pack Alpha, Silas, who she can't help but feel attracted to. With no way to leave and no one else to spend time with than Silas, Junie finds herself growing closer and closer to the mysterious werewolf with each passing day.

I've been really into paranormal romances as of late, so I figured I'd add this one to the list. It was a solid enough rom com, though I fear that the holiday vibes weren't very strong.

When I first started this one, I was quite impressed by the humor. I found myself giggling aloud due to how sassy Junie is. I found her pessimism to be quite comical, and I just enjoyed her vibe. Then Silas walked in with his overly possessive, brooding nature, and I started to lose my faith in how much I would enjoy this novel.

I'm always interested in seeing how different authors portray werewolves and fated bonds. In this case, the werewolves can talk to each other telepathically and they can shapeshift into wolves, which means they are actually more of wolf shifters, I suppose. The mate bonds went both ways, meaning that both Silas and Junie could feel its pull. Therefore, the two felt very infatuated with one another, despite them only knowing each other for a few short days.

Silas and Junie's relationship is very physical, which is pretty typical when it comes to possessive wolves it seems. If these two wouldn't have been fated mates and destined to be with one another, I really wouldn't have appreciated how physical they get in such a short period of time. However, the fact that they were mates that were drawn to one another almost uncontrollably had me feeling a little more okay with their vibe. Still not my favorite thing in the world though.

I must say, I am intrigued enough by the magic in this world to read the first one if I ever get the chance. These books are really short, so I don't have to invest much time in them. They make for a fun little romp into a not so serious world, which makes for a quick nugget of a story to read between longer books.

Overall, "Mated for the Holiday" was a decent paranormal romance, though I can't say it felt like a holiday romance. My favorite elements of this one were definitely the wolf pack's strong relations, the snowed inn forced proximity, and the sassy nature of Junie's character. I wasn't a huge fan of Silas and his possessive nature, but he could have been worse. This steamy scenes in this one didn't super work for me, but it was a decent enough romance. This one is a short, spicy, paranormal rom com that can easily be read in a single afternoon if one so desired.

Mated for the Holidays may be under 200 pages but Courtney Corlew still brought everything to this book. Intrigue, chemistry, romance, and fated mates made this a must read for me. Courtney has never failed to entertain me as a reader and this book delivered that once again. Our two MCs are forced together, thanks to mother nature, and with the unexplainable attraction felt by both, maybe being stuck together isn’t such a bad thing.

Junie knew she was pushing her luck when she decided to try to outdrive the snowstorm heading her way. While stuck, she is rescued by a pack of shifters and now is staying with the alpha. What she doesn’t understand is the strong pull she feels towards someone she just met. However, the alpha seems just as intrigued by her, but again they just met. I fully enjoyed the banter that Courtney wrote between Junie and her rescuer. Junie is no damsel in distress and makes that known.

Silas doesn’t need anymore on his plate. As the newest alpha and trying to bring multiple packs together, a stranded human who thought they could beat nature is one headache he could do without. Except this human stirs something deep inside him. Both he and his wolf feel drawn to Junie in a primal way. The pull of a mate’s bond is hard to resist, but Silas will not put Junie in harm's way by making her his. Too bad Junie isn’t backing down on the pull she feels and she is making it harder and harder to say no.

This book was filled with primal need, hot romance, and the perfect amount of humor. I really liked that Courtney had Junie take the lead in terms of how these two felt towards each other. Women can make the first move and go after what they want. Due to the nature of their relationship, physicality is definitely abundant in this short story, but it is well written and makes sense because of their bond. Courtney has written a book that is easy to read, characters that you will love, and a romance that is meant to be.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

Thank you to Courtney Corlew for my advanced copy of Mated for the Holiday to read and review!

When a book is attributed to the likes of Mate by Ali Hazelwood, Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon, and Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison, my interest is immediately piqued. Because those are three VERY different kinds of books and genre of books.

Unfortunately, I didn’t love this one as much as I’d hoped. I think this is half a me issue and half a writing issue.

I am still relatively new to the omega-verse genre, so there are still quite a few *mechanisms* that make me squirm. Knotting aside, this was the first book where the wolf was a separate part of the alpha. I normally don’t hear that they’re separate, so that was interesting. I will say that I really do hate reading the words, “take my knot” when I’m reading a spicy scene, but again, that’s just a me thing lol.

I liked the forced proximity aspect of the story. Junie is trapped in Silas’ cabin due to the avalanche and snowstorm. I liked the banter between Junie and Silas as a result. Sometimes I found the banter to be a bit forced, especially with the “brat” nickname, but that’s okay.

What I didn’t love was the unclear flow of the story. For instance, I thought I had missed an entire chapter of them being intimate because it’s not there. But the main characters talk about it like we should know what happened. And I feel like that was a huge part of their connection that the reader misses out on. It didn’t need to be an explicit scene, but maybe just some of the thoughts both were having after.

Also, although the title is “Fated for the Holiday”, I wouldn’t categorize this as a holiday book. Definitely winter vibes with the snowy climate, but nothing is overly holiday. You can read this one anytime.

Who’s ready for banter, angst, and a grumpy Alpha? Mated for the Holiday gave me some of my favorite things: forced proximity, fated mates, a stubborn MMC, a just as stubborn FMC, and all the instant attraction.

We meet Junie, who is completely burnt out from running herself ragged trying to make her bakery a success, and Silas, the new pack Alpha of the entire North, struggling to merge packs while dealing with growing rogue threats. When Junie’s car gets stuck in the snow, she’s rescued by a very snarky, very naked Silas. But Junie gives as good as she gets, and the electric tension and banter had me giggling and swooning from the very start.

For a novella under 200 pages, this story is impressively well rounded. It delivers action, adventure, and captivating shifter romance in the most satisfying way. Silas has gone to extreme lengths to avoid his fated mate, determined not to fall, but fate doesn’t play fair. He can’t resist the undeniable pull toward Junie, whose sassy, bratty side quickly sneaks into his heart, while Junie, suffering from her own reservations, can’t help but fall for the insufferable, protective, loyal ass*hole that is Silas. Silas is trying to be the Alpha everyone needs while carrying the weight of responsibility, knowing that claiming a mate puts a target on Junie’s back. He is terrified of giving in to the bond, of opening his heart again, and of how it might affect the pack. Watching Junie take the lead, refuse to back down, and tell him exactly what is what, all while securing her man, is absolutely beautiful.

Completely adored and devoured every page of this sweet, spicy, and emotionally charged read.

Thank you so much to Courtney Corlew for this gifted ecopy!!

Mated for the Holiday by Courtney Corlew is a cozy, fun paranormal romance that delivers exactly what you’d want from a light holiday read — warm vibes, magic, and a sweet friends‑to‑lovers twist. The story centers on Ophelia, a witch running her late mother’s magical shop, and Sam, her longtime childhood friend who returns home just as a snowstorm and a meddling ghost grandma force them into one unforgettable night together.

What really makes this novella charming is its blend of cozy holiday energy and witchy fun. The snowed‑in setting immediately casts a festive, intimate mood, and the paranormal elements — from hexes gone wrong to truth‑serums and ghostly matchmaking antics — add a playful, whimsical layer to an already tasty romance.

Ophelia and Sam’s dynamic feels earned despite the story’s short length. Their chemistry, rooted in a lifelong friendship and secret crushes, unfolds in a way that’s both sweet and spicy. The romance doesn’t drag — it moves quickly, fitting for a novella — but still gives enough heart to make you care for their happily‑ever‑after.

The magic is a highlight, blending seamlessly with character moments and keeping the tone light and enchanting. The meddling ghost grandma and the magical mishaps contribute laughter and chaos alike, giving the story personality beyond the tropes.

If you’re looking for a quick, cozy paranormal romance perfect for the holiday season — with friends‑to‑lovers tension, witchy delights, and plenty of heat — Mated for the Holiday is a delightful, festive read that delivers exactly what it promises.

4.5/5

I received a review copy and these are my thoughts:

Junie finds herself stuck in the snow after a snowstorm/avalanche. What she didn’t expect was for a werewolf to come to her rescue. Sparks fly immediately between her and Silas, only to be dampened by the Alpha’s foul temperament. With no way of returning home, she accepts to be taken to his camp site until the weather improves. What was supposed to be a one-to-two days stay with the pack, turns into a week that could forever change both of their lives.

I loved this book! It was fun and hot! For a book with about 200 pages, you get a solid story from beginning to end, that doesn’t dwell on unnecessary drama - and there is plenty of drama! This was a fated mates romance, so of course the MCs fell fast and hard, but for different reasons, none of them wanted to let their mutual attraction turn into something deeper. Their one-night stand or “multiple-night stand”, quickly proved to not be the solution to whatever was brewing between them. Junie and Silas had great chemistry. The tension and attraction between them was palpable but they were very similar energy-wise and Junie was just as grumpy as Silas and stood up to the Alpha like no one else would dare. Their banter was less “flirty” and more bickering, making me laugh throughout the book.

I feel like most shifter romances are very "spice heavy" and less plot driven. Here, though I wouldn't have minded a little more spice, what we got was HOT! Corlew found a great balance between plot and spice. We also got character development and emotional growth from both MCs and I liked how they transitioned from having a “situationship” that stemmed from their physical attraction, to a place where their feelings and mutual care grew deeper.

I also really liked the side characters. They knew just when to lend Junie and Silas a helping hand.

If you like wolf shifter romances and are looking for something short, cute and entertaining, then give this book a go!

When I tell you I was excited to go back to Starview, I was underselling it because I have been yearning for this town.

I absolutely loved Hexed for the Holidays and when I saw a trip back to Starview was coming I knew I’d be hooked.

I absolutely devoured this book and loved it more than the first - Junie was the perfect FMC and Silas is such a great MMC.

Junie is the best friend and sister from the first book and I’m so glad she had her moment to shine.
She’s an overworked sassy entrepreneur, with no time for love in her life.

Silas is the Alpha of the pack and about to be Alpha of the North - he has a lot going on, including dealing with past heartbreak from his chosen mate leaving him for her fated, leading to being spellbound by a witch just to cope.

After Junie finds herself stranded on the mountain during a snow storm leading to avalanches, she meets a werewolf, whose pack do rescues on the mountain during the season, she is forced to take a well earned break from work and life due to being snowed in.
Little did either of them know it would be the beginning of forever.

This story has everything you want and need in a shifter romance - it’s got yearning, fighting, kidnapping, found family and knotting.

Thank you @courtneycorlewauthor for this fantastic book and I’m so glad you are in your paranormal era - can’t wait for more!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ — A Cozy, Snowy, Spicy Return to Starview
🌶️🌶️🌶️ (2.5–3)

As an ARC reader for Hexed for the Holiday, I was already excited to return to Starview… but this novella somehow topped the first one for me. The storyline grabbed me right away, and I genuinely loved it even more than book one.

Junie was such a refreshing FMC — sassy, overworked, determined, and finally getting her moment to shine after being the best friend/sister in the first book. And Silas? He matched her energy so well. Steady, patient, protective, and carrying just enough emotional baggage to make him interesting without dragging the story down. Their dynamic was addictive in the best way.

The winter setting, the avalanche rescue, the forced downtime, the werewolf pack… who doesn’t love snow and werewolves? The vibes were immaculate. The tension between them built beautifully, and even without being fully spice‑heavy, it still delivered a solid 2.5–3 peppers worth of heat.

This novella has everything I want in a shifter romance: yearning, danger, pack bonds, found family, and yes — the knotting. It’s fast‑paced, cozy, and just plain fun.

My only tiny wish (without spoiling anything) is that we got a bit more after the sbow stopped. But honestly, that just means I wasn’t ready to leave them yet.

I’m so glad Courtney Corlew is in her paranormal era, and I cannot wait to see what else she brings to Starview.

This was a fun take on the fated mates, forced proximity, holiday story for me. Junie gets stranded during a blizzard, when she is desperately trying to bake goods for her business. She gets “rescued” by Silas, a werewolf. She knows they exist, because her best friend is a witch, but hasn't exactly interacted with them before. Silas’s first words to Junie, “Are you going to open the window or keep eye fucking me?” So they are off to a great start. Silas has no patience for this human, but he and his pack take Junie to safety, and Junie gets crash course in grumpy alpha’s, mates, work life balance, oh and rogue packs threatening Silas and his crew.

I think this would be a great first read for someone who is wanting to get into the paranormal romance world. I really enjoyed it. I always love good banter, and grumpy characters who cant figure out why they annoy each other so much. We also get some fun spice, and the found family or literally packs in this case. I loved that Sila’s pack dished it right back to him, and encouraged him to explore what was happening with Junie. I loved the friendship Junie grew to have with Fran, one of Silas’s seconds. I also loved Junie’s approach in making Silas face his feelings.

This was my first read by the author and I really enjoyed it. I am excited to go and read Hexxed, which tells the story of Junie’s brother & best friend.

Thank you to the author for the ARC!

ARC Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really wanted to love this book, and I think that’s what makes this review feel a bit conflicted. The overall plot was cute and had a lot of potential, and I appreciated the idea of two characters navigating attraction while carrying past trauma.

However, the dynamic between the main male and female characters felt more frustrating than emotionally engaging for me. A lot of the conflict relied on stubbornness and immature attitudes, and while I understand this was meant to stem from unresolved trauma and the process of healing, it often came across as repetitive rather than reflective of real growth over time. Instead of watching the characters evolve, I found myself feeling “meh” and occasionally annoyed.

I do think the story would have been stronger with a more mature tone, especially given the themes it was trying to explore. That said, it’s still an easy, quick read and works well as a light instalove story where feelings are strong, even if the characters aren’t quite ready to act on them.

This book may appeal to readers who enjoy fast-paced, cute romances with emotional tension and minimal angst resolution. Thank you to the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mated for the Holiday by Courtney Corlew
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mated for the Holiday was an entertaining paranormal romance that delivered on tension, chemistry, and cozy vibes.

The push-and-pull dynamic between the characters was one of my Favourite parts, full of banter, attitude, and undeniable attraction. The sassy baker FMC paired with the grumpy alpha MMC made for such a fun, fiery combination, and their interactions kept me smiling throughout.

If you love paranormal romance with shifters, fated mates, snowed-in situations, and plenty of tension, this book is absolutely for you. It had that perfect blend of cozy atmosphere and supernatural romance that makes it an easy, bingeable read.

The chemistry between the main characters was strong, but I would have loved to see a little more on-page romance to fully feel the depth of their connection (and of course for the spice). A few more moments focused purely on their relationship would have elevated it even more for me.

Overall, this was a cute, fun, and engaging read with great banter, a strong FMC, and a grumpy MMC who was impossible not to love.

Tropes include:
• Shifter Romance
• Grumpy x Grumpy
• Alpha MMC
• Sassy Baker FMC
• Forced Proximity (Snowed In)
• Fated Mates
• Knotting

ARC REVIEW
I’m an avid lover of shifter romance, so I’m always curious to see how different authors portray werewolves and fated bonds.
Junie decides despite the forecast, to test her luck during a snowstorm and ends up stranded on a mountainside. Her best friend is a witch, so Junie already knows the supernatural world exists, but what she doesn’t expect is to be rescued by a pack of werewolves. Naturally, she’s both skeptical and intrigued by them.
With no way to leave, Junie ends up staying with the pack’s Alpha, Silas. She can’t help the growing attraction she feels toward him, and with nothing but forced proximity and endless time together, the two slowly grow closer. Each passing day pulls her deeper into his world and into him.
Silas, on the other hand, has sworn off love after having his heart broken. When he realizes he’s attracted to Junie, he does everything he can to deny it. Unfortunately for him, living in close quarters with someone whose scent drives him wild makes avoidance nearly impossible.
At the start, I was genuinely impressed by the humor. Junie’s sass had me giggling out loud, and I found her pessimism really entertaining. I loved her vibe. Then Silas entered the picture with his overly possessive, brooding Alpha energy, and I started losing faith in how much I’d enjoy the story. It was hot at first, but eventually, it became more annoying than appealing.
Overall, Mated for the Holiday was a decent paranormal romance, though I wouldn’t really classify it as a holiday romance. My favorite elements were the strong pack dynamics, the snowed-in forced proximity, and Junie’s sassy personality. I wasn’t a huge fan of Silas’s possessiveness, though it could have been worse, and the steamy scenes didn’t fully work for me. Still, it was an enjoyable enough read for shifter romance fans.

Thank you so much for trusting me to be a Beta reader for this amazing book. Mated for the Holiday was an amazing read! Even without reading the first book (which is on my list for tonight) I had no trouble jumping right in!

As an unapologetic Omegaverse reader, the werewolves immediately pulled me in, but what truly made this story shine were the characters. You will love the sassy FMC, (human, baker) and the grumpy MMC (an Alpha werewolf). Junie is so confident and true to herself from start to finish, never wavering in her instincts. I loved that she never changes who she was or gave up on what she knew was meant to be. Silas was the perfect balance of grumpy and sassy. There may have been one moment where I wanted to yell at him a bit, but overall he was exactly the kind of moody hero I love to read about.

There were so many laugh out loud moments, and a lot of sweet moments too. It's a perfect Holiday read! If you like a Werewolf romance, or a magic / witchy vibe book with fate bonds and strong heroines this is the book for you!

❄️ I couldn’t put this paranormal wolf shifter novella by Courtney Corlew! I was hooked from the very beginning by the sassy personality of Junie, the FMC. Add that to the grumpy vibes of Silas, the MMC, and you have the perfect recipe for some great banter!

🐺Junie, an overworked baker, is rescued from an avalanche by Silas, the Alpha of his pack. The catch? The avalanche has blocked Junie’s way out, so she has to stay with Silas until the snow goes away (a total tragedy, right?) They both feel a strong pull to one another, but they only have until the snow stops to explore those feelings. And then there’s the pesky issue of rogue packs out to harm Silas’ pack, and in turn, Junie.

❄️Between the banter, tropes, and perfect pinch of spice, I didn’t want the story to end!

💜You will love this novella if you love💜

So this book started out really strong and funny but unfortunately it kind of lost momentum as it went. Though I enjoyed the read there were definitely some story flow issues; and I feel like it would have been way better as an actual novel and less as a novella. There were a few spots I thought I had missed a whole chapter (I don’t know if it had been removed or was never there) but I just found the story jumped around quite a lot and over all there was a whole lot of different plot points happening at once.

I did enjoy the first proximity aspect and especially Silas giving her the nickname of “brat”. I did like Junie’s character as a whole and how she interacted with the others. Silas was starting to become insufferable towards the back half of the book. I felt like for 6 chapters it was all we can’t be together but I want you, which I usually enjoy a good push pull but unfortunately with this book I feel like all that time could have been used for furthering the plot.

Also and this is just a side note for people who like high spice book this is note it. I personally don’t need spice in a book to enjoy it but this is your warning.

Overall this book was a funny quick read and I’m glad I got the opportunity to be part of the ARC team.

This is the second Courtney Corlew´s book I've read, and I think if you read Hexed for the Holiday before this one would improve the experience.
This book is about Junie, we met her previously, and Silas.
Junie is stucked in the snow during a blizzard and Silas, a werewolf shifter, rescued her.
The chemistry between them sparked instantly, but they stubbornness dimed their attraction.
What started as a one-night stay became a week with his pack.
The tension between them is so palpable that sometimes is frustating in a almost 200 pages novella.
Tropes you can find in this book:
- Wolf shifter/ Human
- Grumpy/Grumpy
- He falls first
- Fated mates
- Knotting
- Only one cabin
- Dual 1st person POV
- Novella
This is an open-door novella with spicy scenes. And talking about shifters, there's knotting, of course.

My ratings:
4/5⭐
2/5🌶️

I’ve received this book as an ARC and I’d like to thank the author, Courtney Corlew for letting me read this book in advance and allow me to give my honest opinion.

Knot going to believe how fun this was to read!

This short novel introduces us to Junie, a very dedicated baker who gets stranded in the middle of the mountains during a snowstorm, and Silas, the Alpha of the Starview pack, who comes to her rescue and offers her a place to stay until the roads clear.
They butt heads from the very beginning, trading their preferred nicknames: “brat” and “asshole”—which only fuels the growing tension between them. Eventually, they decide to try a “multi-night stand” just to get it out of their systems. What neither of them expects is that what feels like simple sexual tension is actually something much more… fated.
The story is packed from start to finish with romance, banter, and action. Courtney delivers plenty of funny dialogue and inner monologues that make the situations surprisingly relatable—even though werewolves are involved.
This whole book gives major Phoebe Buffay vibes: quirky, funny, and charged with a mischievous streak of sexual energy.

I received an ARC of this book and I'm giving my opinion freely.

I actually really enjoyed this. Even more than the first book. I felt like as a whole this had a bit more depth than the previous story and it really shows.
I found the relationship between the couple to be ,though at times cringe, very adorable and lovable. It was interesting to see the magic and paranormal in this world. As everyone , or at least the main cast, know of their existence.
Ophelia and Junie bestied really hard, they went thtough some QUICK relationships. Idk who worked faster technically speaking, lmao.
I think this was a solid novella and sequel. The only write I have is some things still felt a little rushed. Granted we have close to 200 pages to work with now, so the story already feels more fleshed out than the first, I feel like more could've maybe happened?
(Smut was okay. Not bad, but okay)
But I enjoyed myself. With all cringe involved. Though I think that's only normal with a werewolf romance 🐺🌕
(And im extremely grateful I was allowed to read this before official release~♡♡♡)

good! better than expected - very very similar to “Mate” by Ali Hazelwood

This was cute!! Really liked Silas but boyyyy is he a wishy waffle but Junie doesn’t let him get away with that nonsense!

I liked their dynamic - really funny banter, with the “brat” and “asshole” dynamics. Def my cup of tea lol

Spice is very mild. I would categorize this a half open / half closed door spice. 2 closed door scenes (their first time being intimate) and then 2 open door ones.

This definitely felt very close to Ali Hazelwoods “Mate” book - what with the “north” pack, an alpha that can’t take / refusing a mate, both of them living in a cabin together in close quarters, him being grump and standoffish and pushing her away, her pursuing him and pushing him for the relationship….. its VERY VERY SIMILAR. Like - Its obvious plot lines were inspired with their own twist on it.

It’s a good short read and very enjoyable. The writing was very good as well. Kinda wished it was longer to fully flesh out their dynamics.

Junie’s delivery goes sideways when a snowstorm leaves her stranded… and rescued by a pack of werewolves. With no way out, she’s forced to wait out the storm with Silas, the pack’s guarded Alpha who wants distance, not complications… especially from a human.

I really loved watching Junie and Silas unfold. Their chemistry is instant, the banter is sharp, and the forced proximity hits just right. Junie is determined, sarcastic, and quietly strong, while Silas is grumpy, closed-off, and clearly carrying more than he lets on. Watching her break through his walls was one of my favorite parts.

I also loved seeing Ophelia mentioned again — it made this world feel connected and added such a nice layer, especially after how much I enjoyed Hexed for the Holidays.

This was a cozy standalone, wintery paranormal romance that I flew through in one sitting. Perfect for a quick, immersive read with shifters, tension, and holiday vibes. I’d happily read more from the Northern Pack.

🖤 Thank you so much to the author for the gifted eARC

I'm on a werewolf/shifter romance kick right now and this hit the spot for me.

Very cute, somewhat spicey, forced proximity romance. It's a continuation of Hexed for the Holiday, though you wouldn't necessarily have needed to read that first.

First reactions: I love that Junie finds her someone. Though it annoys me that Silas fights it so badly. I could have done with little more spice though that's just a personal preference. The characters are well written, though you really don't get answers about the rouge werewolves. Like their origins or things like that but again it's a quick novella so that's minor background information. Overall, it's a good romance to read on any cold winter night.

FYI This is a quick novella with insta-love. So, if you like shifters, fated mates, and forced proximity romances then this is for you!

***I was honored to have read this as an ARC from the author. These thoughts and feelings are my own.***

This book started really strong. The premise was cute, the couple had great banter and chemistry, and I love a forced proximity trope. I was able to get a very clear sense of the characters early on, despite the book being on the shorter side.
I was pretty disappointed that the first few sex scenes were off page. This is a romance novel, after all. There is less emotional payoff for the reader with this (to be clear, I'm not just talking about the sex). When there was an on page scene at the end, it felt less impactful because they had already had their "many night stands." But you could not really compare the difference in intimacy because of this they were off page. It almost read like I was missing chapters in my book.
I did not like the second half of the book nearly as much. It felt stilted, a little rushed, and the characterizations of the mmc and fmc were not consistent. There were a few plotlines that felt abandoned or forgotten in the end.
Either way- if you are looking for a cute and cozy winter read, this is a good choice.

🍪🐺ARC Review🐺🍪

Thank you Courtney Corlew for this ARC of Mated for the Holidays‼️

From the moment we met Junie in Hexed for the Holidays I knew I was gonna love her! How she was obsessed with the idea of werewolves and knotting and when all of a sudden the fates stepped in and gave her the opportunity to have what she had always dreamed of.

Silas knew what a mate bond looked/felt like but truth be told he had NO idea! And when he stumbled across a human that needed rescuing from a soon to be avalanche, that when he got the slightest glimpse of his future and her name was Junie!

The sass and banter of these two was top notch grumpy x black cat vibes/energy… but when they both gave in and stopped fighting the pull that they had toward each other it was pure bliss.

Again Nicole like always it was an honor and SO MUCH fun buddy reading with you!!
