This was a fun read. It picks up "shortly" after the end of Godzilla Destroys The Marvel Universe I say "shortly" because this issue begins with representatives of the various Galactic Empires meeting to discuss the "Godzilla Situation" and how to best handle it as Godzilla and Knull have already cut a swath of destruction across various empires, destroying multiple worlds, on their path back to Earth. The artwork is hit-and-miss for me; some panels are fairly solid and some not as much. There is some fun humor injected into the story as well as moments that relay the (relative) "seriousness" of the situation. And then you have that final page with those two images!!! What a money shot!

Some of what I liked in this issue:
The Skrull representative's comment: We have not one problem...but two! It's not just that terrifying god named Zilla... Hilarious that Godzilla's name is broken down like that and equally hilarious because of how "Zilla" is fairly well reviled amongst the fandom because of how poorly the Matthew Broderick vehicle did when released. Is the author secretly a fan of "Zilla"? hahahah!

It is interesting - that "image" on Godzilla's chest is an interesting mix as it reminds me of the symbol that appeared on Miles Morales' chest in the Aliens versus Avengers story after the symbiote absorbed the xenomorph after the xenomorph attempted to impregnant Morales. But it also almost reminds of a dragon with the way the tail curves around.

The entire city, General?
No...the planet. - a nice exchange between the General and his soldier followed by their elation over the arrival of Blackagar Blackbolt. Wakands...retreat! And cover your ears! I found those instructions funny, for some reason.

I think Godzilla bellows "Skreee-onk!" followed by Blackbolt whispering/yelling Cute Roar!
Now DIE! I liked how Blackbolt's words were written as part of the artwork in the panel. I felt it added to the effect and the impact.

The Wakandans laughing at Godzilla being killed by Blackbolt's Cute roar only to wonder why Blackbolt is fleeing for his life as Godzilla wakes up, apparently out of bubble gum.

That image of Godzilla in the city, spitting fire - just beautiful.

The Senate's elation over Knull's trajectory taking Godzilla back to Earth followed by the booing at Captain America's paging the Galactic Senate is hilarious. I always thought Blackbolt had the ability to fly, but perhaps his using his voice like he did depowered him too much to the point he could run away but not fly? In any case, the image of Blackbolt surrounded by flowers is hilarious, lol.

Spider-Man's Don't we have enough problems right now without adding "black holes"! Am I the only one who's seen Interstellar? Matt Damon would kill us all! Nice little pop culture quip, there. I was surprised that Miles Morales was not with this crew, for some reason.

When I read the Guardians reporting We've engaged the enemy at Centi-953, I read that as having engaged the enemy at "Centipede" for some reason, hahahah.

Knull's godwyrm is weird and ugly; it will be interesting to see what its impact will be in the rest of the series. I could see there being some kind of "final battle" between it and Godzilla.

It's rather rollicking the way that old crone is wielding the battle mace she was using to "stir the pot" (or whatever she was using it for). I was What the heck?!? when I saw that second and third image, hahahah!

That is a cool image of the blood red banners being lifted above the buildings of Asgard signaling they are preparing for war.

Galactus sitting in his chair as such a beautiful homage to the space jockey scene in Alien. That is an image worth framing. Galactus is so pompously bombastic in his rejection of Reed Richards and Co. until Reed points out how Godzilla may destroy many worlds that Galactus would otherwise eat, thereby making Godzilla a threat to Galactus. Johnny's yeah, lots of delicious worlds...so maybe you wanna try eating a lizard? I understand they are a delicacy on some worlds was wondrously, humorously poetic and just like Johnny to say such a thing. And how the image focuses on Galactus's eyes! That was so well done as we see them glowing in anger as Galactus realizes the threat Godzilla has become to him.

In all honesty, I do not see Godzilla as truly being a threat to Galactus. Galactus being who and what he is, I would think he should easily be able to break Godzilla down and devour him just as he would a planet merely because of how ineffectual the heroes tend to be when facing off against Galactus (right up until the moment when Galactus needs to suddenly become weak and ineffectual to allow the heroes to prevail and Earth to be saved from consumption). I would think Galactus should be able to absorb Godzilla's energy and drain the giant, mutated lizard dry before he either finishes ingesting and digesting the kaiju or disposes of the dried husk of the formerly feared monster. I am sure that King Ghidorah will make an appearance as he (it) was Galactus's herald in the Godzilla vs. the Fantastic Four issue. That being the case, it will be fun to see how the next issue turns out with Asgard preparing for war with Godzilla. Maybe we will see Surtur joining the fight and getting trounced by Godzilla in the process? Or maybe a frost giant or three melted down to size after Godzilla's radioactive breath cuts them down to size?

It is a fun issue, and it has some beautiful alternate covers. I have a couple of them (including the one with the Silver Surfer flying in front of an angry giant lizard). Again, the artwork was a little too hit-and-miss for me, but the overall story is fairly solid and injects a nice balance of humor and "gravitas" in the issue. I am glad to have read this issue, and I can hardly wait for the second issue to come out.

This picks up where the last series left off and they did a great job on-ramping readers and establishing all the new characters. There wasn't too much Kaiju action yet but the stage was well set for chaos to ensue. Galactus getting an apperance is always a bonus.

Its ok.

I've seen this kind of story hundreds of times. Its a bit bland but it has some cool elements going for it. I will keep reading until I get bored.
