KRISTEN PROBY! MY HEART- what magic did you put in this one?! What a riveting, emotional, utterly devastating yet beautiful start to what I can already tell is going to be my next favorite Kristen Proby series. GASP, I was FERAL for this story! Pretty Little Scars is exactly the kind of romance that reminds me why Kristen Proby is one of my comfort authors. Heart-hitting emotional paired with warmth and swoons and so much heart. This one HURTS before it heals. But what a beautiful and wonderfully sweet and hopeful love story.
If you've read about the Lexington kids before, then you already know Darby's story was never going to be an easy one. Learning more about her childhood and the scars she carries absolutely broke my heart. All of her sisters have had such challenging journeys so far, but hers might be the most complex and broken yet. But she's strong, capable, and determined to build a life on her own terms, despite all her past scars. Emotional and physical. But despite her quiet strength and admirable resilience, she's still hurting so much. And is missing out on living. Watching her slowly lower her walls and allow someone to truly care for was such a touching arc. Tucker gives her genuine and true safety in all forms. But most of all EMOTIONALLY, and seeing him help heal her heart and give her the security she's never had? GAH, my heart was exploding.
And Tucker? OBSESSED. THIS MAN. WE ALL DESERVE TO BE LOVED IN THE WAY TUCKER LOVES DARBY. PEAK PROBY DREAMINESS. This man has been gone for Darby for YEARS! YEARS Y'ALL! His duchess. And the second she's back in town working on his ranch, he doesn't stand a chance. And I love that he doesn't hold back. Man is all in, right from the start. But he also sees the shattered pieces of her. And he's so thoughtful in how he pursues her. Tucker is patient, gentle, endlessly supportive, and somehow manages to be both a total teddy bear and ridiculously ferally protective. He's so swoony I thought I'd explode. But what I loved most is that he never tries to save Darby, because he know she needs to stand on her own. He simply stands beside her, supports her, and reminds her she's never alone. The trust they build together feels genuine, and their chemistry is so dynamic and sweet. But also hot. Emotional and grounded yet also playful. I loved all the nuances. I loved how their chemistry was about two people who grow together, who face the challenges in this story together vs. them ripping them apart. The drama is some great romantic suspense and emotional healing...no unneccessary 3rd act break-ups here.
I loved all the Kristen characters that popped up and how all my favorite series are all interconnected. The Proby universe has so many easter eggs in this one. But I loved the new found family we're building here too in Silver Springs. These new chracaters are already stealing my heart. Between the Blackwells, the Hendrix family, and the incredible friendships throughout the story, Silver Springs is like a nexus of all the Proby people I adore. The love and support surrounding these characters adds so much depth to the story. And creates this beautiful safety net that really lets Darby blossom.
The audiobook was fantastic. Perhaps Kristen's best yet. A FULL CAST ENSEMBLE? STOP- we're being spoiled. And such a DEEP cast of amazing narrators! Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor brought so much emotion and heart to Tucker and Darby's story as our leading man and lady. Sebastian perfectly captured Tucker's steady, protective nature, his fierce love for Darby, while Samantha brought every layer of Darby's vulnerability, strength, and resilience to life. SO MUCH emotion in Samantha's voice. Christian Fox, Stella Hunter, Jason Clarke, Connor Crais, Avery Caris, and Savannah Thomas all are part of the ensemble....did I say we're being spoiled?! Cause legit what a buffet of my favorite voices. It made the world feel even richer and more immersive. The performances added an extra layer of emotion to an already heartfelt story, and I absolutely recommend experiencing this one on audio.
This book made me laugh, cry, swoon, and smile. Tucker and Darby both deserved their happy ending, and watching them find it together was everything I hoped it would be. I am ALL IN for Silver SPRINGS.

Darby my sweet girl, eldest daughter, animal lover - she deserves the kindest and gentlest existence after such a traumatic childhood. All the Lexington kids do, and I've been waiting desperately for Darby's book. And now that we've been graced with her story, I couldn't have imagined a better HEA for her. Tucker is the absolute best MMC I've read all year, I'm obsessed with this man, he's so besotted with Darby, so protective of her whilst allowing her to be the bad ass bitch she is, but he's also the first to defend and protect his woman. The trust they share, revealing their scars to one another, sharing demons of their past and working through the troubles of their present, only strengthen the love and adoration they behold for one another. Tucker is also a consent and boundaries king, we love him. And just when you think the story can't get any better, there's the absolute sweetest bonus epilogue giving us a glimpse five years later! If you don't read the bonus epilogues.. JAIL TIME
Inter-connected small western towns, with big families who create their own found families is my literal favourite trope/sub genre AND KRISTEN PROBY EXCELS AT IT! I appreciate the slight suspense/conflict through this book but that it doesn't infer a third act breakup or unnecessary drama for anyone. This couple, their families, and the friend group are so well crafted, they're developed as if they're truly real people, living out there amongst us and I wanna join them!
The Silver Springs Series is not going to be one to miss, and whilst you're at it read The Wilds of Montana + The Blackwells of Montana to really immerse yourself in the world!
I felt like I was coming home reading this story. It gave me moments with past characters that I have fallen in love with and given me a new family to truly love. Darby is worth everything this story gives her. Learning about her childhood makes you appreciate where she is now. As a large vet, she has worked hard to overcome some things, but she refuses to let them set her back. It was every moment that she allowed Tucker to get close, when she would never have done that in the past. The small moments were so big for her and honestly it was the patience that Tucker shows that allow you to fall in love with him, just like Darby was. He showed her that he would never do anything to make her walls come up and as they start to lower, we see just how much they belong together. Now let me add here, we get some time with Holden and my heart for this man. The way he loves his sisters, but also that his wife is the very air he breathes. He makes sure to let Tucker know that he will always protect Darby, but is the response Tucker had to him that makes you know this man only wants Darby in his life. This story has love, tears, laughter and everything in between. One of my favorite things is the way the girls, all of them, have this beautiful friendship that makes you want to be a part of it. I mean who doesn’t want to be a member of the Spicy Girls Book Club? I am ready for anything that Kristen writes, but I definitely need so much more in this world and soon!
First and foremost - check your trigger warnings for this one! Kristen had me hooked from the dedication.
I don't know how Kristen does it but every time I listen to one of her books it just feels like a warm hug. Even when there are some icky people in the book.
I have been waiting for Darby's book for what feels like ever. And boy did she deliver. Learning about her childhood and everything she went through broke my heart. Tucker is such a teddybear of a man and the perfect match for her. The way he was so patient and constantly checked on her and her needs made my heart so happy. PLUS HIS NICKNAME FOR HER!
The found family throughout the book was incredible. I loved that there was no third act breakup or any unnecessary drama! I am already ready for the rest of the Silver Springs Books!
Make sure you listen to this one. Sam Brentmoor and Seb York did a fabulous job. And it was full cast with everyone form the rest of the series!
"I'm working for Tucker Hendrix, who just so happens to be the only man in the world that I'd like to climb like a tree. More than once." "I can't believe that the woman who's starred in all my fantasies for half a decade is my new intern."
We knew this one would hurt, I mean anytime those poor Lexington kids come onto the page i want to cry with what they all went through.
Tucker knew from the very first moment he wanted Darby but life got in their way and now shes back in town, working on his ranch and in his every waking thought.
It has all the small town vibes and side charcters that make you feel right at home.
Darby has been through so much so it was nice to see her break down her walls and let Tucker in. I liked how it wasn't a slow burn and we got straight into the tension and chemistry.
Both of these characters deserved their happy ever after and im so glad they got it!
Bring on the next book, I can already tell this series will be such a good one!
- Right Person, Wrong time - Who Hurt You - Forced Proximity - Workplace - Forbidden - Found Family
4.5⭐️3🌶
Bonus Points for the found family vibes. Between the Blackwell's, and the Hendrix families they have formed such a cute little community you can't help but want to be apart of.
Thankyou to Kristen Proby for the opportunity to read this one early 🫶🏻
