Mistakes, youth, time, growth, a love that spans a lifetime.

Sadie Collins had to grow up far too quickly after her mother's murder. Her father crumbling under the weight of his grief was a lesson happening in slow motion that love is suffocating. It does nothing but intertwine so deeply with another that it destroys. She was happy loving from afar and keeping the idea of it as only a concept.

Cooper Baastian Volchyakrov is the golden only child to a werewolf dynasty. Werewolves and humans alike bowing to his prowess, to his potential, to all he can be. Mistakes and rash decisions are not a price he is allowed to pay. He knows the importance of keeping werewolves a secret from humans. Their kind has seen what humans do to their own when they are different...just imagine what they would be capable of if they knew about werewolves, vampires, and the rest of the magical empire secretly coexisting with them.

Their entire lives seems to be everyone pulling them apart, but Cooper and Sadie keep drifting together. Gravity pulling them ever closer--stealing the breath from their lungs.

This book didn’t just tell a story, it reached out and gripped my heart, whispering its truths straight into my chest with an intimacy that felt almost uncomfortably raw, the kind that lingers in your bones long after you’ve turned the final page; the emotions stayed with me, heavy and haunting, forcing me to stop, to breathe, to sit with the ache of it all, and if you’re the kind of reader who craves stories that leave a bruise on your heart and feel painfully personal, this one is a must. Now I’m left counting the days until book two wrecks me all over again.

I don’t even know where to begin! I loved this story and devoured it. It was easily a five star read for me. I was rooting for these characters constantly and couldn’t stop thinking about this story after I was finished. Go in blind and fall in love with these characters like I did! I am so excited to see what happens in the next book.

Solid 3 star read for me, I had the opportunity to read this as an ARC and I was pleasantly surprised.
The good – Story was solid, I was intrigued and pulled in from the start. It was a love story after all, and boy was it ever. Full of angst and longing and unconditional love. I felt it all! Cooper’s strength to give Sadie space to be who she needed to be/become was admirable. I do think Sadie was very selfish and immature. She kept taking and taking and not realizing what Cooper was trying to give her. But in the end, she realized her mistakes.
I loved the comedic relief Alec brought, and I’m hoping his journey is still to come in future books. I also loved the pack and all the characters there. I believe the next book is surrounding Donny and Danika which should be an interesting read. I really liked Donny’s growth in this book and look forward to hearing more about him and Max in the next one. The action sequences in the story were good and had me on the edge of my seat.
The Bad – Being 3rd person wasn’t necessarily my favorite, I’ve read 3rd person book before, and the chapters were a specific characters POV even in the 3rd person. In this book the POV switched mid chapter without so much as a break in the paragraphs to warn you. It was a little difficult to follow along. I kept having to go back and read to figure out what was going on. The breaks in the very long chapters were odd to me as well, there were little pictures throughout that are typically found at the beginning of a chapter, but they were just present in the middle, and there were multiple of them in a single chapter. I feel that the chapters and POVs could have been better, not sure if it was just the Kindle version or not. I just found that a little distracting from the story pacing.
I also felt I wanted more of the villains throughout the story. We had a little in the beginning, but then nothing, it almost felt as if they were forgotten about, then BAM there they are again. It would have been nice to have a couple of run ins with them during the middle to add to the drama. It would have amped up the final showdown. Show them stalking and wanting to terrorize Sadie and the pack.

Fighting Moonlight surprised me in the best way. The worldbuilding and the comedic relief are honestly the standouts here. The Volchyakrov pack, the vampire threat, and the wider supernatural politics give the story a real sense of depth and history, and it never feels like the world exists just for the romance. On top of that, the lighter banter and side character moments keep things from getting too heavy, which I really appreciated with all the grief, trauma, and emotional turmoil woven through the plot.

The emotional core of the story is strong. Sadie and Cooper are messy, flawed, and painfully human, and their connection feels intense and believable. There are scenes between them that are genuinely moving and will hit home for readers who know what it’s like to grow up around addiction, loss, or feeling “not enough.” The vibe is very much: childhood-friends-to-something-more, tangled up in grief, obligations, and a bond neither of them can really shake.

Now, why is this a 3.5-star read for me and not higher?

First, it’s written in third person, which is a POV I personally struggle to fully connect with. That’s a taste thing, but it does add a slight emotional distance for me.

Second, the pacing and repetition could be tightened. The early sections linger a long time in the teen drama / cheating-adjacent angst and sometimes circle the same emotional beats (Sadie feeling unworthy, Cooper torn between duty and instinct) more than necessary before the supernatural plot really kicks in.

And finally, this is clearly an ARC-level draft, and it shows in small copy-editing issues—little typos, clunky punctuation, and spots where a strong line edit would really polish the prose and make the beautiful moments shine even more.

Taken together, that keeps it from being a 4.5–5 star read for me, but the heart of this story is absolutely there. The worldbuilding, the emotional weight, and the balance of angst with humor make it easy to recommend to readers who love shifters, fated bonds, found-family vibes, and slow-burn drama with teeth.

My fourth book by Irene Daniels did not disappoint! 😍
Who doesn’t love a paranormal romance with werewolves, vampires, and humans? 🐺🦇✨

Sadie Collins learned far too young what love can cost. After her mother’s murder, she watched her father crumble under grief. Since then, she’s kept her heart at a safe distance, content to admire love from afar rather than risk being destroyed by it.

Enter Cooper Baastian Volchyakrov, the sole heir to a powerful werewolf dynasty. When Sadie and Cooper’s paths collide, distance becomes impossible and secrets start to crack. Getting too close could cost Cooper everything… and loving him might finally break Sadie. 💔🔥

The story is beautifully split into two parts:
Part 1: One intense week at age 18 — character introductions, sparks fly, conflicts ignite, and bonds are forged under pressure.
Part 2: Follows them from 21 to nearly 29 — watching them grow, face life’s challenges, and navigate their connection over the years.

I absolutely adored Sadie and Cooper, and the supporting characters are just as memorable. Donny and his bond with Sadie stole my heart, and Sheridan quickly became another favorite. 💖

Irene Daniels’ writing style is immersive and well-paced, blending emotional, character-driven prose with vivid worldbuilding. She balances romantic tension with supernatural or fantastical elements, creating settings that feel alive while keeping the story moving.

Add this one to your TBR If you love character-driven paranormal romance with steamy, fade-to-black romance, and a fantasy world that feels alive. ✨📚

Thank you so much @irenedaniles for continuing to trust me as an arc reader! I loved getting lost in this world!

Not for me, but not a bad book

I wanted to love this book so badly. Truly. On paper, it sounded exactly like something I would eat up, so going into it I had high hopes. In the end, I’d probably land around a 3.5-star read.

There were things I really loved. The romance was genuinely beautiful—flawed in the same way the characters were flawed—and because of that, it felt real. I loved the found family vibes and the themes of finding yourself and growing into who you’re meant to be. I also appreciated how the story followed the MCs through their early lives and didn’t shy away from honesty. The prose itself was good, and at times, really lovely.

Where this lost me was the character logic. I genuinely struggled to understand the MCs’ reasoning a lot of the time, especially during their arguments. Some of the fights—if you can even call them that—just didn’t make sense to me. It often felt like they were saying the same thing, or going back and forth without actually getting anywhere. I reread the first argument four times trying to figure out what they were really upset about. At first, I thought maybe it was just me, but it became a recurring issue throughout the book. The repetition in the conflicts and the emotional back-and-forth kept pulling me out of the story.

That said, this is a good book. I can absolutely see a lot of readers loving it, and sometimes not clicking with a story comes down more to personal preference than poor storytelling. If the synopsis speaks to you, I’d still recommend giving it a shot.

This slow burn romance is a typical young lovers turns tragedy turns HEA. Cooper and Sadie have known each other their whole lives. Their moms were basically best friends. Sadie’s looses her mom and is forced to grow up, during that time she looses her father as well and is forced to grow up and take care of her two younger siblings. Cooper has always loved Sadie but they have grown apart, being the popular cool guy and Sadie the shy theater nerd they didn’t have the same circle. Cooper was betrothed to Bridget whom seemed like the safe/smart choice she was smart and came from a prominent family… or so coopers family thought. You find out cooper has a secret he’s not your typical human boy but a werewolf, and Bridget is a soon to be changed vampire if she manages to trap cooper in her web. There are so many ups and downs in this book. Over all an amazing story super detailed and so much character building. The ending was sweet and well deserved! HEA indeed!

I honestly had a love/hate relationship with this book. The premise was unique, a love story spanning a decade, however the execution fell flat for me.

The MMC was fantastic. He was everything I look for in one. The FMC was so immature and never really seemed to grow up. I am not a fan of people/characters who blame their bad decisions on others. I spent most of the book angry at her total selfishness. The other characters were equally abhorrent and hard to like until the final few chapters. Aside from the MMC, most of the characters lacked background, development, and growth that I look for in understanding how a story is unfolding.

Without a doubt, the best part of the book was the final 20%. If the writing and pacing had been like this for the whole book I would have rated it 5⭐️. The ending was absoltely beautiful and perfect. I had tears in my eyes.

Final rating: 3.5⭐️for weaving such a heart-pounding, beautiful ending.

The first half is an intro into the world during peak high school hormones and is important to the second part of the story, or in my opinion the main story. However, without part one, part 2 makes no sense. I say this because I enjoyed and loved Part 2 with my full heart, more so than part 1.

I absolutely adore how the characters growth happens in part 2 of the book. Seeing them all become adults. I was happy when Sadie’s choices get her a swift reprimand from her friends, finally ( she needed the swift k -ick in the but*)

Sadie a human FMC who struggles with grief and self confidence. She also has no idea about the supernatural world.

Cooper the MMC who is boy next door grew up with Sadie

What a flipping ending, the story must continues! Cliff hanger much 🤯

Key points in no particular order:
- Vampires
- Werewolves
- Humans
- turning
- f!ghting factions
- Afraid to loose yourself
- Her own worst enemy
- Love lost
- Running away from love
- Cliff hanger
- plot twists
- Spicy 2/5

I enjoyed the characters and the writing style the most. The relationship between Sadie and Cooper feels real and layered—it’s not just a simple love story, but one filled with tension, history, and supernatural stakes.

The scene where Sadie and Cooper audition together in the theater really stood out. It was intense, romantic, and felt like a turning point in their relationship. You could feel the electricity between them, even though they were “acting.”

there are small things... such as Bridget’s motivation – While she’s a good villain, her switch from “sweet girlfriend” to “evil vampire heir” is very sudden. A few more hints earlier could make her twist feel more natural. .. and the Pacing in the middle – Some sections (like the school hallways and some internal monologues) slow down a bit. Tightening these could keep the tension higher.

Overall I recommend this book for those who love Teen romance, supernatural secrets and emotional character-driven stories.

I had the opportunity to read this as an ARC. I really liked the overall story and themes, and believe this would be a good YA read for those who enjoy a light read and young naive love stories.

Unfortunately I couldn't finish the book; I read up to halfway before I had to stop. Personally I found the writing style to be a bit tedious and chaotic; there were time skips that didn't really make sense, sudden changes in POV, poorly timed explanations, and at times it was unclear how the FMC was supposed to be feeling or responding to situations because she flipped through the whole rainbow of emotions within one moment.
On one hand this could be seen as reflective of a teenagers tumultuous mind, but on the other it feels almost rushed with indecision for how these characters and situations were going to unfold.

I think there is alot of space for the story and characters to grow, so I hope other readers are able to enjoy the story more.

Fighting Moonlight is an emotional, atmospheric romance that pulled me in from the very first chapter. Irene Daniels has a gift for crafting scenes so vivid that I felt like I was standing right beside the characters, feeling the cool night air, hearing the tension in their voices, and soaking in every spark that passed between them. Her writing made it incredibly easy to imagine myself inside the story.

The characters are layered and imperfect in the best ways. Their struggles feel real, and the slow burn between them unfolds with just the right amount of tension and tenderness.

Overall, Fighting Moonlight is a beautifully written, heartfelt romance that lingers long after the last page. A strong 4-star read that I’d happily recommend to anyone who loves immersive storytelling and characters you can’t help but root for.

Very lucky to receive an ARC copy of this book, and for someone who’s not normally a romance reader I found it a very enjoyable read.
While the romance was the main focus of the story, there was enough action and plot happening alongside to make it truly gripping, and I really liked the fact the timeline of the book spans nearly a decade so we can watch the characters mature and their feelings grow and develop naturally. The emotion poured into this book was intense, and it had a really deep, bittersweet feel to it as the characters struggled to come to terms with their feelings for one another.
I also really enjoyed how much thought was put into the supporting characters, each one has their own in-depth backstory that makes them who they are and I would definitely love to explore that more in further books!

Received an ARC of Fighting Moonlight by Irene Daniels. Thank you for giving me the chance to read your book.

This is a werewolf shifter romance book about our FMC Sadie, who is human and the MMC Cooper who is a werewolf shifter. The story spans several years from when they were 18 years old up until they are 27. The story's plot started off strong. Not only was there romance, but there were other supernaturals (vampires) in the story. I thought there was so much potential for the plot to be more, but it kind of seemed like it got off track and then the rest of the book was just filler. It centered around the whole idea of will she or won’t she. The last 50, maybe 70 pages were the best part of the story, but even it felt kind of rushed.

I just don’t think this book was for me, but if you like werewolves and an angst that is a little on the weaker side then this may be for you.

I received this book as an ARC and leaving my honest review.

This book was not what I thought I was getting from reading the synopsis. It starts out in a high school setting and seems to focus on teen drama, feeling inadequate, and cheating. Being in third person pov took me a bit to connect with the characters. While I would've liked for the high school part to be shorter it was not bad just a me preference.
Once I got past those parts I really started to enjoy the story. I love the comedy and world building the author gave us. The MC are both flawed and struggling with things that make them more relatable. It is a romance that grows from childhood friends to fated mates. For anyone who enjoys a fated mates it's definitely a good book to read.

This was such a great book and you need to read it:

We have a love interest from when they are children, although fate and family obligations kept them apart for 10 years - we have werewolves, vampires, baby vampires, death, murder, lost love, vampire counsels, and a diabolical twist at the end of book one.

There was definte character growth in this book, the female leads father, her siblings, her best friend, the main female lead and the main male lead. It kept my interest and I didn't want it to end, because I wanted a happy ending.

You will have to read it to see if there was one!

This was a very complex novel. It started out with me feeling sorry for Sadie and wanting her to finally get together with the guy she loved all through school. Then I went to almost hating her for what she puts Cooper through because of her trauma and selfishness. I cried so hard for what Cooper was going through. Also I cried for how Sadie felt when Alec was turned. Then I felt relief when Sadie finally came to her senses. So many emotions and such turmoil in one book. Wow! I highly recommend this book to all paranormal romance readers.

Okay, first off. I laughed my booty off I absolutely love Alec and I hope there is more about him 🤣 The world building was so good I immersed myself in it. The plot was easy to follow and you kept wanting more! The FMC drove me nuts throughout the book LOL I was like get it together! MMC gives everything you want in a werewolf. He’s so protective and understanding it’s next level and you are wanting it for herself. Trauma, banter, understanding. Vampires are the monsters that go bump in the night. Overall an amazing read and would recommend! -Kerin Ray

This was a decent read, but not quite a standout for me. The third-person POV isn’t my favorite, and some sections felt a bit clunky in pacing and flow.

That said, the humor was well balanced and genuinely enjoyable, and the world-building was strong and immersive. Overall, a solid book with clear strengths. I would happily read something from this author again!

I really enjoyed this book! I always gravitate toward wolf romance stories. In this one, it was a wolf and a human. I loved the focus on family/pack - even a vampire was family. The interaction between Sadie and Cooper was so good. I wish she would have gotten over her issues sooner, but it was awesome when she did. The only thing I didn’t like about this book is waiting for the next book in the series! Great read.

I liked the concept, the division into two parts, but I wish part 1 was shorter and part 2 was more detailed. It was difficult to connect with Sadie; she's a character full of fears and she harms herself and her own happiness... I believe that was the author's message, but it makes the story "distressing" to read.

I loved this book. It felt intimate and raw, like the author was speaking straight to my soul instead of just telling a story. The emotions lingered long after I put it down, and there were moments that genuinely made me pause and breathe. I decided to softly DNF this book, I found it to be quite slow and I got to about 1/4 of the it. It has a thousand boy kisses vibes with fantasy to be honest, and the cover is stunning! I think this would've been better if I continued it, but I prefer when you get straight to the point. Thanks for this copy and I wish all the best!

2.5🌟

I really struggled with this one, the fmc is annoyingly basic to everyone but the mmc, even her best friend (male) says she's basic and couldn't get someone like the mmc. This carries onto adulthood as well. I find it so frustrating when this is made to matter. The FMC is so caught up that the MMC is too good for her that she would rather be wildly unhappy than accept love from someone who adores her.

All feels pretty juvenile early on, I really struggled through the first 25% and nearly DNF'd a few times.

Alot of talk of chemistry from very little evidence of it. They've been fated but there is no evidence of history, just some talk about how they were inseparable when they were kids.

They are mated and she has never felt so content in her life, yet cuts him out of her life for years...Let's her past get in the way, it was infuriating. Like someone who apparently picked up the pieces after her mother's death really can't be that naive!

Not much happens for the first 70% of the book, it could be disguised as world building but I didnt find it interesting at all. It kicks off with some supernatural drama between werewolves and vampires but that seems to disappear as the story continues and just turns into a story about how Sadie is avoiding being with someone because she doesn't want to be like her dad. The in the last chapter you get a glimpse of the vampires again.

It is written in third person, which wouldn't usually bother me but it skips between different povs too much within chapters that I lost track of who we were following.

I really wanted to enjoy this book and the premise is something I would usually enjoy but it just fell flat for me.
