Christmas Toys

Rate this book
The holidays have never been hotter.

Bridget needs a roommate to help make rent, but her job making erotic lesbian content from her home studio is a bit hard to swallow. But when her former coworker Victoria contacts her looking urgently for a place to move in for a few months, she can’t turn down the opportunity.

The last thing Victoria wanted was to go home for the holidays. Escaping her hometown to Seattle was her big break, but now that her job’s fallen through, having to see her family again is a Christmas nightmare.
But when her old coworker Bridget not only gives her a place to stay, but also a safe place from her family, Victoria finds maybe it’s not all bad back in her hometown. The only question is what Bridget’s secret work she does behind closed doors is—and what to do when her family mistakes Bridget for Victoria’s girlfriend.

Christmas Toys is an erotic holiday romance with a sexy roommate and opposites-attract heat, messy families, and smoldering mutual pining that ignites in a five-alarm fire. Content warnings for open-door sex scenes, difficult family dynamics, mention of past sexual harassment, exhibitionism, semi-public play, denial, toys, cameras, and enough heat to burn the pages.

This is probably my favourite romance novel from Lily Seabrooke; it was a page turner, with fun characters, excellent humour and a satisfying (and very steamy) romance. As usual, you'll find a few characters that are, err... non-realistic (looking at you Gran), but it's all in good fun, and, honestly, the more relaxed you are going into this book (the less you take yourself and it seriously), the more fun you'll have with it - it's basically a hot mug of hot chocolate distilled into a book; charming, warm, and smile-inducing.

It is getting hot in here?! LOL This was a delightful holiday read! I absolutely adored Bridget! She was so open and thoughtful and like sunshine on a warm day. She was also a horny little thing that really deserves to find someone that not only loves her for all of her and who she is but also who will keep up with her and support her in any way they can.

Enter Victoria. She is so sweet and kind and also very much repressed emotionally and physically ;). She doesn’t believe she is enough for anyone, least of all her family.

Not too long ago, Bridget and Victoria worked at the same place and had a pleasant working relationship so naturally Bridget is the person Victoria calls when she coming back to town and needs help.

A dreamy roommates to lovers story set around the holidays by an amazing author! Highly recommend!!.

I'm confused at how you can be a lesbian 🌽 creator and yet be so jumpy and skittish around your 'straight' roommate. I get that some people might not want to share that part of their life, but she sooo over dramatic for no reason - like either own it or don't.

Part sexy comedy-of-errors, part friends-to-fling-to-lovers romance, part heartwarming holiday read, Christmas Toys is a delightful and delicious sapphic story to make this year’s Yuletide especially gay.

Bridget is a lovable and quirky adult content creator obliged to hide her salacious freelance work from Victoria, her sweet but seemingly straitlaced new roommate. The attraction that eventually sparks between them flames hotter than a blazing fireplace in winter, but the inevitable gift of deeper feelings has to be unwrapped layer by layer. The unveiling is more than worth it as the two charming heroines navigate family drama, career changes, surprise adult toy deliveries…and turkey tacos.

Christmas Toys was a steamy quick read but it also had depth and substance. How family trauma can weasel its way into every part of our life if not worked through, how taboo adult entertainment still is and how hypocritical people can be towards erotic content creators even when they secretly consume their content.

I loved Victoria and Bridget so much. They felt relatable, they made many mistakes along the way, but still worked through it and came together in the end. Opposites really do attract.

Also, the description of those tacos made me nauseous.

Thank you to Lily Seabrooke and Booksprout for providing me with an eARC.

Damn I devoured this book.

Lily Seabrooke can't seem to help but put out my favourite Christmas book every year. Last year's "A Break in Communications" stole my heart with an incredible one sided enemies to lovers story. This year, "Christmas Toys" absolutely grabbed me with its "What if you were an adult content creator who worked from home but suddenly had a roommate who doesn't know? (Also the new roommate is unbearably hot)" premise.

The tension between the characters is so good. Love the "Uh oh, I masturbated thinking about you and now can't look at you" trope. Also having the sex worker be the more stable and emotionally mature one was really refreshing. Too often sex workers are portrayed really negatively so I really enjoyed some positive representation.

The spice. Damn. This might be the best yet for Lily Seabrooke. I always love how she does spicy scenes but this book feels like a whole other level. The book having such a relaxed attitude about sex allowed it to go places other books wouldn't. Each scene was hotter than the last and that epilogue. Wow.

This book is great for anyone who likes their girls cute and a little slutty, has ever been to an awkward Christmas dinner with terrible food to support their "roommate" or just wants a well written romance.

If you're looking for a spicy book that's also light-hearted with some interesting characters, this is a good choice. It's about an adult content creator (Bridget) trying to hide her job from her new roommate (Victoria) while also struggling with the fact that her new roommate is... really hot.
I enjoyed it!

The tacos made me want to vomit too.

Upon reading the first page, I had a feeling this would be a fun, spicy read from Lily. It helped start the holiday season off right for me. It is a nice romance with a lot of naughty spice. There is even a dash of mommy issues just to make it more like the holidays. I suggest this read if you get a little chilly this time of year.

An ambitious office worker comes to room with an ex coworker after a bad end to her employment. Just hope she doesn't find out that her new roommate has moved on to the field of erotic lesbian media creation ands streaming...

Christmas Toys is a joy of a book to read. The ladies are cute as hell, the romance is a delight, and the sex is wonderful, but really, what struck me most reading this book was the joyful comedic vibe.

Sure, one of them's got a family full of repressed emotions and things left unsaid, but when we actually meet them, the result is a laugh riot as we try to navigate very normal conversation such as "what do you do for work" without hinting at "people jack off to me". Also there's the gay thing going on simultaenously. And the worst part, their holiday meal is the most repulsive food ever made, and they can never know.

"They can never know" about sums up the narrative thrust of this book, honestly. This is a book about the damage repression does to you and your relationships, it's a book about finding the courage to put yourself and your emotions out there, let people know where you stand, let them see your love and your pain.

It does this by engaging with said family; It does it by the drama created when, inevitably, our poor unemployed office work roommate finally figures out when her new roommate does, and proceeds to... explore her offerings; It does it by allowing us into the life of someone who's so, so open with her friends in her own line of work, where getting off together on call is just a normal friend thing; and letting her attempt to not become a wrecking ball in a life that seems so completely her opposite.

Not that it works for her, of course. This isn't a book about restraint. And thank goodness, because I wouldn't give up the spice here for anything, it's so fun. Highly recommended. Expect to laugh and get turned on.

I’m having to fan myself over here. Lily Seabrooke has managed to deliver what is likely to be the steamiest holiday story I think I’ve ever read. I simply could not put it down! Just had to keep reading! This one absolutely goes beyond the 5 chilli rating.

I loved the balance between the two characters, Bridget, an adult media content creator with a strong sense of self, balanced against the closeted emotional wreck that is Victoria, traumatised by her puritanical upbringing and struggling to believe anyone could possibly want or love her. In need of a safe place to stay after quitting her job and fleeing back to her hometown, but still wanting to keep her distance from her family, Victoria calls on Bridget (a former work colleague) for help finding somewhere to live. When Bridget offers her the spare bedroom in her apartment, little do either of them realise just how hot things were going to get……particularly once Victoria discovers what Bridget is now doing for a living.

While the story is full of smouldering pining, and even hotter connection, I really enjoyed the fact that this was also balanced out by a very important message: that is we all need to feel safe and loved in order to be able to love and accept ourselves.

I am grateful to the author for providing me with an ARC copy of Christmas Toys via Booksprout and am leaving this review voluntarily.

While spicy scenes aren’t completely unheard of in Lily Seabrooke books, this one tends to be even spicier than what I’ve experienced.

Bridget is an erotic lesbian content creator who is contacted by an old-coworker, Victoria (a coworker in a relatively tame job, as well as boeing one who knows nothing about Bridget’s new career), asking if she knows of any place she can stay, as she is moving back from Seattle suddenly. Bridget ends up inviting Victoria to stay with her. A bit of comedy of errors plays as Bridget attempts to keep Victoria from finding out what she actually does.

It’s quite easy to go into a book like this and assume that Bridget would be a more hard-edged character who has to push Victoria. But Bridget is a delightfully sweet character, and while Victoria comes across as a bit naive to certain things, but as someone who is still open. The supporting characters are alkl interesting, even Victoria’s mother (and it’s usually the parents in a Lily Seabrooke book that are often the weak point to me).

There is plenty of humor in the book, and, while the novel is ripe for cringe humor, it never devolves to it. Seabrooke has published a lot of great books this year, and I think Christmas Toys continues that trend.

I have to start by saying: those tacos are a crime against Humanity!

With that out of the way: this was holiday reading perfection. It was light, funny, hot, and then turned out to have surprising emotional depth. All in a “right-sized” package!

Bridget’s career makes a great starting point for most of it — the tension, the humor, the spice… but despite her anything-goes attitude toward work, in a surprise reversal she seems to be more emotionally mature than office professional Victoria. They make a great contrast, and Bridget trying to hide her work from Victoria is both dramatic and hilarious. Perhaps with more weight toward hilarious — I’m thinking of the kitchen scene we see first from Victoria’s perspective, then Bridget’s!

Anyway, Victoria’s family makes an excellent challenge, and Bridget rises to it, and I loved Nan, and I guess that’s all I’ll say about that.

I dunno, everything just seemed so well-balanced: it was light but not too light, funny but not to the point of absurdity, dramatic but not to the point of spoiling the fun, the characters were great without being over the top (I mean, we can debate Nan, but I think she gets a pass), it was hot but didn’t get carried away with it… basically I thought everything worked wonderfully well together. I’d love to have another!

While my moods have been all over the place this year, and as such some of Lily Seabrooke’s recent releases haven’t hit for me like her previous ones, Christmas Toys was a nice holiday treat, with a perfect blend of the coziness I want from such stories, while also being incredibly sexy.
Bridget being an adult/erotic content creator was particularly fun, and I liked what that brought to the narrative, especially with the tension between her and Victoria, who is very much her opposite. But this just foreshadows a sensual development between them, where Victoria lets her guard down. And I also quite liked that Victoria was a bit more emotionally complex, while Bridget is the more stable one, which defies stereotypes for both their character archetypes.
But this all makes sense, with the story delving into some deeper issues, particularly relating to Victoria’s toxic, puritanical family, and I appreciate the way that was handled, while also still maintaining a cozier tone.
This is such a fun read, and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a sweet, yet sexy short sapphic book to add to your holiday reading!.

Bridget is a erotic content creator, but isn't doing as well as she wants. She's surprised to be contacted by a old work friend (back when she had a office job) named Victoria, who needs a rental. Now. B's friend Nikki points out that B herself has a spare room... rent it to Victoria for now. But Victoria doesn't know what she does for a living.

Then Victoria arrives and she's SO much cuter than Brudget remembered. And shockingly sweet and nice, which causes Bridget to crush on her immediately.

Victoria soon notices that Bridget is evasive about what she does, other than working from home. Victoria is gay, actually, but isn't sure she should come out to her.

Circumstances cause Victoria's Mom to invite her and Bridget over, and she learns her brother, Keith, intends to come out.

Then Victoria stumbles over one of Bridget's x-rated feeds via her online name. Oops.

Surprisingly Bridget is a big hit with Victoria's mom, much to both their shocks. Once they get home V confesses she found B's porn, and admits she found it very hot.

They start seeing each other (have lots of sex) but Victoria doesn't really believe in love. Still...

4 out of 5 stars, half a point off as I do think they jumped into bed fast. But good, funny and erotic book.

As the title suggests, this is pretty spicy and a little bit kinky. But maybe expect constant horniness rather than a lot of spice. It's a very entertaining and quite funny read about overcoming childhood trauma and reconnecting to family and at the same time surviving your hot roommate all while discovering that you're actually a sexual human being.

The story was honest in a reckless and realistic kind of way. The sexual attraction was well done, very obvious, but for the most part of the book, the romantic connection was lacking and then happened rather quickly.
I loved all the characters. They were pretty much all outgoing and quirky and hilarious.

The writing style was clever and cute. It's like someone babbling, but not annoyingly. Although it would've been really nice if it were distinctive to just one character's voice.

There was witty dialogue and good communication (up until the final conflict). In the end, I was a bit annoyed at one of the MCs for not getting over her issues and the resolution was underwhelming for me.
But I loved how Bridget just casually and accurately analysed all of these family members' issues.

I will definitely check out the author's other books.

Christmas Toys is an absolute delight—a heartwarming holiday romance that captures the magic of the season while delivering a story full of charm and emotional depth. Lily Seabrooke has a gift for creating characters that feel real and relatable, and in this book, their chemistry shines from the very first page. The festive setting is beautifully described, immersing you in cozy winter vibes and the joy of giving.
What makes this story stand out is its balance of sweet holiday traditions with genuine emotional stakes. It’s not just about twinkling lights and presents; it’s about love, second chances, and finding happiness when you least expect it. The pacing is perfect, keeping you engaged without feeling rushed, and the dialogue sparkles with warmth and humor.
If you’re looking for a feel-good read that will leave you smiling long after the last page, Christmas Toys is a must-read. It’s the kind of book that makes you want to curl up with a blanket, sip hot cocoa, and believe in the magic of the holidays.

Right off the bat, I want to make it clear that the spice in this book is not the cozy cinnamon spice of a gingerbread latte. This spice is ghost pepper, deliciously hot spice.

Now onto the book itself. Both Veronica and Bridget were lovable characters. I especially enjoyed Bridget and her friends with how comfortable and confident they were with their lives, careers, and desire to chase what made them happy. Veronica struggled with all of these things, and little by little the innate goodness and caring nature of Bridget helped her.

There was a low amount of angst, and it was all well supported, without being shoehorned into the plot to create conflict. The side characters were well done, especially Nan, who was a wonderfully hilarious surprise.

If you're looking for a sweet holiday treat that also is fully embracing the erotic pleasure of sex, look no further!.

From the first paragraph, I knew this story was going to be fun. The character of Bridget suprised me with how much she enjoyed her vocational activities. I don't think I've ever met a girl like her in my life. I wish I did!
The romance between Bridget and Veronica was intense when it finally started. I thought this was a romance story that blossoms till the end of the story and felt terrible when Veronica fell back to her Seattle days. Happy now the story didn't disappoint. Fun, sex, toys, really bad tacos, good sex, men, women, fantastic sex, cookies, cinnamon rolls, hot chocolate, and did I mention sex? What more in a best story. A very good book.

in which the OnlyFans model (or OnlyFans-style platform) isn't the one with commitment issues

it's a fun little story. a little short for my taste, but the spice starts at two useless sapphics secretly shame-masturbating to each other and only ramps up from there. toxic family, but not like Finding Home by Jacqueline Ramsden toxic family. less this family needs to be locked inside a burning building, more look the emotionally distant mother is learning to compliment her child. funny as well, I'm learning the author's baseline seems to be funny and really really horny. also a pairing that demonstrates communicating clearly and going after what you want does not preclude being a lesbian disaster

after the turkey taco fiasco I need the author to please never describe food again please

Make sure you wear oven mitts while reading this book or the heat just might burn you! In true Lily fashion, this book is equal parts deeply emotional and funny but this one also brings a level of heat I haven't seen from Lily yet. Bridget and Victoria are the perfect "power couple" in ways that make Victoria's mom want to faint but Nan is a big fan!

Curl up with this one for a truly hot holiday read, but with a lot of heart.

With this book, I got exactly what I expect from this author...humor, spice, and a unique storyline. This story is told with alternating points of view, something I've grown more and more fond of. Each of our main characters has a distinct inner dialog which is skillfully presented with humor and emotion. The family drama around the holidays is well written and one can't help rooting for Bridget and Victoria. This is a fantastic holiday read.

Why did this book feel so short? Maybe I just read it too fast! It was fun and the characters were cute. I was a little confused about Victoria's family dynamics until later in the story, which might have been a reading comprehension issue. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart, and I would put it more in the erotica category than the romance category. I'm more a fan of romance myself but I'll read nearly anything Lily Seabrooke writes and this didn't disappoint!!.

The story of Bridget and Victoria was one of the hottest stories I have read. I had to stop a couple of times to cool myself off. This story shows how opposites attract, but can fit together perfectly. Victoria did not think she was worthy of love and Bridget wanted to find love and find someone she could be herself with. They finally got things straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Oh the toys! There is nothing like new toys at Christmas!

Lily Seabrooke has a delightful imagination that we all get to benefit from in this story. Woman who worked in an uptight corporate setting, both moved on and come back together in very different circumstances. Different career moves have separated them even further than miles. They reconnect and the fires are kindled. Let’s just say they join forces, heat rises and love blooms. This is a fun Christmas read for sure.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. With the various family and emotional challenges the MCs faced along with the ultimate HEA for them made this a page turner. Definitely made it interesting with what one of the MCs careers was and how that played into everything. Definitely recommend this as a holiday romance read.

Definitely not one for reading in public.
Bridget works as an “adult content creator” and is very comfortable with her sexuality. Her new roommate Victoria is buttoned up and repressed. They both think the other is straight.
The story takes them to their HEA (via a lot of sexy scenes!)
Recommended for when you want something spicy.

My jaw was on the floor from the first chapter. It starts great and honestly does well in the spice department. The twist of one of the main characters being a multimedia lesbian smut content creator was more interesting than I thought it would be. It brought different dynamics to the story that you couldn't get any other way.

Toys and Christmas what a pair

This Christmas book is very spicy and gets you going with Blair in the industry on social media giving people what they want to help them release. Her apartment is to a much and her lease is due in a few months. An ex co worker Victoria who need a place for a few months to get back on her feet. Things get crazy with Victoria family and the crazy tacos that are just to much. A great Christmas story to read for sure

This is a solid, spicy, sapphic holiday romance romance with a very interesting premise. Bridget makes erotic content and when Victoria needs a place to stay they start living together. But of course Bridget is trying to keep her work secret, so lots of evasion and distraction ensue. Add in some family drama from Victoria, and you've got a messy romance full of mutual pining. This is super hot, and has some substance to back it up.

A nice steamy, quick story. The premise was pretty unlike anything I’d read before so that was fun. It’s so unabashedly raunchy in the best way. Bridget and Victoria are hot and sweet all at the same time. I think the story delved into good topics with Victoria’s family trauma and insecurity. Maybe not as deep or as strong as I would’ve liked, but it gave some body to a story that could’ve easily been only smut.
