Gemini by T. A. Welton is an utterly compelling thriller. After losing her identical twin sister to a brutal murder, Whitney Hudson, consumed with grief, travels to Florida where the killing took place and assumes her sister’s identity in an attempt to uncover the truth. The journey she goes on is a dangerous one, but it’s also an emotional rollercoaster, not just in the context of her sister’s murder, but in her own life too.
I found the pacing in this story to be spot on, with enough twists and turns to keep me guessing right to the end, and I was completely absorbed from the start. I always know when I’ve found a good book by the fact that I can’t wait to get back to it whenever I’ve had to put it down, and that’s what this story did. Whitney herself is wonderfully crafted - warm, funny and fierce, but with a vulnerable side too. The dialogue feels very authentic, which I always love, and the writing is vivid and evocative. It was a wonderful treat to also find such beautiful scenic descriptions in a thriller, and the ending genuinely moved me. I will definitely be reading more from T.A. Welton, and I can’t recommend this book highly enough!
