Some audios entertain you... and then there are audios that completely consume your life for a couple of days. Out of the Wild was definitely the latter. I flew through this story in under 48 hours because I simply enjoyed The narrative. It had me feeling everything—frustration, heartbreak, hope, laughter, and plenty of swoony moments along the way.
Maddie's journey was one of my favorite parts of the audio. I'll admit, there were moments early on when I wanted to scream, "You deserve so much better!" But as more of her past came to light, her choices became heartbreakingly understandable. After years of emotional abuse, manipulation, and constantly being made to feel like she wasn't enough, watching her slowly reclaim her confidence and recognize her worth was incredibly satisfying. Seeing her carry the weight of caring for her mother while so many others failed to step up only made me admire her even more.
Riggs completely stole my heart. He's the perfect example of a rugged exterior hiding the softest soul. His patience, kindness, and willingness to build trust before romance made him impossible not to love. His openness about his family and personal struggles added so much emotional depth, and every vulnerable moment between him and Maddie made me root for them even harder.
The supporting characters deserve their flowers too. Ash and Rhonda weren't just side characters—they became the foundation that helped keep Maddie and Riggs grounded through the chaos. And Elsie? I need her story immediately. She's smart, fearless, and effortlessly commands every scene she's in.
The chemistry between Maddie and Riggs definitely delivers. The spice is plentiful and certainly turns up the heat. While a few intimate moments felt like they arrived a little unexpectedly, they never took away from the emotional connection and overall story.
What really stood out to me was how much this book focused on healing, self-worth, found family, and learning to accept the love you deserve. It balances emotional moments with romance beautifully, making it a story that's easy to become completely invested in.
If you're looking for a romance filled with emotional growth, lovable characters, meaningful friendships, plenty of chemistry, and a hero you'll absolutely fall for.

When starting this story, be mindful that the beginning is much darker than the rest of the storyline. We’re introduced to our FMC and her current boyfriend (a complete piece of garbage who very rightfully becomes an ex), and there is on-page domestic abuse.
Once you get past that, the tone shifts, and we’re introduced to our golden retriever, green-flag MMC, which was a very welcome change.
Our MMC is a self-made billionaire YouTuber who spends months at a time filming wild survival adventures with his brother. I really appreciated that there was more depth to him beyond just this. He felt well-rounded and layered as a character. Both main characters carry their own grief and hardships, and that shared weight is part of what brings them together.
While I truly enjoyed the MMC and many of the secondary characters, I struggled with our FMC. I completely understand that it can take time to recognize and leave a toxic, abusive relationship, so I did feel for her in the beginning. However, something about her continued to bother me.
As the story progresses and she enters a relationship with our MMC knowing full well that his career keeps him away for months at a time, I found her reactions frustrating. Through her internal thoughts, she acknowledges that the situation may not work, yet she jumps in anyway and quickly begins to complain about the very thing she already knew would be an issue.
It came across as petty and unsupportive, especially since this is his livelihood. There didn’t seem to be much effort to find compromise or build something that could realistically work long-term.
If the right person is involved, long-distance for a couple of years, especially with the ability to spend some time throughout, is absolutely doable. But the way things unfolded here made it feel like her insecurities and concerns mirrored those of his past relationships, rather than showing growth
By the end, I found myself more invested in her friend—a secondary character—and the relationship developing there.

I devoured this in under 48 hours, which is always a sign that a book has its claws in you and refuses to let go. Every emotion landed. Anger, frustration, lust, giddy, toe-wiggling happiness… I felt the full chaotic spectrum.
Maddie nearly had me pacing the room early on. I wanted to shake her like a stubborn snow globe and yell “please raise your standards.” But the more her past unfolded, the more it made sense. Years of emotional abuse from her dad and brothers, paired with a parade of questionable exes, had trained her to accept far less than she deserved. Once she had her wake-up moment and started standing in her own strength, I was fully in her corner. I will say, I personally would not have forgiven her brothers quite so quickly… but I am a professional grudge-holder, so take that as you will. What she carried on her shoulders, caring for her mum while the men conveniently vanished from responsibility, was nothing short of admirable.
Riggs… this man. A full mountain of a human with a surprisingly tender core. I felt for him and his struggles with relationships, though realistically, effort has to come from both sides. What really won me over was how he approached Maddie. Starting with friendship despite his feelings, opening up about his mum and her illness… it all melted my frosty little heart.
Ash and Rhonda deserve their own spotlight. They could have easily faded into the background, but instead they burned bright. Their dynamic added depth, and they played such an important role in grounding Maddie and Riggs when everything started to unravel. And Elsie… I need a book about her immediately. The confidence, the power, the business brain… how she came out of that family dynamic thriving is honestly impressive.

I give this a 3.5 ⭐
The start of this story does a pretty good job of describing what it's like living with abuse from different people in your life. You can see how Maddie (FMC) doesn't comprehend what is/has been happening to her is abuse. As the reader it's frustrating but to me it shows that that is what really happens when you know someone in those types of relationships.
The relationship between Maddie and her mom is beautiful. It definitely brings all the emotions out as you go through their journey together.
I enjoyed the meet cute of the characters and their relationship progression flowed well until they start to actually be in a relationship. Their chemistry together is so good , he understands her so well. Maddie then starts to become unreasonable in her expectations going into it. Before they date she knows it's a bad idea and all the reasons why but decides to try it anyways. Then when it goes exactly how she and Riggs (MMC) knew it would she becomes the worst version of herself. Riggs attempts to constantly make sure she is ok and reassured in their relationship while all she does is give him some good blow jobs. While I understand long distance is hard and makes any relationship harder, it is doable. I know that not everyone is ok with it but she knew what it was and she knew she couldn't handle it and still did it then was frustrated with how it was ending up 🙄. Riggs was willing to give it all up for her but honestly I didn't even want him to make that an option for her. 3 years of long distance is nothing in the comparison of being in an abusive relationship for 4 years. Then as he says he will come find her when his contract is up to see if she is still single and she says she knows she will just show she is going to think about him for the next 3 years pining and regretting... so why the third act breakup?
This story definitely took too long to tell for what the story is. There is some good comedic banter but some of the dialogue felt choppy. FMC is a strong woman and the MMC is the kind compassionate Greek god we all love to swoon over. Still a good read overall!

A chaotic yet enjoyable ride that balances high-intensity emotion with a romance that feels earned.
The Vibes & Tropes
- Dual POV (always a win!)
- He falls first (and he falls hard)
- The "Labrador" MMC: Riggs is everything. He’s so respectful and patient while waiting for Maddie to be ready.
- Instant Attraction: Wow, the chemistry was handled so well. It wasn't just "insta-love" for the sake of it; the spark was actually believable.
The Spice Factor: 🌶️🌶️ (Open Door)
I loved that while we get those high-heat, open-door scenes, they actually meant something. Even the "personal time" scenes where they were just thinking about each other were scorching! But when they were finally together, it felt like it was truly about them as a couple and their emotional connection, which made the spice hit so much better.
The "I Need to Vent" Section 😅
I have to be real—the third-act breakup frustrated me big time. It felt like Maddie totally forgot what Riggs actually does for a living and then made him feel like rubbish about it. What really got to me was the lack of compromise. Riggs did so much work to overcome his past, but it felt like Maddie was just riding the gravy train and expecting him to give up everything.
I was also equal parts annoyed by Ash and Rhonda. Rhonda definitely got on my nerves, but I’m still low-key hoping they get a sequel so we can see that mess sorted out!
Final Thoughts
Despite the drama toward the end, it was a really enjoyable read. Just a heads-up: definitely check the trigger warnings. There’s some heavy stuff in there, though thankfully none of it is between the two main leads.
This book was a total whirlwind—honestly, it felt a bit chaotic at times, but I still had such a great time reading it!
Riggs is definitely the star of the show for me—we love a respectful king!

I loved that while we get those high-heat, open-door scenes, they actually meant something. Even the "personal time" scenes where they were just thinking about each other were scorching! But when they were finally together, it felt like it was truly about them as a couple and their emotional connection, which made the spice hit so much better.
The "I Need to Vent" Section 😅
I have to be real—the third-act breakup frustrated me big time. It felt like Maddie totally forgot what Riggs actually does for a living and then made him feel like rubbish about it. What really got to me was the lack of compromise. Riggs did so much work to overcome his past, but it felt like Maddie was just riding the gravy train and expecting him to give up everything.
I was also equal parts annoyed by Ash and Rhonda. Rhonda definitely got on my nerves, but I’m still low-key hoping they get a sequel so we can see that mess sorted out!
Final Thoughts
Despite the drama toward the end, it was a really enjoyable read. Just a heads-up: definitely check the trigger warnings. There’s some heavy stuff in there, though thankfully none of it is between the two main leads.
This book was a total whirlwind—honestly, it felt a bit chaotic at times, but I still had such a great time reading it!
Riggs is definitely the star of the show for me—we love a respectful king!

Their initial meeting is unique—she’s in a bikini and fur boots whilst he thinks he's lost on a mountain range—but there are sparks between them immediately.
I have to admit, I really didn't like Maddie for several chapters. She was far too much of a doormat, letting her family and her boyfriend walk all over her, and it took me a while to actually start liking her.
Riggs was a fantastic mmc. Even though he’s used to always leaving on his next adventure, the way he steps up for Maddie while she cares for her ill mother is really touching. They both have experience with a parent having cancer, and that shared grief gives their relationship a lot of heart and authenticity.
I feel that the book was far too long for the story; it did feel a bit dragged out by the end.
Sweetbriar Hollow is a very unique place, everyone knows everyone and they all help each other were they can. The town is obsessed with unusual food pairings, some sound delicious, others sound .... different.

This was such a sweet, emotional romance that perfectly balanced humor, heart, and healing. Riggs and Maddie's story pulled me in from the very beginning, and I loved watching two people with very different lives slowly find their way to each other.
Riggs is impossible not to love. His adventurous career as a travel YouTuber has always come first, but meeting Maddie makes him question whether chasing the next adventure is worth sacrificing the chance at lasting love. He's thoughtful, patient, and genuinely one of those green-flag heroes who makes you swoon.
Maddie's journey was especially moving. After surviving an abusive relationship, she's understandably guarded and hesitant to trust again. I appreciated that her healing wasn't rushed, and the author gave her the time and space she needed to rebuild her confidence. Watching Riggs earn that trust through kindness, respect, and unwavering support made their romance feel authentic and deeply satisfying.

I absolutely loved reading this book! Sweetbrier Hollow sounds amazing and I loved getting to know all the characters within the town. I definitely couldn't put this book down until I finished it either. Such a sweet emotional story, grab your tissues!

I was one of the lucky chosen ones to receive an ARC on Out of the Wild! While I absolutely loved the story, the characters, the connection between the main characters, there was so much to this story I feel like the bigger parts could have easily been broken into two books or we could have done without as much inner dialogue and let the characters carry the story with their own interactions. The storyline is so not like anything I’ve read before, and I truly enjoyed getting to see how things evolved for the characters and their goals/dreams while being from two completely different worlds.
Our poor Maddie is put through it and when you’re ready to put on your own fighting gloves on her behalf or smack her upside her head to wake up, along comes multibillionaire Riggs. Their chemistry is immediate… even through their denial. As Maddie deals with more heartache and disappointment than what seems fair, she quickly realizes Riggs has become her favorite person on her personal journey of strength.
As Maddie is learning to find herself and she and Riggs are learning to trust each other while recognizing the obvious attraction between them, they’re off on the adventure of a lifetime. The heartache doesn’t end there though… read this upcoming book to see if these two are ever able to find their HEA, with each other or not?

Thank you to the author for an ARC of this amazing book! I went in not knowing what to expect, and I was more than pleasantly surprised. This story strikes such a perfect balance of emotion, adventure, humor, and spice.
And seriously… the emotion? Have tissues ready.

Out of the Wild by Cataleya Briella was such a pleasant surprise for me. Riggs and Maddie are both firmly in their “dating is cancelled” era… until they meet each other. And instead of pointless drama, we get real conversations, real growth, and two people figuring it out without the exhausting miscommunication trope. WE LOVE TO SEE IT.
Riggs? Certified book boyfriend material. Adventurous, swoony, but also layered.
Maddie? Healing, guarded, and learning to choose herself again. Her insecurities felt honest, and watching her growth made their romance even sweeter.

This book tugged at my heart strings in all the right ways, making it such a sweet read. Absolutely full of all the feels, the story made me smile often while reading. There are some similarities to Cinderella, but the FMC is independent and makes her own fortune rather than relying entirely on the MMC to step in and save the day. While the book does deal with a lot of heavier themes and subject matters, Cataleya (the author) did a really good job blending just the right amount of humor to counterbalance the heaviness. The arrow incident is my favorite example of this!

I absolutely devoured this book—I couldn’t put it down. Maddie’s journey as a caregiver was emotional, raw, and so beautifully written. It hurt in all the right ways, and I found myself completely wrapped up in everything she was going through.
And Rigg… wow. What he said to Maddie in her moment of need? That hit deep. Like, pause-and-stare-at-the-wall-for-a-second kind of deep. It genuinely made me look at life a little differently, which I did not expect going in.
Fair warning: this is 100% a “grab your tissues” kind of read. It will make you cry—but don’t worry, it delivers a heartfelt, satisfying HEA that makes it all worth it.
Also, can we talk about Elsie?! I’m already obsessed and counting down the days until book two because I NEED more of her badass energy in my life.

And Rigg… wow. What he said to Maddie in her moment of need? That hit deep. Like, pause-and-stare-at-the-wall-for-a-second kind of deep. It genuinely made me look at life a little differently, which I did not expect going in.
Fair warning: this is 100% a “grab your tissues” kind of read. It will make you cry—but don’t worry, it delivers a heartfelt, satisfying HEA that makes it all worth it.
Also, can we talk about Elsie?! I’m already obsessed and counting down the days until book two because I NEED more of her badass energy in my life.

The two main characters in this story are destined to meet. The banter was terrific between the two main characters. I loved a book that makes me laugh out loud. The MMC was charming, good looking and had a wonderful career that he loved. The FMC was beautiful, very smart, caring and talented in her craft. It was definitely a slow burn to get to where we needed to be. Good things happened to both main characters. This book was easy to read read and digest. The pace was good and it wa well organized. A certain part brought me to tears. The two main characters were quite humorous. This was a light drama and a little angsty, but not too much. There were a few good surprises in this story. I liked the secondary characters as well. The spice was yummy. I would definitely recommend this book.

This was my first book by this author and I will definitely try some more. At the beginning I wasn’t a huge fan of Maddie mainly because I’m. A huge fan of strong independent women and I felt that she had some insecurities, but that was her story and her truth and the way this author painted the character is what makes this story. Riggs was amazing and a great book boyfriend addition. It was cute, it was fresh and such an easy enjoyable read. Sprinkle in a little spice and you have a great listen . Joanna Rosewood and Patrick Brown are new narrators to me but they did a fantastic job with this audio and really drew me in making it in a list of “let’s look for their other audios “ to listen to.

One of the best feelings is picking up an ALC and absolutely loving it. Narrated by Joanna Rosewood & Patrick Brawn, Out of the Wild was a book I didn't even realize I was devouring. It was one of those times where I put the book on while I worked through the day, while I did chores at night... and then suddenly, it was over. I loved getting 'lost' with this crew of people. The honesty with themselves and each other... the reality of not being the right time but having the feelings anyway?! We can all relate to an experience like that (or know someone who can). I'll be excited to listen to book 2 when it comes out as well!

February 16, 2026This was a great spin in terms of what I traditionally read in contemporary books. I loved the premise. Our two main characters have a great meet cute and it is easy to want to cheer them on. I can say Riggs is 100% book boyfriend material. However, Maddie had some flaws and I didn't love her as a character.
I really liked the world Cataleya created and am looking forward to reading what happens next. I agree with other readers I was slighlty disappointed with a certain side character relationship. Fingers crossed that will get circled back to in future books.
Overall, it was a sweet book, with a little bit of spice. Quick and fun read.

Out of the Wild is a beautiful story featuring Maddie and Riggs in the town of Sweetbriar Hollow. They have both had plenty of heartbreak and disappointment in their lives. Will meeting each other be the cure for what ails them? Can Riggs give up his adventuring for her?
The dual narration by Joanna Rosewood and Patrick Brawn was absolutely phenomenal. Their portrayal of these characters was perfect. I could feel all of their emotions through their voices. They brought this audiobook to life brilliantly.

Mentions of excessive alcohol consumption, DV, attempted coercion, pimping, chronic illness and death of a loved one… It’s not always an easy read, that’s for sure.
Oh my lord…. that opening chapter had me on the edge of my seat, and almost in tears. Poor Maddie.
On a getaway with friends, she comes across Riggs, a billionaire YouTuber, and they strike up an unexpected friendship…
This was a hard read at times, a little chaotic, and occasionally felt like bits were missed… This strangers-to-friends-to-more story was sweet, a little angsty, spicy and pretty enjoyable.

I really loved the concept of this one and really enjoyed the mutual yearning of the first half, however a Harry Potter reference pulled me out of the story and it kinda went downhill from there with a lot of (what felt like) unnecessary drama surrounding the long distance. I'm also not sure how I feel about Ash and Rhonda and the whole she doesn't want kids and he does situation when I was hoping they'd be book two, but that's an insurmountable lifestyle difference imo.
The audio was great though. Patrick Brawn and Joanna Rosewood did a wonderful job and I really enjoyed the listen. Thank you so much to High Gravity Productions for the advanced copy.

This was a fun, flirty romance between two people who seriously had no intentions of being in a relationship. One had their heart stomped on and one had a job that wasn’t compatible with having a significant other. The story was well written and enjoyable to read. The main characters were likable and well developed. We had a clear understanding of their recent past relationships to understand where their heads were in the story. The secondary characters were all fun and made you wonder if any of them will be the focus of a future book! Overall, great job on a cute, smexy romcom!

Meet Maddie and Riggs. She is doing everything to keep herself and her family afloat. He’s an adventurer who treks around the world with his brother. These two have a meet-cute and sparks just fly. Love how her character grows and still stays true to herself. Love how he takes chances again. The quirky small town with the great food and the interplay between characters keeps this story moving. All the feels in this one. Spice is 🌶️🌶️ and stars are 🌟🌟🌟🌟
