George spends her summers in Jackson, Wyoming working on a ranch by day and bartending at night. She works harder than most and has never allowed herself to dream. All of that changes when The Billings Boys invite her on stage with them. The voice she's kept secret now has an audience.

Born into a Boston Brahmin family, Caleb is hoping to drown out the noise in his head by melting into the crowded bar. He’s enchanted by George’s voice, but once they start talking, he falls further under her spell. Whiskey and jetlag might also be at play, but by the end of the night he works up the courage to invite her back to his vacation rental.

George says yes because wants to see how the other half lives in their mansions with fantastic water pressure. But once they’re alone, she starts to see a side of Caleb that is unexpected and will keep her coming back to him again and again, even though her head is screaming that their lives are too different.

Caleb has never had something this good, something worth fighting for. And while their chemistry is undeniable, it’s something more than that. It’s the kind of thing you’re lucky to find in your lifetime. But as George’s star rises and more people discover her undeniable charm, Caleb struggles to imagine there could be a place for him in her new life. He’s willing to fight for her, but will George choose to fight for him?

This book was like reading one of my favorite daydreams. At first glance, Golden Hour is about an overworked ranch hand with a golden voice that’s able to woo a Boston boy with a trust fund the size of Texas. The story is so much richer than that, and Blackburn has created characters that will linger long after you finish reading.

George is one of those unusual female protagonists that you both envy and want to be best friends with. She’s effortlessly beautiful, talented, and knows her way around the woods of Wyoming. She’s savvy enough to know she should keep away from the boys who vacation in Wyoming with their fancy families and prep school pals, but Caleb isn’t how he appears. This love story’s timeline will grip you, then demand you book yourself a trip to Wyoming.

You know the book is the ultimate vibe when you fall in love with both the characters and the scene that is set throughout their story. Blackburn’s love of Jackson Hole shines through on every page and makes me not only reminisce about my own trip there but also gets me itching to get back there as soon as possible. Witnessing the relationship between George and Caleb develop and seeing them work through their own individual insecurities and struggles is such a beautiful journey- and all with a mountain scape in the background? Sign me up! The writing is beautiful and George and Caleb are written in such a raw, human way that it’s hard to not cheer them on with every turn of the page. If you love diving into a book that makes you laugh, cry, and feel all the feels this is a must read!

The chemistry between these two characters jumps off the page, and their scenes together are written so well that you might find yourself blushing or pulling your collar over your face (not me though…)! It’s a story that will make you want to just drop whatever it is you’re doing in life and GO DO THAT THING YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO!

Ever dreamt of falling in love on vacation? That’s what happens to Caleb and George. She’s never been able to dream about life outside her small town, and thanks to his wealthy upbringing, he’s never had to dream about wanting anything - until her. Their chemistry is surprising and fun. Their story spans years, and you’ll be rooting for them to get to a happy ending. Also, as a person who loves Wyoming, this setting was so swoony. Can this be a movie next, please?
