★★★★★! Determined, book 1 of 3. Gallery assistant meets the quiet force that is David Keith!

“I turned to him. “How do I look?”
“Like you just had sex in a pantry.” His eyes gleamed, and the corners of his mouth turned up. He was obviously very pleased with himself.”

I recommend these novellas be read in order:
Part 1: Determined
Part 2: Determined: To Love
Part 3: Determined: To Win

Determined (part 1) opens up to recent college graduate and gallery assistant Samantha Sharp, Sam or Sammie doing the final touches on the evening’s art showing. Things are running smoothly until a mishap that puts her in front of the head of Keith Ventures, venture capitalist and playboy David Keith aka DK aka Chief.

She sparks his interest and the rest of story goes on to follow David Keith’s relentless seduction and pursuit of Samantha allowing for some off-the-charts sexual tension and more as these two almost set my Kindle on fire.

“Samantha, you interest me. I’d like to take you out. Why are you fighting me?”

 photo Det1 H BS v2 by sb_zpsr1zndapj.gif

David Keith aka DK aka Chief blew me away with his quite yet powerful presence. He’s relentless and suave in his seduction yet there is something understated about him. If he continues on same path he is likely to end up on my coveted top-10-hero shelf.

Eight words to describe David: Enigmatic, charming, determined, pragmatic, suave, possessive, controlled and reserved.

photo Det1 he BS by sb_zpsg8heffon.gif

Samantha Sharp, Sam or Sammie held her own against the larger-than-life David Keith. Seven words to describe Samantha: Spunky, candid, endearing, easy-going, honest, detailed and reflective.

Determined (part 1) is an addictive page-turner that gave me butterflies. Though part 1 in a serial I feel this 153-page story deserves nothing less than 5 stars. The story ends with a HFN, but clearly there is more to come. I cannot wait to read part 2, Determined: To Love for the continuation of their story.

Entertaining and addictive plot! Captivating and melt-my-panties hero! Scorching sex scenes! Excellent debut by Elizabeth Brown!

“This,” he gestured to the space between us, “in case you haven’t noticed, Samantha, is electric.”

Samantha Sharp recently graduated from Berkeley University and works part time at a small Art Gallery in San Francisco. At a recent gallery show, she runs into a handsome stranger and is immediately attracted to him. David Keith owns Keith Ventures, a highly successful venture capital company. This guy is a Billionaire and is considered San Francisco's most eligible bachelor. Sparks seem to fly the first night they meet.

As luck would have it, the two run into each other again at a party. During their second encounter there's discussion about whether or not they have any STDs and if Sammie is on birth control. I thought it was a tad bit too soon for the two to be talking about such topics, but soon after they're getting it on in her boss's pantry!! So I guess these things needed to be cleared up!! LOL

Sammie keeps getting warned by different people to not get attached to David because he's not known to have ever been monogamous. But David seems to be acting like he's totally gone for her. There's definitely some "Insta-Love" going on here. Don't get me wrong, I know it can happen, but I think it would have been much better if their affections for each other had developed at a slower pace.

There is plenty of steam between the two and for almost 80% of the story, there isn't any angst. I was in desperate need of some drama and the author finally delivered towards the end but it actually made me root for them to make it as a couple. I'm excited to see what's in store for the couple in the next two books!

*This is a combined review for all the books..But don't worry,NO SPOILERS*

Book 1:'Determined'- 3.5 stars (★★★ 1/2)
Book 2:'Determined:To Love'- 4 stars (★★★★)
Book 3:'Determined:To win'- 5 stars (★★★★★)

Average rating for all Three: 4.5 stars (★★★★1/2)

Book 1: Book one is actually '50 shades', well 50 shades of grey if Christian hadn't had a prostitute for a mother and had never met Mrs.Robinson, that is.
Character wise, this book had almost everybody from the FSoG series...The loyal bodyguard, the motherly housekeeper, the heroine's crazy best friend, the hero's nosey sister & the hero's wealthy ADOPTIVE parents.(Yes,like Christian David is adopted too..You see where I'm going with this ?)

David is dominant but NOT overly dominant, like Christian but Samantha was a lot like Anna in so many ways..

With that being said,Please note ! Determined is defiantly a light and more of a quick read than anything..This book doesn't contain any BDSM or major kink...

I didn't LOVE book one,but I was interested enough to continue the series..Which worked out great for me :)

i regret nothing [jeff winger[ photo iregretnothing_jeffwinger.gif

Book two: Book two again was an easy read, nothing major happens in this part unless you count the ending..Initially when I started out with this book I wasn't as invested in the characters as I was towards the end.

I enjoyed David & Samantha's chemistry in book two more than one.Determined:To Love really sizziled with their chemestry in a way it didn't initially..Overall It was an enjoyable sequel.

Now,Book 3 ?

That's where the ACTUAL Drama stars...Out of all the books I think I can confidently say that I liked booked 3 the best, even though I saw a lot of things coming a mile away....Well everything EXCEPT for one MAJOR twist in the end...

NO,seriously I did not see that coming !

Would I recommend the read ?
Yes,I probably would if your in a mood a sexy billionaire read with NO KINK.

Any Warnings ?
Yes !!

If INSTA-LOVE is NOT your thing...Please skip lovelies ! The whole foundation of this series is based on that one huge detail..You have been warned ! ;)

I have to be honest, I was almost quick to dismiss this book. I’ve read a number of books with the same story line before, handsome billionaire meets beautiful young woman, yadda yadda, but I was still curious to see how this story will turn out. Before jumping into this series, I first read The Lessons which I had thoroughly enjoyed so I proceeded to read Determined.

Samantha Sharp was a beautiful woman, down to earth and hardworking. It was no surprise that she caught a certain devastatingly handsome man’s eye. His name was David Keith and he has no qualms being aggressive in pursuing her. He was not in her plans, but her attraction to him was impossible to dismiss or ignore and when they meet again the next night, she surrendered herself to him.

And so it began.

My first impression of Samantha was that she was nothing overtly special, except for her looks. I couldn’t find anything particular about why David would be so attracted to her. But as I continued to read on, I was wrong. We get to know more about her throughout the book as her and David’s relationship progressed.

But overall, while the book was a pleasant read, there was nothing in it that had evoked emotions from me. Not enough twists and turns but it did hold my interest.

Life: make a plan, set some goals and attain them, right? How was Samantha to know that her life train would be completely derailed by one sexy, successful and filthy rich walking sex-on-a-stick man, David Keith. How could one man overwhelm her senses so completely and blur her self-imposed focus so easily? How could one woman, unlike anyone he has known, knocked the wind out of his alpha sails?

Determined by Elizabeth Brown is sensual, earthy and hot enough to send lava into a meltdown! Samantha is a woman who enjoys her life, shares her time and her confident attitude about life shows, but a chance meeting with uber-alpha David begins a dangerous dance around the flames of love and trust, while straddling a line of over protectiveness, possession and obsession. Will past turmoil and pain choke their relationship? Will the sins of another interfere with what they could have? Can Samantha withstand the tsunami of David’s feelings? Insecurity knows no financial status.

Elizabeth Brown wastes no time in developing her characters and making sure they are night and day opposites in so many ways as she allows Samantha to tell this tale from her point of view. It was easy to feel what went through Samantha’s head and heart a she feel deeper in lust and then love with David. Ms. Brown isn’t afraid to make David a little over -the-top in his controlling ways, sometimes making him a little less than likable, because she made sure his best sides came through, also. Kind of like reality on steroids! She knows how to write steamy scenes with an earthy manner about them that gives a raw and sensual feel while never neglecting a plot that is sure to keep her readers glued to each page. Talk about two worlds colliding in an inferno of blazing glory!

*Received this through the group Some Like it Hot and author Elizabeth Brown in exchange for an honest review.*

...I could feel his soul pulling me a city away.

Samantha Sharp knew it was a bad idea to wear a white dress where red wine was involved. That's exactly what she did at the show that was held at the art gallery where she works when she unexpectedly meets the man who will change her life.

David Keith is a very successful businessman, who is used to being in control. So when his sister has an accident involving a woman at the art gallery, he jumps right in to help. He even offers to take her home, which she accepts because she suddenly feels lightheaded.

The next night, she runs into him again at a party hosted by her boss. Sam has an unbelievable attraction to him. It was lust at first sight and seeing him again just kicked it up a notch. After a brief conversation, he takes her outside. He asks her to leave with him. She tells him she came to the party with her best friend Carrie and she doesn't want to leave her alone. He grabs her hand and leads into the house, into a dark room and has his way with her.

That is just the beginning of the story...it gets even better. I was heading to bed when I decided to read "just a bit" of this book to kind of get a feel for it. I ended up reading 7 chapters and I had to literally make myself put this book down and go to sleep. It had me under it's spell.

To me, it seemed like David Keith was a mixture of Christian Grey from Fifty Shades of Grey and Ethan Frost from Ruined, which was a good thing because I loved those books. I know that your thinking "oh great, another billionaire story" and you would be right. However, the way Elizabeth Brown wrote this book, and the pull the characters have toward each other, will leave you wanting more.

One thing I really enjoyed about this book was how Sam didn't really complain about David buying and doing stuff for her. I understand the whole I am woman, hear me roar, but if someone wanted to buy me shoes and clothes and take me to the symphony and let me ride in their jet, well, you wouldn't see me turning that down.

I recommend this book if you are a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey, Ruined, or If I Were You.

" Determined", that is Samantha Sharp, college graduate , working part time at Curtis Galleries which still allows her time to volunteer at a children's center. Samantha is determined to grow in the gallery business and is excited to to be presenting the first artist she has discovered for the gallery ths evening .
Samantha's. Find s doing well and she is in the recess of Networking with another a gallery owner Evan Carmichael when she is bumped into and red wine is spilt all over her white dress, the young lady Jenna who has spilled s mortified and asks her date David, if they can do anything for her, but a the first connection of their eyes the the attraction between the two is high voltage and Samantha is tongue tied and flustered, before she knows it she is being driven home by this incredibly hot looking man and his date ; David being the consummate gentlemen even walks her to her door and Samantha's body wants to invite him in , to not let go , but her brain kicks in and reminds her he has a date waiting in his car for him.
The very next day Samantha receives a special delivery of two boxes to her door , one containing a brand new dress from Bannana Republic in her size exactly matching the one ruined last night, the second bx contains beautiful roses Ina gorgeous cut crystal vase , both from David, of course the day just gets stranger because when she gets to work Curtis is all over her wanting to know what happened with the David Keith and surprised that Samantha did not know he was Billionare and playboy.
Samantha , is just moving along with her day and plans to attend Curtis party that night with her BFF Clarissa , but once their is suprised to see Jenna and David walks in the door, unaware they we invited , but David makes a be line for her and to out it simply Samatha's life and life plan are about to take a sudden hot change! Yes. Said hot because before you know it these two are in a pantry closet at her bosses house having some down and dirty sex ! Waking in David's bed the next morning , and this man wants to see more of her!
This s a world wind romance and David does not take no for an answer , and before you know it these two are meeting each others families , but David has his insecurities , he is an orphan and carries some baggage , which as you read will see the effect in the relationship . His insecurities come center stage near the end while Samantha s in Miami. Attending an art exhibition trying to network, build contacts and artist connections .

Samantha and David suck you in and you have a hard time putting down the book and though by the end of this book you think "wow" we are getting an HEA already , given the few incidents that occur in ths book you just know the road ahead is going to be rocky and Samantha and David are going to have to do some climbing ! Though the urge is strong to compare the book to " Fifty Shades" , I can not , their may be similarities but these two have their own story to tell I just know it, and believe you will too!

David Keith is a young billionaire. Sam works at an art gallery. One night while she is working, a woman spills red wine on her dress. Sam first being concerned about her dress, but what catches her eye more is the man that the woman is with. That man turns out to be the billionaire, David Keith. From there their story begins.

I was excited to read this one because these types of stories are my favorite. However, I had a hard time understanding the connection between these two characters. There was very little suspense as to how the two main characters felt about each other. Things moved quickly. So quickly it did not give me any time to connect. There was no refusal of anything from the heroine. I like heroes to know what they want and take it, but there was no intensity. I felt like David was trying to be a bit of alpha, but he isn’t. There is very little angst and the angst that there was in the story was resolved very quickly.
The daily routine of the heroine could have been eliminated. I felt like I was told everything that Sam thought and did. In some ways, it showed her immaturity. That is why it hard for me to see why David would even be interested in her. Why he wanted her verses any other woman he could have. I want to see the uniqueness in the heroine. I want to adore her so that when the hero expresses his love for her, I understand.
This book did not end in a cliffy, but there is a part 2 – a continuation of Sam and David’s story. I hope book two has more.

ARC received for honest review from the lovely Elizabeth Brown.

In reflection, hmmm who wouldn't want a sexy Billionaire like David Keith. Hot CEO master of his own universe, can have anything and everything he wants and he falls hard for a girl who works in a gallery, nothing wrong with that but Sam seems to take it all in her stride I would of been giddy as a kipper. lol

Samantha works in a gallery and with David it was an instant attraction leading to hot and even hotter sexual encounters.

I did feel she was too easy, nothing much to her character and would of liked more of a chase and a bit of angst.

Throughout this book you get a good feel for Samantha's everyday life drawing you into the story written in Samantha's pov you get a glimpse of her life and her feelings for David, her life at the gallery, her upbringing with her parents and her personality in general, she seems very easy going and laid back.

Its a good start a beginning of a trilogy, it feels like a warm up, a foundation allowing you to get a feel for the characters and the plot to come.

I think this is only the tip of the iceberg as there has to be more to David Keith.

The fact that Samantha has been warned by every female to be careful is that jealousy or do they know something she doesn't?

Theres more to this than new boyfriend who buys her clothes has hot sex and has a protective streak, yep theres more lurking and I intend to find out hopefully there will be angst to get me turning the pages with anticipation.

This book is right up my alley, sexy powerful possessive jealous billionaire CEO books I confess are my favorite. The heroine in this one I wish was a bit more independent - she's a bit of a pushover, only works part-time, volunteers one day a week, and acquiesces a bit too quickly for my liking. The two meet at a social gathering, have insta-chemistry, get it on in a pantry, and the rest is history, lol. She easily adapts to staying at his house, meets his parents, he spends holidays with hers, and the only suspense is some mild third party gallery owner coming on a bit strong and some exes of David's with grudges. I think my biggest dislike is they fall too easily into a relationship when in actuality neither has had one in a really long time, one would think there would need to be time to develop trust in order for them to fall into such an easy pattern. And I feel like we don't know either of them all that well, outside of their family situation, there's not much disclosed and little to no heart to heart intimacy moments.

I haven't completely bought into this couple or the story, has the makings of a memorable tale, but nothing all that memorable yet to have it be unforgettable for me. AND at this point, book 1 ended with a HEA, so question the need for a trilogy as all too often only a handful of authors really make a valid case for stretching across 3. In my mind, each installment should have enough suspense, chemistry, etc. on its own but when all are combined they really build into something greater.

DNF @ 68%.

I couldn't finish this book bc it was sooo boring. Nothing happens in this story. The H meets the h and then they start a relationship. There is no conflict. Everyone is happy and gets along great. I stopped reading when the H meets the h's family and everyone is laughing and like each other immediately. On the h's first date with the H, he sends her really expensive clothes and accessories. And this donkey just accepts it! Thats not normal! Then the h meets a woman that warns her about the H and she doesn't react. In fact, she continues the date and sleeps with him. Oh, lets not forget the kind elderly couple that the h rents her cottage from. They invite her over all the time for dinner. This story had nothing.

Well for me this book is 3 stars,i expect more from the blurb but was not deliver good. You have insta-love and that ok,i can pass that but i can't past that the hero is proclaimed manwhore and he fell in love after 1 day spend with the heroine.I did not see him as alpha, for my taste he was too sweet, something was missing from his character to be truly alpha man.Heroine is likeable, the story is mostly boring, nothing happen, they meet each other, they fell in love in 1 day and then everything only repeat. It sure needed drama,i skip few pages because i find myself bored.

☆☆☆☆ for this one.

Now I love a good billionaire story, but one was a pleasant surprise in the main character Samantha Sharp.. She is smart, well educated and had a great personality that really shines throughout this book.

Sam Sharp is a gallery girl working with Curtis Kinsler. after finishing college. She has inturned for Kinsler Gallery while finishing studying and now works part time there and at a children's home. She has just finished setting up for an show for an artist Sam discovered. She is scared and exited all at once, everything is going well until some bimbo drops red wine all over her white dress, as things go from bad to worse she ends up having a panic attack in front of the most gorgeous man she had ever seen.

David Keith is owner and CEO of Keith Ventures, and is taken from the moment he sets his eyes on Sam, and right or wrong he wants her. and have her he will. He offers to take Sam home and she accepts but is slightly put off with the over excited female in the back, David's girlfriend... Or so it seems.

The chemistry is super strong between David and Samantha all the way through this story and when the 2 actually get together it skyrockets... phew it gets very hot...

As feelings become stronger and stronger, the whole meet the family passes it is clear they both love each other. I waited for the BOOM , the side story that would ruin their relationship, and I guess it came but not as I would have thought.

With David's womanizing past and the many women who either throw daggers at her, or continue to warn her to stay away, Sam chooses to ignore them, she knows the real David, that is until she really needs him and he leaves. He seriously left!!!!

So in ending can I just say no man can make a full name sound so sexy as 'Samantha', I loved when he called her that instead of the Sam she is to all of her friends This is a great story, and up there with my favs.

But this story, like all of these he’s-insanely-rich, she’s-really-smart-and-witty stories, is a fantasy. He happens to figure out her dress size and sends her a gown that she wears on their first date to the symphony. They fly in his private jet to have Thanksgiving with her family in Tahoe. I know it’s devastating to hear, but the odds are this will not be happening to you in your lifetime. But what Determined does (like, say, Abigail Barnette’s The Boss series or any of Christina Lauren’s novels) is make this feel possible, like maybe it could happen. Because even as it takes place against this luxurious backdrop, they are well sketched out, fully-rounded characters. This is one of the things to dislike about Fifty Shades of Grey (among the many): it’s hard to believe any of it could happen, that those two people are attracted to one another, that she puts up with him, etc. I didn’t get any of that in Determined. In fact, I found David and Samantha’s chemistry appealing, I liked their banter, their choices basically made sense, and while there was some pathologizing about the emotional baggage he carries around, it wasn’t overwhelming. Also, the sex is hot. Incredibly so.

I read this book in a matter of hours.

The entire plot happens in the span of ONE WEEK. I found the character development severely lacking. The sex scenes were limited and not very hot. Yes, we did find out a handful of personality traits about the hero, but it was limited and there was just no draw for me. There's a small part of me that is curious about what will happen in the next book, but the quality of the overall plot was mediocre for my taste. There was also no conflict in the story, except towards the very end and that was tied up with a very neat bow within a chapter. I always hate to leave a negative review, but this book was just missing something for me.

I first of all thank you Elizabeth for the Arc. I enjoyed reading this book and the other 2 in the series. I loved the connection between the two main characters and their chemistry was undeniable they literary couldn't keep their hand off each other. Samantha was a woman who knew her self even though she wasn't sure bout her future in the art world she seemed head strong and I love that in a character. David completed her , I love my billionaire book boyfriends and David was definitely added on my list. I cant wait to read more of your work.

While the billionaire meets poor girl who works or is in college is quite overdone lately, Elizabeth Brown crafted two really interesting and compelling characters who suck you right into their lives and story.

Samantha is working part time at an art gallery when she unexpected meets David Keith, wealthy billionaire. Over the story Determined, we are thrust into a tailspin love story with a few twists and turns. Easy to read and get invested!

This was a quick, easy and enjoyable read. Samantha Sharp is a recent grad who is working in an art gallery. She meets billionaire venture capitalist David Keith at a show at her gallery and they hit it off. All the needed elements are included - hot sex, a billionaire with past hurts, an attempted assault by another guy, a big misunderstanding, etc., etc. So, the book was enjoyable although not particularly memorable.

I liked this read.

For some reason I was expecting a lot more alpha presence from David. Seemed a little like FSOG at times without the BDSM. Maybe if I would have had some of David's POV I would have found the last bit of a connection that would have pushed this to a five star read for me.
