7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! Short Story Collection

Dive into this delightful collection of short stories featuring Rishe and other favorites from 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! And don’t forget to check out the light novel and manga (available from Seven Seas) and the hit anime.

This handpicked selection showcases dozens of delightful tales, including tender moments between Arnold and Rishe not depicted in the main story and glimpses of characters who aren’t often in the limelight. See what Oliver, Arnold’s stalwart attendant, gets up to during his time off—and what his relationship is like with his lord’s little brother. Peer into a world where Arnold and Rishe are nothing more than students at the same academy. A few tales even feature Rishe’s past lives from the perspectives of those she was close to.

In the longest story, written specifically for this collection, Rishe and Arnold go undercover…as a married couple! Will our heroine be able to keep her cool around her “beloved husband” long enough to avoid suspicion? Either way, it’s bound to be amusing watching her try!

A nice way to keep the story going while we wait for Amekawa to focus on the rest of the light novels rather than drifting off into other new series...

This is a collection of short stories that were originally posted online or as bonuses. My favorite part is probably the section at the end where Amekawa gives a brief intro to each story. I really like the behind the scenes glimpses, and also how many of these are focused more on little domestic moments between Arnold and Rishe. It gives their relationship more depth and shows the slow progression of them genuinely being attached to each other.

My least favorite thing about the series - and Amekawa's writing in general - is how oblivious Rishe is about romance. If you count up all her lives, she's 45 now and has a huge amount of experience traveling the world and meeting all sorts of people. According to the author notes, there are also at least three men from her past lives who've been in love with her, although she wasn't aware of (any of?) them. That's Raul, Joel, and Zahad whom we haven't met yet.

So yeah, she hasn't been in a relationship - too focused on pursuing her career paths and her dreams and trying to not die within five years - but it's wildly silly to have her consistently portrayed as shocked by the idea of her fiance being physically attracted to her, or freaking out any time their hands touch. If their marriage is a month away, what exactly are they going to do? Still be super awkward about sleeping in the same bed, for decades?

Shyness is one thing but stupidity is another, and that part does bug me.

Otherwise I really enjoy this series, and this collection is a nice addition. One of the best stories was from her first life, before she had any idea she'd start time-looping, and was just learning how to be a merchant and live on her own - not as a nobleman's daughter and royal fiancee anymore, but as herself, being whoever she wanted to be. With the focus obviously being on her 7th life and her time with Arnold, you forget sometimes how much she went through prior to that, and how deeply important Tully's support was after her family abandoned her the first time.

My other favorite part of this collection was, to my surprise, everything to do with Oliver. I liked him well enough in the main series, but he's so fascinating when you see more of him outside of Rishe's point of view. She really only sees him as Arnold's loyal right-hand man, which is true - and something that makes Arnold's adoring little brother furious - but he has so much depth to him. He's also kind of a scoundrel, especially when he comes to women, which is funny and shows that Amekawa does know how to write characters who don't blush furiously at the sight of a little ankle.

I particularly liked the story with Kamil and Oliver, although I do think Amekawa must be oblivious about the fans she's flaming when she has male characters wax poetic over other men's good looks. That's a fun pairing I had not previously considered but will now.

There isn't too much in this collection that you need in terms of following the overall plot, but it's definitely a must-have for a fan, since it adds a lot of little character moments that I find equally important. I do wonder at some of the little hints that got thrown in, like Oliver commenting that it almost seems like Arnold knows the future. I hope there isn't some eventual twist where Arnold has any special powers like Rishe's, since for me that would ruin a lot of their dynamic. But it was probably just a passing comment and not a hint.

Those final words he said to Rishe before killing her in her 6th life keep coming up, though, and do make me wonder. Why can she remember everything else about her past lives but not that?

Overall the stories where cute but repetitive. There was a lot of back to back rishe being awkward and in love while prince arnoald touched her hair. it felt a lot more in your face then a lone scene throughout the plot of the book making the fact they are both in love with each other a lot more obvious. I did like the stories that talked about her past lives or interactions with other characters. I also liked the stories that centered on other characters perspectives.

I do enjoy the main story-line of this series, despite it being YA, and I'm not YA. There's enough other plot going on that it's very enjoyable.

That said, this is exactly what it says it is -- a collection of short stories. Best I can tell, there's no plot though them, and for the most part, they just put more YA into the story.

If that's your thing, I'm sure you will love it. It's just not my thing. Enjoy
