Hmmmmmmmm this book is well.... I cant find the words. It pretends to be dark but it is really just morbid. The people in the book are mean not sick. They do not need to be figured out of even pittied. They are just mean as hell!! And the plot is "campy".... however, in spite of himself, Williams wrote some fine prose in these pages. Tenneesse Williams impersonation ! On a second book by him now.... THE HEART OF A DISTANT FOREST.... with FINAL HEAt, get the feeling he wanted to sell it to SUNDANCE for some wierd movie screenplay.
