York, August 1275: When a priest is found stabbed to death in his churchyard, Cordwainer investigates the killing, hindered by the actions of three sisters in the parish who seem intent on robbing both priest and church of all they can find. But are the sisters guilty of murder as well as theft? Or must Cordwainer look further to find the killer?
Historical, medieval coroner story. This is the 19th book in the Mathew Cordwainer series. It is my favourite series of all time. I’ve read the entire series through twice, ( except for this newest release)
Mathew is as difficult, cranky and arrogant as ever, but he is a wonderful character, along with all the characters i look forward to reading about. This book has no Thomas or Adam, but most of the other characters play a part.
There is nothing more relaxing than snuggling up with a Cordwainer mystery and Lionaron's latest is no different. The mystery is interesting and unfolds naturally, the historical setting is richly depicted, and as always Cordwainer's complaints are endearing. I will read these over and over.
I always look forward to the next story from Ms Llionarons. Her mystery’s are always well constructed and have interesting twists. Have enjoyed growing older with MasterCordwainer
Always enjoy Matthew Cordwainer however this story was not as expansive as others of the series. It had most of the characters but nit as much introspection. There was no explanation as to a lot of why's. The story was good but the explanations were lacking somehow.
