Breaking Ties: Part One

Rate this book
Some secrets refuse to stay buried.

Kevin Randall has been erased from existence.

For over a year, he's survived in isolation—a frozen cabin in the wilderness, no heat, no contact with the outside world. Just endless waiting. When the call finally comes, his orders are brutally track down a man who betrayed the cartel and make him disappear. Do the job, and Randall gets his life back. Fail, and the people he loves pay the price.

The hunt leads him deep into Mexico's underworld, aided by Michaela—a beautiful, dangerous woman with her own connection to the cartels. As Randall closes in on his target, he discovers that some betrayals run deeper than blood, and some choices can never be undone.

Meanwhile, in Buffalo, New York, Harry Belinski is living the life he always dreamed of. Saturday afternoon baseball games with his son. Dance recitals with his daughter. A wife who loves him. He's built something good, something clean—a world away from the man he used to be.

Then a stranger slides an envelope across a café table.

Inside are photographs. Dozens of them. His children. His wife. All taken without their knowledge. The message is We know where they are. We know everything.

Harry thought he'd left his past behind. He was wrong. Now he's being forced back into a darkness he swore he'd never return to—and the price of refusal is unthinkable.

Two men on opposite sides of an impossible situation. Two families hanging in the balance. And a truth that will destroy everything.

Breaking Part One is a heart-pounding thriller about fathers and sons, the weight of our choices, and how far we'll go to protect the people we love. From the desolate wilderness to the quiet suburbs of Western New York, this story builds to a revelation that changes everything.

New author! I just finished Book 1 and I can’t wait for Book 2 to come out! The characters are painted so clearly you know them from page one and by the end - you can’t wait to know the rest of the story!!! Highly highly highly recommend. I read about 80 books a year and this is my first review - it is simply that good! No, it’s that GREAT!!!!!!

Full disclosure: I don’t typically read this genre, but I do love a thriller TV series so I figured I’d give it a try. WOW I’m glad I did! Plath’s writing is cinematic and felt like I was reading the newest season of Ozark or Task (two of my faves). Breaking Ties starts off at a sprint and doesn’t let up. It was a total page-turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat. My only complaint is that I wasn’t able to read it in one sitting (#parentingproblems).

This would be a great read for fans of books by authors like Lee Child, Gregg Hurwitz, and Harlan Coben, or people like me who enjoy watching shows with the energy of Ozark, Task, and Breaking Bad. I can’t wait for the sequel!
