Her sun sign isn't a personality type. It's a weapon.
Piper DiMezzio didn't plan to start over. But when her boyfriend gets stabbed in front of her—and the men he owed money to set their sights on her—she doesn't have a choice.
Trey Wilder can't explain why he's still thinking about a woman he barely knows. He also can't explain why they can hear each other's thoughts. He's been telling himself it's nothing. Until she saves his life.
What's happening to them isn't random, and it isn't new. Beneath the surface of ordinary life runs a hidden world built on astrology, divided between those who found power through desire and those who took it through blood.
Secret Houses. Zodiac-born gifts. They've all been watching. Now both sides are making their move.
Thrust into an ancient conflict neither of them chose, Piper and Trey have to navigate shifting allegiances, dangerous powers they don't understand, and a magnetic connection they can't ignore. In a world where your sun sign is destiny and trust can be fatal, they may be each other's only solace—or their greatest liability.
Gemini Gemini is the first book in The Eighth House, a zodiac-driven paranormal romance series. For fans of the Hidden Legacy series, A Touch of Darkness, and Crescent City.
E.C. Jameson writes immersive, emotionally-charged fantasy rooted in astrology, supernatural intrigue, and dangerous romance. His debut novel Gemini Gemini blends urban fantasy, slow-burn tension, and dual-POV character drama in a high-stakes battle between hidden powers.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Eric holds a B.S. in Economics and an M.S. in Entrepreneurship from the University of Florida. Before turning to fiction, he served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy, with deployments across Europe, North Africa, and the Mediterranean. He now lives in Jacksonville with his wife, their two children, and three dogs that behave like minor deities.
Under a pseudonym, he self-published two earlier works, but Gemini Gemini is the first novel he’s proud to release under his own name. His writing is shaped by mythology, astrology, and suspense—but always centers on character transformation and emotional impact.

I listened to the audio version of this book. I was surprised how good this one was. It does have a slow start, but once it gets going, IT GETS GOING!
We have two characters who meet on a trip with lots of other people. The trip is for a sports team and our MFC is there because her BF sells drugs. Our MMC is there because he's on the team. After a few drinks and some drugs, both characters can't seem to remember that night and wake up from their own point of view.
Our MFC's BF gets got from owing too much money to the wrong people and our MMC doesn't know why but he chooses to help her with the situation. Soon they realize they share paranormal traits and discover they can communicate telepathically. After the initial shock of this realization wears, they team up and cause all sorts of chaos with their new powers. This unfortunately draws the attention of a secret society they didn't even know existed.
It became a thrilling, dark romance with high stakes and believable, modern, human natured struggles. That ending was pretty crazy too. I don't know if this book will get a sequel but I sure hope it does.
I received an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
I seriously couldn’t put this book down! There’s a perfect balance of plot and romance, I really enjoyed the honesty in the writing of the romance scenes. The author included the funny little fumbles and embarrassing moments that can happen during *romantic scenes*. I think it really added to the overall vibe of this being an URBAN fantasy. The unique magic system rooted in astrology was so interesting! As someone who enjoys astrology, I appreciate the research done to understand the different signs and what “abilities they might have. I can’t recommend this dark fantasy enough! And I already preordered book 2!
What if instead of your horoscope sign determining your personality, it defined your powers? The author takes the broad topic of astrology and makes it palatable for readers in such a creative way that I found myself able to follow along without getting lost in the plot.
One thing I love is that Piper is a strong FMC, and meeting Trey doesn't soften her but makes her stronger, mentally and physically. Both Piper and Trey are successful people separately, thrown into a hidden society of the supernatural that they have to navigate together. Their relationship is tender yet exciting, and you will not be deprived of spice in this book! The second half of the book definitely picks up on the pace and the ending will leave you with your jaw dropped.
If there was anything I had to pick bones about, it would be I found myself wishing there was a little less internal dialogue from the characters. As readers, we often know that the characters are falling in love before they do, meaning we don't need the characters telling us.
As someone who typically doesn't reach for urban fantasy, I found myself enjoying Gemini Gemini so much more than expected. If you're looking to dive more into fantasy without being overwhelmed, I would definitely recommend this book! I can't wait until the next installment!
Note: I was given an advanced reader copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book as an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book gave me a whole lot while also not giving me nothing at all.
I was not a fan of the tense it was written in. The spicy scenes were kind of realistic in terms of describing clumsy moments during intercourse but I do not know of many readers who want to read about that, versus their normal escapism. A lot of the language used during these scenes too just felt too casual versus how many popular authors write their spicy scenes. Using a phrase like “bricked up” isn’t as commonly known as the author may assume.
There are also many physical descriptions of women, but not a lot about men. This gives the book a slight misogynistic edge considering the author (who is male) writes from a male and female perspective.
The dialogue is juvenile, at best and I did not feel like I was reading characters who were in their late 20s. I didn’t feel much emotional attachment to any of these characters either.
The author does plan to make this a series and I find that very ambitious but definitely hope the author’s writing grows and matures as he continues to tell this story through multiple books. Unfortunately, this just was not for me and there is a lot of work to do.
Divergent and Zodiac have collided and Gemini Gemini is the product of the collision. Piper and Trey are drawn to each other like magnets catapulting them on an obstacle course of self discovery and navigating a world they thought they knew only to find out there is more there than meets the eye. I need book 2 ASAP!
This book is very engaging and well-written. Since I started, I haven't been able to put it down. It hooked me from the beginning. Don't miss out on this exciting new series!
I didn’t love this book. I really wanted to. It was such a great story and the male lead had a lot of interesting depth. I couldn’t get past the jarring perspective and timeline jumps. The female lead was flat cold and uninteresting. Their first sexual encounter wasn’t even in the book except a slight description as a memory then when they actually get together the author just skips over it as if we are supposed to just know it happened. I even double checked my kindle download do be sure I wasn’t missing a chapter or something it was that weird. So annoying. All the sex scenes were just off clumsy and lacking intimacy. They have a telepathic connection and they don’t even use it during sex or even explore it much at all. Even with all that there was enough there to keep me hopeful it would get better but it never did. The last chapter was the worst. It was rushed and out of character for both leads. The disappointing cliffhanger was just the rotten cherry on top. Nothing was explained and I was left with flat characters that I didn’t even care about.

I’d give this about 2.5 stars rounded up. I think this book has good bones and a lot of potential. (Spoilers ahead but not really that relevant to the storyline)
A friend of the author gave it to me because I’m a big fantasy reader, and I was excited to dive in. Early on, I struggled a bit because there wasn’t a lot of strong character development. Many of the side characters felt more distracting than supportive of the main storyline, and moments that seemed like they should carry emotional weight—like the random murders or the dead boyfriend—didn’t really linger long enough for the reader to process them. The lack of guilt or reflection from the main characters made it harder for me to understand who they really were and felt a little unrealistic for people who aren’t sociopaths.
Because of that, I also never fully formed an attachment to any of the characters, which is unusual for me with fantasy. I think spending more time developing the characters and their relationships would really strengthen the story. Along similar lines, passion and chemistry are often a big part of fantasy romances, and the intimate scenes here fell a little flat for me.
That said, as the book progressed, I did start to see more of Piper’s personality come through. She begins to grow into the kind of strong, badass female lead that fantasy readers love. She may not be fully there yet, but you can see the trajectory.
I also appreciated the astrology element—it felt different from many fantasy systems and made the story less predictable. While the plot isn’t fully clear yet, that unpredictability did keep things interesting.
The ending was strong enough that I’d probably pick up book two to see where the story goes. Overall, it’s an easy read, and for a debut there’s definitely promise here. With deeper character development and a bit more emotional grounding, future books could shine.
Gemini Gemini was one of those books that surprised me in the best way. I went in expecting a paranormal romance, but what I found was a creative blend of astrology, mystery, danger, and supernatural intrigue that kept me completely engaged from start to finish.
I actually listened to the audiobook, and the narration elevated the experience even more. Maeve York and Walker Williams were fantastic. It's always a treat when an audiobook uses dual narrators, one for the female perspective and one for the male, and these two did a wonderful job bringing Piper and Trey to life. Their performances added emotion, personality, and great chemistry to an already compelling story.
Piper is a strong and relatable heroine whose life is turned upside down after witnessing a brutal attack that leaves her on the run. Trey is equally compelling, and the connection between them immediately stands out. The telepathic bond they share could have felt gimmicky, but instead it adds tension, humor, and emotional depth to their relationship.
What really impressed me was the world-building. The idea of zodiac signs influencing powers and shaping secret societies is fresh and imaginative. The hidden Houses, political maneuvering, and ancient rivalries create a rich backdrop that feels much larger than the story unfolding in this first book. I especially enjoyed discovering how the astrological elements fit into the plot without feeling overwhelming.
The romance is a slow burn with plenty of chemistry, but it never overshadows the action and suspense. There are twists, dangerous alliances, and enough unanswered questions to keep me invested in what comes next. With that said it leaves you with a cliffhanger.
If you enjoy paranormal romance with unique mythology, strong characters, excellent narration, and a healthy mix of romance and supernatural conflict, Gemini Gemini is a promising start to what looks like an exciting series. I'll definitely be picking up the next book.
Thank you to StoryOrigin and the author for providing this ALC.
I went into Gemini Gemini expecting a dark romance and got completely pulled into the story. The first two-thirds were especially strong, with enough mystery, tension, and chemistry to keep me glued to my headphones. I was hooked by the end of Chapter 1, and from there I needed to know where this was going. The relationship dynamic worked for me, the stakes felt high, and I found myself fully invested in what happened next.
The chemistry between these characters was intense. This definitely leans into morally gray territory, with strong touch-her-and-die energy, heavy themes, and characters who make questionable decisions in the name of love. There were several moments that hit surprisingly hard emotionally, and I found myself right there with them as everything unfolded. The romance was dark, messy, and compelling in a way that made it difficult to stop listening.
The final third wasn’t quite as strong as the beginning for me, and I had a few timeline questions that never fully clicked into place. There were moments where the passage of time felt inconsistent, and some of the logistics surrounding the investigation raised an eyebrow. That said, none of that prepared me for the ending. I immediately replayed it because I genuinely thought I had missed something. Nope. That was the ending. Whether you love it or hate it, it’s the kind of finale that sticks with you long after the book is over.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Who should read/listen: Readers who enjoy dark romance, morally gray characters, high chemistry, touch-her-and-die vibes, emotional intensity, and stories that leave you staring at a wall after the final chapter.
My review is written after listening to the audio version of this compelling and different story
Gemini is the first book in The Eighth House series. It's by an author who is new to me, but one I will follow from now on. This first book features a compelling, very different plot that blends urban fantasy, zodiac-infused magic, and romance. The story is full of tension and intrigue, where I found myself wondering who the bad guys are and who the good guys are.
I enjoyed this unusual take on how your star sign can imbue magic and abilities, a source of dangerous power which could, in the wrong hands, bring destruction. The story is told through the dual POVs of the main characters, allowing the listener to understand their initial confusion and see them grow as they come to grips with their new abilities. The characters are well-drawn, and we were able to appreciate both Piper’s vulnerability and strength and Trey’s protectiveness.
The author's writing style is easy to follow, and he delivers a solid plot that balances shifting allegiances, high-stakes suspense, and betrayal as well as a growing romance. I enjoyed the unique astrology-based magic system, in which if you are star-touched, your sun sign is a literal weapon rather than a horoscope cliché, which kept the plot moving and surprisingly unpredictable.
The story ended with a very surprising twist that I don't think anyone will see coming, and left me eagerly awaiting the second book to see how everything evolves. The narration was excellent; Maeve York and Walker Williams brought every aspect of this unusual and dramatic story to life beautifully.
I don’t typically reach for fantasy novels, but I am so glad I made an exception for this one. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I was sucked into the world E.C. Jameson has created. It was a true page-turner; I found it nearly impossible to put down and ended up racing through the entire story in just two days.
One of the highlights of this book is the narrative structure. It is told from the perspectives of both main characters, which added a wonderful layer of depth to the story. Getting to know both of them intimately—their motivations, their fears, and their individual voices—made the journey feel much more personal and engaging.
The world-building and descriptions are exceptionally vivid. As I read, I could see every scene playing out in my mind with the clarity of a movie. The author has a gift for visual storytelling that makes the fantasy elements feel grounded and real.
If you are looking for a story that will keep you up late and make you lose track of time, this is it. Even if you aren't a traditional "fantasy person," the character development and breakneck pacing make this a must-read. I am looking forward for the sequel!
2 🌶️ 3.75⭐ Urban Romantic fantasy If you are a fan of secret societies, star-crossed lovers, strong hero and heroine, and self-discovery with a bit of mystery and astrology-based gifts; then this book is a must read from debut author EC Jameson.
Gemini Gemini is the first book in a new series by EC Jameson. In Gemini Gemini you are introduced to our FMC, Piper, a personal trainer stuck in a relationship with a drug dealing boyfriend who shows little affection to her. On a camping trip, Piper is introduced to Trey, a semi-professional soccer player. After their first meeting a string of strange occurrences and situations that push Trey and Piper together, they find that they are more than what they seem. Follow along their story as they discover who they are and how they navigate the new world their thrown into.
I enjoyed reading and getting to know Piper and Trey and the journey that one night's actions thrust them into. While the plot and intrigue of Gemini Gemini was entertaining, I personally struggled to fully connect with the characters. Overall writing was pretty good with a nice pace and well-developed plot. Since this was an urban fantasy, set in modern day US, it was easy to picture the world we are set in and allowed for a great build on the "magic" system it contains.
I'd give this 3.5 stars. I think the story is unique and interesting but I feel like the story didn't really start until the 50% mark. The first half felt like we met the main characters but didn't really get any deep insights into them and then there are murders where you would think the characters would be remorseful, even though they were bad people, but they didn't really seem to care much. It seemed like the first 50% was only there to give you a few helpful tidbits for once you get to the second half of the book which seems to be where the story really picks up into what it wants to be. Here it got interesting with the Eighth House and the Kindred and the astrological abilities. This was a short easy read and does end on a cliffhanger. The second half of the book was intriguing enough for me to want to know where the story goes from here. Piper got fleshed out more and looks like she's going to become a badass FMC, she's not quite there yet but you can see the potential for her to get there. I'll read book 2.
I received this book as an arc for my honest review. I am not going to lie. At first I really enjoyed this book. I was wholly wrapped up in the chaos and drama that was Piper and Trey. I got about halfway through the book and that is where things started going downhill for me. I got very confused about the back and forth with the relationship and majority of the time it didn’t click or feel authentic. It felt like instalust and the telepathy was at times very confusing to follow. I felt like this book has amazing bones and it just felt like too much was trying to be shoved in. Between the murders, the robbery, telepathy, gifted people vs sleepers, building their business, their relationship, them being on the same team and opposite teams as well. I just got lost in the second half of the book. I felt like after the 3rd murder that is where things started to get lost and confusing. The ending was amazing and it will be a great way to tie in a second book to see what happens to Trey.
Overall I would give it 3/5 I enjoyed it and might even continue on with the next book.

I started this book on a Saturday morning and finished it by the afternoon. I was hooked in the first 30 pages and found the idea of astrology and super powers enjoyable. The story was easy to follow, with the exception of tracking the various astrological signs with the accompanying super powers. However, the author makes it clear this is the first book in a series, so I do not have an issue with this as I expect the series to provide more clarity on this topic.
The writing was descriptive and painted a picture as I read. At first, it’s believed the Kindred are the “good guys” and the Eighth House are the “bad guys”. But by the end of the book the reader is left not knowing which side to choose. It’s fascinating and leaves the reader wanting more; which is a salute to the author as he sets up the series.
Would recommend for an easy, entertaining read that transports you to another world for an afternoon.
Great read with lots of spice and an unexpected ending!
Gemini Gemini starts out with a normal scenario, following a young woman, Piper, in a relationship that has devolved from good into one of miscommunications, abuse, and distrust. Life is souring even more as time goes on and lines are crossed. Enter the zodiac and the impacts from her sign and that of her "twin". Challenges appear and the only constant is their relationship. This engaging and charismatic duo are able to stay ahead of all that life is throwing at them, including dangerous foes and secret organizations. They survive each succeeding challenge, with the stakes becoming so high that the future continually looks perilous. The story moves at a fast pace, and the ending is quite shocking!! Hoping the sequel is just as good!
I absolutely fell in love and devoured this book as quickly as I could with a 2 year old at my side all day.
If you love astrology/horoscope type things, this book is seriously for you. The amount of information I got, anddd even the few times I was like yep that is certainly a trait of most ____ I know, it had me slightly laughing over it.
Now the story part, the chemistry between the main characters is absolutely fantastic. You are in a constant state of what will happen next to these two. By the end of the book and all the adventure, I wasn't sure which side to choose. Brought me back to those team vamp vs werewolf days... only instead, it is Kindred vs Eighth House.
I highly recommend this book to anyone. Even if it isn't your typical genre, you are bound to find something that grabs your attention.
Gemini Gemini is such an interesting urban fantasy with a unique zodiac-based magic system that immediately pulled me in. Both main characters are Geminis, and their powers are tied to their sign, which made the story feel fresh and creative. Especially as a fellow Gemini reader myself.
The story mixes secret societies, high-stakes missions, good vs. evil, and dark moments involving murder and body disposal, giving the book a lot of tension and intrigue. Piper and Trey had great chemistry, and I enjoyed watching them uncover secrets about themselves.
The astrology magic system was definitely the standout part for me, and the modern setting made everything easy to picture. If you enjoy urban fantasy with mystery, morally gray situations, and supernatural twists, Gemini Gemini is definitely worth the read.
Audiobook Review Gemini Gemini shows a lot of potential, particularly in its creative world-building and unpredictable plot. E.C. Jameson sets a great pace, but the execution of the characters needs more maturity. Between the clumsy spicy scenes and a writing style that felt a bit young for the age of the protagonists, it was difficult to stay fully immersed. I also found the disparity in how men and women were described to be a bit off-putting. Narrators Maeve York and Walker Williams both did a great job with the performance, but unfortunately, I just couldn’t connect with the characters themselves. That said, the story finds its footing in the second half as Piper develops more personality, and the cliffhanger was effective enough to make me curious about where the sequel goes.
I was given an advanced reader copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I liked this book more than I expected to, and genuinely felt a need to keep reading to figure out what would happen next. Piper and Trey each frustrated me at times, but I couldn’t help but be drawn in to their story and rooting for their success and safety in what seems to be an increasingly dangerous world for them. I had to go back at times with pen and paper to keep track of all the clues and secrets I was piecing together in this surprisingly new take on astrology-driven fantasy. The ending left me reeling and needing book two right away. I can’t wait for the rest of this series!
I was gifted an ARC for an honest review and here it goes. It had a strong start, the first 100 pages I was hooked. I enjoyed seeing Piper and Trey and how their lives intersected and then somehow became one and the drama that ensued and all the fun. And then it just got difficult to follow. There is great structure for a good story but I felt like there was so much thrown in that you never got a good direction on what the point of the story was. The timeline was difficult to follow and knowing who was talking when with the telepathy was hard too. It was interesting at times but hard to follow and stay invested by the end.
I picked this book up because I am a Gemini and I’m a sucker for Gemini main characters. Which I liked the main characters enough, but I still feel like I’m missing something that makes me love them. I also had a hard time following the story at times, the duel POV is fine, but I lost aspect of the timeline. It’s narrated in present tense, but within a paragraph we are fast forwarded by a few weeks, and then transported back a few weeks to see the other POV. Spice was meh, at best.
Overall, the plot had some bones, the ending was strong. I’d give the second book a chance with the hopes things get ironed out a bit.
I listened to the audiobook version of this one, and overall it was a good read. It did take me a minute to get into it, but once it hooked me? Yeah, I was locked in and not going anywhere.
There is SO much going on in this story. Every time I thought I had it figured out, the book was like “that’s cute, try again” and sent me spiraling in a completely different direction. The twists just kept coming and I was along for the chaotic ride.
And that ending?? RUDE. I knew there was a cliffhanger. I prepared myself for a cliffhanger. I was NOT prepared for THAT cliffhanger. I did not see it coming and now I’m sitting here like… excuse me?? I need answers immediately.
I received a free audiobook to review for the author, but my opinions are my own. This book took me on a journey. It honestly felt like two wildly different stories with different plots and unfortunately they merged haphazardly. We don't start to understand or dive into the fantasy aspect of the book until about 60% in. Which, for me was disappointing as I found that aspect the most interesting. I had a hard time connecting with the character's personality types, however the audio narrators did an amazing job bringing them to life and providing them more depth. Ultimately this was not the book for me, however if you enjoy fast paced action in your stories this might be the one for you!
Like any good series, book one starts with a lot of world building and character development. I believe E.C. Jameson did a fantastic job with this. In this world, special people have gifts that are determined by their star signs. The two main characters (Geminis, as indicated by the title) develop their gifts after meeting during a vacation glamping trip with friends. Chaos ensues afterward, and they are thrown into a world with two competing factions. In book one it's still unclear who is good vs. evil. It does end on a cliffhanger that had me throwing my kindle across the room. I finished this book in less than 24 hours. Couldn't put it down.
Horoscopes, transformations, assassination attempts, kidnapping, arrests, wow that was an exciting ride! Trey and Pipers journey into this secret society is a rollercoaster. I predict that the ending will lead to either issues in the relationship by forcing one's hand to make a final choice. Was the assignment assigned in hope this would happen. I'm with Trey I don't treat the "good guys" . The relationship between Trey and Piper could use some work in the communication department. I'm frustrated that Trey didn't inform Piper of when he visited cause he wasn't doing that they agreed to. Like ugh.

What a RIDE! Set in modern day, a girl in unfortunate circumstances crosses paths with a man that’s about to change everything. After a night under the full moon, both start experiencing some supernatural circumstances, they realize it could be connected to each other. Bring in two secret societies trying to recruit them, who can they trust? Which side is good and which is evil? Not knowing who to trust, our MC’s lean on each other and learn about their new abilities together. And the ending!?!? I need a book 2 IMMEDIATELY.
This book had a very slow start but if you stick with it the finish is strong. If you read the author’s note he mentions this will be a 12 book series and that just gives me the feeling that things for Piper and Trey will get wild. I also feel like I was expecting more fantasy from the story and it seems to lean more thriller to me but I think that may be part of the storytelling and world building. The ending also threw me for a loop but it was great. There are still so many questions and I’m looking forward to getting some answers in books to come.
