Welcome to the Magical Emporium of Wares, a bookshop that appears only to those who need to find it.

The winter solstice is coming, and with it, a reckoning.

Sable thought being the Shopkeeper meant serving coffee, shelving books, and managing a talking cat's attitude. She's made peace with the magic, even embraced her role as guardian to Indigo, the world's most curious baby bookdragon. But as the solstice draws near, a magical teacher arrives at the shop's door—someone from the Cat's past who might hold the key to his freedom.

The Fates begin whispering to Sable through golden auras. Old bargains, made long before her time, surface with dangerous demands. And somewhere in the chaos of rearranging shelves, interrogating a cryptic teacher, and managing interdimensional customers, Sable has to figure out how to tell her mother she won't be home for the holidays.

The secrets she's uncovered can't be ignored. And the Cat—mysterious, maddening, and more vulnerable than he'd ever admit—might be the key to everything, if only Sable can get him to trust her.

Coffee can only solve so many problems. But friendship, courage, and one very determined Shopkeeper might just be enough.

Discover what lies beneath the Emporium's cozy surface—pick up your copy of Magical Emporium of Wares Book 2 today!

I'm an author who loves a good cozy fantasy. My stories are filled with warm vibes, found families, and just enough magic to make things interesting. I started writing to escape the real world, and I hope my books can be a warm hug for you, too.

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

Keeper & Kindred is the second book in this cozy fantasy slice of life series. Book 1 Contracts & Cats was one of my favorite reads of 2025 and I think this one has a good chance of being one of my favorite reads of 2026. After the way book 1 ended I was thinking maybe this book would feel a bit less cozy and more serious, but I am glad to say this one felt just as cozy. Even tough there is a bigger plot and some more serious topics, it feels like a cozy lighthearted read most of the time.

Keeper & Kindred continues in the same vein as the first book with some overarching plots going on as well as daily shop activities were Sable helps the customers that show up that day. I enjoyed spending time in the shop again and with these characters that already feel so familiar and I enjoy reading about them. It's such a cozy read and has that perfect slice of life feel, but with plenty going on to keep me reading.

Sable, The Cat and Indigo are such likable characters and I just love reading about them. I also like reading more about Betty and the interactions between all of these characters. This book has some more things going on related to each of them. Sable is learning something more about herself and I like seeing her explore that more. Indigo's grandfather is struggling and she has to go help him out. And Sable now finally knows why the Cat is stuck at the shop and wants to help him. And we see more of what Betty can do, I liked the new room they created for Sable.

This one has a bit of a festive vibe with the whole book leading up the Solstice celebration, so it had some holiday and winter vibes due to that. I liked seeing Sable plan the celebration and decide what to buy for everyone. And the holiday scenes were fun to read. I did feel a bit sad how Sable can't go home as she can't leave the shop and was curious to see how that would get resolved.

To summarize: I just really enjoyed reading this book. It was easy to read and I loved spending more time in this world. It was a lighthearted and cozy read with plenty of fantasy and magic elements as well as some overarching plot lines. I really like reading about these characters and spending more time with them. This book has some interesting things going on with all of them and I liked seeing Sable learn more about herself and explore that. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the third one!

Actual Rating: 3.5, rounded down

Sable is THE silliest goose of all silly gooses. The Cat once again is my favorite character (unsurprisingly), and Sable has grown on me from the first book. Indigo has a bigger presence this time, too - and while she isn’t a PoV character, it would be neat to see her included as one in future books.

One thing that drives me nuts (and is totally a me-thing) is when books cheekily reference real-world media, like “a show about elves and powerful rings” or “a movie about people and dragons with the best black dragon ever.” I understand if she can’t name the actual media, but it would be less disruptive and annoying to either make something up or be more vague so it’s not “hee hee she’s showing the baby dragon How To Train Your Dragon isn’t that silly.”

I was so happy to be back at MEOW. I missed Sable, the cat and Indigo.

This is such a cosy fantasy world that I wish I could visit. I love the shop, the magic and all the different magical creatures.

There’s lots of mystery and intrigue about the cat and Sable and we’re learning more about each of them which is exciting. It’s a little frustratingly slow at times but in a good way. It’s keeping me intrigued and wanting more.

I still adore Indigo. She is just too sweet and I love her relationship with Sable and her dragon family.

I enjoy the dual pov from Sable and the cat. I feel like we’re getting a bit more from th cat tho book which I enjoy.

This was definitely another 4⭐️ read for me. I just want more and can’t wait for book 3. The ending did seem really abrupt though and ended too suddenly for me.

Awesome contemporary fantasy

The worldbuilding is amazing, the characters are loveable, and the story is enthralling and fascinating. Sable is a wonderful narrator with a mysterious family. The premise of the traveling shop allows for adventures galore and heartwarming interactions. I read this book in KU but will buy it to reread when I need some happiness.

Series Info/Source: This is the 2nd book in the MEOW series. I borrowed this on ebook from Kindle Unlimited.

Thoughts: I really enjoyed this second book in the MEOW series. The story moves a bit slow for me, but I am enjoying the characters and the concept of the MEOW. I like that the background story makes more progress here and I love learning more about Cat's history.

Sable is continuing her contract as Shopkeeper for the Magical Emporium of Wares (MEOW). Every day is a new adventure as she helps Cat to serve different interdimensional visitors. As Solstice approaches, Sable is determined to make the holiday special for everyone at MEOW. Little does she know she might have magic of her own she needs to manage and learn.

I am not a huge fan of "day in life" type of reads, and this has a lot of that in it, those type of stories just move a bit too slowly for me. However, that being said, there are enough elements in here that I really enjoy that I am liking this series quite a bit. I love Sable and her constant positivity and willingness to confront each day like a new and amazing adventure. I love Cat with his tentative hopefulness and the baby Bookdragon full of insatiable curiosity. I am also really enjoying the unfolding of Cat's past and the hints that Sable's birth family is not exactly what she thinks they are.

I enjoy that we get little odd stories from day to day as well. The beings that show up at MEOW are varied and intriguing. I also enjoy the expansion and discovery of Sable's own magic. This is a cozy, creative, and intriguing read.

The only thing I don't enjoy is that the days can feel a bit repetitive despite the changing customers, and the story moves a bit too slow for my liking. However, that is a personal preference and I have always preferred my stories fairly fast-paced.

My Summary (4/5): Overall I am really enjoying this series. I love the characters, the unique premise, and how some of the mysteries behind Cat's past and Sable's magic are unfolding. I am still struggling some with the slower pace to this and the very "day in the life" feel. If you are looking for a cozy, creative, magical, and deliberately paced read, I would definitely recommend. I look forward to reading each book in this series, even though there are points during reading the book where I wish things would progress a bit quicker.

Cliffhangers and repetition

I did enjoy this book but removed one star for the second terrible abupt ending. No afterword, no warning, just stopped in the middle of a scene. What?

I feel these books could be condensed as the repetition of what coffee and what breakfast gets made became eye rolling very quickly. The number of times the words "maple", " cream"," bacon" ,"eggs", "latte", and " cut into perfect quarters " grew to be so many that just removing those could combine the first two books. Mentioning the process once is fine but every time after, which is multiple times a day, could just be "cat and I enjoyed another drink" and "after our standard breakfast, we opened the shop" as there is absolutely zero point in knowing what they ate and drank. It's cozy, so mentioning they did is fine, but over and over and over every day...you get the point. It's filler and not even good filler, it's copy and pasted.

I'll read the next book but if it's more of this filler with very few instances of moving the plot forward like:

her family having magic
her magic
the shop's magic,
freeing the cat,
what did the cat do,
who is her brother,
what's up with her dad and why isn't she upset about that vs worrying about trivial things like a book club
Molly,
Indigo,
the "naming has power" warning we keep getting without ramifications,
showing Sable the book that was supposed to happen in book one,
whats up with the octopi
The flower by the bed
Why cat does not want her to contract again and
SO MANY THREADS left dangling while we read about bacon and a self cleaning kitchen.

I don't know. I gave the first book 4 stars, this one 2 because of all the things I mentioned. I hope these issues get resolved in book 3 and I can rate it higher. I'm not sure they will as the book would have to drastically change how it approaches story progression. I care about the characters so I can hope.

Wheehee! more of Sable and the Magical Emporium of Works! Plus Indigo the book dragon, grumpy Cat, Betty, and a wealth of other delightful characters. (Yes I read and ARC provided by the author.)

This second book in the MEOW series starts exactly where the first left off, which was a little disorienting since I hadn't read the first book recently. I had to go back and reread the last couple of chapters of Contracts and Cats to catch up. Small annoyance, but the rest of the book made up for it. More fun cozy adventures in the magical shop with further revelations about family, friends, and the machinations of Fate. Also more book dragon, more fun creatures, and the return of several intriguing characters from Book 1. Plus rising stakes, family secrets, and maybe... romance in the future? Who knows?

Sable is getting the hang of being the Keeper, sometimes to the disgruntlement of Cat, and finding her own magic. Where will it all lead? well... once again, we don't know and, once again, I give a slightly reduced star rating because the ending is a bigger cliffhanger than the previous volume, Alas! But loved it nonetheless! luckily, Toni writes fast...

I came out of Contracts & Cats with very high expectations, and by the Cat did Toni deliver.
This book had everything the first one had, with a dash of added mystery.
While the everyday life in the MEOW continues its due process, with an extremely diverse cast of customers popping in, the mystery around the Cat, and especially around Sable, thickens by the minute.

If Contracts & Cats was a warm hug and a cup of hot cocoa, Keeper & Kindred adds just a touch of chili to the mix. Not enough to ruin the coziness, but it brings that hint of something more. Some tension, a sense that something bigger is in the works behind the scenes.

At the end of the day, the biggest selling point for me is once again the little bookdragon; Indigo. She stole my heart in the first book and is refusing to give it back. At this point, let her have it, it would break if I had to steal it back from her anyway.

I still very much enjoy the fact that the chapters are many but short, bite-sized. It was so easy to squeeze in a chapter here and there without having to worry about being forced to stop mid-chapter for whatever reason.

cosy

Picking up where volume one left off, we are back with Sable, Cat, and Indigo in the Magical Emporium Of Wares, Betty.
This time, Sable is trying to figure out how to help the Cat, helping Indigo’s family, and looking forward to the Winter Solstice, although she misses her family.
Along the way, she and Cat help other people with the things they need, and Sable makes some important magical strides!

Just like the first volume, this book is a warm and cosy read, with a lovely cast of characters and set in an intriguing universe. I love the sentient shop, the mystery surrounding the Cat (and what he did), and especially the baby book dragon; but even Sable’s family are lovely characters.
It’s an enjoyable story, and I’m hoping we find out some more about Sable, her family, and her quest to help the Cat out from his curse soon— I have faith in her abilities!

This is a lovely, cosy fantasy, with en enjoyable, slow paced story. It’s perfect for those who want a low tension/angst read, and especially those who love sentient buildings, dragons, and a redemption arc.

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of Keeper & Kindred…I’m going to keep telling myself it was the result of a nudge from someone touched by Fate magic ;) This is the second book in the Meow series. As others have noted, start with first book in the series - this second installment wastes no pages reviewing what came before.

This book is so cozy yet retains a wonderful pace that keeps you turning the page late into the night. Sable, the Cat & Indigo are such lovable characters. Witnessing their relationships (and them as individual characters) grow was a treasure. And how incredible is the shop?! I’d be remiss if I said I wasn’t daydreaming about redecorating my home like a whimsical coffee shop bookstore. I especially loved the many beings that find themselves at the shop. Toni Binns does a great job of pushing past the types of magical beings you typically expect to walk into a magical shop. The result is a creative, unique experience with each new guest without missing out on the tried & true magical beings we all love.

I am waiting with bated breath for book 3! If you love whimsical fantasy, this series will be right at home in your TBD list.

***ARC Review***

I had the pleasure of ARC reading both book 1 and book 2 of Meow: Magical Emporium of Wares and it is like a big warm hug. Super cozy, adorable, humorous, and even includes its own surprises and things that need to be overcome. It is a true story of found family and making a family out of something that is more than just blood and genes.

Keeper & Kindred does not suffer from book 2 syndrome, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it more enjoyable than the first installment. The author has managed to do a wonderful job carrying on the story without it falling into the stalling and dragging pit falls. She continues to keep you engaged in the storyline and while you start to gather some answers from the first book, you begin to have new questions arise.

This read has come at a wonderful time for me and is a great option if you ever just need something light and cozy to warm your soul. Although, be warned.. These books get dangerous for the waistline, and cravings are a serious potential side effect.

Toni said she wanted this book to feel like a hug on the page and that’s exactly what she’s accomplished with this series. There’s just something comforting about Sable’s, Indigo’s and the Cat’s daily lives at MEOW that has me reluctant to close the pages of this magical world the author has created.

Keeper and Kindred continues from where the first book ended and we journey along with Sable as she discovers more about the shop, magical beings, her family and her own inherent power. Through it all her desire to help the Cat find freedom from his fate and willingness to nurture Indigo, never fades.

The found family they’ve created at Meow including the sentient shop remains one of my favorite elements of this series. I’m almost always left with a sweet tooth after every chapter that has delicious drinks and cookies described.

If you’re looking for a read to brighten your day and put a smile on your face, then Keeper and Kindred is the perfect book for you.

This is a lovely addition to the series and I'm really looking forward to the next book already! The found family trope is a favorite of mine, along with cats and magical creatures, so this is right up my alley. The only tiny gripe I have is that it's been long enough between the books that I've forgotten about some of the minor characters and could have used a little reminder of how they fit in the story. This is only a very MINOR issue and didn't lessen my enjoyment. I just spent some time trying to remember some folks who appeared "out of the blue" in this installment. A little bit of backstory would be much appreciated in the next book, but nothing would stop me from getting the next part of the story as soon as it's available!

Thanks to Toni for letting me grab this a bit early!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Keeper & Kindred is cozy fantasy at its best — a gentle slice‑of‑life story set inside a magical bookshop complete with its own tiny dragon. Returning to Sable, Cat, and Indigo felt like slipping back into a warm, familiar space, but with enough new intrigue to keep the pages turning.

I enjoyed this instalment even more than the first. The pacing felt smoother, with more happening in each chapter and far less repetition. It was genuinely hard to put down, and I found myself wanting to linger in this world long after I finished.

I’m already looking forward to the next book, especially to see what’s really going on with Sable’s brother.

Such a great book! We are back in Meow the bookstore, and we find out a little more about Sable - about her magic along the way along with Cat, Indigo the dragon, and Betty the bookstore.

If you are looking for a cosy, non violent, non sexual book this is it. What we do have is a magical bookstore, a baby dragon, a cat that is a fae lord that has been trapped for his past misdeeds in said bookstore.

Sable always finds a way to make new friends, and while she misses her family, she is staying at the bookstore to help everyone. It's the continuation from the first book - could you pick this book up and read it as a standalone - I think you could but if I were you I would pick up both so you can find out how Sable got to be where she is and the whole bookstory :)

4.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 5

This is an excellent low stakes, cosy, fantasy read. In this book we get more information about the bookshop and the Cat, plus even more Indigo antics.

This book follows along with Sable’s journey of discovering herself and abilities and connection with the shop, Betty.

This story is easy to read, it’s like putting on a cosy, familiar show that is comforting and soothing and honestly a perfect companion to current news events. I can’t wait for the next book to delve deeper into the characters journeys!

Thank you Toni for providing an advanced copy of this book, I am leaving a review voluntarily.

I received an ARC from the author. Thank you!

This installment was just as cozy and low stakes as the first book. I really enjoy this series because it’s so laid back and a lot of fun, but there’s just enough of a fantasy element to it to keep it interesting, while staying in the (mostly) normal world. Though we are getting teased with a bit of magical mysteries this time around.

Truly, this is the perfect series to read when you just want to decompress and sit with a mug of coffee and a sweet treat.

K&K is a much anticipated continuation of the magic that is Contracts & Cats. We get to catch up with a wisening Sable, a thawing Cat, and a growing Indigo to see just how this chosen family grows together, and individually. This cozy magical tale spans worlds and time to prove just how much believing in yourself and others can change the threads of fate.

I found myself smiling through the adventures and rooting for these friends as they traverse new experiences. Also, waffles and bacon anyone?

I loved reading Keeper & Kindred! As with the first book in the series, this is one of those books to read when you want to feel better. It's the cozy fantasy equivalent of being wrapped up in a soft blanket with your favorite warm beverage. I love the characters, and the story is so engrossing. I always want to know what happens next, but it's a comfortable, eager feeling, never nail-biting or edge of my seat. I highly recommend Keeper & Kindred, just be sure to read the first book of the MEOW series first if you haven't yet.

Somehow I missed this had come out, even though I followed the author after reading book 1 which I loved. Book 2 is just as good if not better. We no know a lot more about what's going on, so there's less mystery, but there's more mystery created by the events in book 2.

I love indigo the baby Dragon, and the cat has developed more of a personality in my opinion than they had in the first book.

I highly recommend these to anybody who likes cosy fantasy. The magic is very different and the whole premise/plot is an unusual one.

This series is just so cozy and enchanting. It's very low stakes and provides a lot of comforting moments. There's a ton of talk about food, coffee, tea, desserts(cookies!), magical, cats, and baby dragons. Everything is so cute, you follow the day to day life of Sable as she manages a magical bookshop cafe which traverses the realms to bring good books and coffee to different magical creatures.

Can't wait for book 3, already preordered it! This is the kind of series you read when you want something light and cozy, similar to legends and lattes. Highly recommend!

Endearing Characters, uplifting fun!

Love this series! Every day brings new opportunities to help others as a diversity of clientele from dragons, cat people, squid beings from an ocean planet, to human (appearing) college students flow through the magical bookstore and coffeehouse.
Sable the Shopkeeper, and Cat (who is much more than an actual house-cat), manage the flow and services to assist patrons, as the magic of the shop itself supports the process.
This is truly an uplifting delightful story and I can’t wait for book 3!!!

Wonderful

I am not quite sure when I have enjoyed stories as much as I have enjoyed these two books. I hope that there are more books coming about MEOW. Sable, Indigo and the Cat are delightful characters, as well as those various entities who patronize the Emporium. These are easy stories to read, and they make my heart smile as I consume them. Does this make me a book dragon?

I can't get over how much I am enjoying this story. In the beginning I was a bit put off by all the coffee stuff but now I read the book with an espresso in one hand and sourdough toast in the other. I even baked for the first time in years. I am going to get fat reading this book. On to book 3.

Intrancing!

I have devoured these first two books! I love the story line and all the different characters. The story makes you fall in love with the with the characters and freeing Cat has been a mystery in itself. Indigo makes you want a little dragon yourself. Its going to be too long of a wait for the next book. Can't wait!

Enjoying this series

Just finished book 2 of this series and I’m so looking forward to book 3. Just all-around cozy, feel good read. Now I have to wait for book 3, but I enjoyed it so much, I’m going to check out the author’s previous series. Maybe that will hold me over. Highly recommend.

good writer.

I found her literary gymnastics in presenting a delightful Christmas story with Christian values as pagan beliefs very sad. The author clearly has great talent and no faith.
