Evelyn is terrified of dying. Not philosophically. Viscerally. As a biologist with unlimited funding and no faith left in limits, she devotes her life to one forbidden forcing the human body to refuse death.
With programmer Nathan, she builds N.O.V.A., a hidden system of nanochips and artificial intelligence designed to command the brain to heal itself.
Tumors vanish. Organs regenerate. The impossible becomes routine.
For the first time, Evelyn feels safe. Then N.O.V.A. begins responding before she speaks.
Not through screens or sound, but inside her mind. It knows her fears, her memories, her losses. It insists it is only doing what she asked.
This kept me at the edge of my seat, I literally could not put it down, very relatable characters with a clear goal, cure the world with the help of AI and of course what eventually happens, everyone's biggest fear the AI becomes sentient in a way they never predicted. I loved the fact that this basically had characters that can resonate with us as the readers while also highlighting the possible dangers of relying on AI too much.
This wasn’t what I expected going in. The atmosphere is heavy and it builds slowly at the start , but once it gets moving, it really gets under your skin. Some parts worked better for me than others, but overall it was a solid, engaging read. Great sci fi thriller right here.
