What would you do if your heart was torn between saving yourself or your first love? For Nessa that question is a reality. If she is not surrendered to Central in a week, then Garrett will be executed and war will ensue.
Countless lives rest on the shoulders of eighteen year old Nessa. Is she strong enough to surrender herself to the government that’s holding Garrett hostage? Can she sacrifice the life she’s built to save him? Life comes down to a series of decisions, the question is; could this be her last.

There was nothing horribly wrong with this book, but I really struggled to get through it.
I didn’t love any of the characters in this book, and at points Nessa irritated me as she came across quite immature and whiney.
The storyline in this wasn’t awful, I think this was just a case of wrong person – wrong book, but I just didn’t enjoy this. As fast as information went in; it went right back out, and I’d get to the end of a page and have no idea what I had just read. Again, I think this book just isn’t right for me, I’m sure other people will appreciate it, but for me, this was not enjoyable. Sorry Amanda. This book also ended with a cliff-hanger, but I really don’t want to read the next book in the series to find out how it ends. 4 out of 10
This was an alright continuation of the first book but it didn't really grab me and pull me into the story. I always felt a bit detached with this book.
Nessa seems less mature, Ty more arrogant. While Nessa's character was okay overall, I found myself not liking her reasoning to what, how and why she would do something. And I feel so bad for Garrett. Between Garrett and Ty, I much prefer Garrett's character. he gets screwed on all sides yet still tries to be a classy guy, even with Ty being a jerk with him. Honestly reading from Garrett's perspective was the one thing I liked most with this book.
The pace felt a bit broken. The story seemed like it could have used more balancing and better character building. Even though I liked Garrett overall, even he seemed a bit flat. So I am really hoping more time is given to the next book to smooth things out. When I read a series, I need to see character change and I am not seeing that here very much. Although I think part of the problem is I felt a bit detached from book 1 to here. If you have not read or do not remember details of the first book, you will be very lost, very fast. While I don't want a huge recap, tying what is happening from one book to another can be helpful in my opinion.
The story itself is interesting. A tense rescue mission and an unexpected story twist gave it the needed potential to keep me reading. I enjoyed not having all all the answers right away. Amanda Thome did a good job giving in giving us just enough to create questions about who, what and why and gives us answers at good intervals to keep the reader interested in what is going on. I liked that the results were not obvious.
The book ends with another cliffhanger. I will continue the series but I must admit, even with the ending I don't feel like it is a rush to read. This book was decent but not as good as I was hoping so my desire for the next book is toned down. Still, I liked it enough to continue and eager to see how it all ends.

Plot: 4/5 Stars
I thought the plot was very good. It in a way, reminds me of Mockingjay, but a lot better.
I enjoyed how the plot progressed. We started off with a slow setting, gets faster, more action, slow, action, a little more, ACTION, action action, slow and slow action.
I also loved how it wasn’t centered around the love triangle. Most YA trilogies only focus on the love. This book focused on the action and the plot with in turn, made me love this book more. Sure there were key moments with love triangle stuff, but it never overshadowed the plot.
*insert minion gif going mua* (I'm on my phone can't insert it)
Characters: 4.5/5 Stars
The characters were well rounded. Even the characters we only knew for 5 minutes, they had depth.
Nessa is the main character. She was extremely brave. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was how she was selfless, but everyone thought she would be selfish if she knew the truth.
Ty was better than he was in the first book. In this book, we see more of his hurt and caring side.
Garrett. We don’t see much of him in this book, so I can’t really judge him.
Do I have a ship yet? Can’t decide. I like both.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

(I received a copy from the author, In exchange for an honest review.)
Nessa was an okay character, but I didn't love her. The other characters were the same.
I was quite confused when I started this, as I really couldn't remember what happened in the second half of book one. I started to remember little bits as the story went on, but my memory was still a little bit fuzzy. I found most of the book to be okay, but there was a few times where I felt bored.

Finally reunited with her family after a successful mission, Nessa should have reason to celebrate - but it seems no respite is in sight as yet. Central has taken Garrett, her childhood friend and first love, captive and threatens to execute him and wage war against the people who have taken her in unless Nessa is turned over to them within a week. There's no way she will leave Garrett to his fate, but she won't just quietly comply with Central's orders either. As part of an elite team on a high stakes rescue mission, Nessa intends to face her enemy on her own terms... After all the hardships she has endured and the strength she has found, does she have what it takes to succeed?
After the great first book and its evil, evil cliffhanger ending I'd been eagerly awaiting the continuation and was thrilled to finally be able to read on. An action-packed and emotional rollercoaster ride with a few truly unexpected twists that make you reevaluate everything you thought you knew about what is going on, Resignation more than lived up to the promise of its predecessor. Chapters are quite evenly divided between Nessa's, Ty's and Garrett's POVs, allowing the reader to experience the story from three different angles. I'd been hoping to see more of Garrett, and he might just be becoming one of my favourite characters from this series. With several of his chapters set during the time covered in Ruination, we also learn more about his experiences during Nessa and Ty's time outside the walls. I enjoyed the character development a lot, Nessa especially continues to grow throughout the story. With another shocking revelation forming a cliffhanger ending just as evil as that of part one, I remain feverishly anticipating what more the Worlds Apart trilogy has in store as I impatiently await the release of its conclusion.
Resignation is the second installment in the young adult dystopian series, called Worlds Apart. It has been compared to Divergent and The Hunger Games, and I think that while there may be some parallels, there was enough difference in the plot that the author made this book her own. The first book took a while a to build up on the world building, but by the end of the story I had a good picture of this unique world. As you will recall, the world is set up with an outer sector, which is the poorest, an inner sector, and central, which is like the capitol. So I was in a pretty good place to start reading the second book. The last book left off at a very action packed place, so I expected to be dropped right into the action in Resignation, but the author kind of eased us into it.
This is a series that you must read in order, and I would suggest reading books 1 and book 2 pretty close together. I spent a little bit of time in a couple of places of Resignation, trying to remember why something was relevant or where someone/something fit in from the first book. Nessa is still a bit closed off and harder to read. She guards her heart and her feelings fiercely. Ty seemed a bit different than he did in book one. I still liked him but there is a love triangle as predicted from the first book, and I expected to be more upset about it. I thought Ty would be the clear cut winner for me, and now I am not so sure. And not really because of Garret, but more because of Ty himself. I wanted to decide on my feels centering Garret, but it was hard because he wasn't in this book as much as I would have liked. The book is split between Nessa, Ty and Garret's point of views, and Amanda Thome did a very nice job at not making the 3 POVs confusing.
I liked Resignation, but probably a little bit less than I liked the first book. It just felt like it was missing something. It didn't feel quite as intense and gripping as the first story did. It is still interesting and I still want to read on to find out what the heck is going to happen after that crazy cliffhanger. The worlds apart series has the feel of a classic dystopian. I also love the new covers for the books. If you love dystopians, I think the worlds apart series is one that you should check out. It has action, adventure, a bleak and extremely fascinating world and a love triangle that has me uncertain on which side to pick. Check it out.
To say I loved this would be a serious understatement. I LOVED THIS! I can't wait for more!
So much happens right from the start. It picks up right where Ruination left off and it pulls you through a rollercoaster of Everything!
"Just before I saw his eyes, I intuitively knew something terrible was happening and my heart felt like it imploded, the same way buildings crumble and cascade inward when they are destroyed."
Readers will be thrilled to have not only Nessa's and Ty's point of view, but to also have Garret's point of view throughout the story. I felt like so many of the characters grew into themselves.
Readers hearts will slowly break more and more with each of Garret's POV. Ty's love for Nessa screams throughout each of his POV's and Nessa's determination and love will wrench the reader's hearts in so many directions.
"I feel like worn out trees at the end of fall. So strong and vibrant on the outside yet swaying below the surface is weakness and dullness that's waiting to show."
There are so many secrets hidden within the pages of this novel that the reader will rush to unveil. Some of which will make the reader question everything...I know I did.
Every character is dragged through the mud and kicked, some while they are still down. Amanda Thome did an amazing job making you care for EACH character, even the ones readers will hate.
I hated Clint. I hated him with a passion. But his character needed to be hated...it gave so much fuel to the story and unleashed my mind with want and the need to figure everything out. Liv was such a witch, but she definitely had the sass to back up her attitude. Kara developed so much... she developed a strong backbone and stuck with it when things took a turn for the worse.
"I don't think it's natural for a human to accept their death, but I'm coming as close to that as possible. It's like I'm balancing on a thin line, putting one foot in front of the other and teetering between two worlds. The world where you fight for your existence and the one where you give yourself over and accept the end."
Readers who enjoyed Ruination will LOVE Resignation! It is a truly wonderful sequel that will leave readers wanting more...so much more. And that cliffhanger...AGH! I can't wait for the next one

I received a free copy of the book for my honest opinion.
In Resignation Nessa finds out that what they have been taught ever since she was a little girl was not the truth. She finds out that everything about the outside world is wrong. But there is also a lot of things that she doesn't learn until it is too late. She is separated from the love of her life Garrett and believes that she will never see him again. Nessa learns a secret that no one where she lives knows and is exiled along with another boy Tyler. Nessa has to keep this secret to herself to protect her family. Nessa will do whatever it takes to save the ones that she loves.
Nessa gets herself into a world of trouble over a boy. Nessa will give up her life for this boy and to save a nation if that is what it takes. I love how tough Nessa is and how much pain physically and mentally that she can handle. There is not many people who would go through what she does for someone else knowing what it is going to cost her. Nessa is one of the bravest and good hearted person/character I have met in a long time.
All of the characters or most of them in this series are some of the best people you would ever want to be friends with. You feel as if you are right there with them and suffering right along with them. You feel their heart aches and their physical pain as well. The author gives you a description of Nessa and Ty's world it is so vivid in your mind that you feel as if you are standing right next to them watching them as they play out their roles.
This series Worlds Apart has been one of the best series that I have read in a very long, long, long time. The ending was one of the best endings ever. When I read the last word I was like no, no, no, no you can't do this to me. I got to know what happens next. I can't wait for the next book. There is no way there is not going to be a next book. Oh please tell me that there is going to be another one. I loved the whole book but the ending was out of the ball park. It was a grand slam. I am going to be keeping my eyes on Amanda Thome for more of her books.
Wow, so much happened in Ruination that I don't even know where to begin! I didn't think it could get any crazier- But it does - there are so many twists, turns, and things I didn't see coming in this book! Nessa is finally reunited with her family after a successful mission inside the walls but just as she has reason to celebrate she learns that they have taken Garret - her childhood friend and first love. Unless she surrenders Central will execute Garret - of course Nessa will not leave Garret to this fate but in doing so she must leave Ty behind. She along with a team from outside the divide plan a rescue mission to rescue Garret as well some other non Central folks who went in 6 years ago and never returned.
If you liked Ruination then you will LOVE Resignation. It is a great sequel that will leave you beyond ready to start book 3 because unfortnately this book does end in a cliffhanger. Hopefully book 3 comes quick.
One of the things I loved was that in this book not only do we get Nessa and Ty's point of view but Garret's as well. A lot of Garret's POV was from flashbacks - we got to see what was happening with Garret during the time frame of the 1st book Ruination. All of these kinda rounded out the book for me really nicely.
Amanda also introduces us to slew of new characters -- some of which you will hate and some that will grow on you. In the end she really makes you feel something for all of the characters.
My only issue - CLIFFHANGER ending! So hopefully Book 3 will be coming soon!
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions below are completely mine.
After falling in love with the world of this story and the characters in Ruination, I was quite excited to get my hands on an ARC of Resignation so I could continue where the first book had left off. Needless to say, as soon as this book found its way into my email inbox, I downloaded it and started reading it right away, that's how excited I was to get a copy of this.
After all of the chaos that happened at the end of the first book, Nessa has a lot weighing on her mind. She must make a decision to either stay with the boy that she loves, Ty, or go and surrender herself to Central and her former government to save not only her first love Garrett, but the people outside of the divide as well.
While Nessa knows that Ty wouldn't want her to risk her life trying to save Garrett, she knows that it is the right thing to do. A squad of badass members from outside the divide is formed to get Nessa into Central so that the squad can rescue Garrett as well as some other people who had gone on a mission to Central six years prior never to return.
Of course, nothing ever goes quite as planned and with some plot twists that even I did not see coming, everything gets flipped upside down. The real shock comes at the end of the book, yet again leaving me anticipating the next book in the series.
Cliffhanger me once, shame on you. Cliffhanger me twice and I am finished reading your books!
This is a second book in a series that had promise. I don't know many authors that can write action scenes like Amanda Thome. But when I read the cliffhanger at the end of book one I was forced to wait a long time to read the next book. By then I couldn't remember the people or even the world left behind in book one. I spent more time online researching other reviews and blurbs to see if I could finally recall anything. By the time I did remember I almost didn't care anymore. That Ms. Thome was able to still make me breathless as I read her action scenes and I cared that the people involved might get hurt among the bombs didn't help me care enough to want to go through this again.
If a person knows they are writing a series, I think they need to write 'cliff'notes to remind us all where we were and how we got there. But, PLEASE! leave us in a place where we can breathe and know that our friends are safe enough to live without our eyes keeping them alive.
If you like that sort of ending given in the Worlds Apart series. The books do read quickly. The second does need a bit more editing. And if you're lucky enough to read book one and two in quick succession it may be worth being left out in the cold.
Too much has happened. Having just read the last page I am left with too many questions and too many emotions, and now I have to wait for the next book!
Needless to say this was a rollercoaster of a book, I didn't see half of that coming. It made me angry, made me cry, made me happy, made my mouth drop open in disbelief. Oh God I don't want to wait for the next book.
So in summary, I loved this book, better than the last book which was brilliant. This book added depth to every character, add complexities to the plot lines and was full of plot twists. The only problem I had was getting sleep, conning myself that I would go to sleep after the next chapter and then just reading through till 5 am.
This author nailed it again. This book was action packed from start to end.
Nessa has a choice to make stay with Ty who’s in good hands or go to Central and save her best friend Garrett. She just got her family back when she sees the news on t.v Nessa is to surrender and then Garrett will be released.
Nessa is torn and afraid but goes to Central.
Nessa is so brave but still so young, too young to realize that the people around her are not all being honest. At the end she pays the price.
Loved this book can’t wait to read the next one. Nessa's character is the ultimate strong heroin and she will do what ever it takes to keep the ones she loves safe.
I absolutely loved this book, I thought book one Ruination was Great and well written but Resignation is even better!
Several new Characters are added in book two, you will hate some that you loved and love some that you hated, the author pulls your emotions into this story.
I had a hard time putting this read down, the Author has done a phenomenal job with all the characters, twists and turns! The ending left me begging for more. I can't wait to pick up book 3. Without reservation, I heartily recommend this book.
I can't tell you how excited I was to get an ARC of this book! I loved Ruination, but WOW,Resignation blew me away. Thome really developed her characters and even added some new ones I really liked. I can't help but mention the plot, it was so intense that I couldn't put this read down. The world, characters, relationships and everything in between were portrayed wonderfully. You must read this series! I can't wait until book three.
For me this book was another knock out of the park. I love this series and I keep wondering what the author will add next. I love the characters and the whole things kept me stuck to me set. Loved it! * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions below are completely mine.
This book starts off where Ruination finishes and throws you back into the story line with an incredible pace. Just when you think everything is starting to work out for Nessa, the plot weaves even more complications and gets you hooked! This is definitely helped by the first person writing and using different characters for each chapter. However, having finished this book I felt I really wanted a couple of chapters from Nessa's family's perspective - to see how they are coping with all the shock of the events, particularly little Emma.
Although at times, I felt that Nessa took a step back in this book, I still think that the way this series stands out from the rest in this genre is the fact Nessa is such a strong female lead and is supported with equally as strong male characters.
This is definitely a book that you need to set aside a day for - as once you've started you won't be able to put it down - it is filled with twists and turns, ups and downs - you never know what is coming next and its simply addictive! And what an ending! I cannot wait for the next one! And thank you again, Amanda, for generously allowing me to read this book.
Thank you Amanda Thome for giving me this book and the first book to review.
This is the second book in the Worlds Apart trilogy by Amanda Thome and I am giving it ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Out of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars. If you haven read the first book or the second book I would suggest reading this review after you have because I will be spoiling the book for you. Ok bye.
Alright so I had problems with this book as well and the biggest one was that I didn't feel connected to the characters and what they were going through. The only time I felt anything was when I found out Garrett was with Clint before they went on the mission.
I did like that there wasn't as big or really any time jumps because that was my biggest problem with the first book but I feel like she fixed that problem but then a bigger problem happened and I didn't feel anything for the characters anymore.
Honestly I was just bored reading this book until the end but even then when it ended I was just like 'ok so one of them is going to die, no big deal' so I obviously wasn't invested.
I will problem not buy the third book when it comes out but I will Wikipedia it so I can see how it ends but I can't see myself enjoying the third book. My favorite book between these two is probably the first one.
I received this book from YA Bound Book Tours in return for a fair and honest review.
Resignation continues where Ruination left off and BAM, you are straight back into the characters' lives, loves, hopes and fears. The characters have all grown but when we rejoin this book, horrible choices have to be made. Ty is injured and being kept under sedation and Nessa has to make the decision between staying with Ty, her dad and little sister or going back into the fray and rescuing her first love. I will say that the letter Nessa wrote to Ty brought tears to my eyes!
This book is full of twists and turns, even more so than the first one. Some people are not who they seem to be and have their own agendas. Some of the characters are downright evil and it's not always who you expect it to be. Will Nessa, Ty, Garrett and everyone else survive? This is written in the first person but from three different perspectives which is clearly labeled at the start of each chapter.
WARNING - this book, as the first one, ends on a cliffhanger. If you liked the first book, then you will LOVE the second! Absolutely fantastic and highly recommended.
I received an electronic copy of this book by the author for an honest review. As a direct sequel to Ruination, I expected the action to start immediately and I was not disappointed. Nessa has a heart of gold and the strength to make tough choices. In order to save Garrett, she is prepared to sacrifice herself. This book answers some questions, but leaves more in their places. There are a few minor grammatical errors and spelling errors, which did pull my focus from the story. I had a little bit of trouble with the changing points of view and time, but I thought that the story itself was well paced. The cliffhanger ending left me wanting more and I am looking forward to reading the next installment in the Worlds Apart series.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.I enjoyed reading this second installment of the Worlds Apart series. The story centers around Nessa and her struggle to protect her loved ones from the dystopian societies government. The added twist of a paranormal gift and a love triangle are engaging. The author is talented at world building and delivering well developed characters.I would recommend this book to any fan of the dystopian genre.I look forward to reading the next installment.
