In this installment of Mellow Summers, Mel, of course, solves a murder. But this time she finds a body in a neighbor's apartment dressed as a zombie. And guess who's back? Rachel! She hasn't been around for a while so I was glad to see her again. I love that she just pops in whenever she wants. Though it can be inconvenient for Mel and her friends...

We all turned and watched as another of my neighbors run away screaming, slamming the door to her apartment as she went in. Just great. The stories about this floor being haunted will continue.

I love her so much!

"It's kind of spooky in here," whispered Rachel.
"Says the spook," I said...

Rachel is a ghost, in case anyone forgot. Lol.

“It’s the zombie apocalypse!” screamed Rachel.
Jackie and I ran for the stairs with Rachel outpacing us.
“You’re running from zombies?” I asked her, incredulous.
“Yeah,” said Rachel. “They’re zombies!”
“But you’re already dead!” I yelled back.

She is so funny! This is the quality content I look for in a Mellow Summers book. I just love it! I also love Mel because she is so sassy and just takes shit from no one. You go girl! Jack is another character I love. He is Greg’s cousin and they are always asking him for favors and he always helps them with cases... Against his will. Poor Jack. Lol. Tammy is in this still too and I still don't like her. She’s probably the only recurring character I don’t like. She is just really annoying and obnoxious.

But overall, I really enjoyed this book. I always love these Mellow Summers books because they’re just so much fun. I adore the characters and the mystery was pretty interesting too. Look, this isn't deep stuff, but that's what I like! It’s a fast, light read and I am looking more shenanigans with Mellow Summers!

This was a fast little cozy mystery. It was not the first in the series. I was hoping it wouldn’t matter, but it definitely did. There were many characters that I didn’t understand how they were relevant to the story, or why they reacted the way that they did. I felt like I was on the outside of an inside joke. There was a ghost who caused trouble, but why? This would have also benefited from some editing. Give this one a pass.
