It is believed that Matthew was the first apostle to write a gospel, possibly as early as 50 AD. He was a wealthy tax collector who profited greatly from his duty of representing Rome. And then one day, the Man from Galilee stood in front of him and said, Come follow me.

Beautiful translation

The passion translation does a great job of reorganizing he Hebrew and Greek translations into modern text. I like reading this version With the amplified to get the full picture and have found the passion translation to ring true

Intimate and intense translation. The book absorbed me as if I were there. I've read Matthew numerous times a year over the past 35 years, this translation spoke to my heart and soul. I read just bits at a time so I could savory the words and let them take root in my mind and soul.
