Sammy and Horatio are grieving, but neither of them realizes it yet. The two are facing challenges the day they come back from their honeymoon with the rogue vampire terrorizing the compound. Trying to protect the families and take care of Vista Maria in Gage's absence has pushed Horatio to his limits. His bond with his brother becomes weakened to the point it might break. And a new fear develops when the two newlyweds adopt a child into the family. Now they not only have to worry about themselves, but are responsible for a fragile boy named Theo.
Childhood shapes choices.
Sammy loses the only positive in her lonely past and is haunted by memories of the night Marla became a vampire. Her and Marla are still at odds, but Sammy can no longer ignore her hurtful words and the impact they leave behind. She has to make a continue ignoring the pain she pushed aside until it destroys her, or face the hard reality of her behaviors? Either option will change her completely. To top everything off, the rogue has followed them home to Vista Maria.
"Beth Page's ability to introduce her plot and keep her reader dangling for the next tasty morsel made me grab another cup of coffee and nibble away deep into the witching hour. I'm looking forward to her next installment of high energy, quick paced and just the right amount of spice/drama." - Goodreads
I received an arc of this book and am leaving the review voluntarily. This review is also spoiler free. It was very great read. I enjoyed Sammy as a character, and really enjoyed getting into her head. The writing was well done and easy to follow. I’ll be keeping my eye on this series, especially with an ending like that ;) Now that’s a good way to keep readers wanting more
Did I hate Sammy at the start of this book? Yes. Did I struggle to start this book because I hated Sammy? Yes. Am I glad that I pushed through and got over it enough to read the book? Yes, Theo is worth it. I love how Beth Page was able to keep the storyline from book 1 going into book 2, it really feels like it's one story, the focus just shifts. However, Ms. Page, lets talk about that ending. Let us talk about the emotional damage you have given me. Let us discuss the way I screamed at the last page. You will be paying for my therapy, I will send you the bill. Can't believe you did that to me, again! Makes me want to throw a Theo level tantrum, not even gonna lie.
Loved this continuation of the Vista Maria clan!!! So much turmoil, bad ass women, and added storyline. My only complaint about this book...THE ENDING...WAIT not ending...CLIFFHANGER!!! UGH needs to know... IYKYK!!! Awesome job, Beth, and dying for the conclusion tho.
