From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Zoe York comes another standalone Pine Harbour Christmas novel, the perfect spicy holiday treat for second chance romance fans...

Cassie and Nate broke up eleven months ago. On Christmas Eve! So there's zero chance that Cassie's giving Nate a second chance. Not even after an accidental make out session in the supply room of her new shop. The helicopter pilot is too emotionally unavailable for the creative wild child, end of story.

So when her mom invites her ex to Christmas Eve dinner, Cassie has no choice but to invent the fact that she has a date for the holiday...and find a date...and then survive that dinner when Nate brings a date of his own.

Nate, of course, doesn't want anyone but Cassie. He's just trying to hold on to the last remnants of his sanity as he watches his wife slip further and further away. This Christmas, he has one last chance to show her he wants more, he wants to be more, for her. He wants to be her everything.

But proving that is easier said than done with Minellis, and dates, around every corner at the Little Tree Farm.

This is a breezy little second chance novella where the spirit of Christmas saves the day. Cassie and Nate broke up *last* Christmas eve and he moved out of the house into his Sad Apartment. Listen. I reread the start of this. I reread the relevant parts of the previous book The Ex-mas Breakup where it happened. I still wasn't sure why they broke up. He said she was "too much" and their personalities were different where she Loves Whimsy and he is Serious Helicopter Pilot or something? All I know is this is the second book in this Pine Harbor universe where the husband says impetuously "we should break up" and the wife leaves and they both spends many months being sad and miserable AND THEY NEVER ONCE TALK ABOUT MAYBE NOT DOING IT THEN. Maybe instead of umpteen midwives practicing in this town, we should get one family therapist.

One of my favorite micro tropes in romance is when the hero tamps it all down because he worries that to unleash one specific appetite or reaction will mean a loss of control with others. The pinnacle of this is in the excellent Come As You Are when the MMC panics at their first intimacy because it mirrors his actions while he was not sober and he's conflated it all. Here, Nate has the same issue. His father is an addict, so he's always worried about losing control. What he thought was going to be a hot night with cute girl when he first met Cassie completely flipped when he discovered he would be her first (she was 21, he was 30). "When she told me she was a virgin, I slowed way down and made it good for her [...] but there were some selfish desires that I locked down pretty hard." Like way not to have a growth mindset my dude! They got stuck in their roles of Responsible Husband and Flighty Wife and couldn't get out.

Anyway. Cassie is out here hashtag thriving, and after barely communicating for ten months all of a sudden these two have a little chemistry incident in the backroom of her...dog accessory shop (??). Her mom does a light meddle and invites Nate to Christmas dinner, they both say they are bringing dates (and at no time does anyone actually believe the people they bring are dates), they actually have a productive conversation about past patterns and preferences and how people change and grow. The end.

It was a fun and short holiday read, and a great revisit with some Pine Harbor faves.

Thank you to the author for the arc.

The Holidate Disaster by Zoe York
Pine Harbor Little Tree Farm Book 2
Narrated by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross

Narrated in duet – enjoyed both narrators, at times the audio seemed to be at different levels? But didn’t distract from the flow of the story.

The first chapter I was ‘urgh am I going to like these MCs?’ But thankfully I got into the groove of the dynamics between Cassie and Nate and really enjoyed their second chance story. The side characters were great, and I will be checking out the rest of Little Tree Farm world.
Second chance, marriage in (serious) trouble, small town vibes, mothers asking everyone about situationships, Christmas time, amazing chemistry between MCs

Thanks to NetGalley, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and Zoe York for the ARC, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

I usually avoid the "marriage in trouble" trope, and books promoted as rom-coms rarely get an actual laugh out of me. Holidate Disaster managed to pull off both. Zoe York is an auto-buy author for me though and she literally 'had me' latest by the resonating dedication page.

This is a fast, atmospheric 250-page Canadian small-town romance that hits all the right winter and Christmas themes. The extended family dynamics carry The Family Stone vibes for me - welcoming, a bit chaotic in a good way, and heavily invested in weird and wonderful holiday traditions.

Some of my highlights:
- Tropes include Marriage in trouble/second chance, sunshine & grump, forced proximity, found family, and a 9-year age gap.
- The pacing is fast with open-door spice by chapter 2, followed by top-tier yearning and groveling and no 3rd act breakup as we meet our hero and heroine during a separation.
- Healthcare worker and ADHD representation.

Holidate Disaster is the second book in the Pine Harbour Little Tree Farm series, but it completely works as a standalone (though there are 14 other Pine Harbour books to explore if you get hooked).

I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas Rom Com and can totally recommend if you want something sexy and emotional that's also entertaining.

Thank you to Zoe York and NetGalley for allowing me to read a copy of this story ahead of publication date.

Before I get into the story, Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott are always a favorite narration duo of mine. This is performed in duet narration, which is an automatic win, and they brought a lot of warmth and chemistry to Cassie and Nate's story.

I've realized this year that some of my favorite romances are about married couples. They don't have to fall in love, they already did that. Instead, they get to rediscover each other, and honestly? That's become my favorite kind of romance.

Cassie and Nate have been separated for almost a year and seem to be headed toward divorce, but it's obvious neither of them has stopped loving the other.

I especially loved that the story digs into why their marriage started falling apart. Cassie is a little bit of chaos wrapped in Christmas lights, and I mean that as a compliment. The book discusses her ADHD and how it influences the way she approaches life, relationships, and even her business. Meanwhile, Nate starts recognizing that some of the things he viewed as flaws are simply part of who she is.

Nate also has baggage of his own. His difficult upbringing shaped how he communicates, handles emotions, and approaches relationships. Watching both of them realize how their individual struggles contributed to their separation added a layer of depth I wasn't expecting from a cozy holiday romance.

Now, would I find Nate quite as charming if this were real life? Probably not. Sir, your wife was not asking for much.

But in a romance novel? It worked.

What made this story shine for me was watching two people who already know each other so well choose to see each other again. People grow and change over time, and seeing Cassie and Nate rediscover the love that was buried underneath years of assumptions, hurt feelings, and missed communication was honestly chef's kiss.

Overall, it's cozy, festive, slightly spicy holiday romance filled with Christmas vibes, family chaos, second chances, and a couple trying to find their way back to each other before the holidays arrive. 🎄❤️

4.75 stars. This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a fast paced, sweet and steamy, small age gap, second chance, contemporary small town romance between Nate, the male ambulance pilot lead, and his estranged wife, Cassie, the female dog accessory designer lead. I adored the acknowledgment by Nate that his childhood trauma had directly impacted his interactions in their marriage. I enjoyed the mutual recognition that the initial attraction remained present between them. I enjoyed Cassie’s determination to succeed in her business venture, and to continue to build her identity separate from Nate. I enjoyed Nate’s recognition that he wanted a second chance, and his willingness to change to see it succeed. I enjoyed the steamy/spicy intimate scenes. I laughed at the awkward moments. I adored the supportive secondary cast of family and friends, with cameos from previous stories and potential hints for future stories. I enjoyed the happy ending and the mutually enjoyed “happy endings.”

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Okay, this put me straight into the holiday spirit.

Holidate was so addicting, I listened to the whole thing in one sitting and didn't want to pause it once. It's very light and easy to fall into, like a Hallmark movie in the best way, just hotter and messier. The narration was amazing too, it completely sold the chemistry and made the spicy scenes hit even harder lol.

My only note is the age gap. I don't love age gaps that much, so that part didn't quite work for me, but if you're into that, this is right up your alley.

You'll enjoy this if you love:

-second chance romance
-petty, messy characters
-sexy holiday stories

Thanks to NetGalley for the ALC! All opinions are my own

I love a good holiday read and throw in marriage reconcilliation? I am all in. Cassie and Nate are nearing their one year separation and can file for divorce at Christmas. Nate realizes that isn't what he wants, at all, and knows he needs to win her back. I really liked the growth that Nate and Cassie's characters experience because just wanting to be together isn't going to fix all their problems. Talking to friends and communication with one another leads them on the right path back to each other.
This was a spicy little novella and I loved how much they still wanted to be together and make things work, I just really wish they wouldn't have had such weird miscommunications about a date for Christmas. It was clear no one wanted that and they should have just talked a bit earlier.

LOVE duet narration. And these narrators were on point. I don’t recall hearing narrators Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross before; however they were awesome. This was a quick listen, which I think was good. I was underwhelmed in a few areas. Although this was a “second chance romance” there really wasn’t any second chance about it. They were just together. I also wanted more of the Holiday/Christmas vibe.

The characters were very developed for such a short story. Although this was fine as a short story, I did want to learn more about other characters from the previous book.

This was a just fine book. I’m glad I got to listen to great narrators. Thank you NetGalley for the listen!

This author (and all of her alter egos!) is an autobuy for me. She writes the very best small town, family centered series and this Little Tree Farm spin off is no different. I *love* the Marriage in Trouble trope and ate up every word of this book. If anything, I would have loved 100 more pages of Cassie and Nate's reconciliation. 😂

Zoe writes top notch spicy scenes and just enough of them so her books are hot with a plot. I loved the chapters we got in Nate's POV so we could feel the yearning along with him.

I'm looking forward to Jules & Ben next! You know their chemistry is going to be explosive!

The Holidate Diaster ALC Review

Sadly, I was really underwhelmed with this one. I loveeeddd the first book in this series, it was so funny. But I feel like this one might have missed the mark. I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Nate & Cassie. ☹️ Honestly, Cassie shouldn’t have even entertained taking him back….

I really enjoyed this one! I do love a good marriage in crisis romance, especially when you're rooting for the couple to get back together from the very beginning. And Nate and Cassie were definitely one of those couples! What I loved most was that, despite being separated for almost a year, it was obvious these two were still completely in love with each other. They might have been living separate lives, but emotionally? Neither of them had really moved on. I mean, Cassie opening her shop across the street from where Nate had moved, partly because she wanted him to see how successful she was without him?! GIRL! 😂 You don't do that if you genuinely don't care what someone thinks! And then there's Nate, accepting the invitation to Christmas Eve with her family and still helping them out as though nothing had changed. They were both finding ways to remain in each other's lives, even if neither wanted to admit it.
And the chemistry between them?! That certainly hadn't disappeared during their separation! But what I particularly loved was Nate's determination to win his wife back.
He knew he'd made mistakes during their marriage, especially when it came to understanding Cassie's needs and communicating his own feelings. And rather than expecting her to simply forgive him and come home, he actually put in the effort to change. I loved seeing him step outside his comfort zone, try new things and make an effort to understand what Cassie needed from him. Because he still loved his wife. He'd never stopped loving her. He just hadn't understood how to show that love in the way she needed. And I think that was such an important part of their story. Nate was learning to open up and communicate what he needed too, rather than keeping everything to himself and expecting Cassie to somehow understand. But Cassie also had to learn to listen to him. That was the thing with these two. They'd spent so much time arguing rather than actually talking to each other that neither was really hearing what the other person was trying to say. And once they started communicating properly, they both began to realise just how much of their separation could have been avoided if they'd had those conversations earlier. Almost an entire year apart because they couldn't communicate properly! It's frustrating, but I also think that's what made their reconciliation so satisfying. They weren't just getting back together because they missed each other or because the physical attraction was still there. They were actually working on the things that had caused their marriage to fall apart in the first place. And I LOVED that! I also enjoyed that their relationship wasn't suddenly perfect the moment they started reconnecting. They still had their moments of uncertainty, and there were plenty of occasions when they clearly wanted each other but were trying to convince themselves that getting involved again was a terrible idea. Which brings me to the spice! 😂

The spice:
The spice was HOT! Honestly, for a shorter holiday romance, Zoe York certainly didn't hold back! I loved how Nate and Cassie kept telling themselves they shouldn't be doing this. They'd end up together, decide it was a mistake, manage to stay away from each other for a little while, and then somehow find themselves tangled up together again! Every single time! But I loved that about them. Their physical chemistry was still very much there, even when they were struggling to figure out the emotional side of their relationship. The intimate scenes were really well written, and I particularly enjoyed how Nate's willingness to try new things carried over into that side of their marriage too. What I appreciated most was the balance. This was a relatively short, fast-paced story, but I never felt like the spice was taking away from the actual romance. There was plenty of heat, but we still got to see Nate and Cassie working through their problems and rebuilding their relationship.

The audio:
The audio was fantastic! Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross were both completely new narrators for me, and I was really impressed! I love discovering new voices, especially when they do such a good job bringing the characters to life. I really enjoyed how they portrayed Nate and Cassie, particularly during the moments when their frustration with each other was hiding how much they still cared. There was a good balance between the humour, the more emotional conversations and the intimate moments. And the duet narration worked really well for their relationship. I thought both narrators did a brilliant job, and I'd definitely be happy to listen to more from them in the future!

Overall:
A short, sweet and spicy holiday romance that I thoroughly enjoyed! I loved Nate and Cassie's story, especially because it was so obvious that neither had stopped loving the other despite spending almost a year apart. Nate's determination to win his wife back was one of my favourite things about the book. I loved that he was willing to step outside his comfort zone, try new things and actually work on becoming a better partner. And I appreciated that Cassie had her own part to play in their reconciliation too. Their biggest problem was communication, and I loved watching them finally learn to talk to each other instead of arguing. The story was fast-paced and on the shorter side, but I thought the balance between the romance, emotional development and spice was really good. The intimate scenes were hot, the narration was fantastic, and I was particularly impressed with Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross, who were both new narrators for me. And of course, I love a happy ending when it comes to marriage in crisis romances! Especially when I've been rooting for the couple from the very beginning.
A great little holiday romance with plenty of chemistry, a couple who clearly belong together and a very satisfying second chance at love! 🩷🎄

ARC copy - My first holiday-themed book of the season could not have been better timed.

If you're the type of reader who enjoys the deep, raw feels, coinciding with a cute, lighthearted Xmas story, Zoe York brings out the big guns. (get your tissues ready) The Holidate Disaster is full of tears, laughter, and some wicked feral spice.

*and try not to pee yourself because there is a REALLY great LMFAO moment

Nate - he wears regret and misery like no one else in Pine Harbor and it's flipping gut-wrenching. But you can't help but root for this man because he believes in love and has never stopped wanting his wife.
Cassie - middle child syndrome, along with a sweet, bubbly personality, and some severe ADHD. She's proving to herself and the world that she can grow and mature with every spiteful endeavour.

Zoe York has a secret way that I can't seem to figure out, even though it's all right here on the page. She makes her characters burrow into your heart and your brain and then digs those claws so freaking deep it's impossible to shake them loose.

*Okay, back to our story...

Nothing says "waiting until the last minutes of the year" like this. Procrastination is not always a good thing. Nate realises he has a month to get back the most important person to ever grace his life. His wife. Christmas Eve marks a year of separation, and she can officially file for divorce. And fate plays the perfect reuniter with Cassie's new shop opening directly across the street from Nate's apartment. Now is the time to win her back. Watching him peel all his mistakes back, shedding and trying to learn from his past. Looking at the past six years and especially last year, with new eyes.

And, oof, does he have some yummy things to say along with some spicy actions. And while he's doing that, Cassie is realising that maybe Nate did see her; he just held back. But navigating the end of her marriage gets confusing, because she can't seem to quit her Ex, because, dammit, love is hard.

Enter Mama Minelli, inviting Nate to Christmas Eve dinner. And Cassie is making the mistake of saying stuff when she's upset. She's bringing a date. And yes, how about you bring someone, too?

Famous last actions and assumptions. Jealousy and 'We can't do this again' make-out sessions and (clears throat) other stuff keep these two on a roller coaster. Hence, all the random tears and tissues.

For me, the sweetest advice came from Garret (because that man has experience in making up for mistakes)

"Find a way to sit in the fire with Cassie. Whatever she's mad about, let her be mad about it with you. Make it clear that you want to hear her anger, and make it right."

The dialogue is spot on and flows naturally. Imagery is the perfect blend of giving the reader the bones to build up their perfect picture.

There is palpable, fantastic chemistry between them. The Minelli family, seeing so many familiar faces drop in, is like a homecoming. Super enjoyed seeing Garret and Rory so prominently. Carmen and Dante, how can you not appreciate parents who can see that their daughter and soon-to-be ex-son-in-law just need a good, hearty sit-down to just flipping TALK? The obvious set-up for the next Little Tree Farm book is fun.

For fans who love emotional depth in characters and a small-town backdrop that tells the perfect love story, The Holidate Disaster is for you, and you, and you over there. You'll finish this with nothing but warm fuzzies on your brain and in your heart.

If you’re looking for a quick, cozy (but spicy!) second-chance romance with a festive setting, this one is definitely worth picking up.
Nate and Cassie have been separated for almost a year, but honestly, it was obvious from the start that neither of them had really moved on. I mean, Cassie opened her shop right across the street from where Nate was living, partly because she wanted him to see how well she was doing without him. 😂 And Nate was still showing up for Christmas Eve with her family and helping them out like nothing had changed. These two were clearly still finding excuses to be in each other’s lives, even if neither of them wanted to admit it!
And the chemistry between them? Yeah, that definitely hadn't gone anywhere🔥
One of my favourite things about this book was Nate's determination to win his wife back. He knew he'd made mistakes during their marriage, and I loved that he was actually willing to put in the effort to make things right. Seeing him step outside his comfort zone, try new things and make a genuine effort to understand Cassie was really sweet. It was so clear that he'd never stopped loving her, and I couldn't help but root for them.
But my goodness, the communication between these two.
I'm not a huge fan of miscommunication in romance, and this was probably my biggest frustration with the story. Nate and Cassie had spent so much time arguing rather than actually listening to each other that I genuinely wondered at one point how they'd managed five years of marriage! So many of their problems could have been avoided if they'd just sat down and had honest conversations. Almost a whole year apart because neither of them could properly communicate what they needed, It drove me a little mad!
That being said, I did appreciate that the blame wasn't all placed on Nate. Cassie had things she needed to work on too, and I liked that they both had to acknowledge where they'd gone wrong. Their relationship wasn't magically fixed just because they still loved each other (and clearly still fancied each other). They actually had to put in the work, learn to listen and figure out how to move forward together. I also liked that there was still some hesitation and uncertainty along the way, because getting back together after everything they'd been through was never going to be quite that simple.
My only other issue was that I really wanted a bit more backstory. We heard plenty about what went wrong in their marriage, but I would have loved to see more of the good times too. Give me some of the sweet with the sour! I wanted to understand more about what made them fall in love in the first place outside of that first night and what those five years together had looked like before everything started falling apart. I think that would have made their reconciliation even sweeter.
Still, despite wanting a little more depth in places and occasionally wanting to shake some sense into both of them, I really enjoyed this one. It's a short, sweet and spicy holiday romance, and I loved seeing Nate and Cassie slowly find their way back to each other.
And I have to give a shoutout to the audiobook because the narration was fantastic! 🎧 Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did such a good job bringing the characters to life, and the spicy scenes? Let's just say they definitely delivered on those.
Overall, a fun, festive second-chance romance with plenty of chemistry, a little frustration and a whole lot of love. If you enjoy marriage-in-trouble romances, a husband determined to win his wife back and characters who desperately need to learn how to use their words, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a go.

For some reason, I went into this book expecting a lighthearted, funny holiday romance. Looking back at the description, I'm not entirely sure why I expected a rom-com, because it certainly wasn't advertised as one! Instead, I found a more serious story about relationships, personal growth, and how people change over time. There's nothing wrong with that, of course. It just wasn't quite what I had in mind.

For starters, I'm still not 100% sure why Cassie and Nate broke up. From what I could gather, Nate was too serious and Cassie was too spontaneous, but I felt there had to be more to it than that.

It was pretty obvious that neither one really wanted to be apart. Yet, from what I understood, Nate suggested they separate, Cassie left, and that was that. I kept wondering why they hadn't actually sat down and talked about what was going wrong in their marriage. Did they ever consider counseling? Did either of them really try to work things out before separating? Their communication was so poor that I found myself getting frustrated with both of them.

I also got the impression that Nate was searching for something he couldn't quite put his finger on, while Cassie seemed to be romanticizing their relationship. Considering that Nate was older and Cassie was less experienced when they met, I wondered whether she had really had the opportunity to figure out who she was before their marriage.

Another thing that bothered me was feeling like I was missing pieces of their stories. Nate clearly had some issues from his past that seemed to affect his marriage, but I never felt those issues were fully explained. I had similar questions about Cassie. Her family kept describing her as carefree, spontaneous, and someone who started things but never finished them. I couldn't help wondering whether hearing that over and over had convinced her that this was simply who she was. Or was it more about her self-esteem? I would have liked to see a little more exploration of what made both of these characters tick.

I also have to say that I found Cassie and Nate a little immature at times, especially when it came to dealing with their problems and communicating.

One thing these two definitely had going for them was chemistry! No matter what was happening in their relationship, their physical attraction was never in doubt. Thankfully, they eventually started having some much-needed conversations, working through their differences, and finding their way back to each other. I was happy to see them finally get their happily ever after.

I really enjoyed the duet narration. I thought it was very well done, and the narrators did a great job of bringing Cassie and Nate's personalities to life.

While this wasn't quite the holiday romance I was expecting, I can certainly see how other readers might enjoy it exactly as it is. We all connect with stories and characters differently, and that's part of what makes reading so enjoyable.

I'm also curious to see how things play out between Jules and Ben. It will be interesting to find out what's going on with those two! Rating: 3.5 Stars

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

📖 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿: Readers who enjoy steamy second-chance romance, age-gap relationships, ADHD representation and cosy Christmas small-town settings.

Well, I managed to request the wrong series with this one! I thought I knew the universe I was stepping into, only to discover I'd wandered somewhere entirely different. But as it turned out, it was a rather happy accident. This was my first visit to Pine Harbour, and I never once felt as though I'd missed out by not having read the previous book. The story welcomes new readers in beautifully, without leaving you wondering what on earth everyone is talking about.

I did have a couple of moments where I nearly put this one down, though. The age gap initially made me rather hesitant, and some of the early emphasis on Cassie's innocence didn't sit particularly well with me either. Those are personal stumbling blocks, and they did take a little of the shine off the romance. But I'm glad I stayed, because I ended up enjoying Cassie and Nate's journey back to each other far more than I expected. What I liked most was that this wasn't simply about falling into each other's arms and pretending the past never happened. There were old wounds to heal and accountability to take, and a little attraction wasn't going to make everything magically disappear.

Cassie was a particular delight. I loved how comfortable she seemed in her own skin, including all those ADHD moments, without feeling the need to explain or defend who she was. She was happy being herself, and I rather liked that. Even with her feelings for Nate still very much alive, she wasn't going to let passion do all the talking. Wanting someone didn't mean everything was suddenly forgiven, and I appreciated that she stood up for herself.

Add in Christmas festivities, some wonderfully silly games, a small-town setting where everyone seems to know everyone's business, and plenty of steamy moments, and you have a rather charming holiday read. I probably would have absolutely adored this one if it hadn't been for those initial reservations, but four stars is still a very happy place to land!

✨ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱:
• Cassie's personality, ADHD moments and self-acceptance.
• A second-chance romance that makes room for healing and accountability.
• The Christmas atmosphere, silly games and lovely small-town setting.

🌧️ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱:
• The age-gap element wasn't quite my cup of tea.
• Some of the references to Cassie's innocence made me uncomfortable.
• A couple of early moments nearly had me putting the book down.

🎙️ 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life. Their voices suited the characters beautifully and complemented each other so well. The narration had such a natural flow, and I never felt the need to speed things up or found myself distracted by an awkward delivery. They simply melted into their roles, making this a thoroughly lovely listening experience.

Another great story from Zoe York!! Thanks to Zoe York for the audio and ebook, this is my honest opinion.

Let's start with the audiobook ! Kai Kennicott, and Wen Ross were fantastic at bringing Nate and Cassie to live. I loved how this book was narrated with dual POV and dual dialogue in each chapter. Having a female and male voices bringinng all the characters to live, respectively made this book so enjoyable as it felt interactive and that much more real. Kai was amazing at bringing Cassie's change in mood and feelings as the story progress. I just loved how she added so much personality. Then Wen just shined at going from tortured to broody to tormented and all the range of feral for his wife, I loved how he is able to bring so much into a character (I might have listened to a few of his book narrations) , Just the perfect companion to the book, and my morning work routine.

Now for the story. Zoe York brings a marriage in crisis in time for the holidays. Cassie and Nate are deeply in love, they just have lost their way to each other. Their age gap, their respective family history, his fears are part of what has set them apart, though it is miscommunication that has kept them away from each other.

Cassie was young when she fell for Nate, he has been her one and only everything. But their whirlwind romance started with a boom that fizzle due to his insecurities and fears which caused her to doubt her worth, and made her feel that she was too much, too flighty, too loud, too sassy, and not enough to keep him with her.

Nate's family history has left him feeling homeless and with no sense of belonging. He found a family when he married Cassie though he was never taught the basics of a relationship, and when he felt that he was not enough for her (stumping her growth as a person) he decided to leave -add to it his hours as a helicopter pilot-. However he is very in love with his wife and every interaction with her brings on passion instead of communication.

Now all that changes when he is invited by her mom to spend Christmas with them. What follows is a series of moments, conversations, incidents that bring them closer. Be ready for him to get feral and claim his spot once again. The humor on this book is excellent, the passion scorching hot, the heart soft and beautiful

Just loved it!!

Pine Harbour Little Tree Farm: Nate & Cassie

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Christmas chaos, family mayhem, and enough miscommunication to make you want to reach into the book and shake some sense into these two!

Cassie and Nate broke up on Christmas Eve (In Rory’s book), and Cassie says no second chances….
Cue… make-out sessions that aren't enough to change her mind? Or are they…?

I loved watching these two fumble their way through their feelings, although there were definitely moments when I wanted to bang their heads together and tell them to JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER! The miscommunication was strong with these two, and the whole business of inventing dates for Christmas dinner was absolute chaos!

And then we have the Minelli family, adding their own special brand of mayhem to the festivities. Because apparently, Christmas isn't stressful enough without exes, fake dates, unresolved feelings, and family getting involved in everyone's business!

Underneath all the humour and holiday madness, though, there's a more emotional story about two people who still love each other but need to figure out how to make things work. Nate especially had me feeling all sorts of things. He's emotionally unavailable, yes, but watching him realise what he wants and try to show Cassie that he's willing to be more for her was lovely. He doesn't want anyone else, and it's clear that he wants to prove he's capable of giving her the relationship she deserves.

I really enjoyed the balance of funny moments, family drama, and second-chance romance. It was entertaining watching them both stumble around their feelings, even if I occasionally wanted to give them a good shake!
And can we talk about that little peek at the characters of the next book?! Zoe, you can't just drop those little teasers and expect me to be patient!

Overall, this was a fun, chaotic, and entertaining Christmas romance with plenty of laughs, family shenanigans, and two people who really need to learn how to communicate. If you love second-chance romance with festive chaos and a healthy dose of romantic frustration, this is a great holiday read!
Bring on the next one!

I received this as an early reader, and this review is voluntary.

This was a ALC from net galley

Cassie and Nate decided almost a year ago, Christmas to be exact to end their marriage. Cassie was whimsy young woman, and a bit of a mess. Nate, an older man already had his career established as a helicopter pilot and lived life with seriousness and control. The things they indulged in each other in the beginning is what separated them at the end. Now 11 months later a random spicy session happened between the two. In the true nature of the loving and nosy Mineli family, Cassie's mother decides to invite Nate to their Christmas farm for Christmas dinner. Without thinking Cassie blurs out that she will be bringing a date and the fun begins. Sparks ignite and will it burn down or bring them back to each other?

I like the small town, family, and the Christmas vibes. Felt like a hallmark movie but Tessa Bailey twist. Cassie was fun but bit of a mess. I liked that she tries to prove to everyone that she could run her own business and is capable of taking care of herself. Loved Nate's attempt to prove he is worthy of a second chance. The little details to make her happy were lovely. The family was funny and had me laughing at the end. This is a quick read or audiobook that will have you blushing and feeling the magic of Christmas. I listen to the audiobook and the male voice actor Wen Ross was perfect. He brought Nate's character to life and the huskiness in his voice made the scenes so good.

Now the spicy scenes are very explicit, there is no euphemism whatsoever. It was fun for what it is but that's about it. There wasn't much of a buildup, so I wasn't at the edge of my seat when these moments happened because of how quick it was. Also felt like there was no real reason for the separation or it wasn't in explain in depth. Wish I would of learn more about Nate's upbringing to understand him more. Maybe that would have added more emotion to the relationship. There is an age gap but again I wish we could have seen more of the reasons how that contributed to the end of their marriage. All I got on that was she was "innocent".

I still think all the romance girls are going to enjoy it and perfect for Christmas.

You NEED this second chance Christmas romance in your life! 🎄❤️

Cassie is handling her business. Opening her dog bowtie shop right across from her soon-to-be ex-husband's apartment may be only slightly awkward, but at least he can see how well she's doing all by herself. Nate has spent the last 11 months trying to get over his wife, but the fact is, he doesn't want to. When he's invited to her family's Christmas tree farm for Christmas Eve dinner and told to bring a date, things might get complicated.

Maybe it's my 21 years of marriage talking, but I'm loving these second chance romances lately. Even though Cassie and Nate have been separated for 11 months, there's still SO much chemistry, and they both know they love each other, they just have to work on some things, on themselves, and see each other for who they truly are. 🥹

I love how Cassie is so about her business - making dog bows, hauling boxes, doing her ornaments - but she still can't deny her feelings. And Nate is just so endearing, even when he's not trying to be. He just can't help himself. 🥰

I will admit the Christmas Eve games were giving me anxiety - there were so many crazy micro-rules that I knew if I were there I might be crashing out, haha. But they were cute to read about and I'm glad all of the characters had a good time! The whole family is so fun, and I'll need to go back and read book 1 so I can get the whole scope of the series. And be ready for the next one, because I'm loving this series!

Expect:
💔➡️❤️ Second chance romance
✨ Age gap
🎄 Christmas shenanigans
💍 Marriage in crisis
😘 Exes that can't stop kissing
☀️🌙 Opposites attract

I was lucky enough to do an immersive ARC read for this one, and I highly recommend it! 🎧 Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did a FABULOUS job narrating this duet-style. I was fully engaged the whole time!

I highly recommend this fun, spicy, Christmas romance - I finished it within a day! 🔥📖

Tropes: Marriage in trouble / Second chance, Sunshine & Grump, Forced proximity, Found family, Age gap, Miscommunication

The miscommunication trope was working hard here!
I started The Holidate Disaster and honestly thought I had missed or forgotten something major from the first book (The Ex-mas Breakup ). They have one fight, throw out a "we should break up," and Cassie literally walks out—leading to months of radio silence while they both pine after each other and mourn a marriage neither actually wanted to end.

However, as the story unfolds, Zoe York gives great insight into the individual frustrations and built-up tension that caused that explosive breaking point.

What I Loved:
💍Instant Chemistry & Spice: The rekindled flame and spice happen early—around Chapter 2—and I definitely wasn't mad about it.
💍The Yearning & Grovelling: Nate’s yearning and grovelling were absolute perfection.
💍Character Growth: Both leads underwent genuine individual growth during their separation. Bonus points for zero drama with outside love interests—just one very helpful, meddling mum!
💍Family Dynamic: The wider family brings some truly hilarious moments that made the Christmas Eve plotline a joy to read.

What I Wanted More Of:
Given their own history with miscommunication and feelings of inadequacy, I would have loved to see a bit more meaningful input or advice from Rory and Garrett from Book 1.

🎧Audiobook Thoughts:
The duet narration was *chef’s kiss*. The pacing and editing were solid overall. I noticed a few minor moments where the volume levels seemed slightly mismatched between tracks/ narrators, but it wasn't enough to distract from the story.

A super solid 4-star listen!

Last year on Christmas Eve, Cassie’s husband told her she was too much, and that was the end of the marriage, or so she thought. Now, 11 months later, she’s proving to herself that she doesn’t need a man to support her, and opening her new shop downtown, it just happens to be right across from his apartment. When his offer to help results in an impromptu makeout session in a storage room, she tells herself that was a one-off, but when her mom invites him over for Christmas dinner, it starts a chain of events that results in her telling him she’s bringing a date.

Nate has been in love with Cassie since the moment they met, but their age gap and her innocence have always forced him to hold himself back. While he was calm and steady, she was dreams and chaos, and as much as he loved every part of her, he forgot to show it, which is how he lost her. When it’s clear the chemistry between them still burns as hotly as before, he tells himself she might give him another chance, but when she tells him she has a date for Christmas, he realizes he might lose her forever if he doesn’t do something drastic.

I was lucky enough to be able to do an early immersive read of this book thanks to the author, @Netgalley and @booksprout and absolutely loved it! Having read the first book last year, I had always wondered about the demise of Cassie and Nate’s relationship, and this one gave us an up close and personal look at everything that went wrong (and right) between them. What struck me most from the first page is how clearly Nate and Cassie still loved each other, and how much they were suffering being apart, but I also loved that Cassie was determined to make it on her own. Their every encounter is filled with angst as they both think of what they’ve lost, and I hate that Nate held himself back for so long with Cassie, and it ended up being what pushed her away in the end. I loved that when he finally realized he could lose her forever, Nathan was able to open up about everything, showing Cassie a different side of himself, and allowing them to rebuild something real, without holding anything back.

Zoe York Has Officially Made My Instant Read/Listen List! 🎄🔥

⭐ Overall: 4/5
🎧 Audiobook: 4.5/5
🌶️ Spice: 1.5/5 Experienced | 3/5 New

Thank you to ZoYo Press, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, and NetGalley for the advance ebook and audiobook copies!

Zoe York has officially moved to my instant read/listen list! I don’t always love second-chance romances, but this one was done well. From the start, you could tell there was love behind Nate and Cassie’s actions, not just lust. Nate’s growth is what I live for in romance. He held back because she was inexperienced, and neither of them really said out loud what they wanted. By the end, they were finally making their wants and needs known. Sex was one way they showed each other love, but it was so much deeper than that.

My biggest issue was the one-sided blame. I felt like Nate still took the brunt of the fault, even though Cassie admitted she was young and maybe not ready for everything their relationship involved. I don’t think she took nearly enough accountability, and I’m not sure the author saw fault with her. I could just be sensitive to it, but it’s one of the reasons this book got four stars.

This book absolutely delivers the Christmas feeling! I listened on November 1st and wanted to get my Christmas decorations out. It sets the mood so well, and there’s some genuine humor, too. The naked booty scene had me cackling! The duet performance was delivered well, and Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross pair well together. The MMC narrator knows what to do with his voice, although sometimes the FMC’s voice sounded more masculine than I wanted.

🎄 Who Should Read or Listen?

If you enjoy short Christmas romances, duet audiobooks, and an MMC narrator who knows what to do with his voice, this is worth picking up! It’s also extremely accessible without having read or listened to the first book.

Would Recommend: YES! And now I need Jules and Ben’s story. BUT WHEN LOL.

I reread the first story in this series, The Ex-mas Breakup, just to refresh my mind about Cassie, the female MC, and how she and her husband Nate were perceived by the family. This book takes up almost one year later, when Nate and Cassie have been separated the year required before they can file for divorce. Apparently Nate made a statement to Cassie that she was "too much". And she ran with that, not bothering to talk, ask what he meant, or even fight. She shut down, cried on her sisters' shoulders and refused to talk about it with them or with Nate. He has always been closed off, even after acting much more spontaneous and folling in instalove the first time they met.

During their year apart, they have managed to absolutely not talk about it or even talk period, even though they live in a smll town--until she opens a shop directly across from his small apartment. They have basically spent the year longing for each other, yet having ignored their own feelings, neer talking to anyone about those feelings, much less each other. And then,as the day the divorce documents can be made final, Nate realizes he is going to have to actually clarify his feelings, first to himself, and then to his wife. And then he is going to have to find out if she feels the same. Because he really doesn't know. The book is told from dual POV, and sometimes I wanted to smack both of them up the side of the head. But I had the advantage of both of their thoughts. If I pretended they were real people, I could still get frustrated, but realize people are how they are and I can't force them t change--but Cassie' mother should could try, and her interference has definite consequences! I really enjoy the Pine Harbour world that Zoe has created and enjoy these Christmas novella offshoots. I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.

This is an ARC review. I want to thank Zoe York and ARC provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op | ZoYo Press for allowing me the chance to read this book ahead of release day! I don’t usually do second chance romances but something about two married people going back after trials and tribulations I think is the most relatable second chance anyone who is married can understand. It truly proves love can conquer all.
4.5⭐️ Cassie & Nate
Well the tension from the start of this book set the tone! These two fight hard but it does seem like it comes from a place of love with a lack of communication skills. I loved Nate’s relentless notion that he loves his wife and after realizing he was about to be too late, he put in the effort to meet his wife where she is right now.
Cass’ family….i am still obsessed with! Especially her mom. She is literally a hoot and a half. I wish I was apart of the friends and family as I would not ever stop laughing being in their house.
Pine Harbour as a town overall sounds like one big family. Technically it felt like everyone was related to Cassie but still! Christmas Eve Last Minute Market specifically sounds amazing! So glad Cassie was able to grow into herself and sell her products she has a true passion about to her neighbors and was received so well!
Jules and Ben are up next and ooooh I am loving watching each sister go down to love or at least reestablished love!
If you get the chance…GET THE AUDIOBOOK! Totally worth it! Loved the duet style narration and while these were not my go to narrators…they easily just became ones I will seek out!

There's something incredibly refreshing about a romance that allows its characters to be messy.
Cassie and Nate have been separated for a year, but neither has truly moved on. They're still in love, still carrying the hurt from things said in anger, and still unwilling to have the conversations that might actually fix things. Their relationship isn't neat or simple, but that's exactly what made it feel authentic.
One of my favorite aspects of the book was Nate's character arc. He spends a lot of time recognizing where things went wrong internally, but growth requires more than self-awareness. I loved watching him slowly learn to take accountability and make changes.
Cassie's journey was equally interesting. In the year her and Nate were apart she opens a new business and works toward building stability and confidence in her life. She's determined, resilient, and trying to move forward, even when her feelings for Nate haven't fully disappeared.
Add in a Christmas setting, family chaos, a second-chance romance and I was completely hooked.
The audiobook elevated an already enjoyable story. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross delivered wonderful performances that brought both Cassie and Nate to life. They captured the emotional tension, lingering love, humor, and vulnerability of the characters beautifully. Their narration made it easy to connect with both perspectives and added depth to the emotional journey of the story. Together, they created an engaging listening experience that complemented the warmth and charm of the novel.
This was a quick, funny, heartwarming read filled with emotional growth and plenty of holiday charm.
Looking forward to Jules and Ben's book!

'Tis the season for a horny for your ex at a Christmas Tree Farm in snowy Canada romance! I will never say no.

I will also never say no to a Pine Harbour book, I've been reading them since 2019. And the Pine Harbour Little Tree Farm books are among my favs because they bring the heat, and in such a fun way!

Nate is a helicopter ambulance pilot, and his younger soon-to-be-ex-wife Cassie is opening a brick and mortar for her successful doggie accessory business right across from his apartment. This plot in this will totally appeal to historical romance readers who love a "wife is pure, must restrain myself" plot line. A marriage in trouble contemporary can be so tricky, but this one worked well thanks to the age gap of it all - and they actually talk it out! A true romance miracle. But they also don't do something crazy like keep their pants on while waiting to resolve things.

I really enjoyed the narration by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross, and we are spoiled with duet narration (where each narrator does all the parts for their character). And at under six listening hours, The Holidate Disaster hit all the romance plot points, while still giving us a peek at past and upcoming couples.

A high heat little treat that should absolutely be on your Christmas tbr! And yes, this is part of the Pine Harbour universe but you don't need to have read any of the previous books, completionists I promise you it's ok to go back to the start afterwards! But there will be spoilers for The Ex-Mas Breakup (and that may be my fav Zoe York ever) so I would recommend reading that one first.

Thank you to Zoe York for an ALC and eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

This is the second book in the series and I love it even more than the first one and that's saying something.
The couple in this one is Cassie and Nate. Soon to be ex's. Nate broke her heart a year ago on Christmas eve and has regretted it ever since. He moves out of their home and moves into town. The problem with that is she starts her new business right across the street from him. He sees her and goes to see her in her shop. Doesn't go as planned and it's interrupt by her best friend Ben. They can't seem to get each other off their minds. They still love each other but feelings have been hurt.
Was wonderful getting some many updates of some of our favourite Pine Harbour couples.
Cassie's mum invites Nate is Christmas eve and things go sideways from there. Nate wants to get something very special for Cassie to prove that he has changed and wants her back. She tells him she is bring a date it almost kills him. She tells to bring someone too but he doesn't want too
On Christmas eve when all together Jules comes up with some weird and wonderful and funny games. Afterwards power goes out and Cassie and Nate go to find candles but end up talking and Nate tells her everything about his feelings.
He lives but she goes after him to talk more..... maybe even more. On Christmas morning Nate shows up to there family tree farm for Christmas and wants to show Cassie he is be flirtly and silly.. The scene is the garage is priceless. lol
After a long time for talking and others things they get their HEA they deserve.
