In the days before search engines and social networks, what lengths would you go to, to find the love you lost?
Fish and chips on the pier. Art. Music. Moonlit walks along the beach. For the busker and the art student it's the perfect summer romance. Until it ends suddenly, with a savage thunderstorm.
A heartbroken Georgia thinks she'll never see Tom again. But Tom doesn't give up easily and months later they find each other, in the most unexpected place.
Suzanne lives in Sydney with her husband and children. By day she works in an office where she quietly scribbles plot ideas on yellow sticky notes and hopes they don't accidentally end up on the departmental monthly report. Through some incredible good fortune, some of those sticky notes have turned into her first novel, Over the Edge, and a novella, Starcrossed.

I loved this! It's a short story, but there's nothing missing here. It's a mystery, a romance, there's a bit of angst, and then we have a conclusion that's very satisfying.
Georgia's daughter has to write a story about time before the internet...a time before search engines and social media. I laughed when she asked her mother if she had been alive then. Georgia then tells her a story about a search without our modern technology to help. A search that takes months, not just a few keystrokes.
Just like her daughter, I was drawn into the story. I wanted these two starcrossed young people to find each other again. Then I wondered if they would find that HEA that we all search for. I was on the edge of my seat, right there with Sophie, as we waited to hear more of the story.
Some short stories seem to be a prelude to a bigger novel. That's not the case here. We have a lovely beginning, a great middle...and a fulfilling end. If this is your first taste of a Suzanne Carroll story, I'm pretty sure it will make you want to read more! And, thankfully, she has more to read. Definitely a FIVE BOOKMARK rating from me!
Thank you, WDA Publishing and Suzanne Carroll, for the opportunity to read this book.

As with all her books, Suzanne Carroll draws you in with her beautiful, vivid descriptions, wonderful passages, and takes you on a journey you really never want to end. Bravo!
I received the book from the publisher for an honest review.
What an amazing love story! From the beginning you are swept away into the story, as told from Georgia's point of view, to her seventeen year old daughter, Sophie. A gripping tale of two young people that had met long before Internet or Facebook were in the picture. Sophie had an essay to write, a essay about life before Internet, and because she had no idea what that was, she asked her forty three year old mother. Together we hanged on Georgia's every word as the story unfolds of this couple; the heart ache when they realized they will not see each other again. The frantic search and how circumstances kept them apart. From the start you knew these two had a connection, that they were soul mates and you could feel the yearning, the loss and the desperation while seeking a lost love. A wonderful story that will keep you leafing the pages, wondering if they ever made it. The plot was wrapped in mystery and caused some tense moments, with a absent father that tried to control his son; doing his best to put more distance between them. TJ's character out shined the most. His behavior towards Georgia, protecting her and finally finding her, takes your breath away and like a teenage girl you giggled with Georgia. It just happens...smile. A classical love story of hope, dreams and the fulfillment of everlasting happiness. The author's skillful writing could be seen throughout the pages; drawing you in and keeping your attention as you relive the story with her. I really loved the relationship between Georgia and Tom. The absolute yearning to be together, doing the simplest things in the most beautiful way, allowing each to fulfill their dreams, while remaining deeply in love. Really an excellent read.
I can just imagine Sophie sitting at the kitchen-counter impatiently waiting for her mother to finish the story – I know I would have been impatient. The pages are filled with anticipation and it has made me realize just how much we rely on technology and social media these days. It was a light and pleasant read. Thank you for allowing me to review the book.
loved this short and sweet story had a little mystery to it and captured the excitement of that first crush really well as with all great short stories, I was sad that it was so short and wanted more (aka the great catch-22 of short stories)
