She wrote the rules of love. He’s about to make her break every one.
Demi Blake never asked to be the daughter of Eros, god of love. She’d rather hide behind her black muumuu and bureaucratic rulebook than embrace her divine destiny. As director of the Bureau of Affectional Affairs, she’s made it her mission to regulate mortal relationships with ruthless precision—and with zero tolerance for cinematic romance tropes.
But her father and great‑grandfather, Zeus, think it’s high time she fell in love herself—and used her divine gifts for good. Their solution? A quest. Demi must join the cast of Love Unscripted. The dating show—hosted by Roman Archer, son of Cupid, single dad, and walking violation of everything she stands for—is a glittery nightmare of grand gestures, slow‑motion kisses, and love at first sight. And now she’s contractually obligated to be its reluctant star.
To make matters worse, she and Roman share a complicated past. They loathe each other—or at least they pretend to. Because deep down, Demi knows the truth her goddess side whispered to her years Roman isn’t just her rival. He’s her soulmate. Her fated match.
As the cameras roll and the gods meddle from above, Demi begins to realize the biggest threat isn’t public humiliation—it’s the possibility that Roman might actually be worth falling for.
Will Roman recognize that he’s held the key to Demi’s heart all along, or will fate’s cruel timing tear them apart once more?
Witty, swoony, and full of divine mischief, A Demigoddess’s Guide to Love is a romantic comedy for anyone who’s ever rolled their eyes at a love montage—only to fall headfirst into one.
Jennifer Peel is the mother of three amazing kiddos. Wife to her one and only for the past twenty-two years. Lover of late night talks, beach vacations, the mountains, pink bubble gum ice cream, tours of model homes, and southern living. She can frequently be found with her laptop on, fingers typing away, indulging in chocolate milk, and writing out the stories that are constantly swirling through her head.
Words cannot begin to describe how much I loved reading this book. I felt all the emotions. The dual POV was perfection! And yes, I laughed until I cried, and I cried because of the vulnerability and goodness of these characters! This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster...in all the good ways. Jennifer Peel has an incredible talent of creating characters that you will connect with and see their struggles and feel their hopes and dreams, and you will be cheering for them to have their happily ever after. I love when I pick up a book that takes me on that emotional rollercoaster and I know that any book by this author will definitely have me boarding that ride! And I am all in!!!
If I could rate this more than 5 stars I would definitely be giving it a lot more and two big ol' thumbs up!!! And let me tell you that THIS book would make the most incredible movie!!! Holy Moly!!! I would watch it over and over again! And it will definitely be a reread for me!
I just want to tell you alllll the things about it and get you so excited to read it and talk to everyone about it and see what you all loved and how happy it makes you. And maybe, like me, you'll shed a few tears too!
This book is pure magical joy and hope, sprinkled with lots of cuteness and love!!! I have scenes from the book playing on repeat in my mind! Get ready to smile mindlessly at your book/kindle/however you read it! You're going to love all of the secondary characters as well! Especially Cassie! Hee hee! She's an awesome best friend! I'm hoping really hard right now that we'll get her story as well! It's going to be a doozy!!! *Grinning with fingers crossed!*
The chemistry and sweet romantic tension is through the roof! These two are undeniably meant for each other. The pull and just adorableness of them toward each other had me grinning so big! *Happy Sigh* I have more than loved every book by this author, but this one honestly is one of her best works yet!!! And I don't say that lightly! She's an incredible author and nailed this one!
I hope you enjoy it if you pick up a copy! Cupid and the Demigoddess of love might just capture your heart this year!!!
Content: Kissing only, some mild swearwords scattered throughout and a substitute swear for one of the gods. Some mild innuendos. I'd consider this a clean PG-13 level read.
I received a copy from the author but have also purchased my own copy. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
In the words of Demi Blake, Oh. My. Titans. Meet Demi Blake, the reluctant daughter of Eros who prefers policy manuals over passion. As the tightly wound director of the Bureau of Affectional Affairs, Demi is determined to regulate love into something tidy, logical, and completely devoid of grand gestures. She has a coffee mug that says, "This is my happy face." Her father and great‑grandfather, Zeus, have other plans. On paper, combining Greek gods, modern bureaucracy, and a reality dating show sounds delightfully unhinged, and I’ll admit I wasn’t sure how it would work. But—oh ye of little faith—I forgot, just for a moment, what an amazing author Jennifer Peel is. I hope she can forgive my temporary lapse and judging her idea prematurely.
Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and the tension between Demi and Roman Archer was everything I could have wanted. Roman, son of Cupid, is a walking, talking rom-com hero and is everything Demi claims to despise. This makes their shared past and fated soulmate bond all the more delicious. Their banter is fun, their history actually matters, and the reality-TV setting adds just the right amount of chaos. The author balances humor with heart, and I loved watching Demi's journey.
Things I loved: the dual point of view, tossing pebbles on windows, all the banter, Roman with Junie (his daughter), and Cassie (Demi's bestie). I really need Cassie's story!! This would make a great series!
A Demigoddess’s Guide to Love is a great pick if you enjoy mythological rom-coms, reality-show chaos, and slow-burn romance. It’s a modern love story with divine interference and just the right amount of chaos.
I received a complimentary copy. All opinions in this review are my own.
Content: kisses only, a moderate number of Bible swears and a substitute swear for one of the gods.
Ummm where to even begin. I am OBSESSED. I was not able to put this book down. I was reading any chance I had. Jennifer Peel is amazing! This story is next level. This story had so many laugh out loud moments. There is magic, romance, sparks, and overall a FIVE STAR read. Demi + Roman anddd their chemistry is wow. I love how strong of a character Demi is, she was relatable in so many ways. Roman was the best book boyfriend and someone everyone needs in real life. I will be recommending this to anyone and everyone!
This is the book I didn’t know I needed. A messy mashup of fate, a reality dating show, and a romcom involving Greek and Roman gods? Yes, please!
Right from the start, I was intrigued with Demi and Roman and deeply appreciated the alternating points-of-view. A sizzling enemies-to-love vibe is infused in every interaction on each page, and the meddling, divine gifts, attraction, and romance all together couldn’t have been more explosive. The turbulence of making love matches, while getting good TV ratings, and embarking on an impossible quest, gave this one many laugh-out-loud moments, tender realizations, and allowed for a few twists and turns that had me fully captivated.
I loved everything about this one and I’m *begging* the author to make this one a series because there is so much potential with this unique world. And can I say the random hex-throwing bestie definitely deserves a story? Why, yes, I can say that and she does.
I couldn’t get enough of this single dad and no-nonsense woman, and every intense moment of chemistry and swoon. This one would be a perfect Valentine’s read…or really, an any-time-of-the-year read. My heart has been bedazzled by love.
Content: moderate amount of mild language; mild+ romance
*I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.*
Fate has never been this messy...or this entertaining!
Demi Blake, the no-nonsense daughter of Eros who regulates love instead of embracing it, is forced by the gods to star in a flashy dating show she despises...hosted by Roman Archer, her longtime rival and secret soulmate.
As divine meddling and reality TV collide, Demi must confront her fear of romance and the undeniable pull between her and Roman. The real risk isn’t humiliation on camera, but falling for the one man fate chose for her all along.
What you'll love: romcom involving Greek/Roman gods dual pov reality dating show enemies to lovers + soulmates single dad he fall first so much tension and chemistry the pebbles swooniest divine matchmaking
This adorable romcom is where myth, magic, and divine meddling collide in a swoony love story that left me completely undone! Between the laugh out loud moments, the flirty enemies to lovers banter, the chaos of reality TV, and a best friend who casually casts hexes, I never wanted this book to end!
Roman and Demi crackle on the page, because even when they’re sworn enemies, the sparks are impossible to ignore! Their relationship is packed with complications, twists, and divine interference (thanks, meddling gods), and I loved every single second of it. Is there anything better than a hero who’s determined not to fall in love…only to fall anyway, and spectacularly hard? Their emotional ups and downs had me fully invested, and that happily-ever-after left me smiling and in happy tears!
And the side characters? I am deeply invested, especially in Cassie and Junie, who absolutely stole the show. I am officially manifesting more of this world, because if this isn’t the start of a series, I may riot...or at least beg the author for more.
If you love myth-infused romance, reality TV chaos, and enemies to lovers magic, then do not hesitate because this book is an absolute must-read!
I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.
Content: kisses only, moderate amount of Bible swears
A Demigoddess’s Guide to Love is immensely entertaining, and was impossible to put down from the first chapter. The modern-day take on Greek god mythology feels refreshingly fun, and pairing it with a reality-show setting had me immediately hooked. I genuinely loved everything about it.
Demi is a strong heroine, but also has a relatable vulnerability. I rooted for her the entire way through. Roman is absolute book-boyfriend material, and the way he was with his adorable daughter made me love him even more. The romance between Demi and Roman is swoony, laugh-out-loud funny, and filled with exquisite tension, chemistry, and genuine heart. Jennifer has created some fantastic couples in her previous books, but these two are probably my favorites now.
The side characters were fantastic, bringing depth, humor, and heart to the story. The writing was excellent, and the pacing was spot on. Each chapter pulled me in and left me eager for the next. This is a beautifully unique romance that I already know I’ll read over and over again.
Magical, romantic, and so much fun, A Demigoddess’s Guide to Love is an unputdownable read for romance lovers who enjoy mythology with a modern twist, and unforgettable characters. Highly recommended!
I received a copy from the author, but a positive review was not required. All opinions expressed are completely my own.
I don’t quite know what I was expecting when I started this book, but whatever I thought didn’t even come close to how much I ended up adoring this story!
I enjoyed immersing myself in this unique world. The modern day twist on the Greek and Roman Gods was fresh and interesting and kept my attention. Lots of great side characters and mythical powers just added to the story (I adored Cassie, Junie, and Jonas).
Demi is such a fantastic protagonist- she is feisty and snarky and full of spunk, but also so much compassion and love. Watching her learn to embrace her goddess side and open her eyes and heart to others was sweet, but my favorite was her growth and journey to find herself.
Don’t even get me started on Roman- holy swoon! Talk about chemistry- he and Demi definitely stole the show. He also had a lot to learn and his growth as a character was endearing and heartfelt.
I loved this story! The ending was satisfying and sweet- my favorite kind. There was so much hope, comedy, snark, angst, and love —lots and lots of love.
Jennifer Peel fans are going to be obsessed with this original and swoony new romance featuring two demigods trying to navigate the rules—or not rules—of love. One the daughter of Eros, the other the son of Cupid, this whimsical mashup brings the idea of soulmates and enemies to lovers to a whole new level. Demi and Roman had SUCH chemistry—we are talking the kind fireworks are made of. It made it so hard to put down, I just wanted to keep reading to see how everything would turn out. The stakes were high and the romance even hotter, five stars for this book! Read this for: *Roman and Greek mythology *Reality TV show setting with a “divine” twist *Pebbles at her window *Pebbles at HIS window *Dual POV *Soulmates with a twist *Enemies to lovers swooniness *Junie *Cassie *All the delicious romantic tension!
I received an advance reader copy of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Content: mild swearing.
What an absolute breath of fresh air this book is. Jennifer Peel has outdone herself with A Demigoddess's Guide to Love. It's a unique take on the made for each other genre with an abundance of chemistry between Demi a Greek demigoddess and the daughter of Eros, and Roman, the son of Cupid. The combination of Greek and Roman mythology works superbly and results in a fantastic read.
This is a wonderful mythical, magical 5-star read for romance fans. It is utterly charming and captivates you from the very first page - it's the perfect sweet treat for Valentine's Day. I loved Demi and Roman so much!
Jennifer Peel’s writing continues to go from strength to strength with a fantastic supporting cast as always. I'm hoping that we see Cassie star in her own book in the future.
The storyline is brilliant and I love the concept of a reality show with a twist that is then tied into the mythology side of things. It's plotted perfectly and it's a really enjoyable read.
My first book recommendation for 2026! It got me out of a reading slump and was the first book in weeks to catch my attention from the beginning. Jennifer Peel is one of my top authors but this book is out of the normal realm for her and I love it! I LOVE Greek and Roman mythology and adore modern retellings. This is such a fun one and I love this world she has created. It's fun and snarky and dual POV. I really do also love the deeper themes in it like how can someone that's locked up their heart open it again? 🩷closed door romance 🩷 Uses characters and stories from Greek and Roman mythology 🩷Closed heart 🩷 Enemies to lovers 🩷Dual POV 🩷 The BEST supporting characters 🩷 Rom Com at it's best Anyway if you want Percy Jackson but the adult rom com version set on a show akin to the bachelor, read this.
A Demigoddess's Guide to Love was such a fun book! I don't even like those reality dating shows, but I love Jennifer Peel books, so of course I was always going to read it. I loved the banter between Demi and Roman, as well as all the Greek and Roman mythology sprinkled throughout. And, man, those kisses!! Yes, please! I knocked off a star because I felt the swearing was a bit excessive. Yes, they were all "minor" swear words, and yes, they are used in other Jennifer Peel books, but this time, it felt like way too much. I love this author's books because they're all closed-door with little to no swears (again, all the "minor" ones), so it was kinda shocking that they kept popping up again and again, and it detracted from the story. This was seriously a fun book, though, and I would highly recommend it if those don't bother you.
Peel delivers another great story. Based on Roman and Greek mythology, the book sheds, a modern light on where these characters of old would be today. Both of the main characters are Demigods which does put an interesting mortal spin on it. The ending was very immaculate no notes. However, I would like to see some more stories for these side characters in the future. I think the weakest part for me was just the reality TV aspect of it, just because I don’t personally like reality TV. Yet, I feel like Peel does a good job of making it make sense for the storyline. Good work and I want to read more from these characters in the future.
I love Jennifer Peel, and I’ll be honest, all I did was see that she had a new book out.
I didn’t have any idea of what I was getting into, and after the first two pages, I had to sit for a minute and say, what!?
And then I went with it 😂
Best decision. Sat back, and enjoyed the ride. I haven’t read a Greek/Roman mythology rom com, I don’t think? I really enjoyed it!! It was well done, and I am a sucker for good enemies to lovers, it’s my favorite trope when done well… and this one was!
"Maybe if people loved themselves more, they'd choose better partners. There'd be less jealousy. Less cruelty. Less hurting others in the name of insecurity. Maybe love would stop being a battlefield and start being a sanctuary."
A modern day take on Greek amd Roman Mythology mixed with romcon vibes!! I say romcon because this honestly reminds me of a romcon movie I would re watch a thousand times. If I wasn't an adult with responsibilities, I would have couch rot to finish this book! I hope she continues with some of the side characters stories!
PINCH ME! I'm dreaming! This was the perfect story to bring in the Valentine's season. Jennifer Peel combines her classic romance with wit and magical elements only she could pull off! Roman and Demi are **GOALS**. She somehow wrote a different style than she usually does, but still kept with her addictive writing!! I can't get over them! I loved this world and can't wait to revisit when the audiobook comes out!
I absolutely love this book! You have to make sure you set aside several hours to read because you won’t be able to put it down! Demi and Roman are such a great couple and add in Junie and Cassie and this story is just perfect! I am not typically a single dad troupe reader but Junie was the absolute perfect addition to the love story! I would give it ten stars if I could!
This was such a fun book. I love the Greek/Roman mythology tie-in. Demi and Roman were so swoony together, and the side characters were adorable - especially Cassie and Junie! If you love clean romance and mythology- read this book!
❤️ Greek/Roman mythology ❤️ Reality TV ❤️ Enemies to lovers ❤️ Soulmates ❤️ Single dad with an adorable daughter ❤️ Boss babe ❤️ Meddling parents/grandparents ❤️ Love will save the world. 🥰
Oh my this is such a great love story! I enjoyed reading about how Demi and Roman started as enemies and as they got to know each other fell in love. Also, I think people can relate to Demi and how she was hurt by love before she was able to be with her true love and how Roman felt like something was missing without his true love.
This book was so fun!! I loved the Mythological romance- you don’t see a lot of books with different storylines like this, and it worked!! It held Jennifer’s wonderful humor and swoony romance, and I LOVED it!!!!
