She wrote the rules of love. He’s about to make her break every one.
Demi Blake never asked to be the daughter of Eros, god of love. She’d rather hide behind her black muumuu and bureaucratic rulebook than embrace her divine destiny. As director of the Bureau of Affectional Affairs, she’s made it her mission to regulate mortal relationships with ruthless precision—and with zero tolerance for cinematic romance tropes.
But her father and great‑grandfather, Zeus, think it’s high time she fell in love herself—and used her divine gifts for good. Their solution? A quest. Demi must join the cast of Love Unscripted. The dating show—hosted by Roman Archer, son of Cupid, single dad, and walking violation of everything she stands for—is a glittery nightmare of grand gestures, slow‑motion kisses, and love at first sight. And now she’s contractually obligated to be its reluctant star.
To make matters worse, she and Roman share a complicated past. They loathe each other—or at least they pretend to. Because deep down, Demi knows the truth her goddess side whispered to her years Roman isn’t just her rival. He’s her soulmate. Her fated match.
As the cameras roll and the gods meddle from above, Demi begins to realize the biggest threat isn’t public humiliation—it’s the possibility that Roman might actually be worth falling for.
Will Roman recognize that he’s held the key to Demi’s heart all along, or will fate’s cruel timing tear them apart once more?
Witty, swoony, and full of divine mischief, A Demigoddess’s Guide to Love is a romantic comedy for anyone who’s ever rolled their eyes at a love montage—only to fall headfirst into one.
Jennifer Peel is the mother of three amazing kiddos. Wife to her one and only for the past twenty-two years. Lover of late night talks, beach vacations, the mountains, pink bubble gum ice cream, tours of model homes, and southern living. She can frequently be found with her laptop on, fingers typing away, indulging in chocolate milk, and writing out the stories that are constantly swirling through her head.
*****Update for Audiobook***** Yep, loved it just as much or more this second time listening to the audiobook!!! Sooo good! And I'm still all for this book being made into a movie! PLEASE!!! It would be an incredible movie!
Stephanie Rose and Neill Thorne are fantastic narrators and were perfect for bringing Demi and Roman's story to life! I had several times where I just closed my eyes and enjoyed listening to them. I felt like I was there with these characters!!! Read It!!! Or Listen to it!!!
******************************
Words cannot begin to describe how much I loved reading this book. I felt all the emotions. The dual POV was perfection! And yes, I laughed until I cried, and I cried because of the vulnerability and goodness of these characters! This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster...in all the good ways. Jennifer Peel has an incredible talent of creating characters that you will connect with and see their struggles and feel their hopes and dreams, and you will be cheering for them to have their happily ever after. I love when I pick up a book that takes me on that emotional rollercoaster and I know that any book by this author will definitely have me boarding that ride! And I am all in!!!
If I could rate this more than 5 stars I would definitely be giving it a lot more and two big ol' thumbs up!!! And let me tell you that THIS book would make the most incredible movie!!! Holy Moly!!! I would watch it over and over again! And it will definitely be a reread for me!
I just want to tell you alllll the things about it and get you so excited to read it and talk to everyone about it and see what you all loved and how happy it makes you. And maybe, like me, you'll shed a few tears too!
This book is pure magical joy and hope, sprinkled with lots of cuteness and love!!! I have scenes from the book playing on repeat in my mind! Get ready to smile mindlessly at your book/kindle/however you read it! You're going to love all of the secondary characters as well! Especially Cassie! Hee hee! She's an awesome best friend! I'm hoping really hard right now that we'll get her story as well! It's going to be a doozy!!! *Grinning with fingers crossed!*
The chemistry and sweet romantic tension is through the roof! These two are undeniably meant for each other. The pull and just adorableness of them toward each other had me grinning so big! *Happy Sigh* I have more than loved every book by this author, but this one honestly is one of her best works yet!!! And I don't say that lightly! She's an incredible author and nailed this one!
I hope you enjoy it if you pick up a copy! Cupid and the Demigoddess of love might just capture your heart this year!!!
Content: Kissing only, some mild swearwords scattered throughout and a substitute swear for one of the gods. Some mild innuendos. I'd consider this a clean PG-13 level read.
I received a copy from the author but have also purchased my own copy. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
***** Audiobook Update ***** This is one of those books that I loved even more as an audiobook. I love it when audiobooks have dual narrators, and Stephanie Rose is one of my favorite narrators. When she "sang" Jonas's song to Demi, I laughed out loud! It was perfect! Neill Thorne is perfect as Roman Archer. I even set my Audible sleep timer just to squeeze in a few more minutes before falling asleep.

In the words of Demi Blake, Oh. My. Titans. Meet Demi Blake, the reluctant daughter of Eros who prefers policy manuals over passion. As the tightly wound director of the Bureau of Affectional Affairs, Demi is determined to regulate love into something tidy, logical, and completely devoid of grand gestures. She has a coffee mug that says, "This is my happy face." Her father and great‑grandfather, Zeus, have other plans. On paper, combining Greek gods, modern bureaucracy, and a reality dating show sounds delightfully unhinged, and I’ll admit I wasn’t sure how it would work. But—oh ye of little faith—I forgot, just for a moment, what an amazing author Jennifer Peel is. I hope she can forgive my temporary lapse and judging her idea prematurely.
Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and the tension between Demi and Roman Archer was everything I could have wanted. Roman, son of Cupid, is a walking, talking rom-com hero and is everything Demi claims to despise. This makes their shared past and fated soulmate bond all the more delicious. Their banter is fun, their history actually matters, and the reality-TV setting adds just the right amount of chaos. The author balances humor with heart, and I loved watching Demi's journey.
Things I loved: the dual point of view, tossing pebbles on windows, all the banter, Roman with Junie (his daughter), and Cassie (Demi's bestie). I really need Cassie's story!! This would make a great series!
A Demigoddess’s Guide to Love is a great pick if you enjoy mythological rom-coms, reality-show chaos, and slow-burn romance. It’s a modern love story with divine interference and just the right amount of chaos.
I received a complimentary copy. All opinions in this review are my own.
Content: kisses only, a moderate number of Bible swears as a substitute swear for one of the gods.
(3/26) Although this book just came out, I already know it’s going to be one of my top reads of 2026. I just knew I had to listen to it on audio as well, and let me just say–it was every drip as dreamy as I had hoped it would be!
Stephanie Rose and Neill Thorne bring Demi and Roman to life in such a rich and intense way. The snark, banter, and wit was expressive and vivid, and it was like watching a movie in my mind.
Jennifer Peel is so skilled at bringing two fantastic characters together in impossible situations, with all the zazz and sizzle that I adore, while allowing for character growth and connection. I will ADORE this one forever!

(1/26)This is the book I didn’t know I needed. A messy mashup of fate, a reality dating show, and a romcom involving Greek and Roman gods? Yes, please!
Right from the start, I was intrigued with Demi and Roman and deeply appreciated the alternating points-of-view. A sizzling enemies-to-love vibe is infused in every interaction on each page, and the meddling, divine gifts, attraction, and romance all together couldn’t have been more explosive. The turbulence of making love matches, while getting good TV ratings, and embarking on an impossible quest, gave this one many laugh-out-loud moments, tender realizations, and allowed for a few twists and turns that had me fully captivated.
I loved everything about this one and I’m *begging* the author to make this one a series because there is so much potential with this unique world. And can I say the random hex-throwing bestie definitely deserves a story? Why, yes, I can say that and she does.
I couldn’t get enough of this single dad and no-nonsense woman, and every intense moment of chemistry and swoon. This one would be a perfect Valentine’s read…or really, an any-time-of-the-year read. My heart has been bedazzled by love.
Content: moderate amount of mild language; mild+ romance

Plot- It wasn’t a perfect book for me, but I was still hooked and really enjoyed it. Fun romance with a dating reality TV show setting, and a bit of magic. TBH, I would have liked more angst, like with her not knowing if any of the men in the cast were her match. I wanted her to try each one out, enjoy some chemistry while simultaneously making Roman jealous. Haha! That would have been super fun. As it was, it was still a fun read, just a little tame.
Characters- I like the FMC, but probably liked the MMC more. (She was sometimes a bit rude to him, imo, and didn’t seem empathetic to his plight when I thought she should be.) Dual perspectives added to the story. Side characters were cute. Next book: Cassie and Jonas?
Romance- Medium-high chemistry. HEA.
Writing - This was actually pretty funny in a couple LOL moments. I enjoyed that. The book didn’t take itself too seriously.
Cassie helped a girl out. “Preach it, sister!” she shouted. And suddenly, I was in the middle of a group hug. Squealing women. Tears. Professions of eternal friendship. Declarations that this would be the best summer of our lives.
The son of Cupid, wrangling his out of control Cupid tendencies:
But when I landed in front of her cabin, the Cupid in me came out in full force. And did what Cupids sometimes do. Thinking up sonnets to recite. Ballads to sing. Love poems to carve into tree bark. What in the actual hell?
Oh, plus this beautiful description of the cabin setting:
The early-morning sun spilled golden light across the wood planks, warming my skin despite the crisp mountain air. Pine needles glistened with dew. A breeze rustled through the trees, carrying the scent of earth and something that felt outside the constraints of time.
Content-
Language- Some infrequent low level swearing (h-, d-) Spice- Just sweet kisses on page. The FMC stays the night with the MMC but it’s not totally obvious that they slept together. Violence- No. Substance abuse- None Spiritual/religious- no Cover- cute POV- dual POV, first person Cliffhanger- no. Format- KU
Jennifer Peel is a prolific author, but I’ve now read 5 of her books -
A Demigoddess’s Guide to Love - 4.5 stars Professional Boundaries - 4.5 stars My Not So Wicked Stepbrother - 3 stars The Spy Who Ghosted Me - 2.5 stars The Proximity Factor - 2.5 stars
I adored this audiobook. Like Jennifer Peel’s other stories, this one grabbed my attention right away and swept me along for a fun and emotional ride. Demi and Roman’s first kiss was perfect and heartbreaking. Never has a kiss made me cry like this! The yearning, the angst, the grief, the scripted drama! I loved it even though my heart ached. A perfect little mixture of clean romance and fantasy. Highly recommend!
LOVED this book. The premise is great - I love a mythical realm where everybody has everyday jobs they have to go to. I really enjoyed this one. It won’t be everybody’s cup of tea, but it hit perfectly for me.
Ummm where to even begin. I am OBSESSED. I was not able to put this book down. I was reading any chance I had. Jennifer Peel is amazing! This story is next level. This story had so many laugh out loud moments. There is magic, romance, sparks, and overall a FIVE STAR read. Demi + Roman anddd their chemistry is wow. I love how strong of a character Demi is, she was relatable in so many ways. Roman was the best book boyfriend and someone everyone needs in real life. I will be recommending this to anyone and everyone!
I was so unsure going into this book initially but the storytelling was so natural that everything felt so real. I loved the creativity of using the gods and goddesses of Greece and Rome. I loved all the side characters that were incorporated, this is a story I really look forward to reading it again.
“Roman Archer, the so-called Architect of Love, was never going to be part of my quest to find love. He was the reason I’d locked my heart in the first place.”
I loved this cute book and watching Demi and Roman (both demigods) start as enemies and move forward to find out that they are indeed soulmates meant to be together. It may have taken a dating show and some divine matchmaking to get there, but they made it!
This book had so many things to love! I loved the magical realism aspect with the gods & goddesses, the banter and chemistry that often accompanies an enemies to more plot, Demi’s spunky and sassy friend Cassie, Roman being a single dad and cute Junie, Demi’s quest, the dating show premise, Demi’s unique pet, the meddling from the gods, Demi’s healing her heart, and more!
Favorite quotes:
“She pushed a button, and there he was: Roman Archer. Son of Cupid. Living proof that even swine could be accessorized, ridiculously handsome, and annoyingly well dressed.”
“But even as I was performing the complicated magic, something deep inside me spoke to me. It whispered that true love couldn’t be stopped. That it was the most powerful magic on the earth and in the heavens. That if true love found me, it could and would unlock my heart.”
“Admittedly, it was adorable to watch this man, whom I’d pegged as arrogant, crumble to the wishes of his daughter.”
3 1/2 - 4 stars. I love Jennifer Peel books, but this one just wasn't doing it for me like her other books have. Usually I'm completely enamored with her words and can't wait to keep reading to see what will happen next. It might have been the slightly bumped up use of mild profanity. Or maybe the fact that she based her book around the Greek and Roman gods that caused it to take on a different feel especially at the beginning. I do have a quirk when it comes to reading about those gods of old, that being: I don't like how they come off as just looking like unethical men with the worst traits being given god-like powers and then watching them use said powers in dastardly ways against humanity. It bugs me. I did see that my view tended to sometimes tint my experience reading this book. The book takes place on a reality tv set, so there's that made-up feel to certain parts too. And another strange concept used is that each god, goddess, or demigod has an inner god or goddess guiding them, separate from their own self, but part of them. Which made it seem like two people were residing inside one person. It was odd.
With that said, I did love Demi's best friend Cassie and her attitude towards life: she loved to hex the gods around her because she saw their true nature and didn't mind giving some back. Cassie was hilarious to read about. I loved Demi and how her true nature was felt, even when she herself couldn't feel. That girl had an inner moral compass even without a full heart. Junie was a delight to read about & a much needed bright spot in the story line. Roman's poems and songs were both heartfelt and laughable, depending on when they came to him; which with him being a cupid made it all the more laughable when they developed at the most inopportune times. And of course, I didn't like Zeus because, again, he was the god who messed up humanity and made everything worse. Selfishness and lack of moral character at its finest, right there in him. But overall, it was a book that helped set the Valentine's mood. So it was perfect to read for this "lovely" holiday.
This book was absolutely adorable and definitely a nice palette cleanser to fit in between some heavy or spicy books. I’m not a big fantasy reader; however, I feel this book was written in a way that totally reads like a romcom and not a fantasy, despite it dealing with Greek and Roman gods. It was an easy and breezy read.
I loved Demi and Roman. They were a breath of fresh air in this genre. No toxic jealousy and Roman especially was a lovely MMC. I enjoyed being in his head! I truly wanted these two to end up together in the end, and trust me…that is not always the case when I read romance.
What stopped me from giving this book five stars was the ending. It felt a bit too rushed and tied up rather neatly for (in my opinion) a pretty silly revelation. There was also a bit of a plot hole with Junie and the stuff her goddess whispers to her about Junie, though I suppose it’s indirectly explained.
Overall, if someone is looking for a cute, fun, and spice-free romance book…THIS is the one you need to pick up!
Good overall but mixed feelings about the whole soulmates thing
SPOILERS:
Demi’s parents were soulmates, but he was married and went back to his wife. Why would he do that? I know gods and goddesses are messy. It still doesn’t quite make sense. Why even bother giving him a wife when she doesn’t interact much or do anything. She’s not relevant to the plot. If soulmates are these all consuming things, it really doesn’t make sense that he’d still be trying to win his wife back.
This was so much fun to read! Locked hearts. Enemies. True love waiting to be found. Demi, a demigoddess sent on a quest by her grandfather Zeus where she must find her true love or risk losing it all, including the knowledge of who she is. Roman, her nemesis who hosts his own Love Unscripted TV show, is a Cupid and lives to make matches that last forever. Being apart of this growing and ever changing relationship kept me, smiling and laughing all the way to the end! True love really does exist, and once it’s found anything is possible 🩷
This book was 🔥! I loved Demi and Roman so much! They had great chemistry and banter. I loved seeing Demi on Love Unscripted and how she couldn’t help pairing her dates with their right matches. Roman’s daughter and mother were adorable and hilarious in turn. I loved what they added to the story. This is a great read for clean rom-com fans, fans of mythology, and reality tv shows. It has all of the laughter, all of the heart, and all of the swoon!
I really enjoyed this book! I lovd the combination of Greek and Roman mythology. This book is funny, lighthearted and romantic. Even though there was lots of miscommunication, it was a must for the story line. I loved Demi and Roman, but Junie will capture your heart! Cassie is hilarious and can we hope there’s a sequel that focuses on her and Jonas?
If you’re looking for a nice lighthearted fun read, this is it!
No spice Mild language Enemies to lovers, fated mates, a little miscommunication.
This was a fun love-themed enemies to lovers, second chance, fated mates romance between the demigoddess of love and the man she's closed her heart off from. With help from her interfering father Eros and Zeus, Demi is forced to go on a reality dating show but of course her ex is the host and all the forced proximity works on cracking open her feelings for him. Good on audio, original and a great read for Valentine's day! A new fav from Jennifer Peel!
This book was so fun and such a joy to read. Reality TV drama, combined with contemporary Greek and Roman demi gods and goddesses made the story so much fun. I loved it. I hope Jennifer revisits some of the other characters. Jonas is a complete show stopper.
Content: a few sexual references, kissing, some language
This story was so quirky and fun. It had a completely different premise and I had such a good time reading it. Demi was so sweet and lovable. Cassie would just be the most amazing best friend. I loved all of her sass and that she stood by Demi in everything. Roman seems like a sweet guy and I love how much growth his character showed from his younger days until the present. (I hope we get Cassie’s story too!) If you need a fun and light hearted read this is the book for you. It’s sassy, it’s sweet, and it has the tiniest bit of magic.
"Maybe if people loved themselves more, they'd choose better partners. There'd be less jealousy. Less cruelty. Less hurting others in the name of insecurity. Maybe love would stop being a battlefield and start being a sanctuary."
A modern day take on Greek amd Roman Mythology mixed with romcon vibes!! I say romcon because this honestly reminds me of a romcon movie I would re watch a thousand times. If I wasn't an adult with responsibilities, I would have couch rot to finish this book! I hope she continues with some of the side characters stories!
This one was a fun read! The personalities and drama of the gods were fun and funny. I just loved tge charachters and their interactions. Definitely recommend you read this one!
I don’t quite know what I was expecting when I started this book, but whatever I thought didn’t even come close to how much I ended up adoring this story!
I enjoyed immersing myself in this unique world. The modern day twist on the Greek and Roman Gods was fresh and interesting and kept my attention. Lots of great side characters and mythical powers just added to the story (I adored Cassie, Junie, and Jonas).
Demi is such a fantastic protagonist- she is feisty and snarky and full of spunk, but also so much compassion and love. Watching her learn to embrace her goddess side and open her eyes and heart to others was sweet, but my favorite was her growth and journey to find herself.
Don’t even get me started on Roman- holy swoon! Talk about chemistry- he and Demi definitely stole the show. He also had a lot to learn and his growth as a character was endearing and heartfelt.
I loved this story! The ending was satisfying and sweet- my favorite kind. There was so much hope, comedy, snark, angst, and love —lots and lots of love.
A Demigoddess's Guide to Love was such a fun book! I don't even like those reality dating shows, but I love Jennifer Peel books, so of course I was always going to read it. I loved the banter between Demi and Roman, as well as all the Greek and Roman mythology sprinkled throughout. And, man, those kisses!! Yes, please! I knocked off a star because I felt the swearing was a bit excessive. Yes, they were all "minor" swear words, and yes, they are used in other Jennifer Peel books, but this time, it felt like way too much. I love this author's books because they're all closed-door with little to no swears (again, all the "minor" ones), so it was kinda shocking that they kept popping up again and again, and it detracted from the story. This was seriously a fun book, though, and I would highly recommend it if those don't bother you.
This book was so fun!! I loved the Mythological romance- you don’t see a lot of books with different storylines like this, and it worked!! It held Jennifer’s wonderful humor and swoony romance, and I LOVED it!!!!
What an absolute breath of fresh air this book is. Jennifer Peel has outdone herself with A Demigoddess's Guide to Love. It's a unique take on the made for each other genre with an abundance of chemistry between Demi a Greek demigoddess and the daughter of Eros, and Roman, the son of Cupid. The combination of Greek and Roman mythology works superbly and results in a fantastic read.
This is a wonderful mythical, magical 5-star read for romance fans. It is utterly charming and captivates you from the very first page - it's the perfect sweet treat for Valentine's Day. I loved Demi and Roman so much!
Jennifer Peel’s writing continues to go from strength to strength with a fantastic supporting cast as always. I'm hoping that we see Cassie star in her own book in the future.
The storyline is brilliant and I love the concept of a reality show with a twist that is then tied into the mythology side of things. It's plotted perfectly and it's a really enjoyable read.
This was such a fun book. I love the Greek/Roman mythology tie-in. Demi and Roman were so swoony together, and the side characters were adorable - especially Cassie and Junie! If you love clean romance and mythology- read this book!
