I really enjoyed this small town romance, filled with suspense, drama, angst and heat!
Skylar has been running too long from her abusive ex Antonio with their son Drake. Finally feeling as though she has found her happy ever after, and maybe some peace she meets her new hot neighbour Neal, who's a cop. Everything she would want in a kind, caring man is Neal, opposite to her ex Antonio. The sparks between them could light a small inferno, but she resists, having trust issues.
Neal a natural protector remembers her from her ex's arrest, he's always thought about Skylar and can't beleive she is his new neighbour. He falls first, breaking down her walls. Drake also has a good role model in his life and the adorable dog Benny!
A great romance with lots of twists and turns. Well written and fast paced, once you pick this up you won't be able to put it down!

✨This book was AMAZING! I devoured it in one day! I love a good Romaric suspense book and this definitely did not disappoint. I loved everything about it. The writing was wonderful and can’t wait to read more from this Author!

We meet Jennifer and her young son, Drake when they are at their lowest point in her life. The police respond to a call that has Antonio removed forcing Jennifer to go on the run. Years later she’s fought to turn her life around and now goes by Skylar. They’ve had to move several times after being discovered over and over and with their newest rental Drake finds a friend in their neighbor, Neal and his dog. As time goes by Neal and Skylar form a friendship that becomes more as she learns to let her walls down for a man with goodness in him. Neal figures out why Skylar seems so familiar and does some digging at work into that one night on duty that’s always stuck with him. Uncovering who Drakes father is leads to trouble and danger to Skylar and Drake and Neal wants nothing more than to protect them at all cost. Their brief moment years ago comes full circle taking them both on a journey worth fighting for!

Skylar also lands a job at Drake's school so she can be close to him. Skylar and Neal grow closer, and Skylar looks familiar to Neal, then he finally remembers where he knows her from. Neal becomes protective of Skylar and Drake, torn between his work and his duty to protect her when her past becomes entangled in his current criminal investigation.

Skylar is on the run from a man who is trying to harm her and her son. Neal is a policeman who met Skylar a long time ago so when he sees her again, she seems familiar to him. Then he realizes she's the woman he could never get off his mind after that past encounter. Gate has given him a second chance to connect with her and he will protect her and her son no matter what. I think my favorite character is Neal. I love his protective nature and the way he cares for Skylar. She is such a strong mom and has done everything in her power to protect her son from an awful ex. But when she needs help, Neal is always there for them. This is a great romantic suspense. Plenty of romance and also mystery to keep you interested.

No spoilers: this is a must read; you will not be disappointed!
This is a well written fast paced, action-packed story, with danger, suspense, intrigue, angst, dark secrets, trust issues, undeniable attraction, and love, which leads to an entertaining, twisted, and unpredictable, small-town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

She's back and I am one excited fan!!!
Not going to lie this book was a bit scary. But not horrible. Shevaun really spun a great book. I couldn't put it down.
Jennifer AKA Skylar has to be the bravest badass mother I have ever read. Her son Drake is awesome and it's all because of her.
