After nearly forty years as a school teacher, Harry Galbraith has retired. He’s looking forward to some peace and quiet, and believes that when he finally leaves St Matthew’s it will be for the very last time: nothing could call him back.
But then a shocking death occurs, and Harry finds himself inexorably connected, and – try as he might – he cannot extricate himself from the horrors that build, and build, as the year progresses.
Each month brings a new horror, and the notion of a tranquil retirement is a distant memory, as Harry faces a race against time to prevent further tragedy. Tragedy that might just be of his own making.
Presented in twelve parts, released sequentially through 2025, APOSTLES is Stephen Barnard’s first serial novel.
Stephen Barnard has been writing fiction (and non-fiction cricket exploits) for a number of years. The success of his short story collection 'A Very Bad Year' encouraged him to push further. He now has over 20 published works, mainly in the horror/suspense genre. When he's not writing he teaches, reads, snoozes and binge-watches horror films.
After the shocking developments in the last chapter, it's reasonable for Harry to turn to the police, and tell them everything. Reasonable, yet not the wisest move he could have made. Lots of murders in this story! Pity it's over in just one week 😢
Part 11 is a maelstrom of both action and torment for Harry, as his situation is the worst its ever been. Can he hold on to his resolve to find a way to end this misery? I cannot wait for the final part- this is an epic series!
Still not sure how this cultish/cosmic tale is going to end, but for once I am rooting for the good guy. I'm not sure Mr. Bernard goes in for happy, or even just less unhappy endings.
