Fang Fatale (Fangs & Fables Book Two): A Paranormal Vampire Romance

Rate this book
His mission. Her redemption. Their dangerous craving.

Delia Guidry hasn’t seen the sun in eighteen years—mostly because she’s a vampire, but also because she was a captive of Mars Mathis’s Mystical Menagerie. But after years of being forced to act as an unwilling assassin, she’s finally free, which presents a new type of problem—what to do with that freedom.

Enter Nathan James, the FABLE agent who helped liberate her. He thinks Delia, with her powers and sharp wit, might be just the vampire to help him take down a trafficking ring he’s been tracking for years. Meanwhile, Delia is determined to bring down the dark forces that haunt her memories. As they hunt shadows, their fragile trust ignites into a bond unlike any other—one fraught with secrets, sacrifice, and a desire that threatens to consume them both.

But with new threats emerging and Mathis’s sinister influence resurfacing, Delia finds herself fighting not only for the black market victims, but also for a future with the man she can’t help but long to sink her teeth into—even knowing full well their living and undead worlds were never meant to collide.

For fans of Jeaniene Frost’s and Ilona Andrews’ fierce heroines and action-packed romance.

Fang Fatale pulled me in almost immediately, and once it had its hooks in me, I didn't want to put it down.

Delia is such an easy character to root for. After spending eighteen years imprisoned and forced to become someone else's weapon, watching her navigate freedom for the first time was one of the strongest parts of the story. She isn't simply trying to survive anymore—she's trying to figure out who she is when no one else is pulling the strings. That internal struggle gave her character a lot of heart.

Nathan was the perfect counterpart. Rather than trying to save Delia, he sees her strength and offers her the opportunity to choose her own path. Their partnership develops naturally as they work together to dismantle a trafficking ring, and I really enjoyed watching trust slowly build between them. The romance felt believable, and the chemistry between them kept me turning the pages.

My biggest critique is that I found myself wanting a little more depth in the emotional moments. The characters have fascinating backstories and carry significant trauma, and I would've loved to spend more time exploring those layers. At the same time, there were a few descriptive passages that felt longer than they needed to be. Tightening some of those descriptions while allowing the emotional beats a little more room to breathe would have made an already engaging story even stronger.

That said, I genuinely had a great time with this book. The blend of vampires, action, romance, and the darker themes surrounding trafficking kept the stakes high, and Delia's journey from captive to someone reclaiming her own future was incredibly satisfying to follow.

If you're looking for a paranormal romance with a resilient heroine, a protective yet respectful hero, plenty of action, and a story that keeps the pages turning, Fang Fatale is definitely worth picking up.

This deserves a 4-1/2 but booksires only allows whole stars. The reason for the 1/2 star deduction is purely my opinion. Not the authors ability to write an amazing story. Yes, it is annoying, but I get annoyed when an author goes into heavy detail about the MC love interest; the long looks the self-narration about said love interest. I do understand why the female leads does this but, in every contact, she has with her love interest got a tiny bit annoying.

Now this is a story to not be missed. You should read the first book A Malicious Menagerie but not a deal breaker. Reading them in sequence will enhance the story line immensely. This author does an amazing job of connecting the story lines seamlessly. This book gives you more detail about the wonderful characters she has created. The world building is wonderful. I really do love these characters. The action is fast and almost constant. You are on the edge of your seat for these two to not only get together but to take the bad guys down. All of them. They are all so very bad. It is a wonderful way without being preachy bringing to light abuse that happens to animals of all kinds. Which anything that can bring attention their plight is an awesome thing in my book. Love that. Highly recommend this new series.

⭐ 5 stars | 🌶️ spice 2/5

One of the books I’ve been waiting so long for, and I went in with really high expectations. And guess what? It exceeded every single one of them. This book put me through everything. It was a full emotional rollercoaster.

Funny, hopeful, heartbreaking, frustrating, full of rage, full of empathy, and sometimes just straight-up wtf 😭

Some scenes were a little predictable, but honestly? I didn’t even mind. I liked it.

Nathan and Delia are easily one of my favorite couples in this series. I’m so happy for them. And one thing I absolutely loved? ZERO miscommunication trope. None. Nathan always knew exactly what to say to ease Delia’s worries, and she did the same for him. The communication?? Beautiful. That alone made their happy ending feel so deserved.

The epilogue was hilarious, I loved it so much. Eli?? Adore him. And Chase being overprotective over Anna?? I need more immediately. I couldn’t get enough.

Also… please tell me the next book will give us at least one big wedding where all the creatures come together in one place. I’m begging. I need that interactions.

Just like the ending of this book, I still have so many questions but I trust Josie Ryann has everything planned out perfectly, and we’ll get our answers soon enough.

I cannot wait for the next book.

Thank you so much for the ARC 🖤

I loved the seamless continuation from book one.
We follow Delia’s story after being freed from Mars Mathis’s Mystical Menagerie. The lucky vampire was invited to stay with FABLE agent Nathan James while she learns to adjust to the real world.
And guys, the sexual tension between these two was so intense & the most torturous slow burn 🥵

The pacing of the story was great (I read it in two days). We get more character development/back story for our main characters & are introduced to the best side characters, I adore Eli!
Plus, the black market for mystical & magical creatures goes so much deeper than we thought in book one. It’s makes sense to have a whole agency, FABLE, dedicated to tracking down the sellers & freeing those held captive.

I enjoyed getting a complete story of the main characters but what happened at the water park 😩 and where did they all go? Can’t wait for the next book!

Highly recommend continuing with book two if you’ve read book one, A Malicious Menagerie. And if you haven’t read book one, what are you doing??

***A special thank you to the author, Josie Ryann, for the opportunity to read & review this ARC! I am voluntarily leaving this honest review. ***

When I rejoin the FANGS & FABLES series, I walk into Nathan walking through a building before promptly getting a . . . chest massage . . . from Job, who is still looking for Mathis. Painful as it is, he gives Job as much info as possible to get him on his way. When he checks in with Eli, he finds an important message from Anna. Knowing Delia is depressed and could be helpful in his next assignment, he enlists her help—setting into motion an adventure filled with danger, excitement, pushed boundaries, sexy times, betrayal, raw emotions, violence, and death. Never a dull moment 🖤

I love this series so much and this second book hit even harder than the first, which I did not see coming. It's so well written and so easy to get attached to these characters.

Delia went through something genuinely terrible in book one and she is carrying all of it here. Love a traumatized character. She doesn't trust herself, she's working through layers of trauma, and watching her navigate that while also hunting down a trafficking ring with an attractive, intensely controlled supernatural agent by her side is such a compelling combination. She is exceptionally written and I adored every second of her. Who better to help her than an attractive agent of the supernatural force who helped to save her? Nathan resonated with me in a way I wasn't expecting. Nathan is so controlled, so type A, that his yearning for her is delicious. He thinks she would think him boring, but who would she want more than someone so stalwart and dependable? Their yearning is absolutely delicious.

And The biting scene. It made me MELT. Hottest non-spicy scene I have read in recent memory and I am still thinking about it. And just as emotional as I expected it would be.

The interconnected standalone format continues to be so well done and the continuation of the overarching mystery with the big bad from book one woven through everything gives the series more momentum.

This feels like a book written specifically for me. Smart, fun, lots of feels, with great characters and plot. One of the best urban fantasy series out there and I will read absolutely everything this author writes.

Thanks so much to Booksirens and the amazing author for the complimentary copy and PR package! This review is voluntary and all opinions are my own.

OMGGGGGGGG!!!! This is such a fantastic follow up from the first book!

Ever since I finished the first one, i needed to know what happened with all the other creatures and characters after it ended. I am soooooo happy this was Delia and Nathan's book. I loved both of them and I loved their story. Nathan, you sweet golden retriever secret agent. Always wanting the best of his girl. Delia, you precious, saucy little vampire. I loved you from the moment i met you and learning about you made me love you more. The best part about these two is thay they just compliment and understand each other so well. AND THE YEARNING!!!! OH THE YEARNING. NOT JUST FROM ONE BUT FROM BOTH PARTIES. AND WHEN IT FINALLY PAID OFF. *CHEF KISS*

I loved how it was different from the first one yet was connected all the same. Especially since I didnt see that plot twist ending happening at all! That epilogue left me wanting more, and I cant wait for the next one!

I received an advance reader copy of this book and am leaving my honest review voluntarily. Thank you to Book Sirens, Josie Ryann and the publisher for the opportunity.

This story is a completely different beast from the first in the series. The external threats and conflict are important and ever present but I found Delia’s internal struggles to be even more engaging.

She has so much to process. Her death and transformation. Her time in the menagerie. And now, the future. Who is she and where does she want to go from here? What does she feel for Nathan and what does she want to do about it.

I was happy for the chance to get to know Nathan better. He’s such an interesting character. I loved him in book one and love him more now. And speaking of love, I need more Eli. I will be impatiently waiting for his book for sure. That man is my favorite brand of brilliant chaos.

I liked the special agent spy parts of this book but did wish for a little more time at the watermark with the other escapees.

A really great series so far and I hope you give it a try.

Wow! I might have to say, as much as I was a fan of the first book, Fang Fatale might actually be better! We leave off with the aftermath of the menagerie being dismantled and much of its inhabitants being freed. Meanwhile, Nathan and Delia find themselves fighting off attraction as they try to fight greater threats that are still out there threatening cryptids like Delia. Along the way, Delia reckons with her past as well as what she is now. On a very personal note, I love how the book gives a nice little shout-out to Tampa, Fl! Much appreciated! I also really enjoyed getting to know Nathan better because I really liked him in the first book. Delia and Nathan make such a charming team in this sexy, engaging and thrilling follow up to the first book with an action-packed conclusion that heart-stopping and breath-stealing in more ways than one!

I was given an ARC version of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Fang Fatale by Josie Ryan somehow managed to top the first book for me. I already really enjoyed Malicious Menagerie, but I was especially excited going into Delia and Nathan’s story — and Ryan absolutely delivered.
This one leans into revenge in such a satisfying way while still keeping the tension, chemistry, and momentum that made the first book work. Delia and Nathan felt worth the wait, and their dynamic carried the story from start to finish.
If you love a revenge plot with characters you actually want to root for, this one hits the mark.

I had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Fang Fatale by Josie Ryann. I gave this book 4.5 stars. This is book 2 in the Fangs & Fables book series. This book follows a different couple than book one, but you need to read book one before reading this one. Josie’s books do an incredible job addressing the ethical concerns of animals in captivity. If you like found family, mythical creatures in a modern day setting, betrayal, he would die for her, secrets, sacrifice, and spice that doesn’t overpower the plot, I highly recommend reading this book.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it… this author made magic again with this book. She made the impossible possible and it was even better than the first book! I literally read this book in one day. I don’t want to give anything away but the fact that she’s planned upcoming books for the other characters makes me so happy. I can’t wait until the next one!

Fang Fatale by Josie Ryann
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was so good! I loved getting to know Nathan and Delia better after being introduced to them in the Menagerie in Ryann’s first book of the Fangs and Fables series. I also loved being introduced to two more of my favorite characters, Eli and Stef. I’m really looking forward to these two getting their own books, as well as revisiting other characters from book one as we get more from this series.

I just love this book! 💜

Wow. If I thought I couldn't put A Malicious Menagerie down, Fang Fatale held me hostage. The yearning, the secrets, and the danger all kept me turning pages. I was desperate to know how it was going to end... but terrified that the ending might not be a happy one (no spoilers, you'll have to read to find out!). I highly recommend Fang Fatale for fans of vampire romance, urban fantasy, strong FMCs, and secret societies.

Fang Fatale is the second book in the Fangs and Fables series by Josie Ryann. The book takes place after the rescue of the Fables from the Menagerie. We accompany Delia on her journey from drowning in self pity to becoming an emancipated FABLE agent. Living and working together Delia and Nathan get close, but FABLE has a no fraternization policy. Will they make it work or sacrifice their bond for their jobs?
Fang Fatale is a great sequel and I love that it's about a new set of characters that were introduced in the last book. I'm usually not a huge fan of vampire stories, but I actually really liked this one! The world building in this series is super interesting and the writing style is captivating. So all in all, I can only recommend to read this book!
