Oh this was a ROMANCE romance. A super swoon-worthy story with two MCs who are perfectly matched.

“I was wrong before. Remi isn’t an anchor. He’s the goddamn sun. And like every good flower, I bow toward him without hesitation.”

This book felt like a warm hug. I really enjoyed seeing more from the Darlings (and their hilarious interactions), but I really liked also getting to see Benson’s family dynamic and how it changes through the book. And MOUSE? Nothing sells me harder to a character than their love for tiny animals 🥹

I got teary several times throughout this book. It was just so tender! Remi and Benson fell for each other so naturally and the genuine care and understanding they had for each other was moving. The flowers, the figurines, the concept of being together and just sitting in the silence. SWOON.

This book made my heart happy. If you’re looking for a feel-good story, look no further.

I was really looking forward to Remi’s book because he’s been my favourite since the beginning.

Remi and Benson’s story was incredibly cute and as characters I absolutely adored them both. They were so sweet together, and I especially loved the gentle exploration of Benson’s autism diagnosis and the way he eventually opened up to his family about it.

That said, something was missing for me overall.

I couldn’t quite shake the feeling that the book needed one more round of editing to add those little details that make a story feel 'fuller', if that makes any sense. The Darling family and some of the other side characters felt a little like an afterthought this time around, which made the book feel somewhat flat.

Despite those issues, there was still so much I enjoyed. I loved Remi and Benson individually and as a couple, and I really liked that there was no unnecessary conflict between them. Their relationship had such a softness to it, and that made the book an easy read even when I felt the story itself could have been more developed.

And honestly, only Emmy Sanders could have me crying over a bloody mouse when I absolutely HATE rodents! That alone deserves some kind of award.

Days since crying over something seemingly so small & random in an Emmy Sanders book: ZERO! 🐭

Well this book was just diabolically lovely. It was everything I loved about the vibe of book one, with characters who were so solid in their own sense of self (just like Ash & Jackson were), even in the face of learning knew things about themselves (e.g. Benson having recently learned he is autistic and deciding to change his entire life to try and be happy for himself and not continue to live a masked life).

Anyways everyone should read this, the writing style & romance arc is beautiful. Remi & Benson really see & consider each other in a way most people believe only happens in fairytales, but it should be the way every relationship is in real life.

I knew I would love Remi's book as he has been my favorite of the brothers and this did not disappoint. I loved seeing how accepting he was of Ben and his diagnosis. I can only imagine the relief it was for both of them to have someone who accepted and loved them. They became each others safe space in so many ways and I loved that. I did enjoy how funny August is as a side character. I would love a spin off that gave him a story. I also never anticipated feeling so much for a field mouse. This book was soft and sweet in the best ways.

The finale. The end of the Darling Brothers series, and the long awaited story of Remi & Benson is finally here! If you’ve read this series you know how truly special Remington Darling is. He’s beautiful, passionate, caring, sweet, and his family loves him. He was the brother I was looking forward to most, and of course Emmy did not disappoint.

Benson is back in town, he is the older brother of Remingtons best and longest friend. He’s the one Remi had a huge crush on as a teenage boy, and now he’s even more gorgeous than Remi remembers. Benson is trying to reclaim his love for life and live for himself now that he’s been officially diagnosed with Autism. He’s putting in the work, he’s seeing his therapist, and he’s got nothing but time on his hands. So when the Darling ranch starts to feel like home.. well, that’s where he decides to stay. Forced Proximity, anyone?

Remi and Benson are beautiful. There’s really no other way to put it. They’re just simply perfect. They click. They work. They just make sense. They understand one another. They care deeply for one another. And their story is just so so sweet.

Buckle up for a slow burn, these two really take the slow and swoony road to their HEA. They don’t rush, they just enjoy the ride it takes to get there. No drama. No complications. All love. Simple as that.

I’m sad this series is over, but so glad it happened. The Darling Brothers will live rent free in my head for the rest of time. A great summer vibe, and beautiful queer love for everyone.

I’ve been waiting patiently for Remi’s story since I first met him in book one. There was just something about him that pulled me in. This was exactly what I was expecting for him- sweet, ooey gooey, make you giggle and smile kinda book. Quiet,sweet Remi surprised me with his sass and some of the things that came out of his mouth and I was so here for it! He’s tied with Colton for my favorite Darling brother because I love them both for completely different reasons. I loved Remi & August’s friendship, it was so earnest and sweet. Benson I resonated with a lot as I have some of the same neurodivergent things he mentions in the book. I loved how in depth it was talked about and how it showed him working on accepting and loving his true self. I love a good animal side character and I think this was a very fitting ending to this series. I hope to see August in his own book some day but maybe it’s not in the cards for him. I wanted to thank Emmy for the opportunity to read and review this book!

It is incredible that I can say this is one of my favourite Emmy Sanders books when Fool Hearts and To Catch a Firefly are the competition but this book is right up there!

So beautifully written, this novel explores Benson’s experience of being a late-diagnosed autistic person. One of the most heart-warming and accurate representations I’ve ever read. Watching Ben begin to feel comfortable with his own autism traits and find that reassurance in Remi was incredibly sweet.

The small-town, farm charm made the setting extremely cozy. Remi was a really lovely MMC and his deafness was a gentle undertone throughout the whole story. His migraines created the perfect hurt x comfort situation.

This book is heavily character driven and a slow burn with spice. I think Emmy balanced the pining and plot extremely well.

I enjoyed seeing cameos of our other couples and loved getting to know Auggie better as well.

This was such a sweet romance, Rémi and Benson were the definition of supreme cuteness. So much understanding and communication between them, the way they open to each other is just beautiful. They are there for the other, and this support is priceless. Seeing them falling for each other was beautiful.

OMG, this book is so beautiful. Honestly, Remi and Benson caused some serious fluttery butterflies with how special their relationship is. Separately they are wonderful people but together they are just extraordinary. They both won my heart so completely.

I loved everything about these two as a couple. How they just get each other and can relate to what the other is feeling, seeing those parts of each other that no one else knows. How they appreciate each other exactly as they are and how they enjoy being in each other’s company, no words needed. How they accommodate each other’s needs without even realising it.

Their quiet, affectionate, steady love for each other was so beautiful to watch blossom. These two are like two puzzle pieces fitting together so perfectly.

Remi has the most gorgeous way about him. He’s one of a kind and I absolutely adored him for it, including how he doesn’t let his deafness define him. Remi’s understanding, his kind reassurance and knowing when Ben needs it… urgh, just couldn’t get enough of that man!

Wiser than his years, I also loved how Remi calls out Benson’s brother, Auggie’s behaviour when he’s overreacting or when he’s not giving Benson a chance. (And to be fair on Auggie, I give him an A* for how he responds to Ben’s confession and the effort he puts in after to get to know him, plus defending Benson to his father.)

Oh, and how I adored Benson’s huge heart and his deep love for animals. My heart absolutely melted at how he helped Mouse and how important she became to him 🥹 (I’ll own up that I did have a good ole bawl over it too 😭). I mean, of course, it makes Remi only love Ben even more. And then how Benson steps up and takes such amazing care of Remi when he’s unwell. Well, I was a complete goner for him too.
 
Seeing Benson discover who he is following his autism diagnosis in his forties and seeing him find a sense of peace and home with Remi was everything. My heart panged for him feeling so lost and confused about his future, and his worry that people won’t like him for the person he is. I cannot tell you how much I loved seeing the real Ben break through, how at ease and comfortable he is around Remi. How he begins making jokes! Seeing him at peace and finding his home absolutely made my day.

This is the first book I’ve read in this series, but I’m totally taken by the love within the Darling family and how they so easily accepted Benson’s presence in Remi’s life and welcomed him. The other books will definitely be joining my tbr.

Let's all give Emmy Sanders a round of applause because she has done it again. The final book in the Darling Brothers series is absolutely perfect and a beautiful conclusion to this amazing series.

We finally get Remi's story and it is pure gold. The way Emmy brings her characters to life, lets them practically walk off the pages of the book and into our hearts, is incredible. They are so vivid and diverse and relatable that you as a reader connect with them on a completely different level, bringing the reading experience to new heights.

To put it in one word, this story is beautiful. Remi and Benson's characters have such depth and emotion and they make you ache in every way. They brought tears to my eyes in the best way, had my heart feeling like it would burst from all the emotion, my cheeks aching from all the laughing I did and just left me feeling completely satisfied after finishing their perfect story.

The entire portrayal of what it is like to live with physical and psychological challenges is done in a tasteful, informative, positive and frankly beautiful manner. These "challenges" are in reality just a matter of having the right mindset and accepting yourself the way you are, which is your own normal, and recognizing that you are perfect just the way you are and do not need to change yourself to please others or meet their expectations. This

I absolutely adore the interactions between Remi and Benson. The potential for fun, cheeky banter and teasing, with flirtatious innuendo is ever-present and Remi absolutely takes advantage of every opportunity. And the fact that Benson is so literal in his understanding and replies makes every situation that much funnier.
And I especially love this particular character trait about him. He resonates so deeply with me and that connection makes this book hit more profoundly.

I really enjoy the entire sign language aspect of the story. This alternative form of communication has the ability to allow the MMCs to convey thoughts, feelings and desires that might otherwise be difficult to communicate using "only words", not to mention that at times it has an added sense of privacy or secrecy because it is silent. But that isn't to say that there aren't also situations where unsuspecting eyes are witness to exchanges not meant for them, usually ending in a good laugh at the "eavesdropper's" expense.

Overall, the communication between Remi and Benson is absolutely amazing, right from the get go - and it is one of my favorite things about this story. The exchanges are open, non-judgemental, healing, focus on consent, listening to your inner voice and accepting your own body's needs.

And the interactions between the MMCs and side characters in this book (Ash, Remi's brothers and partners, Auggi ...) are so lively, full of honest truth without filters, good-natured teasing, deep, emotional insights and even the smallest little details make you feel as if you are included in the conversation or let in on an inside joke.
The endless support, understanding, space, and patience that Remi has for and gives to Benson is EVERYTHING!!! Their bond is pure gold.
I am completely blown away by how Remi sees straight into Benson's soul and seemingly instinctively knows what he needs, because he is so attuned to him. And the same goes for Benson. Their relationship is equal parts give and take and it is so moving, heart-warming and at times downright swoon-worthy.
And speaking of swoon-worthy, these two have instant chemistry that is both emotional and physical and the spice is so well done. A lovely mixture of funny, lust-filled scenes; emotional passion-driven scenes; quiet, tender scenes and Remi's constant praise, which doesn't only send a shiver down Benson's spine.

This is definitely a book I will read again and again whenever I need to be reminded of the beauty in the world.

This book was absolutely spectacular. The way I teared up 38297193 times throughout the book should tell you everything you need to know.

Remington Darling, I knew I'd love you beyond belief, but oh, my heart, what have you done to me? I don't even know how to process what you made me feel.

And Benson, Mr Benson Harper is the sweetest man alive. Seriously, we need to protect this man at all costs.

The way these two quietly loved each other made my own heart beat a mile a minute. While quiet, their love was also loud, but in a way that sounds different for us. The comfort and intimacy these two share in silence is unlike anything I've read. It was everything.

And when Benson said now was the perfect time to find each other again because now he was ready to give himself fully to Remi. Stoppppppp. That had me on my mf knees. How dare you be THIS PERFECT?

I loved the representation in this book for both Remi and Benson. The way Remi talked about him being deaf as a gift made me think about the way I see life, and I think I will spend quite a while on this topic. For him it was not a handicap, for him being deaf meant freedom. Istg, it did something to my brain.

Benson... I don't want to say exactly what the rep is for Benson because it was such a big part of the story that I think it is best for you to discover while reading. It was a journey and Ben is taking us with him. You will be there for all the important things, for all the struggles, for all the winning moments too. Remi was Ben's support in this journey, and I am so glad they found each other again when they did.

This is a book about discovering who we are, accept that and give ourselves grace. You can be in your 40s and not know who you truly are deep down, and it is fine to not know. It is fine to work on that. It is never to late. Never. It is also a book about the importance of listening to our hearts. The hearts knows what it wants better than us. Trust her.

Also, Mouse... how did we get from a house cow to a field mouse turned domestic... the difference is size made me laugh cuz whenever Mouse was mentioned I remembered that dang cute cow and I can't.

The family and found family in this book is amazing. Found family is one of my top 3 tropes, and Emmy Sanders sure knows how to write that. I was so happy to get to see Jackson, Colton and Law again, along with Ash, Noah and Oak.

This is the end of an era and I am NOT ready to let them go. I can't believe we will not get back to Darling, Montana. What do you mean? Nooo. Now I would seriously cry cuz I already miss them all and I just closed the book not even 20 minutes ago.

I was so excited to finally read the last Darling brothers story, and I was just captivated by this beautiful story and this couple.

Remington Darling is the youngest of four brothers. He is an animal lover and caregiver, an artist, and is deaf. He has seen his older brothers fall in love and their family grow.

Benson Harper has returned to Darling Springs after decades of running himself ragged in the business world. He has been learning more about himself and is trying to figure out his life on his own terms instead of societal expectations. But he is also having to let down the mask he has put on for decades.

Benson begins hanging out at the farm with Remi, caring for the animals and quietly getting to know each other again. Benson was always the mysterious older brother of Remi's best friend and is twelve years older. He is quiet, honest, anxious, self-deprecating, and uncomfortable in social situations.

The more time they spend together, the more their differences blend into a sense of understanding, acceptance, and compatibility. Benson is also learning to accept himself and that he is worthy. And Remi is also learning that he deserves to have someone care for him like he does for others.

I loved how they complemented each other and how their personal issues made their need for quiet times relatable to each other, and that they supported each other. I found it to be just a beautiful pairing, and I just adored them together. These two guys are so sweet, patient, and understanding with each other, but they also have amazing slow-burn chemistry.

I thought the author did a very good job of helping the reader feel and understand what it is like to be dealing with deafness and autism, and the importance of having a safe space to be open and vulnerable and feel accepted.

This brings back all of the Darling brothers and their partners, as well as August(Benson's brother and Remi's best friend), and I enjoyed seeing Benson building relationships with them as well. And they also have a fun pet. I did appreciate the set of bonus stories. I am sad to see this series end. I would love to see a spin-off for August because he is also a unique character.

🐎AHHHHHHHH I looooooove the Darlings soo sooo much! They're all so sweet, and lovable, and funny: rascal siblings edition! And the wayyyy they love each other so deeply, and how every single member of that family takes pride in being unabashedly romantic omg!! I've pretty much just been sighing all morning since the epilogue sent me to my knees in the most swoony way possible. I could just bask in their feel-good energy forever!!🤠

🌸🎨🖌️Painted in Wildflowers was Remi and Ben's watercolour soft, sweet and gentle romance, that'd evolved alongside Ben's tender healing journey. Ben had recently learned a crucial thing about himself, recognized all the ways he'd never truly fit in the life he was living, then chucked it all and came back home to Darling.🪻💮

🐴🐐It's no mystery why the Darling Ranch was pivotal to Ben, who found comfort just being in the vicinity of the petting farm at a time when he was putting all the pieces of himself back together again. The verdant landscape, and Snickerdoodle and Mouse and Donkey, Buttercup and the goats, were easy to love and care for, as Ben navigated his autism, and his way of being authentic in a loud, noisy world. It also helped that Remi was a total babe through and through, and intuitively put Ben to work straight away to get him out of his head.🐣🐁

🌻Remi was a radiant beauty who taught me a bit about cochlear implants, made me blushhhhh with his sexy, and I admired his capacity to manage the Harper brothers' emotional needs, while also pouring into himself through his art and maintaining his boundaries.🌼

🖼️👨‍🎨From start to finish, Remi symbolized home, safety and peace for Ben. And Ben was so precious to fill Remi's days and nights with flowers, and kisses, improving his ASL, and being a true partner to Remi, especially during his migraines. As a sufferer, this made me tear up, and I loved Ben even more by how well he took care of Remi.🦻🫚

💐🌷Painted in Wildflowers was patient and dreamy soft, with some next level animal whispering, vulnerabilities on display, and self-acceptance shored up through encouragement, being seen, learning to trust, and the simple pleasures of being in love. Ben wasn't the playboy I'd imagined for Remi all the way back when I'd read Sweet Like Whiskey lol😄 But everything about their HEA was as swoony and love-filled as I'd hoped for, and they were perfect for each other and that's all that matters to me!🏵️💝

Although I'm so sad to say goodbye to the Darling brothers, it was such a pleasure to see the final Darling get his HEA.

Remi and Ben are the embodiment of a warm hug, the kind that keeps you safe from the rain and reminds you that you always have a home to return to.

In all the glimpses we've had of Remi through Jackson, Law, and Colt, he's always intrigued me. Even though he's the youngest, he's been a steady, supportive presence who looks at his brothers with no judgment.

I should have known that when the time came for his own book, he was going to dance on my heartstrings.

Ben and Remi find their footing in the silence between words and signs, the ease with which they lean on each other and always find the other there to hold them up, and the way they always recognize exactly what the other is worth.

Even more so than any of the other couples, I think they're on the most even footing despite it sometimes seeming like Ben needed more support than Remi.

In this goodbye to Darling, we get the warm, cozy romance, some sass to keep us laughing, and cameos from the family we've come to know and love. I appreciated some of the running gags like Colt & the carrots, the saddle butter, and barn rendezvous. Sanders always figures out how to incorporate those moments in a way that feels fun, funny, and fresh, instead of leaning too hard on old gags.

We also finally learn the truth behind Hank and Mari's second divorce, and as they've done in every book, they find some moments to just steal the show. As much as their sons' romances are the centerpieces of this Darling world, Sanders has created some truly special in all the little moments that we see of their love story too.

So, in short, I guess I'll say that I hate to see them go, but I love to watch them leave. Darling, Montana isn't a place I'll stop revisiting anytime soon.

OH what a spectacular conclusion this incredible series and to the Darling Brothers era 🥹😭 I’m so sad it’s over but really couldn’t have imagined a better story for Remi Darling’s book, my most anticipated of the series. Remi and Benson tugged hard on my heart from the first page to the last. It was probably one of the most authentic portrayals of love I’ve read all year!

Painted in Wildflowers was really such a beautifully story about the deeply human ways we love each other. Remi and Benson are the definition of quiet love – showing intimacy in the small ways and making space for each to show up exactly as they are. I loved how much they understood each other when the world has struggled to for so long. Ben is so observant of Remi and shows him love in so many quiet small ways that just squeezed my heart. Remi is incredibly patient, understanding and supportive of Ben as he navigates his autism diagnosis and how he reframes his life to be more true to himself. Their romance felt really grounded in the basics of being human – our differences, our needs, our vulnerabilities and the connection that comes from being truly seen. 💜

I was incredibly impressed by the depth of insight Emmy brought to both Remi’s experience as a deaf character and Ben’s experience navigating a new autism diagnosis. The way she described the ways these parts of their lives and how it shaped their day-to-day living and their relationship together was really shaped Remi and Ben in my mind.

I also have to give some love to all the other amazing characters that she has written in this series. It was so lovely to get to see so much of the other Darling brothers and their partners as they interacted with Remi & Ben! I laughed so hard at every single interaction with August 😂👏🏻 The brother’s best friend trope was incredibly well done with them! And only Emmy could make me FALL IN LOVE with a tiny field mouse.. who by the way nearly made me cry at the end!!

I’m overwhelmed with grief. This is the last in the series and I love these characters and don’t want them done.

As for this story…it’s great. It is the subtle way the author gave me a look into the everyday life of characters that become friends who I want to know what is happening and the changes in their lives.

Remi is the youngest of the Darling brothers and a guy who stole my heart from the beginning. While he is deaf he makes it clear he is not handicapped. He has the brightest outlook on life and his personality reflects it. The only part missing is he feels he will never have a partner like his brothers have found. That changes when his bff’s brother shows up at the ranch. That changes everything. Remi has had a crush on Ben since he was younger but Ben is twelve years older and as kids they had little in common then. Now that age gap isn’t quite as glaring.

Ben has challenges of his own. He always felt different but nothing in his younger life gave him answers so he moved away completely changing his life hoping that would bring him answers but that didn’t happen overnight. Ben going back home originally doesn’t feel that this is the answer either but his being at the Darling ranch and his interactions with Remi gives him a whole new understanding of what he is searching for. His treatment of Mouse was a look into who he really is.

The brothers Colton and August gave a few fun moments to the story. All the secondary characters add the feeling of part of the family and bring warmth to the overall series. I will miss all of them.

This story is so easy and comforting to read. Two guys with different personalities, different problems and different lifestyles find a little of what they were looking for.

I’m more than sorry to see this series end. I love this author’s stories but these characters just found a comforting place in my heart and I’ll miss the chance to read more about them.

Remi and Benson - A brothers best friend romance to round out the series.

How much swoon can you pack into a book? A lot if your Emmy Sanders and the book is this one. Lol.

After 40 odd years, Benson has had enough trying to live a life that doesn't feel right. After having a bit of rightly deserved mental breakdown at work, he quits, packs up his life and moves back home, into the house where his mum and younger brother still live, ready to take a good hard look at himself and what he actually wants from his life.

Remi has been secretly carrying a quiet crush on his best friend's older brother since he was 16. Nothing ever came from it - except now Benson's back and trying to find his place in the world - starting with exploring his passion for working with animals - at Remi's family's farm.

What happens when two walking talking green flags start to hang out together? Only the swooniest, loveliest friends to lovers' story of 2026. They were both just so patient with one another. So understanding. So caring. So kind. Ugh. My black coal heart could not handle the love heart eyes they were making at each other! lol.

Even though Remi might be the younger of the duo, he takes the lead in this relationship, guiding Benson and holding space for him as he adjusts to a new way of thinking about himself and about the relationships that he has with the people who matter the most to him. I was cheering and clapping for them with each small hurdle that they tackled and absolutely gleeful for them when things naturally took a turn for the spicy.

If you love friends to lovers, if you love swoon worthy moments, if you love two guys communicating in all kinds of ways and just being there for one another then this book is the one for you. Be sure to check out the other three books in the series first and while you could read this as a standalone, it would be best read after the first three as you will have a much better understanding of Remi, his brothers, their partners and the family dynamic as a whole going into this one.

Emmy Sanders has made us wait until the end of the series for youngest brother Remi’s story, but it was the perfect ending to this four book series.
As expected after the glimpse we saw of him in book three, Remi’s person was his best friend Auggie’s older brother Benson, who he’d had a huge crush on when younger.
We’ve already seen quite a bit of Remi in the series and know a lot about him, but the dual POV gave us more insight into his thoughts and feelings. It also allowed us to get to know Benson too, who at the age of 42 is slowly adjusting to moving back to town and living at home with his Mum and younger brother.
Despite a 12 year ago gap, the younger Remi is the more confident one, while Ben is living with his recent autism diagnosis - which to my untrained eye seemed to be sensitively handled by the author. Despite what he perceives as a difficult relationship with his brother, some of the scenes between Ben and Auggie were my favourites, and how their relationship grew during the book was lovely - no instant fix, just gradual work and effort from both sides.
An honourable mention also has to go to Mouse, who wins the prize for cutest - and possibly smallest - pet in a book. She certainly rivals Belladonna for the best pet in this series.
Some of my favourite lines in this series are from Ben to Remi: “your smile is what it means to be free”, and for someone who is adjusting and searching to feel comfortable in his new reality, this line also hits hard: “you make me feel normal, whatever that is. Or, like, normal doesn’t matter so much. Like I’m ok just as I am”.
Although I’m sad to see the end of this series, the extra bonus scenes available at the end of the book are fab and are an extra scene or an extra mini epilogue for each couple. Every book in this series has been a 5 star read for me, but I have to admit to still loving Lawson & Oakley the best, so loved getting to see an extra scene with them in.

I wanna prep by saying I’ve read every book in this series. I read the first book when it first came out never since than I’ve been obsessed. Whenever I would get the release date for the next book in the series, I would literally go and add it to my calendar to ensure I don’t miss the release date so I can read the books as soon as possible. The Darling Brothers books are always my most anticipated books of the year. I have kept up with the series and read some of the books over and over again because how I’m obsessed with everything that Emmy Sanders includes in them. So, when I say I’ve been waiting for Remi's book, I meant it. If you go back to my review for Saddle to Sunup (such an amazing book I’m still unable to move on from it btw), you’ll see me saying I don’t how I’m going to survive till August without Remi’s book. I’m glad I’ve finally got to read it after honestly years of waiting as I’ve always adored Remi the most during all the other books in the series. As always, Emmy did an amazing job representing a neurodivergent character like she did with To Catch a Firefly. There’s something about an author who’s not afraid to represent characters with disability that I always appreciate. I personally can’t believe all brothers books are now complete, it feels so surreal as someone who been following this series since the release of the first book. It’s such bittersweet feeling as I’m sad all darlings brothers are now tied down but I cannot wait to see what Emmy is cooking up next! Let me not forget an honorable mention to Mouse, my favorite side character in this book. I also can’t not mention Ben improving his ASL for Remi, so he’s able to understand him. Lastly, Remi always looking out for Ben and making sure he’s always comfortable.

PAINTED IN WILDFLOWERS is the fourth book in The Darling Brothers series, although I haven't read any of the others. Did that impact my enjoyment? Absolutely not, although I now have three other books added to my TBR list!

If you want a book that hugs you and gives you all the warm fuzzies, then this is the one for you. Remi and Benson are both such amazing characters. Remi is Deaf and has a cochlear implant. The choice of whether or not he wears it is completely up to him. As for Benson, well, he's older than Remi, which makes for a conversation but no angst. He has been diagnosed as autistic after having a breakdown at work. He has returned home to his mum and brother to try and figure out his next steps.

This was such a lovely book. The relationship between Remi and Ben progresses so naturally, and is so full of love, tenderness, and yes, romance. There are spicy scenes too. I mean, if that barn could talk! But overall, it was about togetherness and acceptance, which was exactly what I needed to read right now. Honestly, in my opinion, more was said between these two when they sat in silence than other books can even think about. Penguin pebbling is wonderful, and the whole description of the various ways just about k!lled me with sweetness.

The epilogue was brilliant, bringing a perfect end to a perfect book. Did I cry? You betcha! Especially when Remi looked at something and commented. Gah! It's so hard not to give spoilers when all I want to do is rave about the story!

Anyway, moving swiftly on before anything escapes, I can only give this book 5 out of 5 exceptional stars, but I would give more if I could. Definitely recommended.

Remi and Ben give a lovely farewell to this amazing universe.

Oakley and Lawson’s story is still my favorite Darling romance but Painted in Wildflowers carries the same warmth and heart that made me fall in love with this whole series in the first place. It has that comforting feeling of coming back to a world you already care about, while still giving Remi and Ben their own space to shine.

As usual, Emmy Sanders does a beautiful job with her characters. Remi and Ben are written with so much heart, and I really appreciated the care that went into their stories. Remi’s Deafness and Ben’s autism never feel like they’re added just for the sake of representation, they feel like an important part of who they are, shaping the way they move through the world and connect with others.

I’ve said before that I’m not the biggest fan of age gaps, and while I still don’t think it was completely necessary here, it never took away from the story for me. If anything, I can see how it gave the book room to explore what it means for Ben to be an autistic man over forty who has carried a lifetime of expectations and obstacles and is starting to learn to know and love himself. That added a deeper layer to his character and made his journey feel even more meaningful.

I also loved all the cameos from the brothers and their partners. Seeing the familiar faces makes it feel like one last warm hug from the Darling world. The small-town vibe, the ranch life, and the sense of family and community are all such a big part of the series’ charm, and they worked beautifully here.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. Emmy’s signature symbolism always makes everything feel incredibly romantic and almost magical, and Painted in Wildflowers with all its soft, swoony moments is no exception.

The fact that this series is over makes me so sad but this was so perfect. Benson and Remi were the perfect couple to wrap up the series. I absolutely loved every single part of this.

As usual, Emmy did such an amazing job with the representation of course. I devoured this book in a day because I was hooked from the very first page all the way to the end.

I love me a good age gap mix in with brother’s best friend because already knew how good it was going to me. August is Remi’s best friend as well as Benson’s younger brother.

Okay, the best character in this book had to be the little sidekick. Mouse is a mouse and the way she got her name had me giggling. The way he wrote the name “Mouse” had me cackling.

And Colton as usual has me giggling. What else is new?! The freaking sight of the carrot or even the mention of saddle butter. I just can’t.

I felt for Benson so hard because when he told a certain person he was autistic, my heart broke for him. I really loved how he eventually told his mom and August and he had Remi’s support the whole way.

It took a minute to get with it but I loved how he was there for Benson when he learned he was autistic.

These two showed each other so much support and the little gifts they gave to one another. I was here for the praise, which Benson loves, and just the affection. The way that they were there for one another. The little popups of Mouse peeking her head out of his pocket making Remi smile.

The ending with the mud fight. Best ending ever!

I could seriously go on and on about how amazing this book was. If you haven’t read any of these books, I highly recommend this whole series.

You know when you’ve been waiting for a characters story from the very first book in the series and you have to wait until the final book to have it…and when you read it it’s worth every single second of waiting. This is have I felt about this story, it was simply beautiful and I savoured every second of it.

Remington (Remi) Darling, the youngest darling brother had my heart from the very first book, my love for him only grew throughout the series and was cemented in this, his story. Caretaker to the animals on the darling ranch and the main house. He has such a strength of character and is so genuine, thoughtful, cheeky and charismatic, Benson never stood a chance.

Benson returns to his hometown and finds himself drawn to Darling ranch. He is finally learning about himself, reconnecting with family, discovering he truly wants from his life and what he enjoys. He finds comfort in the calm and the animals of Darling Ranch and unexpectedly, his younger brother August’s best friend, Remi.

I absolutely adored the way Remi and Benson developed a gorgeous friendship and then with care and consideration, slowly built their relationship. Remi was so kind and supportive as Benson opened up, Benson in turn grounded Remi, they had a beautiful balance.

This book celebrated the small moments and I loved and treasured every moment between these two. Especially their shared love of animals, the silkies, the figurines, the wildflowers and Benson with mouse melted my heart.

Emmy wrote the deaf and autistic representation in this story with such care and respect. I really felt for Benson and his family situation. I loved watching him open up and be his true self with his mum and August. I enjoyed the storyline with Remi, Benson and August too.

I loved every moment with the whole Darling family (especially Remi setting his boundaries), the connections and throwbacks to previous books provided me with many laughs and warmed my heart.

Definitely read ‘The Darling Brothers Bonus Pack’ when you finish this book, it wraps up the series beautifully and brought a tear to my eye.

I could not recommend this book and whole series more!

This book was so much more than I even imagined. Benson and Remi were the most beautiful love story.

Remi Darling-this man…he is generous, kind, patient, and so abundant in the compassion he gives to others. He is strong, resilient, knows who he is and what he wants in life. He is content and happy with his life as the youngest Darling brother and keeper of the petting farm. Oh how I love him and how he shows up in the world.

Benson-this sweet man at 40 just starting to truly understand himself. He is insecure, unsure, and struggling to find himself in a world that just hasn’t gotten a chance to know the real him. He is sweet and kind and one of the most gentlest of souls but so deeply hurt by a world that never allowed him to fully himself.

Remi and Benson slowly build a friendship that becomes so much more. Remi offers Benson the quiet and space to be himself fully and Benson adapts so effortlessly to what Remi needs in communication and care. The way they showed up for each other in all the small ways-which I believe are so much more than the grand gestures was just such a balm to my soul.

Their love was so special and honestly I wish I could reread this again for the 1st time. In true Emmy fashion this book will have you laughing, crying and wishing it would never end.

And speaking of endings…the way this series ended was beautiful and perfect and everything you hope for in a series ending. All the boys are present exactly as themselves- and the Darling parents will leave you smiling as always! Can’t wait to get a physical copy of this one!

Remi’s was my most anticipated book in the series and Emmy Sanders made the wait so worth it. His sweet, gentle and sassy vibe came through nice and strong in his story and was such a necessity for his equally sweet and gentle partner! This was all comfort and I’m thrilled to report, ZERO THIRD ACT BREAKUP/DRAMA!!! While there were heartfelt moments, I feel like this falls on the lower end of Emmy’s angst and pining scale.

The way these 2 fell, supported and loved each other throughout the book was perfection. Their own life obstacles allowed them to understand each other and show the necessary empathy. I may not have the same exact diagnosis as Ben, but I share a lot of the same sensitivities from the adhd and misophonia, so I felt extremely seen while reading about his experiences.

I’m quite sad that the series is over, but I was thrilled to be back with the whole Darling gang. In addition to the chaotic bunch, we also get a surprise pop up from a unique pet/critter. It’s freaking adorable and I was obsessed!

The final Darling Brothers book has arrived! It’s Remi’s turn. And it was everything you could have wanted for his story and the finale of this series. Remi has had a crush on his best friend’s older brother since he was a teenager. Never did he expect anything to happen. Especially since Benson had left Darling years ago. But now that Benson is home and finds himself at the Darling Ranch more often than not, that long ago crush is surfacing. But what’s even better? It’s more real this time. Because now Remi is getting to know Benson and he is both not what he expected and probably exactly what he has been looking for. Can it be possible for Benson to have feelings for Remi too? Benson returns home after so long staying away and being anything but himself. He finally has a name for what he never understood about himself until now and it comes with much needed peace. Now, he just wants to work on finding out exactly who he is. He just never expected that Remi Darling would be the one to embrace Benson’s true self and love him for it. Benson has never felt safer than when he is with Remi. And maybe they are exactly what one another have been looking for all along. I loved these two. They were so sweet and beautiful and just utterly perfect for one another in every way. I loved how they found one another at the right time. I just absolutely loved their story and it couldn’t have been a sweeter end to the series. I will definitely miss these characters! Great finale and a great series!

How do you describe falling in love? How do you define finding home? How do you know without a doubt that someone understands you?
When I read a book by this author I know these questions will be asked and answered. Maybe not in the way the characters were expecting but they will find them. Emmy bring a soul to each character and you know you will also learn something new. For this one it was more about the ace spectrum of sexuality and for that I say thank you. These bits of information are always such important pieces of information and knowledge. Also seeing the difference in the way people accept a diagnosis of autism in later life shows us a lot and the way the people in the characters life each reacted was beautifully told, it can be painful and sad but accepting.

As the mother of an autistic adult, these characters and stories with such experiences are so often overlooked. We tend to drift to childhood autism and forget that today so many people are diagnosed as adults. We forget that it was only just over 10 years ago you could have both autism and ADHD. It’s not an increase in autism it’s more people will g to accept the diagnosis and be diagnosed.

Remi and Ben are just so beautiful together!

I really loved how they just got each other and gave each other a safe space to be comfortable and happy, whether they were together or alone. Remi totally understood Ben's need for quiet and read his body language so well, and Ben's commitment to ASL and making sure Remi was comfortable was just so sweet.

Mouse kinda stole the show for me though! How adorable!! I used to have a pet mouse when I was younger and it just made me so nostalgic. Ben's love for animals made him the perfect match for Remi too.

The wildflowers though.... Oh my god, the swoon! Ben was SO romantic but he didn't need big flashy gestures or flowery words to show Remi how much he cared. The thoughtfulness behind the flowers was just the sweetest, and it really tied in to Remi's painting and the way Remi sees in colours.

August was so dramatic and I loved him so much. I actually learnt a new term with this book too which definitely got me thinking more as I am on the Ace spectrum myself, so it was kinda cool to see this representation. I loved how he was so accepting of Ben and Remi though, in fact the whole Darling family was just so loving that the book felt like a warm hug the whole way through. I also loved Remi finally getting payback on his brothers....

I'll definitely miss this cast of characters!

Now this is exactly how you finish up a series.

I have been looking forward to Remington’s book ever since we first met him and the other Darling brothers.

My hope was that his search for a happy ever after would be filled with the kind of romance that keeps you smiling from start to finish. Emmy Sanders did not disappoint.

I’ve always felt a connection to Remi, because I too suffer from migraines. I also studied American Sign Language and I love reading stories with deaf representation.

But then here comes Benson, and I felt an immediate connection to him as well. I am also an older adult who fully believes they have both feet planted somewhere along the spectrum; however, I have not been brave enough to seek an official diagnosis. It was a joy to follow Benson on his journey and know that it’s never too late to take control of your life to find your own peace and happiness.

As far as the other Darling brothers and their partners are concerned, there was just enough of them sprinkled through the story to help you remember how much you also loved them. But they in no way overshadowed the main couple. This is well and truly Remi and Benson’s love story.

There is a small collection of bonus scenes, titled The Darling Brothers Bonus Pack, which you will be able to obtain by signing up for Emmy’s newsletter. I have yet to read them, as I think I want to wait until I find myself needing a little catchup with these lovely brothers in Darling, Montana.
